2. Experience and Discover
• Is it a real problem? How serious is it?
The unemployment is maybe the most serious
problem in Romania, as both the statistics and
people say, the unemployment rate being about
7.3 %. What is worse is that from this 7.3 % of
unemployment rate, 1.82 % represents the youth
unemployment, what it means we need urgently a
solution to solve it.

3. Experience and Discover
• What is the situation in our country, region, town? What is the
age/gender/education/background of affected people ?
Regarding this issue, we have decided to make a case study in
which there were involved about 60 young people with ages
between 18 and 22
Talking with young people from our country, we have observed that
the main causes for the youth unemployment are the poverty, the
competition (between them , because there are few jobs ) , the lack
of motivation , education and especially the lack of experience.

4. Experience and Discover
• 12 people from our target say that thay have no motivation to have a job, or almost look for one. Lack of motivation usually
comes from those parents who care only of “their child wellness” and give him anything he wishes for, without thinking that
later it becomes “their child worseness”(nu stiu daca m-am exprimat corect). They make decisions for him, like the faculty for
instance. And why the child doesn`t have a work place? Because he studied what “mum”and “dad” wanted and he did not
practice, because “he would have learnt when he has worked”. And because everyone is going to faculty, it`s obvious that
the jobs are fewer, compared with the graduates.
Another 28 people from our target say that the education is the “murderer” of the youjgsters`future career. The Education in
Romania is another cause for youth unemployment and we can see it from the Baccalaureate results. Just last year the high
school students (around 100.000 persons) have passed the Baccalaureate - the lowest graduation rate in the history of the
country.Regarding education, Romania is facing a big challenge, because the young doesn`t have the skills requested by
the enterprises and the labor market could absorb only some of them, which is insignificant. Also the educational system is
not focused on practice as on theory and the youth lacks proper regarding services. For youth , to explain what their actual
skills after years of studying are, it has proven to be difficult .In our country everybody is encouraged to go to University
because everybody wants to work in a Multinational Company, in front of the desk and a job like this is associated with a lot of
money. But most of them don`t know that to reach up the top involves a lot of hardwork, a lot of ambition and passion
because they have never faced up the reality...
And let`s talk a little about lack of experience, that18 persons from our target talk about. Why the employers don`t want to
hire young people? The most frequent answer is “because they don`t have experience at all”.And here intervine the
education system also. We come and say: Why don`t you let them work for one week to see what they can, what they are
capable of..Maybe they have more imagination then your actual employees and for sure they have.Maybe they have ideas
for your company innovation. Give them a chance, create internships and let them learn from inside, from work, not from
books !
Are you or your peers affected? Is there evidence of brain drain? Who is leaving
the country, where are they going and why?
Most of those who are leaving the country are people without superior studies , with proffesions like plumber, tailor, butcher ,
waiter or builder. Why? Just for this: in our country the most hunted jobs are those for people who have college studies.

5. Present our solution
• Who is responsible for?
We think we all are.
Beginning with Romanian Educational system, which changes
once a year or in the better case, once two years, continuing
with the parents who does not encourage their children do what
they want or almost go to school, let them make decisions by
their own and fininshing with the entire society, because they
don`t have innitiative to change it, they don`t have the correct
mentality yet and they do nothing, but blaming the
Gouvernment and so on…

6. Present our solution
“Practice to learn and learn to practice” is a very popular saying in Romania. Is it true? I think
it has to be the motto of each person, as when you want to do something, no matter in
which field, you have to practice...Practicing is the mother of learning, right? In our opinion,
the practice not only makes you better, but also improves the experience you need for your
future career. So, the main idea is that in Romania, the practice programmes for the youth,
beginning from high school youngsters should be more encouraged. from a young age , they
should learn how the money is earned, how work is done in a company, in what field they
are looking for, otherwise they will gain the experience they need. Like internships for
instance:
The safeness that after finishing school they will be able to get any job they want, and the
fact that they go to universities will be more a confirmation of the position they wanted to
work in.By doing an internship, you have the chance to gain experience in the field you are
interested in, to develop your skills, to learn and to evolve professionally. An internship gives
you the opportunity to get hired more easily in that certain company and not only, which
might reprsent an advantage for you, as you are already used to the working environment. .

7. Present our solution
• Another solution for decreasing youth unemployment is to
encourage the young people to make decisions by their own
and not let their parents, friends or other people influence their
future choices. Most of them do not have a job because they
cannot find something that fits them. You don`t have to go to
University if you don`t want to.There are so many other options
you can take into consideration. For example, you
don`t need an University degree in order to become a
hairdresser. If you like it and do it with passion, then it’s the
right job for you.

9. Present our solution
• Another solution, the most helpful in our opinion, is
to obtain some European funds for Youth. There are
a lot of programmes , like POSDRU , which help you
change the entire society, motivate you and give
you the opportuniy to have your own business and
not to be an unemployee anymore…

10. Planned results and outcomes
• It wasn`t an easy challenge, we did work hard for
it…The most pleaseant thing was the interaction
with young people who encharged us with energy
and wish for change. We spent about 5 h
interacting with them and about 12 h to debate
and realize what you have just read.We think we
need more than 72 h to spend on the solution
• · How many young unemployed people will you
reach? We aim to reach enough unemployed
people to change the situation.
