SMART SOLUTIONS TECHNOLOGY`S SURVEY
Job loss it is not something desired by someone, especially in recent years, all over in the world
the number of unemployed increased considerably.
The effects of the economic crisis have generated decrease of the number of jobs. The
competition for achieving a job is becoming stiffer in the last 2 years in Romania.
However, the unemployment is not the end of existence and a lot of Romanians often look to
the future with confidence.
The moment can be overcome by perseverance in looking for a job, through perseverance and
through effective counseling.
Disappointment produced by Loss of job brings to mind of the unemployed an inferiority
complex, considering them worse prepared than others and less useful.
Since that is recorded an obvious increase of a job insecurity because of changes on the labor
market (such as: the emergence of new professions, rising unemployment rates, loss of a job, etc.), it
makes people to be less confident in their own lives.
Therefore, can be observed that those who have a low or medium educational level, are feeling
disarmed when they fail to find an adequate job with their interests and specialization.
Human resources specialists and psychologists say that the first step to reintegration is the change of
attitude.
Smart Solutions Technology Company, conducted a survey among 95 unemployed from 3
counties, from the southwest Oltenia region.
The unemployed respondents had the
following age structure:
1. under 25 years: 18,42%
2. between 25-29 years: 7,35%
3. between 30-39 years: 20,69%
4. between 40-49 years: 26,34%
5. between 50-55 years: 12,85%
6. over 55 years: 14,34%

Depending on the level of education, the unemployed respondents had the following structure:
1. educational level under 10 classes (including vocational school) : 71,61%
2. educational level high school and post high school: 22.16%
3. educational level academic : 6,24%
Depending on the duration of unemployment:
1. 31,63% long-term unemployed (> 6 months)
2. 68,37 unemployed for less than 6 months

For each question it was calculated an average responses which went up upper. This is
expressed in the chart below
1. The first month of my unemployment went by normally
2. I think that finding a job could solve all of my problems.
3. I have personal values that are still hidden from me.
4. I’m suffering from feeling worthless.
5. I can see that people at the job centre are really trying to help me.
6. I am just waiting for a better chance.
7. Recently I do not meet as many people as I did before getting unemployed.
8. I do all my best to find a job.
9. I have given up on finding a new job.
10. I have several plans for the future.
11. I often feel helpless.
12. I am not fully aware all of my competences.
13. My daily mood has an impact on my job seeking efforts.
14. At the job centre I can often express how I feel.
15. At the job centre the job centre clerk shows me that he/she knows how I feel.
16. At the job centre the job centre clerk communicates with me in a way that I feel that he
respects me and my feelings.
17. I really hope that I will be able to cooperate with the job centre clerk.
18. I do not believe that the job centre can really help with finding a new job.
After the discussions with clerks from Unemployment Agency from Craiova and after the
analysis made by us, based on feedback from various unemployed which daily is addressed of
unemployment agency, we can conclude that:

In a lot of many cases, the first month of unemployment do not negatively affect the mental and
emotional state of the unemployed. It's a liberation and exploratory period. Rarely are major
frustrations which have negative consequences on the psyche of unemployed people.
The job loss or impossibility of finding a new job has doubled in the last year the number of
people affected by depression.
The analysis developed that people between 40-49 years represent 26,34% of the total
unemployed are represented by age with an average level of training and experience in the work of
about 20 years, and the period in which the probability of being affected is high after six months of job
loss.
The unemployed usually does not consider that finding a job can solve all the problems,
because there is a great degree of uncertainty in Romanians employers.
In addition, many of those who have lost their jobs feel helpless and begin to make more
worrying, especially after the first six months. This is particularly visible among unemployed for over 40
years.
They express this concern when talking to the clerks and are confident that they will be helped.
It is good to note that there were also many unemployed, especially older than 40 years who think that
the possibility to be helped by the clerks is limited and depends on the character of them.
Many unemployed have the patience to wait for a better job than are offered by agencies of
unemployment. We believe that this is happening because in Oltenia region, where they live the
surveyed, most of families have houses in the countryside, from where they can procure food and
where they spend a lot of time. This comes to support the answers to question “I do all my best to find
a job.” which has not received high scores only by young that have at least high school education.
So, the way of looking at things about unemployment is different and is depending on age,
education and family.
Many respondents did not know their true value they are underestimate or do not know how to
evaluate themselves.
Close to the middle are the answers to the question “My daily mood has an impact on my job
seeking efforts.”. We dare to consider this aspect to be positive and to conclude that unemployed
respondents was not into a mental health condition affected by unemployment, yet
The last five questions are very important and this is sensed by the unemployed. It is obvious
that there is a link between responses. Some of them believe that the clerks of the unemployment
agency can help significantly, the others are disappointed with the performance of officials. Here we
meet more problems:
- "experience" to being unemployed
- Age
- Personality
- Level of education and culture

However, we can observe that these questions are scores of 4 to 6, which obliges us to
conclude that the unemployed do not feel help and support in their problems. If we think to the other
one questionnaire, the one for the clerks, it is easy to deduce that it is a strong connection between
them:
- the clerks do not have enough time to talk to the unemployed as long as it would take
- not all clerks have enough life experience so that the conversation to be positive for the
unemployed
- in the absence of competencies in communication management, the clerks cannot do the job
well and unemployed feel frustrated, leave the agency without having an effective aid, only with
technical information most often.

  • 1. 1 SMART SOLUTIONS TECHNOLOGY`S SURVEY Job loss it is not something desired by someone, especially in recent years, all over in the world the number of unemployed increased considerably. The effects of the economic crisis have generated decrease of the number of jobs. The competition for achieving a job is becoming stiffer in the last 2 years in Romania. However, the unemployment is not the end of existence and a lot of Romanians often look to the future with confidence. The moment can be overcome by perseverance in looking for a job, through perseverance and through effective counseling. Disappointment produced by Loss of job brings to mind of the unemployed an inferiority complex, considering them worse prepared than others and less useful. Since that is recorded an obvious increase of a job insecurity because of changes on the labor market (such as: the emergence of new professions, rising unemployment rates, loss of a job, etc.), it makes people to be less confident in their own lives. Therefore, can be observed that those who have a low or medium educational level, are feeling disarmed when they fail to find an adequate job with their interests and specialization. Human resources specialists and psychologists say that the first step to reintegration is the change of attitude. Smart Solutions Technology Company, conducted a survey among 95 unemployed from 3 counties, from the southwest Oltenia region. The unemployed respondents had the following age structure: 1. under 25 years: 18,42% 2. between 25-29 years: 7,35% 3. between 30-39 years: 20,69% 4. between 40-49 years: 26,34% 5. between 50-55 years: 12,85% 6. over 55 years: 14,34%
  • 2. 2 Depending on the level of education, the unemployed respondents had the following structure: 1. educational level under 10 classes (including vocational school) : 71,61% 2. educational level high school and post high school: 22.16% 3. educational level academic : 6,24% Depending on the duration of unemployment: 1. 31,63% long-term unemployed (> 6 months) 2. 68,37 unemployed for less than 6 months
  • 3. 3 For each question it was calculated an average responses which went up upper. This is expressed in the chart below 1. The first month of my unemployment went by normally 2. I think that finding a job could solve all of my problems. 3. I have personal values that are still hidden from me. 4. I’m suffering from feeling worthless. 5. I can see that people at the job centre are really trying to help me. 6. I am just waiting for a better chance. 7. Recently I do not meet as many people as I did before getting unemployed. 8. I do all my best to find a job. 9. I have given up on finding a new job. 10. I have several plans for the future. 11. I often feel helpless. 12. I am not fully aware all of my competences. 13. My daily mood has an impact on my job seeking efforts. 14. At the job centre I can often express how I feel. 15. At the job centre the job centre clerk shows me that he/she knows how I feel. 16. At the job centre the job centre clerk communicates with me in a way that I feel that he respects me and my feelings. 17. I really hope that I will be able to cooperate with the job centre clerk. 18. I do not believe that the job centre can really help with finding a new job. After the discussions with clerks from Unemployment Agency from Craiova and after the analysis made by us, based on feedback from various unemployed which daily is addressed of unemployment agency, we can conclude that:
  • 4. 4 In a lot of many cases, the first month of unemployment do not negatively affect the mental and emotional state of the unemployed. It's a liberation and exploratory period. Rarely are major frustrations which have negative consequences on the psyche of unemployed people. The job loss or impossibility of finding a new job has doubled in the last year the number of people affected by depression. The analysis developed that people between 40-49 years represent 26,34% of the total unemployed are represented by age with an average level of training and experience in the work of about 20 years, and the period in which the probability of being affected is high after six months of job loss. The unemployed usually does not consider that finding a job can solve all the problems, because there is a great degree of uncertainty in Romanians employers. In addition, many of those who have lost their jobs feel helpless and begin to make more worrying, especially after the first six months. This is particularly visible among unemployed for over 40 years. They express this concern when talking to the clerks and are confident that they will be helped. It is good to note that there were also many unemployed, especially older than 40 years who think that the possibility to be helped by the clerks is limited and depends on the character of them. Many unemployed have the patience to wait for a better job than are offered by agencies of unemployment. We believe that this is happening because in Oltenia region, where they live the surveyed, most of families have houses in the countryside, from where they can procure food and where they spend a lot of time. This comes to support the answers to question “I do all my best to find a job.” which has not received high scores only by young that have at least high school education. So, the way of looking at things about unemployment is different and is depending on age, education and family. Many respondents did not know their true value they are underestimate or do not know how to evaluate themselves. Close to the middle are the answers to the question “My daily mood has an impact on my job seeking efforts.”. We dare to consider this aspect to be positive and to conclude that unemployed respondents was not into a mental health condition affected by unemployment, yet The last five questions are very important and this is sensed by the unemployed. It is obvious that there is a link between responses. Some of them believe that the clerks of the unemployment agency can help significantly, the others are disappointed with the performance of officials. Here we meet more problems: - "experience" to being unemployed - Age - Personality - Level of education and culture
  • 5. 5 However, we can observe that these questions are scores of 4 to 6, which obliges us to conclude that the unemployed do not feel help and support in their problems. If we think to the other one questionnaire, the one for the clerks, it is easy to deduce that it is a strong connection between them: - the clerks do not have enough time to talk to the unemployed as long as it would take - not all clerks have enough life experience so that the conversation to be positive for the unemployed - in the absence of competencies in communication management, the clerks cannot do the job well and unemployed feel frustrated, leave the agency without having an effective aid, only with technical information most often.
