extensive development of the surrounding area over the years. The lake is a key area in Barry County for recreation and tourism, but its rich history is

These drainage basins that formed 6,000 years ago are the origin of the Great Lakes we are familiar with today. These glacial lakes are thought to
much larger than the current bodies of water surrounding Michigan. The evidence of these lakes can be found, for example, around Saginaw bay
where there are eroded bluffs and plains located far away from the current Lake. Glaciers also left us many moraines in the state of Michigan. Moraines
are land masses where debris, carried by glaciers has formed ridges or mounds. Moraines can be an indicator of the end of a large glacial retreat.
Moraines are created by the wasting ice sheet and are composed of glacial till. Glacial till (unsorted glacial sediment) is laid down quickly as the
glacier moves and is composed of various sediments with many rocks and stones. In Michigan there are many famous moraines. As the lucky
residents of Marquette we can look out our windows and see evidence of glaciers because of all of our rolling hills. Rolling landforms are a typifying
aspect of a moraine.

In the Copper County, miners were not allowed to form a union until just before 1913. The strike was about the conditions of the miners and what
they had to go through while mining, it was an extremely dangerous job. They did not get paid much, the labor was intense, and the days were long.

and having and amazing time if all their friends and family, and the strike slips their minds for a while. Then, all of a sudden, someone screams
"Fire!" Although there was never a fire, panic erupts in hall, everyone searching for a way out, running towards the only door and staircase. Everyone
barricaded the door on accident, and many tripped and fell. There were so many people blocking the door that the firemen could not even help there
on the main door, they had to go up the fire escapes and through the roof. There were seventy–three people just piled on the floor in front of the door,
dead from being trampled or suffocated, at least sixty of which were children. Many people were considered suspects, but the truth is, no one knows

Water has shaped Michigan to its shape over the past thousands of years. The total area of Michigan is 96,716 miles squared. The total surface of the
Great Lakes is 94,250 miles squared. Michigan is surrounded by 4 of the 5 Great Lakes like shown in figure 1. The Great Lakes include Lake Superior,

My Favorite Place In My Life
Quick and easy–to–use transportation has created the ability to travel worldwide many times in your life. From airplanes to boats to cars to trains all
the way to buses, it is hard to not travel around the world, which it makes it difficult to choose one spot as your all time favorite place to be. But
luckily in my life, I know that Sydney's Frozen Custard on the shores of Lake Superior in Grand Marais is my favorite place to be. I have been blessed
with countless experiences of travel from touring Italy, snorkeling the Mexican coasts, surfing the Dominican waves, exploring the land of Ethiopia,
and even inhaling the fresh air of the Netherlands, but no adventure of mine has lived up to the relaxing Grand Marais atmosphere. The tradition dates
back to 2005, the first time I experienced the crisp Lake Superior air. My family pained through the six–hour drive, and found it was well worth it. We
fell in love with the small town ambiance, and to this day still cannot let go if it. So many monumental family experiences can be traced back to
Grand Marais. Every year we celebrate America's birthday by watching the fireworks explode over the placid and reflective Lake Superior water.
Skiing the powdery fresh hills of Lutsen Mountain and coming back to a warm and cozy room at East Bay suites, while drinking the free steamy hot

In 1851 he was asked to write a series of articles for 'The Minnesota Democrat' newspaper on the Ojibway people. These articles were the beginning
stages of what became "The History of the Ojibway People". William wrote several articles for the newspaper and eventually finished the
manuscript for the first, of what was to be a many volume series of books on the Ojibway people, in 1853. Upon returning home from a trip to a New
York publisher, William Warren died of a severe hemorrhage at theyoung age of 28.

The shape of Michigan is something very unique to us. Anytime you look at a map of the Earth, you can find Michigan in two seconds. If you're
in the Upper Peninsula, you can point to exactly where you are. Or if you want to tell someone where a city is located in Michigan, and you don't
have a map, you can just hold up your hand and point. For those of us born and raised in Michigan, it seems like a completely normal thing to do.

equilibrium occurred. The region began to rise, at a rate of about thirty centimeters per century (Leelanau, 2004). Water levels in the upper basin

Sea Lampreys In Lake Superior
I have noticed that there is a lot of Sea Lampreys in Lake Superior. I live in the Duluth area and I love to fish. Being a concerned resident of the
area I would like to see less Sea Lampreys in the lake. I think cutting the Sea Lampreys population to little or none will help out all of the fish in the
area and will also bring a lot more fishermen to the lake. I hope that you can agree with me and I hope that we can come to an agreement on how to
stop the Sea Lampreys from killing all of the other fish in the area.
So many fishermen come to visit our magnificent lake every year and we can't afford to lose all of these customers. These tourist that come to Lake

The cold soft sand in between my toes feel unique as I walk down the beach. The crisp air came off the lake as if it were an air conditioner blowing
