Trajan, the Roman Emperor, died suddenly on August 9th 117 AD in Selinus while returning to Italy from a stroke. He had ruled for 19 years, expanding the Roman Empire significantly through military conquests. Trajan was born in 53 AD in Spain and was adopted by the previous Emperor Nerva. Despite his successes, Trajan had a simple funeral in keeping with his character, with his ashes returned to Rome for a state funeral.

Today, August 9th 117 AD, Roman
Emperor Trajan was pronounced
dead. While returning to Italy, in
the town of Selinus, he suffered a
stroke.
After 19 years the
reign of Trajan is over.

Trajan was born around September 18th
53 AD.
He was born at Italica, in Spain. He was
born to his father Ulpius Trajanaus and
his mother Marcia. However he was
adopted by Nerva, who was at the time
the Emperor of Rome, which made
Trajan’s heir. In his lifetime he made
lasting contributions to society.

Trajan
Trajan was a very successful emperor, he
did everything he could to better his
empire. Trajan reconstructed the Circus
Maximus, and built New Harbor at
Ostia. He made it a goal to keep Rome
at the top. Trajan was triumphant when
it came to war. He conquered the
Kingdom of Dacia, and expanded the
Roman Empire to the Persian Gulf. If he
had not been killed today I’m sure it
5. Funeral Arrangements
Trajan was a great ruler, but he had a
simple funeral for being such a
successful leader. His ashes were
returned to Rome, where he was
given a state funeral. Trajan will be
missed, and surely never forgotten.
