Turkle On Intimacy
1) According to the author of the study and the TedTalk you heard, what effects are "smart phones"
(ability to instantly chat, text, check emails, etc) having on intimacy? What are your thoughts on
what you heard and read? Sherry Turkle makes the point that there is an immediate sense of
connection that we get when we receive a text from someone far away. However, activities such as
checking smartphones and emails can provide individuals with the ability to disconnect from having
intimacy even when individuals are right next to each other. It allows for individuals to be selective
about what they pay attention to in their daily lives. This is probably because we can easily escape
the here and now through the use of a technology. Turkle argues ... Show more content on

I believe that it is because of my Dominican heritage and the sense of connection that derives from
being with someone in person. I have found myself having arguments with my mother because she
views it as a duty for family members to visit each other in a regular basis. To not do so is almost a
violation of a moral code. She at times gives me "the talk" which is to let me know that I have not
visited my (insert a close relative) in a few weeks. While calling is something that my family has
done to connect with those back in the Dominican Republic, it has been underutilized with close
family members. Like in many Dominican families, strong family bonds are fostered in face–to–
face interactions. When it is not present, there are efforts to increase this time of communication
such as "the talk" that I feel happens to more acculturated

them. They are a protection from outside threats. Sometimes people erect emotional walls to protect
themselves from the encroachment of others upon their personal space. They are afraid that if
someone enters their personal space, that someone might cause harm or dominate them. But if there
is no threat from another, there is no need to erect these emotional walls. In fact there is joy in
allowing someone to share one's own personal space. Sharing this space in a non–threatening way is
called intimacy. It is natural for a rational, free person to long for intimacy and to rejoice in it.
Intimacy requires no emotional walls, yet intimacy still implies consideration of personal borders,
that is, the point at which one person leaves off and another begins. Recognizing and respecting
these boundaries goes to the very heart of a person's sense of identity and self–worth. ... Show more

Naturally the person feels violated. That person would have no negative concerns had he or she
voluntarily shared his or her food. But to have someone take it without permission is experienced as
a disrespect of the owner's dignity because the food was identified with the owner, and to take it is
to disrespect the owner's personal sovereignty. This feeling of being put upon stems from a person's
natural sense of having a personal space, which refers directly to that person's unique self. This
space defines where a person's self–determination and self–management reside. It marks a person's
unique way of being in the world, that is, his or her autonomy, and it authorizes a person to speak of
what's in this personal space as

Intimacy In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet
In the play Romeo and juliet by William Shakespeare Romeo is a young man and still has time to
discover intimacy. Romeo and Juliet on the first day were talking about getting married which they
are still teenagers, and Romeo and Juliet could be making decisions that they will regret in the
future. Romeo and juliet should get to know each other before getting married or dating . Romeo
and Juliet's love is artificial because it is too fast paced and real love takes time to develop. During
the play the capulets throw a party and romeo attends. After the party Romeo sneaks to the back of
the house over the orchard walls and tries to talk to Juliet. Romeo talks about how much he loves
juliet. But however Juliet explains to romeo that there fondness is ... Show more content on

Also she thinks that it is way to hasty . True love takes time to grow and Romeo wants her love right
away. Juliet is being careful and is thinking ahead rather than Romeo, he is being airy. If Romeo was
really in love with juliet he would respect her decision. Romeo Barely knows Juliet that's why she
said that it is to sudden. Juliet wants to wait and see if it works out because romeo could get over
and find a different girl quickly and Juliet does not want that to happen. At another point in the
scene Romeo is still talking to Juliet in the back of the house , in the orchard about his love to Juliet.
But Juliet is still second guessing Romeos intimacy for her. Romeo and juliet in this scene of the
play are talking about how he got there, and why he has so much intimacy . During the scene Juliet
describes that she is being," too quickly won". (I.3) Juliet thinks that she is giving into his love way
to fast. Which she is right because Romeo was in infatuated with Rosaline and he claimed the he
loved her so much but got over her way too quick. Juliet does not want that to happen with her and
she is being cautious which is good. Juliet wants to get to know him first before they get married

The Pros And Cons Of Intimacy
I am of two minds about the statement that "Internet–based technology, including mobile and
computer–based technology, produces greater intimacy among people". On the one hand, I agree
that online communication can produce intimacy among people. On the other hand, I am not sure
whether they will be able to maintain that intimacy only through these online communications and it
will be a greater intimacy as stated. My reasons are intimacy may be created virtually but can be
maintained only via physical encounter, even though there is increased self–disclosure there can be
misinterpretations also, and internet is a way to meet people with same interests, opinions, and
views , but may not be safe. Intimacy is one of the main reason, why people stay together, even after
great arguments and conflicts. Probably it is easy to create intimacy, but to ... Show more content on

Electronic Intimacy, By Christine Rosen
Christine Rosen's article " Electronic Intimacy" is saying that humans have chosen forms of
communication to alter our emotional experience of connection. The e–mail and texting and

Hands: time changes Sherwood Anderson's story "Hands" is primarily concerned with innocence
and guilt.
Ochani Lele states "A pair of hands can create, inspire, instill dreams; while those same hands can
destroy, diffuse, and install nightmares." (Lele) Through Anderson's "Hands" it suggest that
something innocent can be quickly distorted into something grotesque.

The townspeople did not understand why Adolf Myers was like that, they thought it was wrong. The
towns people ran Myers out of town. They came to his house and they were going to hang him, "but
something in his figure, so small, white and pitiful touched their hearts and they let him escape."
(1942) That is how he ended up in Winesburg. He is
now known as Wing Biddlebaum. Wing Biddlebaum is still confused about what happened in
Pennsylvania. "[He] did not understand what had happened he felt that the hands must be to blame."
(1942) Wing Biddlebaum did not think he belonged in this town. He was "forever frightened and
beset by a ghostly brand of doubts, did not think of himself as, in anyway, a part of the life of the
town where he lived for 20 years."
(1939)
Wing Biddlebaum talked a lot with his hands. "The slender expressive fingers, forever active,
forever striving to conceal themselves in his pockets or behind his back, came forth and became the
piston rods of his machinery of expression." (1939) Since
Wing Biddlebaum thought his hands were to blame he always hid them.

Intimacy In Looking For Alaska
One hundred thirty–six days before. We meet a loner, though not by choice but circumstance, named
Miles Halter. He knows there is more to the world than just the little, uneventful excuse that has
made up his years thus far. His unique hobby of memorizing last words may contribute to Miles
sense of urgency in seeking the "Great Perhaps"(Green 5). He needs something more, something
that challenges him. Looking for this, Miles goes to Culver Creek boarding school, where he finds
his perhaps in a girl named Alaska Young, and this is where the book Looking for Alaska's story
begins to unfold its intricate layers of narrative. Though it is possible for a middle schooler to read
this book, themes such as intimacy, suffering, and closure resound ... Show more content on

With these two interactions we see the differences of physical intimacy vs. emotional intimacy. Even
though Alaska and Miles where never physically intimate, besides a quick kiss, the emotions
flowing through him as it happened where much more lively and intense than when Miles had his
"hog smoked" (Green 129). When Alaska falls asleep atop of Miles that same night, he says, "I love
you Alaska Young" (Green 131). Love is something Miles never expresses for Lara because they
lacked the emotional intimacy that Alaska and Miles shared. Now whether or not sixth graders
would comprehend the complex theme of intimacy is not likely. The book requires the reader to
understand intimacy in a context pass the inert idealism of middle schoolers and most high
schoolers. Just because someone is sexually active does not mean they fully grasp the emotional
connectivity that two people romantically share. Even though a sixth grader could definitely have
the ability to read the words in this book, it's likely that a central theme needed to understand Miles
actions later in the book would go completely unnoticed by someone so young of an age, in fact it
nearly went over my own head whilst reading.
Two days after. "We should have stopped her" (Green 19), said Miles, two days after the death of
Alaska Young. The girl who became his obsession, who gave him a sense of emotional intimacy, the
girl who he

Interracial Intimacy Summary
Today, interracial relationships are socially acceptable but that has not always been the case. Rachel
M. Moran, author of "Interracial Intimacy," argues that "the freedom to love across the color line is a
recent phenomenon in American history." As late as the 1960s, U.S. states had the power to prohibit
races from intermarrying, at one point, mostly all 50 states have banned interracial marriages.
During the colonial era, anti–miscegenation laws were used to define the differences between whites
and blacks; the statutes aimed at keeping racial privilege. It was not until 1967 that anti–
miscegenation laws were overruled by the Supreme Court in Loving v. Virginia. Furthermore,
several other factors contributed to the overruling of statutes ... Show more content on

Connecticut, the right to marital privacy was established; the Court claimed that although the
Constitution does not explicitly protect individuals' general right to privacy, the various
amendments, in conjunction, establish a right to privacy. The First, Third, Fourth, and Ninth
Amendments, altogether create the right to privacy in marital relations, therefore, interracial
marriages, too, have the right to marital privacy (Griswold 1965). With both cases' rulings we can
deduce that interracial relationships should not have been prohibited because, as the cases indicate,
every person has the right to marital privacy. According to the cases, anti–miscegenation statutes
were unlawful since the laws were put into effect to prevent races from

Intimacy Vs Isolation Theory
There are millions and millions of people on this planet. Within those millions you find an even
larger number of intersecting relationships that define who those individuals are. Although as
humans we are forever changing no matter the age, it can be argued that a large part of our
development is found during the earlier years. The decision whether to come together in pairs or to
be independent is particularly important as humans. Erikson's theory calls this Intimacy vs.
Isolation. In the text HDEV 4, Intimacy vs Isolation can be defined as the "central conflict...of early
adulthood, in which a person develops an intimate relationship with a significant other or risks
heading down a path toward social isolation" (Rathus, 2016). This can be ... Show more content on

She has lived in a battle of Intimacy vs. Isolation for a lifetime. As she has always been independent
and suffered from depression, a side effect has been severe feelings of isolation. She is extremely
independent and experiences intimacy in unusual ways. She has the capability of developing deep

comes and goes in waves as she goes through periods of rekindling intimate relationships with
family and friends just to ebb back into the isolation that swallows her. She often chooses to avoid
the idea that her behavior is not of the norm and instead actively denies her own behavior as the
cause of her wavering social activity. Due to the examples that my parents have set with their
struggling against Intimacy vs. Isolation I too experience these differently. I suffered from great
feelings of isolation and depression for many years until a recent personal revolution, and proper
medication, pushed me across the line of intimacy. I remain extremely independent while also being
able to, for the most part, balance intimate relationships. As I find myself further maturing with
growing friendships, a close–knit work environment, and community involvement the issues of
isolation fade while deep feelings of self–worth and identity

There are many names attributed to the Holy Spirit such as Comforter, Spirit of Peace, sanctifier,
revealer, and Spirit of Life. These attributes are also pointed out in the book by Rick Renner.
Throughout scripture there are also many symbols that are attributed to the Holy Spirit both in the
Old and New Testaments. The Holy Spirit is described as the Oil (Luke 4: 14–18), as the Dove
(when Jesus was baptized) Matthew 10:16. The Living Water also describes the Holy Spirit in John
4:4. In addition, there are many works accomplished by the Holy Spirit both historically and
currently. The Holy Spirit was part of creation as well as the source of the prophecy as told by the
prophets of the Old Testament. Probably the greatest work of the Holy Spirit was the inspiration of
scripture, the very word of God, through men. The Holy Spirit works in our lives everyday. He first
of all gives life to our spirit when we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior (Eph 1: 13,14). The Holy
Spirit also seals us unto the day of redemption when we are saved (Eph 4:30) The Holy Spirit is the
agent of the Trinity that works in our lives to work out our salvation, walk in holiness, and by which
we are baptized by Christ. The Holy Spirit baptizes us into the family of God when we are saved but
Christ is the one that baptizes us in the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1: 8). The program of study also gives

Foucault describes modality as the act of controlling how bodies move, the process they perform,
and how they enact them through which disciplines works. I partially agree with Foucault because
yes! There are some movements, body performance like dancing, playing musical instruments, etc.
that can be controlled, but there are some other common actions like when we are sad, we are
crying, then that sympathy part of our nature comes into play, and its almost impossible to control
our emotions and the body actions at that time. We all know that body is the subject of attention.
Now, however, the body is not subject to torture but to forces of discipline and control. It is very

true that it can act as sympathy agent during the time of pain or suffering, and there is some sort of

Intimacy Vs. Isolation
Psychosocial crisis: Intimacy vs. Isolation: The psychosocial crisis during early adulthood is
intimacy vs. isolation. Intimacy is defined as the ability to experience an open, supportive, tender
relationship with another person without fear of losing one's own identity in the process (Newman &
Newman p. 468). Intimacy shares a bond between two people displaying confidence, respectful
affection and shared goals. It is two people respecting each other's differences and spiritual beliefs.
Intimacy accepts each other's flaws and experience a love outside of family. Isolation is the feeling

Intimacy And Culture And Intimacy
Intimacy and Culture The definition of the word intimacy is one that is highly disputed. It is said
that the term intimacy itself gives insight into its meaning. When the word is read as "into–me–see,"
it can be deduced that achieving this level of connection requires one to disclose parts of himself to
another person or group of people. To me, intimacy is the level of connection that is attained
between two parties when one reveals a part of himself that he would only share after gaining a
sense of confidence with the other, and the sense of acceptance displayed by the one receiving this
information. Intimacy is not merely the admission of "secrets", but rather the mutual trust that
comes from these revelations. Gillette (1990) lists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Such a relationship requires a strong degree of intimacy. The issues discussed with this advisor are
likely personal, and without the strong bond and trust that this sort of relationship forms, the mentee
will shy away from the help he so badly needs. Personally, I sought guidance from people I deemed
intelligent, open–minded, and accepting. They became the sounding boards of my frustrations, my

perceiving and reacting to an emotional situation. My culture helped me develop a unique
understanding of intimacy. Society and media seems to have equated intimacy with romance. While
the latter entails that both parties express similar amounts of their innermost layers, the former
relationship only requires one party to share. How the other party responds to the disclosure will
determine the degree of the intimacy the pair will achieve. It must be clarified that intimacy does not
only occur between two individuals. Such a relationship can form between groups as well, as long as
the conditions of openness and positive regard are met. One significant concept discussed in the
Leadership and Group Dynamics class that relates to my definition of intimacy is splitting. This
refers to the thought process of dividing the world into that which is beneficial and that which is

January 13, 2012 is the day when tears ran down my cheeks and feeling the wind rush against my

Intimacy In Miller's Tale
Per the Middle English Dictionary, the word "privetee" has varying degrees of meaning. The word
"privetee" contains connotations of privacy, secrecy, and sexual affairs. In the "Miller's Tale,"
Chaucer explores the secret spheres of privacy and intimacy. Within these secret spheres there lie
three tiers of exploration: the mental, emotional, and physical. In effect, the word "privetee"
effortlessly weaves together the actions of each character in relation to their respective pursuits of
intimacy. Likewise, it draws attention to the importance of private spaces within the Carpenter's
home and its impact on the story. The private spaces of the Carpenter's home are given meaning by

at the screen and I got first place! My baby got second, but I still beat him. The paper's in this

POETIC," because that's an inside joke we have. One time when Jackson and I were texting, I wrote
a long sentimental paragraph about how much I loved him and he replied with, "Sameee." We
always laugh at that because I basically wrote him a novel and he wrote one word. So he eventually
made the comment, "Wow, I'm so poetic." Then, he started actually being poetic and said really
sweet things, (like he always does), and so that kind of became an inside joke. I started calling him
"Mr. Poetic" and he started calling me "Ms. Poetic." So, that is why that was my code name during

Robert's Intimacy
Intimacy involves much more than surface interaction and that it is the act of active listening which
inspires understanding and devotion. In the story, the narrator finds it confusing that his wife is so
attached to her blind friend, Robert. He is bewildered that her relationship with Robert has endured
through her previous divorce and has even now interfered upon their marriage. the story is narrated
in the first person by an unnamed man and from the beginning of the story the reader realizes how
detached the narrator is. Not only is he displeased with the fact that Robert is visiting but the reader
also senses that in some ways the narrator is also jealous of the connection that his wife has with
Robert. If anything the narrator views Robert's ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Almost never is anything written about the underlying social implications of marriage and
relationships. It is worthwhile to note that this story quietly shows that in the exclusiveness of
marriage, certain "outside relationships" can either cultivate or destroy lives depending on the
relationship shared by a married couple. A lot of troubled marriages continue to crumble because
spouses fail to try to solve their problems. However, this is not to say that marriages are an easy
undertaking. In the story, Robert acts as a catalyst to bring the couple's marital problems up to the
surface. He is not the root cause of the married couple's disputes as the narrator wrongly thinks. As
Raymond Carver has demonstrated in "Cathedral," close outside friendships can threaten marital
relationships by provoking insecurities, creating feelings of invasion of privacy, and aggravating
communication barriers. But the story also suggests that if those who are married share a mutual
understanding of their expectations and boundaries this need not happen. In addition, congenial
relationships outside marriage such as friendships should complement a nurturing and loving
relationship between a man and his

The Exploration Of Privacy And Intimacy
Google me! The exploration of privacy and intimacy in social media
"Never put too much information online. You never know who will try to take advantage of it." I
must admit, my father's word of advice sounds like a broken record repeating itself; expressing this
to me so many times. Even though he is right. What I mean to say is that the advancement with
Social Media over the years has been slowly (but surely) affecting us in real life. Considering the
fact that companies and everyday people assess you based on your social media profile and online
history. In essence, this violates the right of privacy as well as inhibiting the need of intimacy with
other people; prompting me to explore what I had disclosed publicly via Google and Facebook.
Have I shared too much information? Will it affect me with future opportunities? The only thing I
can do is keep my fingers crossed, and hope for the best.
Generally Speaking, very few people on Earth are unaware about Google. Being that it is the largest
search engine as of today; organizing global information to make it accessible for everyone (Google,
01). Regarding this, I searched for my name; curious to see what information the online web has of
me. However, the results were almost nonexistent. In other words, when the search was complete,
very little links were associated to me specifically. Rather, Google presented another woman named
Arlene Blum. Nobody can mistake me for her since she was born in March 1st, 1945, but her

Isolation Vs Intimacy
Intimacy is known to be a close familiarity or friendship, closeness also known as a private cozy
atmosphere. Isolations is the process or fact of isolating or being isolated, or the complete separation
from others of a person suffering from contagious or infectious disease; quarantine. When it comes
to intimacy versus isolation I believe that we are humans will experience this throughout our
livelihood. We as humans go through different stages and one of those stages are our interest in
intimacy and then isolation follows. It has been stated that when we go through these stages of
intimacy and isolation it is most likely during our early twenty's, this is because young adults

that you can trust them. I was always told beware of your surroundings. First off in my own opinion
you have to prove to me that you are trustworthy and so much more. We all would love to have great

when isolation and mistrust plays a role. Matthew 7:15–20, beware if false prophets, which come to
you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits.
Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good

On the other side, PDA has already become natural and merely accepted for most of the young
adults according to Cheryl Wittier's article posted last April 2011.
Showing affection in public can be determined by different acts of intimacy. It can be anywhere
from a whisper to a shout. It can also range anywhere from a touch of hands to a touch of
somewhere else (Wu, 2001).
PDA is very common, but still an unaccepted act. According to www.eromance.com, there are
different degrees of showing affection which are commonly observed in public. There are acts that
have been observed by the society without being neither offended nor disgusted. On the other hand,
there are also types of PDA which easily annoy people.
Soenarie and Fehr–Snyder (2008) listed the accepted acts of PDA in the society. Talking in the
hallways is accepted as long no one is disturbed. It is okay to shakehands, give a "man hug" by
patting someone on the back and place an arm around one's shoulder or "hook hug". They can also
hold hands and link arms in public. Giving hugs no longer than two seconds is acceptable as
respecting one's point of view.
Affection is not for public exhibition. Charlene Wu, on the other hand, listed some of the unaccepted
acts of PDA in the chapter 5 of her article in public display of affection. Kissing is fine as long as it
is not more than a peck on the lip. Passionate kissing and beyond in public is not acceptable. Sitting

The Social Penetration Theory Of Intimacy
The rise of social media has done many beneficial and many detrimental things to the world of
relationships and communication. Social media has allowed people the ability to connect around the
world, gain new perspectives on different cultures and has changed the status quo of the dating
world. These days people look for significant connection by the swipe of their finger and the
physical attractiveness one has prepared for their viewers. Due to social media we find that little by
little people are no longer going out and enjoying a venue to find a relationship but instead are
staying in the comfort of their homes viewing profiles and having perfectly articulated
conversations. Therefore, the content within this paper will argue that social media has robbed
relationships within the social penetration theory of intimacy and authenticity which ultimately
misconstrues our understanding and our validation of the social penetration theory. First and
foremost, to understand how social media misconstrues the understanding of social penetration
theory one must know what social penetration theory is. In short, this theory "illustrates a pattern of
relationship development" while linking the definition of social penetration which is "a process of
bonding that moves a relationship from superficial to more intimate" (West and Lynn 171). The
definition of intimacy is also addressed and can be summarized as more than physically intimate – it
can be intellectual, emotional and

Melchior Intimacy
physical intimacy between Wendla and Melchior, but the intimacy of sharing knowledge, being open
to another intellectually, as well as the designed intimacy of the structure of the musical as an
ensemble cast and group. It seems to me that intimacy is at the core of much of the musical's action.
For example, beyond the physical intimacy of Wendla and Melchior and Hanschen and Ernst,
Wendela's abortion and its lack of intimacy – especially in this production at Bucknell University,
where Frau Bergman arranges the procedure without Wendla even onstage and later Wendla being
pulled off by her abortionist – is juxtaposed by Wendela's preceding song: "Had a sweetheart on his
knees, / So faithful and adoring. / And he touched me and I let him love me / So ... Show more

I would go so far to argue that Melchior's song "All That's Known" is one of the most stark
examples of intimacy in the entire musical. In this song, Melchior rejects the lack of intimacy in his
education, the lack of intimacy offered to him by his elders, especially in their refusal to give him
the knowledge he desires, to talk to him about something important. There's a yearning in this song
for an adult to pay Melchior the mind he needs, to allow him the room to intellectually grow in their
society, and to help him achieve more knowledge – even while he vows to become better in spite of
the older generation's complete disregard for his intellectual wellbeing. My favorite moment from
the musical, however, has little directly to do with this main theme of intimacy besides arguably
being a product of a lack of it. It is one of the most stunning lines and is, of course, delivered by my
favorite character, Moritz. At the end of his song "Don't Do Sadness," Moritz decides once and for
all to take his own life in lieu of what he views as other options. Before he pulls the trigger, he has

The key to a well oiled team is a mix of diverse personalities. No matter the type of organization, it
is essential each person who belongs to it blends well and does their part to better themselves as a
whole. There are a million types of teams, from football to dog racing and everything inbetween.
My dog team consists of four fantastic dogs, each of which have their own spunky personalities.
Boss, a man of wisdom, is the eldest of all the others. Monster, is a vicious licker and will cuddle
people to death. Cinno (Ch–EEN–Oh) is the wild child, the one who is always wreaking havoc. Last
but not least, D.O.G (Dee–Oh–Gee), the youngest and most hardheaded dog on the team. Every
team needs someone to lead them and show them the way, typically it is the oldest or the one with
the most experience, which is why Boss is my leader. He is at the front of my line, teaching the
younger dogs and providing them with a good example to learn by. At home, he is a joyful dog and
loves to be pet, but when Boss is at races, there is no fooling around. He is there to race and finish
the job. Boss is so focused on the race when I am harnessing him. He does not make eye contact
with me, he stares at the sled. I imagine he is envisioning himself crossing the finish line in first
place. When I try to fire him up by petting him, he simply wraps his leg around mine and holds me
there. Boss's name suits him perfectly. He acts like he is the boss of the team. During hook up, it is

else sees it. As said by Michael J. Formica a counselor and therapist "social media introduces two
parallel and paradoxical elements" false intimacy and social distance. Some people could state that
social media could create a deep relationship for various reasons. With all of the different insights
that one would get from social media on someone's life could make them feel closer and connected

Personal Intimacy Analysis
In my own words, intimacy would mean the closeness that u feel with another person, whether it be
your significant other, family, or friends. That's how I would define it. However, the textbook
defines intimacy as "the feelings of closeness that result from a transactional process between
partners' self–disclosure and responsiveness (Marshall 2008) The definition to the textbook is
similar to my own definition, how it adds on that intimacy also is a process, which is also stated in
the textbook: "Developing intimacy is a process, as it is dynamic and ever changing." (Welch, 145)
This means that intimacy changes, and that it won't be the same now as it will 5 years later from
now. As of now, the most important type of intimacy to me is being intimate. The textbook defines
this as "capable of experiencing closeness, forming an emotional attachment to another and is

I want to be able to form an emotional attachment to someone and be able to express that emotional
attachment and make a commitment to someone, for example my family. The other four intimacy
statuses, pseudo intimate, preintimates, stereotyped relationships, and isolates are less important to
me. Being isolated is the least important to me. The textbook describes isolates as "people who are
socially withdrawn and have no apparent need for either social or close interpersonal interactions."
(Welch, 149) The reason this is the least important to me is because I used to be like this. I used to
think I didn't want to be close to be someone and I didn't need a close relationship with anyone, not
even my family. However, I found out that I was just really lonely and I did actually crave a close,

Intimacy And Intimacy Relationship
What is intimate relationship? Intimacy is about being emotionally close to your partner , about
being able to let your guard down , and let him or her know how you really feel . Intimacy is also
about being able to accept and share in your partner's feelings , about being there when he/she wants
to let their defences down . To be able to share our 'inner–world' with a partner we love, and to be
able to share our partner's experiences, is one of the most rewarding aspects of a relationship.
Intimacy often doesn't need words, but being able to put feelings and experiences into words makes
intimacy more likely to occur. Intimacy involves being able to share the whole range of feelings and

Intimacy In Relationships: Article Analysis
Intimacy is a sense of closeness that is shared with your spouse. When it comes down to intimacy,
you choose to be loved, loving and vulnerable to your partner. According to Balswick & Balswick,
"sexuality and spirituality are closely linked to a couple intimacy" (2008, pg. 191). Developing
intimacy in relationships is, therefore, a clear knowledge of your own and your spouse preferences
and a willingness to put time into the relationship. Nevertheless, we are human and being human
comes with life stressors that can have a toll on our relationships. In the article, Intimacy, marital

According to HS 203 Sexual Biology & Good Health, by Hager, D., (2017), four types of love a
person can have, friendship (philoe), family/ caring concern (storge), sacrificial (agape), and sexual
(eros). Authentic relationships have all four types of love. Loving your friend in a caring and
concern manner that you are willing to sacrifice and do anything for that person, wherein, eventually
you realize that that person is someone that you would like to spend the rest of your life with.
Therefore, that love you have intensifies in a sexual love. Now, that type of love is for a husband
and wife that God has ordained in a marriage. According to Hager, D., there are 12 steps of bonding
to develop intimacy in a couple's relationship. The first eight steps which includes eye to body, eye
to eye contact, hand to hand contact, voice to voice, arm to shoulder, arm to waist, hand to head, or
hand to head contact are steps that are appropriately taken when you are practicing abstinence.
However, when you are in a permanent relationship becoming familiar with your spouse's body,
having sexual contact and stimulation that eventually leads to sexual intercourse are appropriate
steps to have an intimate bond with your spouse. Proceeding to these steps should be slow and in the

Intimacy Gaps
1) A positive correlation that can be made between college education and income is that individuals
who have completed more years of education, ensuring mastery of their field, have a greater chance
of obtaining employment with higher earning potential. Likewise, the desire to secure higher income
in the future stimulates the drive of some college students to invest more time into studying giving
them the potential to earn higher grades which leads to a higher GPA, something that employers
consider when judging applicants. There could also be a hidden variable such as one's work ethic
and an innate higher level of skill, which causes them to excel whether they are highly educated or
not. It is my belief that the most likely correlation of the three is the hidden variable of work ethic.
An individual with very little formal education or who was a "C" student at best that has a great
work ethic and natural skill in there field of choice has just as much of an opportunity to work hard
and eventually earn the higher income.

Overcoming Intimacy Barriers In Relationships
How do two stranger that barely know or trust each other become one another's best friend or soul
mate? How does a woman who had been abused or a man who was taken advantage of learn to trust
other partner with their bare unprotected self? Overcoming the intimacy barriers in a relationship of
any form is a very important step to the healthy growth of that relationship and the people involved.
Intimacy barriers come in many different forms, they are very solvable and I have personally let my
own barriers hold me back from the people I love.
Intimacy is a hard task for some people to accomplish. The meaning of intimacy is "into–me–see".
(1) "It's a blending of our heart with another's, so we can "see into" who they really are, and they can
"see into" us." (1) On the flip side of intimacy is an intimacy barrier which is when a person puts
road blocks up so that there is a harder path, or no way at all to connect with their true self. Without
the ability to be transparent to other people, there will be not solid foundation for the relationship to
be built on. Intimacy barriers can come in many different forms. Some of these barriers may come
out with stress, anger, addiction, miscommunication and or lack of confidence. Each of these along
with the many other forms are all very harmful to a relationship if not dealt with properly. An
example of a lack of confidence being and intimacy barrier would be if a couple goes out to the

Intimacy And Relationships With Intimacy
Intimacy plays an important role in couple's relationships. Couples frequently complain about an
absence of intimate feelings as their issue, which is one of the risk factors that can genuinely harm
romantic relationships (Prager, 1995). Intimacy concerns can help other interpersonal issues in
relationships, for example, desire and a lack of a sense of security from their intimate partner
(Crowe, 1997). Schnarch (2011) stated: "There is always a low desire sexual partner, just as there is
always a high desire sexual partner and there is one of each in every couple's relationship" (p.9).
One partner normally wants to engage in sexual activities more than the other partner, which creates
a friction in the relationship because both partners often do not want the same thing. For instance,
Schnarch said that "one partner normally the high desire sexual partner wants to do something
whether it be sex or engage in intimate acts, whereas, the low desire sexual partner does not want to
engage in the same sexual act as the high desire partner" (p.9). However, this does not have to relate
only to sex, because both partners play a major role in the relationship, and once there is conflict, it
can be clear which partner fills which position in the relationship (whether it may pertain to sex,
chores around the house, going on dates, etc.). Furthermore, in relationships, positions shift for
various issues encountered in the partnership; for instance, one partner may be the HDP for sex,

Descriptive Essay About A White House
Driving down the path, lined with small American flags, I began to see the large white house. It is
quite an old house, however there were a few additions added. My mom pulled into the parking lot
of a driveway and started taking food out of the trunk and bringing it into the house. I could have
helped her, but instead I decided that I wanted to bring my luggage in and put it in the room that was
assigned for me. I jogged back down the stairs and was greeted by my uncle's girlfriend, Sandy.
Sandy is a wonderful, gentle, and kind woman who happens to be a good baker. She gave me a hug
and kissed my forehead, asking me how my trip was, and I told her that I slept the entire ride to
Maryland. After hearing this, she laughed and walked out on to the enclosed porch area. I walked
through the kitchen, grabbing a cup of water, and asked my mom when my dad would be getting
her. She told me that he would be here in two days because he must pick up a surprise; disappointed,
I walked outside and was greeted by the farm cat Tala, she is a very loving cat, even though she only
has one eye. I started petting her, and even held her for a little bit, playing with her tail and rubbing
her ears, anything to get her to stay cuddling with me. After about 10 minutes went by, she ran off,
chasing a bird. Standing up from my spot on the stairs, I headed towards the pool area assuming that
is where my uncle's voice is originating from, and I was correct, he was at his Tiki bar, making

Today we observe the laws of the land play out. Every action taken by a person here is controlled by

Therefore I sit here all day pondering about the things no one ever sees. Two men holding hands.

Turkle On Intimacy

  • 1. Turkle On Intimacy 1) According to the author of the study and the TedTalk you heard, what effects are "smart phones" (ability to instantly chat, text, check emails, etc) having on intimacy? What are your thoughts on what you heard and read? Sherry Turkle makes the point that there is an immediate sense of connection that we get when we receive a text from someone far away. However, activities such as checking smartphones and emails can provide individuals with the ability to disconnect from having intimacy even when individuals are right next to each other. It allows for individuals to be selective about what they pay attention to in their daily lives. This is probably because we can easily escape the here and now through the use of a technology. Turkle argues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I believe that it is because of my Dominican heritage and the sense of connection that derives from being with someone in person. I have found myself having arguments with my mother because she views it as a duty for family members to visit each other in a regular basis. To not do so is almost a violation of a moral code. She at times gives me "the talk" which is to let me know that I have not visited my (insert a close relative) in a few weeks. While calling is something that my family has done to connect with those back in the Dominican Republic, it has been underutilized with close family members. Like in many Dominican families, strong family bonds are fostered in face–to– face interactions. When it is not present, there are efforts to increase this time of communication such as "the talk" that I feel happens to more acculturated ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Intimacy Definition them. They are a protection from outside threats. Sometimes people erect emotional walls to protect themselves from the encroachment of others upon their personal space. They are afraid that if someone enters their personal space, that someone might cause harm or dominate them. But if there is no threat from another, there is no need to erect these emotional walls. In fact there is joy in allowing someone to share one's own personal space. Sharing this space in a non–threatening way is called intimacy. It is natural for a rational, free person to long for intimacy and to rejoice in it. Intimacy requires no emotional walls, yet intimacy still implies consideration of personal borders, that is, the point at which one person leaves off and another begins. Recognizing and respecting these boundaries goes to the very heart of a person's sense of identity and self–worth. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Naturally the person feels violated. That person would have no negative concerns had he or she voluntarily shared his or her food. But to have someone take it without permission is experienced as a disrespect of the owner's dignity because the food was identified with the owner, and to take it is to disrespect the owner's personal sovereignty. This feeling of being put upon stems from a person's natural sense of having a personal space, which refers directly to that person's unique self. This space defines where a person's self–determination and self–management reside. It marks a person's unique way of being in the world, that is, his or her autonomy, and it authorizes a person to speak of what's in this personal space as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Intimacy In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet In the play Romeo and juliet by William Shakespeare Romeo is a young man and still has time to discover intimacy. Romeo and Juliet on the first day were talking about getting married which they are still teenagers, and Romeo and Juliet could be making decisions that they will regret in the future. Romeo and juliet should get to know each other before getting married or dating . Romeo and Juliet's love is artificial because it is too fast paced and real love takes time to develop. During the play the capulets throw a party and romeo attends. After the party Romeo sneaks to the back of the house over the orchard walls and tries to talk to Juliet. True love takes time to grow and Romeo wants her love right away. Juliet is being careful and is thinking ahead rather than Romeo, he is being airy. If Romeo was really in love with juliet he would respect her decision. Romeo Barely knows Juliet that's why she said that it is to sudden. Juliet wants to wait and see if it works out because romeo could get over and find a different girl quickly and Juliet does not want that to happen. At another point in the scene Romeo is still talking to Juliet in the back of the house , in the orchard about his love to Juliet. But Juliet is still second guessing Romeos intimacy for her. Romeo and juliet in this scene of the play are talking about how he got there, and why he has so much intimacy . During the scene Juliet describes that she is being," too quickly won". (I.3) Juliet thinks that she is giving into his love way to fast. Which she is right because Romeo was in infatuated with Rosaline and he claimed the he loved her so much but got over her way too quick. Juliet does not want that to happen with her and she is being cautious which is good. Juliet wants to get to know him first before they get married ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. The Pros And Cons Of Intimacy I am of two minds about the statement that "Internet–based technology, including mobile and computer–based technology, produces greater intimacy among people". On the one hand, I agree that online communication can produce intimacy among people. On the other hand, I am not sure whether they will be able to maintain that intimacy only through these online communications and it will be a greater intimacy as stated. My reasons are intimacy may be created virtually but can be maintained only via physical encounter, even though there is increased self–disclosure there can be misinterpretations also, and internet is a way to meet people with same interests, opinions, and views , but may not be safe. Intimacy is one of the main reason, why people stay together, even after great arguments and conflicts. Probably it is easy to create intimacy, but to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Essay about Hands time changes final Devan Gadevaia December 6, 2014 Final essay #4 Topic #1 English 203k Fall 2014 Hands: time changes Sherwood Anderson's story "Hands" is primarily concerned with innocence and guilt. Ochani Lele states "A pair of hands can create, inspire, instill dreams; while those same hands can destroy, diffuse, and install nightmares." (Lele) Through Anderson's "Hands" it suggest that something innocent can be quickly distorted into something grotesque. The towns people ran Myers out of town. • 15. Intimacy In Looking For Alaska One hundred thirty–six days before. We meet a loner, though not by choice but circumstance, named Miles Halter. He knows there is more to the world than just the little, uneventful excuse that has made up his years thus far. His unique hobby of memorizing last words may contribute to Miles sense of urgency in seeking the "Great Perhaps"(Green 5). He needs something more, something that challenges him. Looking for this, Miles goes to Culver Creek boarding school, where he finds his perhaps in a girl named Alaska Young, and this is where the book Looking for Alaska's story begins to unfold its intricate layers of narrative. Though it is possible for a middle schooler to read this book, themes such as intimacy, suffering, and closure resound ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With these two interactions we see the differences of physical intimacy vs. emotional intimacy. Even though Alaska and Miles where never physically intimate, besides a quick kiss, the emotions flowing through him as it happened where much more lively and intense than when Miles had his "hog smoked" (Green 129). When Alaska falls asleep atop of Miles that same night, he says, "I love you Alaska Young" (Green 131). Love is something Miles never expresses for Lara because they lacked the emotional intimacy that Alaska and Miles shared. Now whether or not sixth graders would comprehend the complex theme of intimacy is not likely. The book requires the reader to understand intimacy in a context pass the inert idealism of middle schoolers and most high schoolers. Just because someone is sexually active does not mean they fully grasp the emotional connectivity that two people romantically share. Even though a sixth grader could definitely have the ability to read the words in this book, it's likely that a central theme needed to understand Miles actions later in the book would go completely unnoticed by someone so young of an age, in fact it nearly went over my own head whilst reading. Moran, author of "Interracial Intimacy," argues that "the freedom to love across the color line is a recent phenomenon in American history." As late as the 1960s, U.S. states had the power to prohibit races from intermarrying, at one point, mostly all 50 states have banned interracial marriages. During the colonial era, anti–miscegenation laws were used to define the differences between whites and blacks; the statutes aimed at keeping racial privilege. It was not until 1967 that anti– miscegenation laws were overruled by the Supreme Court in Loving v. Virginia. Furthermore, several other factors contributed to the overruling of statutes ... Within those millions you find an even larger number of intersecting relationships that define who those individuals are. Although as humans we are forever changing no matter the age, it can be argued that a large part of our development is found during the earlier years. The decision whether to come together in pairs or to be independent is particularly important as humans. Erikson's theory calls this Intimacy vs. Isolation. As she has always been independent and suffered from depression, a side effect has been severe feelings of isolation. She is extremely independent and experiences intimacy in unusual ways. She has the capability of developing deep lifelong friendships but automatically pushes herself away without given cause. Her social behavior comes and goes in waves as she goes through periods of rekindling intimate relationships with family and friends just to ebb back into the isolation that swallows her. She often chooses to avoid the idea that her behavior is not of the norm and instead actively denies her own behavior as the cause of her wavering social activity. Due to the examples that my parents have set with their struggling against Intimacy vs. Isolation I too experience these differently. I suffered from great feelings of isolation and depression for many years until a recent personal revolution, and proper medication, pushed me across the line of intimacy. I remain extremely independent while also being able to, for the most part, balance intimate relationships. As I find myself further maturing with growing friendships, a close–knit work environment, and community involvement the issues of isolation fade while deep feelings of self–worth and identity ... These attributes are also pointed out in the book by Rick Renner. Throughout scripture there are also many symbols that are attributed to the Holy Spirit both in the Old and New Testaments. The Holy Spirit is described as the Oil (Luke 4: 14–18), as the Dove (when Jesus was baptized) Matthew 10:16. The Living Water also describes the Holy Spirit in John 4:4. In addition, there are many works accomplished by the Holy Spirit both historically and currently. The Holy Spirit was part of creation as well as the source of the prophecy as told by the prophets of the Old Testament. Probably the greatest work of the Holy Spirit was the inspiration of scripture, the very word of God, through men. The Holy Spirit works in our lives everyday. He first of all gives life to our spirit when we receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior (Eph 1: 13,14). The Holy Spirit also seals us unto the day of redemption when we are saved (Eph 4:30) The Holy Spirit is the agent of the Trinity that works in our lives to work out our salvation, walk in holiness, and by which we are baptized by Christ. The Holy Spirit baptizes us into the family of God when we are saved but Christ is the one that baptizes us in the Holy Spirit (Matthew 1: 8). Foucault describes modality as the act of controlling how bodies move, the process they perform, and how they enact them through which disciplines works. I partially agree with Foucault because yes! There are some movements, body performance like dancing, playing musical instruments, etc. that can be controlled, but there are some other common actions like when we are sad, we are crying, then that sympathy part of our nature comes into play, and its almost impossible to control our emotions and the body actions at that time. Intimacy is defined as the ability to experience an open, supportive, tender relationship with another person without fear of losing one's own identity in the process (Newman & Newman p. 468). • 31. Intimacy And Culture And Intimacy Intimacy and Culture The definition of the word intimacy is one that is highly disputed. It is said that the term intimacy itself gives insight into its meaning. When the word is read as "into–me–see," it can be deduced that achieving this level of connection requires one to disclose parts of himself to another person or group of people. To me, intimacy is the level of connection that is attained between two parties when one reveals a part of himself that he would only share after gaining a sense of confidence with the other, and the sense of acceptance displayed by the one receiving this information. Intimacy is not merely the admission of "secrets", but rather the mutual trust that comes from these revelations. Gillette (1990) lists ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They became the sounding boards of my frustrations, my confidantes, and my source for objectivity when intense emotions prevented me from clearly perceiving and reacting to an emotional situation. My culture helped me develop a unique understanding of intimacy. Society and media seems to have equated intimacy with romance. While the latter entails that both parties express similar amounts of their innermost layers, the former relationship only requires one party to share. How the other party responds to the disclosure will determine the degree of the intimacy the pair will achieve. It must be clarified that intimacy does not only occur between two individuals. Such a relationship can form between groups as well, as long as the conditions of openness and positive regard are met. The word "privetee" contains connotations of privacy, secrecy, and sexual affairs. In the "Miller's Tale," Chaucer explores the secret spheres of privacy and intimacy. Within these secret spheres there lie three tiers of exploration: the mental, emotional, and physical. • 48. The Social Penetration Theory Of Intimacy The rise of social media has done many beneficial and many detrimental things to the world of relationships and communication. Social media has allowed people the ability to connect around the world, gain new perspectives on different cultures and has changed the status quo of the dating world. These days people look for significant connection by the swipe of their finger and the physical attractiveness one has prepared for their viewers. Due to social media we find that little by little people are no longer going out and enjoying a venue to find a relationship but instead are staying in the comfort of their homes viewing profiles and having perfectly articulated conversations. Therefore, the content within this paper will argue that social media has robbed relationships within the social penetration theory of intimacy and authenticity which ultimately misconstrues our understanding and our validation of the social penetration theory. First and foremost, to understand how social media misconstrues the understanding of social penetration theory one must know what social penetration theory is. In short, this theory "illustrates a pattern of relationship development" while linking the definition of social penetration which is "a process of bonding that moves a relationship from superficial to more intimate" (West and Lynn 171). For example, beyond the physical intimacy of Wendla and Melchior and Hanschen and Ernst, Wendela's abortion and its lack of intimacy – especially in this production at Bucknell University, where Frau Bergman arranges the procedure without Wendla even onstage and later Wendla being pulled off by her abortionist – is juxtaposed by Wendela's preceding song: "Had a sweetheart on his knees, / So faithful and adoring. / And he touched me and I let him love me / So ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I would go so far to argue that Melchior's song "All That's Known" is one of the most stark examples of intimacy in the entire musical. In this song, Melchior rejects the lack of intimacy in his education, the lack of intimacy offered to him by his elders, especially in their refusal to give him the knowledge he desires, to talk to him about something important. There's a yearning in this song for an adult to pay Melchior the mind he needs, to allow him the room to intellectually grow in their society, and to help him achieve more knowledge – even while he vows to become better in spite of the older generation's complete disregard for his intellectual wellbeing. My favorite moment from the musical, however, has little directly to do with this main theme of intimacy besides arguably being a product of a lack of it. It is one of the most stunning lines and is, of course, delivered by my favorite character, Moritz. • 64. Intimacy In Relationships: Article Analysis Intimacy is a sense of closeness that is shared with your spouse. When it comes down to intimacy, you choose to be loved, loving and vulnerable to your partner. According to Balswick & Balswick, "sexuality and spirituality are closely linked to a couple intimacy" (2008, pg. 191). Developing intimacy in relationships is, therefore, a clear knowledge of your own and your spouse preferences and a willingness to put time into the relationship. Nevertheless, we are human and being human comes with life stressors that can have a toll on our relationships. In the article, Intimacy, marital satisfaction, and third party imagined interactions: Imagination, Cognition and Personality, authors Berkos, K. M., & Denham, J., says that "the stresses of everyday ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to HS 203 Sexual Biology & Good Health, by Hager, D., (2017), four types of love a person can have, friendship (philoe), family/ caring concern (storge), sacrificial (agape), and sexual (eros). Authentic relationships have all four types of love. Loving your friend in a caring and concern manner that you are willing to sacrifice and do anything for that person, wherein, eventually you realize that that person is someone that you would like to spend the rest of your life with. Therefore, that love you have intensifies in a sexual love. Now, that type of love is for a husband and wife that God has ordained in a marriage. According to Hager, D., there are 12 steps of bonding to develop intimacy in a couple's relationship. The first eight steps which includes eye to body, eye to eye contact, hand to hand contact, voice to voice, arm to shoulder, arm to waist, hand to head, or hand to head contact are steps that are appropriately taken when you are practicing abstinence. However, when you are in a permanent relationship becoming familiar with your spouse's body, having sexual contact and stimulation that eventually leads to sexual intercourse are appropriate steps to have an intimate bond with your spouse. Proceeding to these steps should be slow and in the order ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 66. Intimacy Gaps 1) A positive correlation that can be made between college education and income is that individuals who have completed more years of education, ensuring mastery of their field, have a greater chance of obtaining employment with higher earning potential. Likewise, the desire to secure higher income in the future stimulates the drive of some college students to invest more time into studying giving them the potential to earn higher grades which leads to a higher GPA, something that employers consider when judging applicants. There could also be a hidden variable such as one's work ethic and an innate higher level of skill, which causes them to excel whether they are highly educated or not. It is my belief that the most likely correlation of the three is the hidden variable of work ethic. An individual with very little formal education or who was a "C" student at best that has a great work ethic and natural skill in there field of choice has just as much of an opportunity to work hard and eventually earn the higher income. 2) Two positive correlations that can be made between exercise and weight loss are that the more/longer a person runs the more calories ... • 70. Overcoming Intimacy Barriers In Relationships How do two stranger that barely know or trust each other become one another's best friend or soul mate? How does a woman who had been abused or a man who was taken advantage of learn to trust other partner with their bare unprotected self? Overcoming the intimacy barriers in a relationship of any form is a very important step to the healthy growth of that relationship and the people involved. Intimacy barriers come in many different forms, they are very solvable and I have personally let my own barriers hold me back from the people I love. Intimacy is a hard task for some people to accomplish. The meaning of intimacy is "into–me–see". (1) "It's a blending of our heart with another's, so we can "see into" who they really are, and they can "see into" us." (1) On the flip side of intimacy is an intimacy barrier which is when a person puts road blocks up so that there is a harder path, or no way at all to connect with their true self. Without the ability to be transparent to other people, there will be not solid foundation for the relationship to be built on. Intimacy barriers can come in many different forms. Some of these barriers may come out with stress, anger, addiction, miscommunication and or lack of confidence. Each of these along with the many other forms are all very harmful to a relationship if not dealt with properly. An example of a lack of confidence being and intimacy barrier would be if a couple goes out to the movies and out of nowhere the the boyfriend gets ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 72. Intimacy And Relationships With Intimacy Intimacy plays an important role in couple's relationships. Couples frequently complain about an absence of intimate feelings as their issue, which is one of the risk factors that can genuinely harm romantic relationships (Prager, 1995). Intimacy concerns can help other interpersonal issues in relationships, for example, desire and a lack of a sense of security from their intimate partner (Crowe, 1997). Schnarch (2011) stated: "There is always a low desire sexual partner, just as there is always a high desire sexual partner and there is one of each in every couple's relationship" (p.9). One partner normally wants to engage in sexual activities more than the other partner, which creates a friction in the relationship because both partners often do not want the same thing. For instance, Schnarch said that "one partner normally the high desire sexual partner wants to do something whether it be sex or engage in intimate acts, whereas, the low desire sexual partner does not want to engage in the same sexual act as the high desire partner" (p.9). However, this does not have to relate only to sex, because both partners play a major role in the relationship, and once there is conflict, it can be clear which partner fills which position in the relationship (whether it may pertain to sex, chores around the house, going on dates, etc.). Furthermore, in relationships, positions shift for various issues encountered in the partnership; for instance, one partner may be the HDP for sex, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 74. Descriptive Essay About A White House Driving down the path, lined with small American flags, I began to see the large white house. It is quite an old house, however there were a few additions added. My mom pulled into the parking lot of a driveway and started taking food out of the trunk and bringing it into the house. I could have helped her, but instead I decided that I wanted to bring my luggage in and put it in the room that was assigned for me. I jogged back down the stairs and was greeted by my uncle's girlfriend, Sandy. Sandy is a wonderful, gentle, and kind woman who happens to be a good baker. She gave me a hug and kissed my forehead, asking me how my trip was, and I told her that I slept the entire ride to Maryland. After hearing this, she laughed and walked out on to the enclosed porch area. I walked through the kitchen, grabbing a cup of water, and asked my mom when my dad would be getting her. She told me that he would be here in two days because he must pick up a surprise; disappointed, I walked outside and was greeted by the farm cat Tala, she is a very loving cat, even though she only has one eye. I started petting her, and even held her for a little bit, playing with her tail and rubbing her ears, anything to get her to stay cuddling with me. After about 10 minutes went by, she ran off, chasing a bird. Standing up from my spot on the stairs, I headed towards the pool area assuming that is where my uncle's voice is originating from, and I was correct, he was at his Tiki bar, making drinks for ... • 76. Personal Narrative: Homosexuality And Civil Rights Everyday I walk outside and take a seat on my bench. Me and this plain bench have seen the world in ways no else has. It's because we are the only ones aware of our surroundings. Today we observe the laws of the land play out. Every action taken by a person here is controlled by strict laws preventing homosexuality. At this point, no one realizes it or remembers their purpose, but instead it's just a part of the routine. They are normal citizens following their government's word. I silently watch a father walk past me holding his daughter's hand. She's wearing a lilac dress that floats with the wind as she skips down the sidewalk. Only a man walking with a woman. No one dares to walk with the same gender out of fear for their life these days. We are all constantly being watched. If I were to be caught hugging my sister, I'd be accused of treason. That's how the government categorizes these "gay" actions. From my years of living I have learned that the real reason is out of fear of the "homosexual agenda". I have yet to figure out what exactly that is. I've heard rumors that it was a government takeover. Treason. If that's the case then maybe what they did wasn't so bad. But I've never gotten to know a gay person before. I can't tell the difference between the truth and a lie when it comes to them. I've only had one experience with one. I was taking my night walk down the street towards my house when I saw her. In a well–supported paragraph, or two, analyze how Rodriguez cultivates this claim in his essay. Support your analysis of his rhetoric with specific references from the text. Paragraph: Intimacy, meaning familiarity or the creation of a private atmosphere, had been Rodriguez's most repeated stressor from a young age. Throughout his essay Rodriguez relates spanish, his families first language, as a "pleasing, soothing, consoling reminder of being home" [304], by this it is likely that he is implying that spanish was once a comfort zone, but later he states, "I am tempted now to say that none of this mattered.
