arrangement, the cartoons did not take off. Laugh–O–Gram Studios ultimately failed, and in 1923 the
studio was so burdened with debt that Walt had no choice but to shut down the studio and declare
bankruptcy. Walt Disney was not a quitter. Following the bankruptcy of Laugh–O–Gram, he, his
brother, and Ub Iwerks packed up and moved to Hollywood in 1923 with $750 to their names. The
three began working in the back of a real estate office, where the Disney Brothers' Studio was first
created. The men continued to work on "Alice in Cartoonland" and were able to obtain a distributer
for their cartoons, Margaret Winkler. Winkler sold their shorts featuring a new character, Oswald the
Lucky Rabbit, for $1500 each. With all of the income coming into the studio, Walt was able to hire

The most popular "Silly Symphony," Flowers and Trees, was the first of Disney's movies to be made
in technicolor (full color). Flowers and Trees was already in production as a black and white cartoon
before Disney saw Herbert Kalmus' three–strip technicolor tests. He decided Flowers and Trees
would be the perfect test for the process, scrapped the original footage, and started over in
technicolor. The novelty of color helped boost the "Silly Symphony" ratings after previous,
disappointing releases. Flowers and Trees was so successful that it won Disney his first, of twenty
two, Academy Awards; winning the first Academy Award for Short Subjects. Disney's other "Silly
Symphonies" were moderate successes, but not necessarily note worthy. However, the song from the
1933 Symphony The Three Little Pigs, "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf," became an anthem for
the country during The Great

Walt Disney was an amazing cartoonist, motion–picture, and producer. He is well known for his
cartons and Disney Parks. In Disney's early life it was he and his brother Roy, who co–founded Walt
Disney productions. It was and still is one of the best–known motion–picture productions ever. Many
people were found by Disney's creations. His best cartoon character is Mickey Mouse and also one of

He met the cartoonist Ubbe Eert Iwwerks. From there he went to Kansas City Film Ad Company
where he made cutout animations for commercials. He started to experiment with the camera, doing
hand drawn cel animation. He then got the idea of opening his own animation studio, and he brought
along Fred Harmen as his first employee. They soon made a deal with Kansas City Theater to screen
their cartoons, and they called them, Laugh–O–Grams. Laugh–O–Grams became very popular and
soon enough Disney was able to open up his own studio officially. The name Laugh–O–Grams stayed
the same and they hired a number of employees including Harmen's brother Hugh and Iwerks. They
did a serious of seven minute fairy tales; which they then combined both live action and animation, it
was called, Alice in Cartoonland. By 1923, the studio was burdened with debt, and Disney was

Analysis Of Pinocchio
The stasis of Pinocchio is introduced when the movie opens with a small personificated "cricket"
named Jiminy sitting in a library starts singing "When You Wish Upon A Star" and tells us that he
never believed in wishes coming true. In this fairy tale world, Jiminy is given characteristics of a
human being by being able to stand on two legs and having two arms. Jiminy also has the ability to
run, walk, jump and talk like a human being. After telling us that he never believed in wishes coming
true, Jiminy opens a fairy tale book titled Pinocchio, and tells us the story of Pinocchio that makes
him believe otherwise. As Jiminy tells us the story, the camera zooms into the first page of the book
and shows us a quiet, small, and unnamed village during a beautiful night with stars shining like
diamonds over the town. As Jiminy wanders around the quiet streets, there isn't a single person to be
seen and it seemed like a ghost town. The only sign of life is a lively window where lights could be
seen in the shop of a woodcarver named Geppetto. This intrigues Jiminy to sneak his way through a
tiny door crack in Geppetto's house, which is located near the middle of this unnamed village, and
everything seems happy and peaceful/in order. Being a woodcarver, Geppetto's works of puppetry,
dolls and other wooden toys/furnitures can be seen all inside his house and he has a pet cat named
Figaro and a pet fish named Cleo. Geppetto just carved a puppet named Pinocchio and before falling

Walter Elias Disney
Disney has become a household name in American society, but most people are not aware of Walt
Disney's struggles before becoming one of the twentieth century's most prominent and successful
animators and film directors. Walt Disney is best know for his characters Mickey Mouse, Donald
Duck, Pluto, Goofy, and Minnie Mouse, but his company can also be credited with achievements
such as the first fully synchronized sound picture, "Steamboat Willie", the first full–color animation,
"Flowers and Trees", and the first full–length animated movie, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs".

However, this was short–lived because he decided to join the Red Cross near the end of World War
Two. He was sent to France to be an ambulance driver. For an extra fifteen francs a week, Walt
painted signs for the camp that showed military and Red Cross personnel where things were located,
such as an arrow over a large mug pointing towards the canteen. When he returned home, his father
offered him a job at the jelly factory, but Walt had plans of moving to Kansas City and becoming a
cartoonist. His father did not think much of this, which emulated Walt's distant relationship with his
father. He moved in with Roy in Kansas City, who was renting a room from their older brother
Herbert. Roy found Walt a job with Pesmen–Rubin Agency, and advertising agency in Kansas City,
but after the busy season, Walt was let go, as was his friend Eb Iwerks, and eventually the two started
the company Iwerks and Disney...Commercial Artists.
Iwerks and Disney eventually fell through, but Walt was determined to succeed, and he read as many
books and magazine articles about cartooning and cinematic animation as he could get his hands on.
After a while, Walt began working for the Kansas City Film Ad Company. On the side he began his
own company called Laugh–O–Gram Films, Inc. During this time Walt and Iwerks did a series of

Who is the man responsible for classic childhood films such as Cinderella, Snow White, Alice and
Wonderland, and what many people call his greatest creation ever Mickey Mouse? All of these were
put into action by Walt Disney. Disney is the most legendary cartoonist to ever live, and many people
still reap the benefits of Walt Disney's vision through the theme parks, Disney World and Disneyland.
Disney was born in Chicago, Illinois but later moved to Missouri where he spent most of his
childhood. Walter Elias "Walt" Disney was born on December 5, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois to Elias
and Flora Call Disney ("Walt Disney"). Soon after his birth the family moved to Marceline, Missouri
where Disney lived most of his childhood. In 1911, they moved to Kansas City where he developed a
love of trains because his uncle, Mike Martin, was a train engineer in the area ("Biography"). Disney
attended McKinley High School in Chicago, where he took drawing and photography classes and was

Economy, Morality, Gender, and Ethnic Stereotyping Essay
Economy, Morality, Gender, and Ethnic Stereotyping Critical Essay on Pinocchio
Disney's Pinocchio has been a long time favorite of American culture. However, time has changed
and so has our culture. We are no longer described or categorized by being white, European, primarily
heterosexual, Protestant, and bourgeois. I have to argue that that stereotype is still in effect. As times
have changed so have our people and their values. Now, we are described as "The Melting Pot" of
religions, race, sex, and class. Pinocchio was fitting for the culture of 1940 but as for now it not so
appropriate. Industrialism, Capitalism, and the ruling bourgeoisie are the themes in this movie not
only because they probably reflect Walt's own life but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I feel that the depiction of Gepetto is not all that bad. His morality is very high; he is caring, a hard
worker, and a very loving man. He is brave (He lived in Monstero the whale!), truthful, and unselfish.
He fed his cat basically the same thing he ate, and let's be honest he did not have that much food to
give. Yet, with all these attributes he is worthless because he has no money. He cannot help his "son"
in any truly helpful way. He does not have the means to do so. Love means does not mean anything if
one cannot put food on the table. Once again, the subject of economy is raised. How does one
measure morality and economic level? They are two different entities and yet if one does not have the
other they are not whole. On the other hand, Stromboli hasn't got a moral bone in his body. Yet still,
he has more money than Gepetto and has power to take Gepetto's son. Also, the character "Honest
John" acts as if he is rich, smart, and moral; hence, the name "Honest John". The fox is portrayed as a
liar and a criminal. These portrayals of the poor are very low. The depictions of the rich are equally as
low. So, what is a person to believe? We must conclude that these stereotypes are preposterous.
The end to the Great Depression came about in 1941 with America's entry into WWII. American's
lives, by 1946, were in shambles. Pinocchio is a great product of this turmoil.

He started out as a newspaper cartoonist for his school and turned into a billionaire with a multi–

successful. For instance, his cartoons had a way of making people laugh and smile, and he was the
first person to produce a cartoon with sound and color. Additionally, he loved what he was doing. He
loved creating characters out of mere creativity. These were lovable characters that people wanted to
know more and more about. He realized what people loved about his productions so much, so he
continued making more. Given that it was the period of the Great Depression and World War II, he,
along with his brother Roy, used very smart business strategies such as "...dedicating much of his new
studio to producing health, education and propaganda films for the U.S. government" (para. 6). He
knew how to keep money coming into his business. After he saw how successful his TV cartoons
were becoming, he decided to take it up to the next level by creating films. He re–released Snow
White during the war period, which brought a lot of revenue into the company. He noticed how much
money this made, and so he started re–releasing movies every ten years while limiting the amount of
Disney movies on DVD and VHS. He knew how big the name was becoming; therefore, he decided

After the success of Snow White, Disney tried to create realistic animation that lasted for some of
Disney's most classic movies. This era was called Disney Formalism. The beautiful drawings paired
with interesting stories entertained children and adults while making the company well known and
successful. With this new goal in mind and "In perusing and reaching the limits of hyperrealist
animation, Disney became the most visible studio in American animation ... Disney Formalist
filmmaking ... was established during a very brief period of Disney's early history with films [like]
Snow White, Pinocchio, Dumbo, and Bambi" (Pallant 52). This era included some of Disney's classic
and most beloved films. For their time, the animation looked realistic and was considered cutting
edge. The deer in Bambi and the puppets in Pinocchio seemed almost life like. Though the films
weren't as successful as the company originally hoped when they were released, the films were still
beautiful works of art. Disney's movies were important to him so "Walt wanted his drawings that
were animated to seem to be real things that had feelings and emotions and thoughts, and the main
thing was that the audience would believe them and that they would care what happened to them"
(Thomas, Johnston 35). A significant part of being a successful movie maker is having viewers care.

Many people have experienced Disney in one shape or another in their lifetime. Whether it was the

audience was young children, it also captivated the hearts of its older viewers. Countless individuals,
however, do not realize all the technology and effort involved in making a mere ten minute short film,
let alone a full length movie. Furthermore, they also do not know how far the technology for Disney
productions has come. It is of no surprise that Walt Disney Studios is the role model for almost every

How Did Walt Disney Change The World
Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois. His parents were Flora and Elias
Disney. Growing up, Disney had early interests in art and making money. He would sell drawings to
his neighbors for extra cash. Walt Disney has changed American history in so many ways and is
continuing to do so even after his death. Disney created his own animation company off of five
hundred dollars, changed the way people viewed cartoons and animation, and created multiple
cartoon characters which still are popular today.
Disney is considered one of the greatest people of the twentieth Century. He was known for his
relentless work ethic and vision. He established a business empire based on fantasy and what he
considered to be good, old–fashioned fun. He worked hard at making the world a better place despite
the overwhelming odds and chaos of World War II, The Great Depression, and the Cold War. Disney
wanted to
Warren 2 create a visual experience for children to believe that dreams do come true if people just
believe. One of his famous quotes was "If you can dream it, you can do it" (Walt Disney Quotes np).
Disney dared people to believe. He did not only open up a way for children to believe, but he also
created a way for adults to find laughter and comfort during times of the war. He challenged everyone
to dream and to never get discouraged or give up on their dreams. If you believe, then anything is

In some of the Disney films, people argue if the men are portrayed as weak due to their vulnerability;
however, showing vulnerability illustrates that not everyone is perfect. This exemplifies a stronger
apprehension for a more encouraging and sympathetic environment for young children to grow up in.
Walt Disney wanted his characters to send a message to teach children to express their personal
feelings and be proud of where they came from. In the film Snow White, she holds strong qualities
that symbolizes self–determination. In the film, Snow White gets lost in the woods after she found out
that her step mom wanted her dead due to her beauty. In order to survive, she had to fight by herself
before the dwarfs saved her. Another influential character that Walt Disney created was Cinderella,
due to her strong willpower. Cinderella went through many struggles with her abusive family, she was
able to fight through and overcome the challenges which led to her success. In most of Disney films,
the characters become friends with animals that help guide through obstacles. The animals give
advice and motivation along the way ("Ecommons"). Other than influencing children through their
actions and personalities, Walt Disney also created characters that represent body positivity. For
example, the character Mulan represents body positivity by being a strong athletic woman compared
to other women in her society. Mulan wouldnt accept the fact that since she was a woman, she was

Analysis Of Pinocchio
According to the philosopher Georg Freidrick Hegel, one must follow particular steps in order to
achieve self–awareness. This journey includes a life or death struggle in the presence of fear in which
one opponent emerges the victor or master and one as the loser or slave. The loser must then complete
a creative work also while feeling fear before finally becoming a true human being. In Disney's
Pinocchio, the titular character undergoes the epitome of a Hegelian journey. Pinocchio begins by
facing a life or death struggle with the puppeteer Stromboli, then uses creativity to rescue Geppetto,
and, finally, Pinocchio both figuratively and literally becomes a real boy. Hegel's theoretical journey

many true humans. Facing him is a life of objectification, used by Stromboli in a puppet show.
Pinocchio is reduced to a mere object and, thus, beginning his Hegelian struggle to prove his
humanity. The second stage of the path to Hegelian self–awareness is a creative work. The loser must
use creativity while still feeling extreme fear in order to prove to himself that he is a human being
capable of thought and action. Toward the end of the movie, Geppetto goes out searching for
Pinocchio and ends up swallowed by a huge and horrifying whale named Monstro. Upon learning
this, Pinocchio launches a rescue mission for his father. He reaches the edge of the sea and, realizing
he needs to sink to the bottom of the ocean, thinks up the idea to tie a rock to himself. This allows
him to drop to the ocean floor where he may then continue his search for Monstro. Pinocchio asks
many fish where he might find the whale only to receive a terrified school of fish swimming away
from him. As he realizes what a horror Monstro must be to inspire such fear, his own trepidation
begins to build. Therefore, Pinocchio experiences the necessary fear required for this stage of the
Hegelian journey.

Walt Disney created many animations, productions, and theme parks, however these were probably
the main creations that Disney created which led to how it spreads to society today. What probably
started it all is Disney's Hollywood Studios. He used the borrowed money from the "Alice in
Cartoonland" series. His studio began to get more broad with more artists. Later on in 1932, Disney
developed his first cartoon in full color, Flowers and Trees, in the "Silly Symphony" series. He also
created the world's first full–length animated film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Some others

How did Walt Disney get the idea for his beloved theme park? The idea for the park came to mind
when he was thinking about how he wanted better places for children. Disney said, "When my
daughters were young and I took them to amusement parks... I said to myself, Why can't there be a
better place to take your children, where you can have fun together?" (Hughes). Disney shows how
much he wanted to have an enjoyable environment for families to spend time with each other. He
started off by using his films and cartoons to bring back childhood memories. Walt Disney became
very influential in changing the entertainment industry by introducing new films and creating a theme

The Beloved Children's Storybook, Winnie the Pooh by Alan...
Introduction
Winnie the Pooh is a children's storybook written by one of the most famous children's British
writers, Alan Alexander Milne in 1926. Milne's inspiration of the character was from a stuffed animal
that his son, Christopher Robin owned in the nursery. Therefore, Milne made up a special bedtime
story for and about his son; it was about a "silly old bear", some other animal friends and many pots
of honey. The Pooh series, including Winnie the Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner were instant big
hits in England.
Till this day, the stories of Pooh are still being read. It inspired adult works like The Tao of Pooh and

Pooh having to be such appealing character is by no accident. The book Winnie the Pooh and
Disney's film adaptation together make an effort to attract the world's attention. The story by Milne
and the lively pictures by Edward Shepard, the illustrator inspired Disney's adaptation; characteristics
in the book and film coincide with each other to make such successful creation. This essay will take
the objective view to analyze in what ways the book and film attain its three important purposes of
writing and filming, which grant them the honor of world–known storytellers and Pooh as an
enduring and successful character.
Further from noting the three purposes of writing and filming of Milne and Disney, this essay will
explore the textual features including the written, non–written expression and the conceptual parts of

Walt Disney's Influence On The Modern World
The name Disney brings many things to mind: dazzling animated movies, billion dollar theme parks,
an endless array of character merchandise, a television industry, and so much more. But what about
the man behind the name Walt Disney, how did he create entertainment's largest and most eminent
empire? Disney's early interest in cartoons led him to Hollywood where he and his brother worked
tirelessly to develop their name and establish themselves as an innovative company. With a little
"faith, trust, and pixie dust," as well as the help of a rascally mouse named Mickey, Disney pioneered
the animation industry and won 48 academy awards during his lifetime. Disney's legacy has at times
been tainted by rumors and his intentions misinterpreted, but there is no denying his profound
influence on modern media. Disney was the great master of the animation renaissance, whose ideas

Disney Way Of Death Analysis
Disney movies are often a toddler's first introduction to death; at least I still remember what Scar did
to Mufasa in The Lion King (1994). The soundtrack of that scene still nauseates my subconscious; I
was stuck to my seat, totally shocked. After reviewing Walt Disney's work before the 1950s,
Laderman points out that death played a central role in his animated cartoons, from Fantasia to
Pinocchio. Since the movies were critically acclaimed and are still a big part of popular culture, what
Disney says about death says a lot about America, especially its worldview and religious attitudes.
According to Laderman, "the Disney way of death" is focused on mortality and seeks to "suspend the
animation of life"(p35)... remember Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Sleeping Beauty? It
shows no interest in capturing morals of life but portrays the absolute battle with between good and
evil, where death is a weapon to bring bad characters to justice. A Disney "world" usually links death
with evil (Fantasia with the "Night on Bald Mountain" scene) and believes that "good" can always
prevail, like in Snow White and Pinocchio. It connects characters reuniting with family to stability
and happiness (as in Pinocchio and Cinderella, Finding Nemo). The Disney way of death also
introduces the audience to grief because of the death of a close relative. For example, the feelings we
experience after Bambi's mother is killed off camera are because of our own subconscious fears. This
experience is

A Brief Biography of Walt Disney
Walt Disney was born in Chicago on December 5, 1901. Because of the violence in Chicago and
because it was hard to make money, in 1906 his father Elias Disney purchased forty–eight acres of
farmland in Marceline, Missouri. It was northeast of Kansas city. Every single family member was
expected to do chores on the farm. Walt was amazed by the ducks, pigs, and hens his dad raised and
thought of them as personal friends. The memories of these animals greatly influenced how they were
portrayed with their individual personalities. It was Disney's interest in the animals that got him
drawing in the first place. One day when he was six, Disney decided to draw a picture of a huge farm
pig named Porker. His family was very poor so there was no paper for him to use. He noticed a
bucket of tar his father was using to fix the roof. He used the brush and started to draw Porker on the
whitewash side of the barn. Disney's father discovered what Disney was doing though before he was
able to finish. His father was enraged. This wasn't just because Disney had drawn on the wall, but it
was also because his father thought that art and music were worthless pastimes. He thought the life of
a young boy should be nothing but hard work. Desperate for something to draw on, he started
sketching on rolls of toilet paper. He is quoted, "You can guess what I did with them, especially as I
ate a lot of green apples in those days. Anyway, that's all they were really good for–and that's where

An Analysis of Music's Influence on Racial Thinking in Disney Film
The Classic Animated American Film, Dumbo, preceded Walt Disney's first Animated Feature Length
films: Snow White and the Seven Dwarves and Pinocchio. Dumbo also arrived right before the
American Animated classic Bambi. These films were undoubtedly made during a time of extreme
racial oppression in the United States (the country where Walt Disney films were originally set to be
consumed). It would come to no surprise that these films, though filmed primarily for children
entertainment, would not only exhibit problematic racial stereotyping, but also would perpetuate

Since the leader of the flock is played by a white voice actor, the dialect of the crows would exactly
mimic Minstrelsy. Without a doubt, these crows represent these characterizations among animal
characters and in the Richard Crawford's writing on minstrel shows of the American past he states, "...
the mask enabled white stage minstrels to amuse audiences by imitating characteristic black ways of
talking, moving, dancing, laughing, singing, and playing music instruments" (Crawford 198). This
scene maintains Minstrelsy by using the crows as an animated–animalized blackface and further
perpetuates the idea that the crows are, in fact, exhibiting minstrelsy. Since stereotypical black speech
movement, dancing, laughing, singing, and musicianship all play a huge role in the making of this
scene, then it would be right to say that minstrelsy was the goal of Walt Disney productions in the
making of Dumbo in 1941.
Overall, the purpose of this scene is to show that Dumbo has ended up in the black neighborhood and
faces complete humiliation by a minority group. Much can be said about these racial issues, but most
importantly, there is a question of how viewers of the film understand the relationship between
Dumbo with his conscience–like character versus the stereotypical 1940s negro–like crow characters.

Analysis Of Peter Pan
Discovering that every child has to grow up at some point of time is the main idea or purpose behind
the famous story of "Peter Pan." Though there are different versions of the story, each one generally
has the same outcome. Analyzing two different interpretations of "Peter Pan", the Disney illusion and
the original, by James M. Barrie, it is to be learned that the Disney animation simply brings the story
to life, adds a different outlook on it as opposed to simple olden version. With new color, animation
and modern day thought the Disney story creates a different playing of "Peter Pan".
In Disney's version of "Peter Pan", Disney left out many gruesome facts in their version of the story.
In the original "Peter Peter" by, James M. Barrie in 1904, Peter was a young boy who lived amidst
fairies and would escort dead children half of the way to wherever they need to go. One night, Mrs.
Darling sees Peter in the nursery, contrast to the cartoon where the parents are not important
characters, and she is able to catch his shadow, roll it up, and hold it in a drawer so that she can
attempt to catch the boy. She barely remembers this boy from stories told when she was younger.
When Peter returns for his shadow when the parents are away, he mistakenly awakes Wendy. He tells
Wendy about Neverland and the Lost Boys, who happen to be young babies in which had fallen out of
their carriages and were sadly never found again. Wendy along with her brothers fly with Peter to

Walt Disney Accomplishments
"Around here, however, we don't look backwards for very long. We keep moving forward, opening up
new doors, and doing new things, because we're curious... and curiosity keeps us leading us down
new paths" ("Walt Disney Company > Quotes."). Likewise, Disney never gave up on his dreams and
aspirations. Walt Disney has inspired people of every generation, established a multi–billion dollar
corporation, left a legendary production company, and all the while still being a family man.
Walter Elias Disney was born on December 5, 1901, in Hermosa Illinois. Disney spent most of his
childhood in Marceline, Missouri, with his four siblings. In 1911 Disney's family moved to Kansas
City ("Walt Disney"). Disney then attended Mckinley High School. He took ... Show more content on

After Disney made Laugh–O–Grams at the Kansas City Film Ad Company, he set out with his
brother Roy to Hollywood ("Walt Disney"). In 1923 Walt Disney Studios was made. "In 1937,
Disney's innovative first full length animated feature, SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS,
was released to critical acclaim and worldwide success"("Walt Disney Studios History"). It secured
$1,499,000 and ended up with eight Oscars, even though the depression was going on."During the
next five years, Walt Disney Studios completed another string of full–length animated films,
Pinocchio (1940), Fantasia (1940), Dumbo (1941) and Bambi (1942)"("Walt Disney"). Disney bought
a patent for Technicolor that allowed him to be able to make color animated films while other
animators could not (Kim). "Disney was also among the first to use television as an entertainment
medium"("Walt Disney"). One day on a train ride home, Disney started to imagine and think about a
mouse named Mortimer. His wife, Lillian Disney, recommended he call the mouse Mickey (Admin.).
Mikey was first introduced in Plane Crazy and The Gallopin' Gaucho with Disney himself as the
voice of Mikey. "Disney created a third, sound–and–music–equipped short called Steamboat Willie.
With Walt as the voice of Mickey, the cartoon was an instant sensation"("Walt Disney"). Disney then

My American Journey By Wes Moore
"[A] recent author and public figure...[Colin Powell, wrote a] book, My American Journey, [that]
helped me harmonize my understanding of America's history and my aspiration to serve her in

another way to think about my own life" (Moore 131–2). Author Wes Moore wrote the book The
Other Wes Moore, both an autobiography and a biography about a man who shares his name and has
a similar backstory, to demonstrate how people's destinies are primarily influenced by the
environment into which they are born. Examining stories including and similar to those of both Wes

However, even after his positive experience at Job Corps, Moore was so scarred by the environment
in which he was raised that he ended up in prison for life without parole. Because the two Wes
Moores had such different friends, they ended up becoming separate people and experienced differing
levels of success in their lives. Most people form many of their friendships at school, but even outside
of friends, individuals' education alters their mentalities. Without a doubt, actions like conquering
challenging subject matter and overcoming academic struggles cause some parts of this educational
effect, but one's teachers have some of the greatest influence in education. The instructor teaches with
a personal worldview, one which will incidentally impact the students. For example, some private
schools teach the religion of Christianity, where a living God designed the universe, while public
schools are required to teach the religion of evolution, where everything exists due to a chance clash
of lifeless chemicals. This disparity in beliefs about the universe's origin fosters strongly opposing
ideas about topics such as morals and the meaning of life that are fundamental to how a person
decides to handle any given situation. The teacher can also inspire a growth or a fixed mindset in
students. Psychology professor Carol Dweck invented this idea of

Laugh–O–Gram Studios ultimately failed, and in 1923 the studio was so burdened with debt that Walt had no choice but to shut down the studio and declare bankruptcy. Walt Disney was not a quitter. Following the bankruptcy of Laugh–O–Gram, he, his brother, and Ub Iwerks packed up and moved to Hollywood in 1923 with $750 to their names. The three began working in the back of a real estate office, where the Disney Brothers' Studio was first created. The men continued to work on "Alice in Cartoonland" and were able to obtain a distributer for their cartoons, Margaret Winkler. Winkler sold their shorts featuring a new character, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, for $1500 each. With all of the income coming into the studio, Walt was able to hire another ... He decided Flowers and Trees would be the perfect test for the process, scrapped the original footage, and started over in technicolor. The novelty of color helped boost the "Silly Symphony" ratings after previous, disappointing releases. Flowers and Trees was so successful that it won Disney his first, of twenty two, Academy Awards; winning the first Academy Award for Short Subjects. Disney's other "Silly Symphonies" were moderate successes, but not necessarily note worthy. • 5. Analysis Of Pinocchio The stasis of Pinocchio is introduced when the movie opens with a small personificated "cricket" named Jiminy sitting in a library starts singing "When You Wish Upon A Star" and tells us that he never believed in wishes coming true. In this fairy tale world, Jiminy is given characteristics of a human being by being able to stand on two legs and having two arms. Jiminy also has the ability to run, walk, jump and talk like a human being. After telling us that he never believed in wishes coming true, Jiminy opens a fairy tale book titled Pinocchio, and tells us the story of Pinocchio that makes him believe otherwise. As Jiminy tells us the story, the camera zooms into the first page of the book and shows us a quiet, small, and unnamed village during a beautiful night with stars shining like diamonds over the town. As Jiminy wanders around the quiet streets, there isn't a single person to be seen and it seemed like a ghost town. The only sign of life is a lively window where lights could be seen in the shop of a woodcarver named Geppetto. This intrigues Jiminy to sneak his way through a tiny door crack in Geppetto's house, which is located near the middle of this unnamed village, and everything seems happy and peaceful/in order. Being a woodcarver, Geppetto's works of puppetry, dolls and other wooden toys/furnitures can be seen all inside his house and he has a pet cat named Figaro and a pet fish named Cleo. When he returned home, his father offered him a job at the jelly factory, but Walt had plans of moving to Kansas City and becoming a cartoonist. Walt Disney Research Paper Who is the man responsible for classic childhood films such as Cinderella, Snow White, Alice and Wonderland, and what many people call his greatest creation ever Mickey Mouse? All of these were put into action by Walt Disney. Disney is the most legendary cartoonist to ever live, and many people still reap the benefits of Walt Disney's vision through the theme parks, Disney World and Disneyland. • 11. Economy, Morality, Gender, and Ethnic Stereotyping Essay Economy, Morality, Gender, and Ethnic Stereotyping Critical Essay on Pinocchio Disney's Pinocchio has been a long time favorite of American culture. However, time has changed and so has our culture. We are no longer described or categorized by being white, European, primarily heterosexual, Protestant, and bourgeois. I have to argue that that stereotype is still in effect. As times have changed so have our people and their values. Now, we are described as "The Melting Pot" of religions, race, sex, and class. Pinocchio was fitting for the culture of 1940 but as for now it not so appropriate. Industrialism, Capitalism, and the ruling bourgeoisie are the themes in this movie not only because they probably reflect Walt's own life but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I feel that the depiction of Gepetto is not all that bad. His morality is very high; he is caring, a hard worker, and a very loving man. He is brave (He lived in Monstero the whale!), truthful, and unselfish. He fed his cat basically the same thing he ate, and let's be honest he did not have that much food to give. Yet, with all these attributes he is worthless because he has no money. He cannot help his "son" in any truly helpful way. He does not have the means to do so. Love means does not mean anything if one cannot put food on the table. Once again, the subject of economy is raised. How does one measure morality and economic level? They are two different entities and yet if one does not have the other they are not whole. On the other hand, Stromboli hasn't got a moral bone in his body. Yet still, he has more money than Gepetto and has power to take Gepetto's son. Also, the character "Honest John" acts as if he is rich, smart, and moral; hence, the name "Honest John". The fox is portrayed as a liar and a criminal. These portrayals of the poor are very low. The depictions of the rich are equally as low. So, what is a person to believe? We must conclude that these stereotypes are preposterous. The end to the Great Depression came about in 1941 with America's entry into WWII. American's lives, by 1946, were in shambles. Pinocchio is a great product of this turmoil. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 53. Disney Way Of Death Analysis Disney movies are often a toddler's first introduction to death; at least I still remember what Scar did to Mufasa in The Lion King (1994). The soundtrack of that scene still nauseates my subconscious; I was stuck to my seat, totally shocked. After reviewing Walt Disney's work before the 1950s, Laderman points out that death played a central role in his animated cartoons, from Fantasia to Pinocchio. Since the movies were critically acclaimed and are still a big part of popular culture, what Disney says about death says a lot about America, especially its worldview and religious attitudes. According to Laderman, "the Disney way of death" is focused on mortality and seeks to "suspend the animation of life"(p35)... remember Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and Sleeping Beauty? It shows no interest in capturing morals of life but portrays the absolute battle with between good and evil, where death is a weapon to bring bad characters to justice. A Disney "world" usually links death with evil (Fantasia with the "Night on Bald Mountain" scene) and believes that "good" can always prevail, like in Snow White and Pinocchio. It connects characters reuniting with family to stability and happiness (as in Pinocchio and Cinderella, Finding Nemo). The Disney way of death also introduces the audience to grief because of the death of a close relative. For example, the feelings we experience after Bambi's mother is killed off camera are because of our own subconscious fears. This experience is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 55. A Brief Biography of Walt Disney Walt Disney was born in Chicago on December 5, 1901. Because of the violence in Chicago and because it was hard to make money, in 1906 his father Elias Disney purchased forty–eight acres of farmland in Marceline, Missouri. It was northeast of Kansas city. Every single family member was expected to do chores on the farm. Walt was amazed by the ducks, pigs, and hens his dad raised and thought of them as personal friends. The memories of these animals greatly influenced how they were portrayed with their individual personalities. It was Disney's interest in the animals that got him drawing in the first place. One day when he was six, Disney decided to draw a picture of a huge farm pig named Porker. His family was very poor so there was no paper for him to use. He noticed a bucket of tar his father was using to fix the roof. He used the brush and started to draw Porker on the whitewash side of the barn. Disney's father discovered what Disney was doing though before he was able to finish. His father was enraged. This wasn't just because Disney had drawn on the wall, but it was also because his father thought that art and music were worthless pastimes. He thought the life of a young boy should be nothing but hard work. Desperate for something to draw on, he started sketching on rolls of toilet paper. He is quoted, "You can guess what I did with them, especially as I ate a lot of green apples in those days. Anyway, that's all they were really good for–and that's where they ... This scene maintains Minstrelsy by using the crows as an animated–animalized blackface and further perpetuates the idea that the crows are, in fact, exhibiting minstrelsy. Since stereotypical black speech movement, dancing, laughing, singing, and musicianship all play a huge role in the making of this scene, then it would be right to say that minstrelsy was the goal of Walt Disney productions in the making of Dumbo in 1941. Overall, the purpose of this scene is to show that Dumbo has ended up in the black neighborhood and faces complete humiliation by a minority group. Much can be said about these racial issues, but most importantly, there is a question of how viewers of the film understand the relationship between Dumbo with his conscience–like character versus the stereotypical 1940s negro–like crow characters.
