Speech On Punctuality
Punctuality
In today's business society punctuality matters a lot. Being punctual tells a lot about you. It tells individuals that you're in control, that you're sorted
out, that you can be depended on, that you admire them and at last, that you admire yourself.
Punctuality shows mastery
Being punctual reliably demonstrates that you are the master of your life. It shows prescience the capacity to foresee conceivable hang–ups and
flexibility the capacity to amend your plans to suit those hang–ups.
Punctuality shows integrity
Punctuality is also a trust matter. When you make an arrangement, you are making a promise to be there ontime on the place where you said. The main
way you develop other individuals' trust in you is by reliably meeting your duties, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Too busy to possibly be looking out for you while their other work goes incomplete. Being reliable shows genuinely, that you esteem their precious
time and by augmentation that you esteem them as a person. It says, "We should make this time we've prepared as beneficial as conceivable so we can
both get on with all our other imperative stuff."
Punctuality shows you value yourself
At last, being on time indicates you esteem your opportunity and value yourself. As a matter of first importance, being more than once late is an
imprudent manner. What else would you risk to not get the enormous customer, losing your career, or offending people around you? Also, everybody
realizes that most imprudent act takes after from low confidence. Regardless of whether it's not accurate, that is the perception you're permitting others.
To be punctual one should always manage the time and always should work according to a plan. By adjusting the daily routings people can figure out
what exactly should be done first and what next, what are the things that make you prevent from getting on time.one should always make punctuality a

Chile Essay
Before we can begin to conduct business with Chile, we need to know some facts about the country. Similar to here in the US, Chile views one's
class based on their financial status and their middle class accounts for almost half of their population. People in a certain class are not always going
to stay in that class; their status can change as their salary increases or decreases. Those who are in a higher class, show their wealth by their
appearance, such as clothing and valuables they may have. Chileans are custom to having formality in all aspects of their lives, especially when it

Importance Of Punctuality In The Army
Life of a soldier is run by strict set of rules that every soldier is compelled to follow right from the beginning of their army training. Some of the
most important maxims of army life include, being punctual, always prepared and of course, being able to manage your time in an effective
manner. These maxims are strictly followed in the army and if a soldier fails to meet anyone of these maxims then he or she can be punished
according to the American military's Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). However, these qualities are respected in a man regardless of
their profession in life. Being punctual in your job, prepared for your meeting and managing your time can improve your relations with others and
pave way for your success. Punctuality in the Army A soldier is always expected to be on time, being late can be problematic not only for him but
also for his brothers in arms. The reason army lays such great importance to punctuality is because when the soldier has to enter the real life
battlefield then there is no relaxation for laziness. Even a minute late to a specific rally point can be the difference between life and death. Consider a
situation where a soldier has to provide supporting fire to cover for his friend, if the soldier does to not strictly obey time then there is a good chance
that his friend would be in life threatening trouble. The army has a set of rules in place to ensure that the quality of punctuality is integrated into the

Punctuality And Its Effects On Our Lives And Functions On...
Ever since I became an adult, I have struggled to show up on time. I have been habitually late to appointments, special occasions interviews and even
jobs, to name a few. To make matters even worse, punctuality is listed on my resume. Being late is obviously highly unfavorable and inconvienient in a
world that lives and functions on schedules, clocks and time zones. "A recent survey found 15 to 20 percent of the U.S. population is "consistently
late," especially when it comes to work. (ABC)" "Who are America's least punctual workers? The poll suggests millennials tend to show up late
more often than older colleagues. 22 percent of them said they arrive late for work at least once a week compared to just 15 percent of people
aged 55 and older. A mere 38 percent of millennials said they never arrive late for work compared to 55 percent of older workers. Considering the
fact that I am a millennial, my continuous problem with punctuality makes sense. According to the polls, of those who are late, millenials tend to
arrive to work later than people who are older. According to a recent survey, around 15 to 20 percent of the United States population struggles with
punctuality, especially when it comes to getting to work on time. Both statistics apply to me as I am a millennial who has been late to work and late to
occasions that were non–work related. Although I've have a recurring problem with punctuality, this problem can be solved easily. I have been

The Origin of The Japanese Values of Precision And Punctuality
Introduction
Precision and punctuality is believed to be the order of the day in the Japanese society in both workplaces and social settings. Punctuality is highly
regarded as an important factor that has contributed to the success of the Japanese economy in global scene. In 2013, the train transport between
Osaka and Tokyo recorded an average delay of six seconds only. There is a deep sense of respect for other people's businesses with concerns that
such activities should not be interrupted due to lateness. However, the lack of flexibility has been faulted by critics who believe that the Japanese
people are too obsessed with time keeping and precision. However, the origin of such values is still unknown to many with questions arising on
whether such values existed before industrialization in Japan. The fact that the values are associated with Japan's position as a global economic
powerhouse raises concern on the origin of such values.
The History of the Japanese Culture of Punctuality and Precision
Nara period
Heian period
The Tokugawa period Researchers believe that the Japanese were not punctual in Tokugawa period, which lasted between 1603 and 1868. In 1857, a
historical document by Willem Van Kettendyke showed how the Japanese society valued modest and politeness but failed in keeping time. However, the

Perception is the key to success, and now that I haven't shown that I am punctual, I know that my reputation, especially among this deployment, has

everything would be in a state of chaos. Only in a sparsely populated rural community could it ever be possible to disregard it and even in ordinary
living, there might even be some tolerance in the act of arriving a small bit late, but not in the military. The fundamentals of a prescribed time of

This action goes far beyond the simple act of following orders, it saves lives. And not only your life, but the lives of those around you.
Aside from trust any good military unit needs a high level of esprit de corps. A true desire to be there and to perform not only for yourself, but for
your fellow soldiers as well. When a unit has a soldier that does not appear to want to be there, it can severally affect its morale and overall
performance. Not to mention the time that is lost in training and dealing with the concerns and needs of other soldiers when a leader has to take the
time out of their day in order to deal with the problems of just one. It is unfair to all others involved when these circumstances arise and vital time is
taken from those who are doing the right thing.
Seeing one soldier being treated differently, weather this treatment be positive or negative, sets this soldier apart from the rest. This difference in
treatment further undermines that unit's esprit de corps and cohesion. And if this happens that unit's loyalty can begin to be tested not only amongst
them, but can also undermine that unit's leader who has to spend so much of his and her time dealing with that unit's only trouble spot.
Every soldier has a responsibility to be there for everything that his or her unit goes through, no

You command respect and admiration of all who work with you and are an asset. Everybody likes to work with you such a lovely man. On the
contrary an unpunctual man sees himself in arrears as days pass and is gradually filled with despair. He generally causes inconvenience to others and
is most of the time a liability.
Punctuality is inevitable everywhere. In business also this is very important. If you want to be a successful businessman, you have to be very
particular in being punctual. The failure to keep up an engagement punctually may mean a setback for his business. If you are not punctual, you can
see your washes away between your cup and lip!
If we study the lives of our great men, we find that punctuality was one of the secrets of their success in life. The necessity of doing our work
punctually should be felt more keenly because we live today in a complicated society where each work is dependent on the other. The smooth
working of the modern world is due to an increasing recognition of the necessity of doing our work punctually. Punctuality being so important in life,
it is necessary for every man to cultivate this habit from the very beginning. Once we are punctual, our labours will be lightened, our mind disciplined
and our life will be much easier and brighter.so I guess what I'm saying is if we be punctual, we can finish up our work at right time. Punctuality

Punctuality And The American Capitalist Mentality
"Strict punctuality is perhaps the cheapest virtue which can give force to an otherwise utterly insignificant character." (J.F. Boyes) Punctuality is one
of the cornerstones of the American Capitalist mindset. From birth, being on time is constantly stressed as a necessary skill that is needed to truly be
successful in the world. Lateness is not a tolerated from school, work, and even outings with friends. Even for the most loyal friend and employee
chronic failure to arrive on time could lead to the demise of a relationship with the other party. No matter the excuse or reason "Lateness is defined
as arriving at a setting after the start of a scheduled event." (Harrison and Price 2003, p.205). Consequently immediately after the event starts or it
passes the time someone either agreed or was told to be somewhere they are late. Mastery of this skill is not easily achieved which is self–evident, as a
majority of the population knows someone who is never on time, or may even be that individual themselves. Unfortunately people who are constantly
late have a bad stigma associated with themselves. Adjectives like rude, inconsiderate, and lazy are constantly being thrown in their direction. Though
the blame may be of no fault of their own. What causes this pattern of disregard for the strict standards everyone else listens to that time places?
Ranging from early, on time, and late, the classification time sets on an arrival leaves little room for error if one still hopes to still be

Right Place Right Time
Allow me to begin by stating the Dictionary's definition of Punctual: punc'tu'al adj. Acting or arriving exactly at the time appointed; prompt.
Scheduling the work day is one of the most important duties any leader in the Army or the Armed Forces for that matter, tackle each and every day.
Being at the right place at the right time for any member of the Armed forces is extremely essential to the defense of the entire United States of
America. It's because of this that being on time is remarkably important. Dependability, accountability, consistency and discipline are all crucially
related to being on time. Furthermore, promptness also shows that the individual Soldier aims high and has their priorities straight. However, being

Accountability also goes hand in hand with the topic at hand. The liability of the Soldier is of extreme importance. For every component of his
everyday and war time duties depend on his level of accountability. Which ranges from: being on time for the first formation of the day in garrison,
being on time to relieve a fellow Soldier from his post, or being on time to provide critical reinforcements for a battle weakened and compromised
force. As the theory goes, how one trains is how one fights. Using this logic one can only come to the conclusion that if a Soldier isn't on time how
can he save and protect the lives of his brothers in arms? The answer is simple, he can't. He can't be depended upon if he isn't disciplined enough to
be on time every time he is ordered. He also weakens the combat readiness of his platoon if he isn't at the right place at the right time. For example a
HMMWV cannot roll out of the base to complete a mission if the gunner isn't manning the turret, locked and loaded. That will be a no–go each and
every time. Dependability is the key to discipline and ultimately being punctual. I say this because punctuality requires the Soldier to be dependable
and the more dependable he is the more disciplined he is. Furthermore, the more disciplined he is the more punctual he is, the more punctual he is the
safer his battle buddies will be, which in–turn improves the mission success rate. As well as the overall effectiveness of the platoon,

Importance Of Time Management, Punctuality, And...
Time Management
Fauci Matthew R
16 Aug 2017 The importance of time management, punctuality, and accountability.
In 2001, a CareerBuilder survey reported that a total of 15 percent of American workers were late at least once per week. When lateness does occur, its
effects are felt and spread throughout the workplace. Though the importance of time management, punctuality, and accountability may seem obvious,
the impact in reality has quite a few shrewd layers. Including its effects on the individual just as much as its effects on the workplace as a whole.
Punctuality conveys an excess of positive thoughts to your leaders and co–workers. It shows them that you are ready for the day ahead of you no

When a leader is late or absent from work, it can send mixed messages to his employees or soldiers, which may lower moral. On the other hand, when
a leader is punctual, it shows a hard work ethic that will make the employees aspire to be like that individual.
Lateness will lead to stress of getting into trouble, stress will lead to poor performance in your place of work. After you begin to be consistently
late to work you will start to rationalize why you're late. When this begins to happen, people tend to start blaming everyone and everything else
instead of focusing on possible solutions to the actual problem. Eventually you will see a pattern and you'll be stuck in it, and when that becomes
normal to you your job will be in danger. Diana DeLonzer states that ten minutes of being late over the course of an entire year will end up costing
you the equivalency of one week's paid vacation.
I once read that George Washington's passion for punctuality was born from his early study of "The Rules of Civility"– his repeated copying of
maxims like "Undertake not what you cannot perform but be careful to keep your promise." For George Washington, being on time was a way of
showing respect to others, and he expected to be treated with the same level of respect in return.
Although we may no longer live in a time of knickers and powdered wigs like George Washington, being punctual is just as if not more than important

The Nation Hates To Be Late
This News and photo are both published by BBC, a British Broadcast Company, which means this article is exploring Swiss' punctuality from a
foreign perspective. In "The nation hates to be late," the writer, Eric Weiner first talks about Swiss famous for punctuality and neatness and exemplifies
the two ideas. Then he describes the punctuality in Swiss as a double–edged sword. Punctuality, on the one side, makes people feel respected and
dependable. On the other side, highly expectation causes disappointment and crowdedness. Unlike the article concentrating on both benefits and
drawbacks, this photo seems only pay attention to the drawbacks of punctuality. It focuses on the trainпјЊbut is really about the combination of train,
blurry people and clock. It's about the train in Swiss, but it also can imply the punctuality and tense atmosphere in Swiss' mind.

People would become a punctual person as well and get used to it when living in a country where being on time is the norm. And punctual people start

because Swiss strictly obey their schedule, "bunching effect" (pp14) appears. It's about how individuals contribute to a group. However, in this News,
Weiner points out Swiss have the same schedule in some certain activities. Since everyone has their afternoon tea at 4 pm, at this time, the coffee shop

this words that people head for to believe that the fastest country has the most progress, which is not needs true. The research, which the authors did
within six countries (Japan, United States., England, Italy, Taiwan, Indonesia) contrasting accuracy of bank clocks, post office speed, and walking
speed, shows that Japan is making its way in the fastest speed in all three dimensions. Speed of each country is vary because of their different
understanding of time and punctuality. For example, Japan realize that time is money and you cannot waste it. Yet, just because some qualities of the
country's speed are fast, it doesn't mean that the country is advanced in every way. Looking at the Japanese situation, it is true that there is a positive
connection between speed and progress in terms of technology, the education system, and industries. Also, in the essay, the authors conclude that the
relationship between speed and progress will become clear when we completely observe the heartbeat of each culture. People tend to oversimplify the

Punctuality In The Military Essay
Punctuality is a concept that is held to a different standard in every culture in the world. In Switzerland, for example, the train schedule is almost to
the second. If a commuter is even thirty seconds late for the train, it will have already departed. On the other hand, in Italy, which is right next door
to Switzerland, the train schedules are quite a bit more relaxed. If a train is not posting delayed warnings, it almost comes as a surprise. However,
there is one cultural norm that all peoples across the globe can agree upon: respect. Being respectful to our peers, superiors, and subordinates, is an
extremely important part of the Army lifestyle. One way that we show this respect is through an even more disciplined version of punctuality... Show

No idleness, no laziness, no procrastination: never put off till tomorrow what you can do today." –––Philip Stanhope
1.What is Procrastination?
Procrastination is actually giving priority to less urgent tasks in place of more urgent tasks. It can also be defined as doing the things causing immense
pleasure to a person instead of less pleasurable ones and thus, postponing the important tasks, sometimes to the edge of the deadline.
2.Why do people procrastinate?
The principle of pleasure is mostly the main cause of procrastination. Every human prefers to do desirable tasks which are a source of joy for him
instead of taking painstaking and stressful tasks on his head.
3.Reasons of Procrastination.
a.Skill Deficits: It is one of the major reasons for procrastination. If a person does not have the skill or ability to complete the required task, he would
avoid or prolong it for sure.
b.Lack of Interest: It plays a significant role in procrastination. If the work stuff seems boring to a person, he won't show any interest in that, which
would lead him to take the work casually. The solution is to 'just do it' which would save you time for the tasks in which you are more

Compare And Contrast Metropolis And Mental Life By Simmel
In his essay "Metropolis and Mental Life", German sociologist, Georg Simmel, describes characteristics of big cities that influence individuals. Simmel
writes that precision and punctuality is a basis for metropolitan life. He asserts that without "exact punctuality" a city's economy would "break down
into an inextricable chaos" (Simmel). Although Simmel claims that cities would be entropic without punctuality, there is a trade off between the
disorder of the city and the disorder of minds of its inhabitants. The constant need to be aware of time in metropolitan areas affects the psychological
state of individuals and leads many to find escapes of time.
Frank O'Hara, a museum curator from New York City, writes poetry that reflects the internal chaos of individuals living in a world of precision and
punctuality. In "A Step Away From Them", it is clear that New York's precision and punctuality influences O'Hara. During his lunch hour, O'Hara
writes, "I look at bargains in wristwatches" and that "it is 12:40 on a Thursday" (O'Hara). Just as Simmel describes, precision ... Show more content on

Being late does not make one important. Tardiness is a very unattractive quality when it comes to most aspects of one's life: family functions,
meetings, interviews, and especially a job. While a family may forgive tardiness, a job will not. Being late once or twice in one's life is
unavoidable. Being consistently tardy makes one unreliable and shows a lack of respect for other people's time and obligations. Being late tells
others that one person can be waited on, while everyone else can't. People do not like when their feelings were not taken into consideration, when they

What could have been done the night before? Punctuality is a habit. It's a matter of creating the routine and sticking with the routine. Punctual
people will be winners everywhere and will be one step ahead of the others. Planning ahead will contribute to being punctual, less stress, and the
ability to navigate around unforeseen circumstances. This all helps avoid difficult situations as far as time is concerned. This show of respect will
also command respect from others. Someone who shows, over and over, that they are the master of their time is someone who will be taken seriously
in areas far removed from time management. That foresight and adaptability that gets you where you need to be, when you need to be there, tells the
people around you that you can handle whatever is thrown at you. When it comes to the military certain things are automatically expected of a person.
One of the most important expectations is time management and being on time. Every day there are any number of places a soldier is required to be
at a certain time and as the old saying goes, "if you're not fifteen minutes early, you're late no matter the situation." Some soldiers understand the
importance of showing up fifteen minutes prior to an event or scheduled activity. To others, it makes no sense at all. Extreme as it may sound, when

Part One: Chaos Theory I have a hard time choosing whether to go to sleep at a reasonable hour or staying up. If I go to sleep at 10 I would say
that is a good time because I usually wake up at 8am, which would give me a great amount of sleep. The reason I have a hard time going to sleep at

Essay on The Importance of Punctuality
Being punctual is important for numerous reasons, all of which can be applied to both military and civilian life, as well as your work life and social
life. I think it is important because it shows that you have respect for others. If someone is consistently late to events it shows others around them that
they have little or no respect for others and their time. Time is a valuable thing and it should be viewed as such. If a person has commitments and
responsibilities involving others, they should realize that others time is just as important as their own. Someone that is consistently late shows others
that they believe their time is more valuable than others. Also by being late a person disrupts all the others involved in the event, which... Show more

As someone new to our company I should have considered this. My actions have set a negative impression of myself for my fellow soldiers and

unable to manage my time effectively and be on time, others may have the impression that I am not responsible enough to do my job efficiently and
correctly. In turn that impression could affect my career for a long period of time. Along with being respectful and responsible, being on time also
means that you are more likely to know what is going on. Most of the time, the beginning of a meeting or a formation for that matter may be used to
put out important information. Information in which leaders think is pertinent. If someone is late to a formation or meeting they run the risk of not
getting the information put out or getting a misconstrued version from a fellow person. Without proper information that person is more likely to be
late again and again starting a cycle that may be hard to break. As someone in the military this is something that should be avoided. A cycle of not
being in the right place at the right time could lead to punishment such as UCMJ, extra duty, and in some scenarios a separation from the army. Being

Punctuality: Monochronic And Polychronic Culture
Punctuality : Monochronic and Polychronic Culture Marissa Gross BT Halim Help University One of the cultures depicted in the video included a
country without clocks. This raises the question, how are people ever on time? In most of the western culture, punctuality is a social norm. It is easy
to assume that the whole world views the concept of being punctual similarly, despite having a few minor alterations. For example, Malaysia's idea of
punctuality, or also known to locals as 'Malaysian Time' is a concept where people are still considered punctual, even if they are slightly late. Now, after

Once again, if a soldier continually fails to be at his place of duty in a timely fashion, one could easily come to the easy conclusion that he doesn't
care, and doesn't respect the Army, its customs, the unit, and its leaders. Selfless Service: it takes selflessness, and discipline, to be where you
need to be early, much less on time. By not taking the easy road and getting the extra bit of sleep or chow time, the soldier is demonstrating,
granted on a small scale, selfless service. A soldier being selfish and repetitively failing to show up on time to a formation does NOT display the
Army value of Selfless Service. Honor: a soldier that fails to be prompt/punctual, isn't honoring the unwritten code of the Army and its tendency
/custom of showing up early. The army is having some soldiers make a presentation at a school and instead of being there on time (ten minutes
early) a few of the soldiers show up a few minutes late. That would make all soldiers look bad. It is not just the individuals honor that the Soldier
must think about, but that of the whole Army. Integrity: it takes integrity to do the right thing and be on time. Just like selfless service, a soldier
takes the high road by showing integrity and being where he needs to be in a prompt fashion, instead of being lazy. Personal Courage: it takes

the chain of command. With communication, punctuality and being at your prescribed place of duty all being essential facets of military life and
having a direct correlation to the soldierly appearance and combat readiness of a unit, these kinds of faults and mistakes cannot be allowed to
permeate our disciplined ranks and taint the effectiveness of our unit . Without punctuality, and therefore discipline there can be no effectiveness or
efficiency in our mission of protecting our own and destroying our enemies. If we cannot efficiently destroy the enemy we are no longer an effective
or worthwhile unit in the Army. Scheduling the work day and being accountable for each one of your soldiers is one of the most important duties any
leader in the Army has from a sergeant major all the way down to squad or team leader positions. With that being said, I cannot express enough that
being at the right place at the right time is extremely essential to the defense of the entire United States of America and extremely essential to mission

However, the lack of flexibility has been faulted by critics who believe that the Japanese people are too obsessed with time keeping and precision. However, the origin of such values is still unknown to many with questions arising on whether such values existed before industrialization in Japan. The fact that the values are associated with Japan's position as a global economic powerhouse raises concern on the origin of such values. When a unit has a soldier that does not appear to want to be there, it can severally affect its morale and overall performance. Not to mention the time that is lost in training and dealing with the concerns and needs of other soldiers when a leader has to take the time out of their day in order to deal with the problems of just one. It is unfair to all others involved when these circumstances arise and vital time is taken from those who are doing the right thing. Seeing one soldier being treated differently, weather this treatment be positive or negative, sets this soldier apart from the rest. This difference in treatment further undermines that unit's esprit de corps and cohesion. • 23. Punctuality And The American Capitalist Mentality "Strict punctuality is perhaps the cheapest virtue which can give force to an otherwise utterly insignificant character." (J.F. Boyes) Punctuality is one of the cornerstones of the American Capitalist mindset. From birth, being on time is constantly stressed as a necessary skill that is needed to truly be successful in the world. Lateness is not a tolerated from school, work, and even outings with friends. Even for the most loyal friend and employee chronic failure to arrive on time could lead to the demise of a relationship with the other party. No matter the excuse or reason "Lateness is defined as arriving at a setting after the start of a scheduled event." (Harrison and Price 2003, p.205). Consequently immediately after the event starts or it passes the time someone either agreed or was told to be somewhere they are late. Mastery of this skill is not easily achieved which is self–evident, as a majority of the population knows someone who is never on time, or may even be that individual themselves. Unfortunately people who are constantly late have a bad stigma associated with themselves. Adjectives like rude, inconsiderate, and lazy are constantly being thrown in their direction. Though the blame may be of no fault of their own. What causes this pattern of disregard for the strict standards everyone else listens to that time places? Scheduling the work day is one of the most important duties any leader in the Army or the Armed Forces for that matter, tackle each and every day. Being at the right place at the right time for any member of the Armed forces is extremely essential to the defense of the entire United States of America. Accountability also goes hand in hand with the topic at hand. The liability of the Soldier is of extreme importance. For every component of his everyday and war time duties depend on his level of accountability. Which ranges from: being on time for the first formation of the day in garrison, being on time to relieve a fellow Soldier from his post, or being on time to provide critical reinforcements for a battle weakened and compromised force. As the theory goes, how one trains is how one fights. Using this logic one can only come to the conclusion that if a Soldier isn't on time how can he save and protect the lives of his brothers in arms? The answer is simple, he can't. He can't be depended upon if he isn't disciplined enough to be on time every time he is ordered. He also weakens the combat readiness of his platoon if he isn't at the right place at the right time. For example a HMMWV cannot roll out of the base to complete a mission if the gunner isn't manning the turret, locked and loaded. That will be a no–go each and every time. Dependability is the key to discipline and ultimately being punctual. I say this because punctuality requires the Soldier to be dependable and the more dependable he is the more disciplined he is. Furthermore, the more disciplined he is the more punctual he is, the more punctual he is the safer his battle buddies will be, which in–turn improves the mission success rate. As well as the overall effectiveness of the platoon, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 2001, a CareerBuilder survey reported that a total of 15 percent of American workers were late at least once per week. When lateness does occur, its effects are felt and spread throughout the workplace. Though the importance of time management, punctuality, and accountability may seem obvious, the impact in reality has quite a few shrewd layers. When a leader is late or absent from work, it can send mixed messages to his employees or soldiers, which may lower moral. On the other hand, when a leader is punctual, it shows a hard work ethic that will make the employees aspire to be like that individual. Lateness will lead to stress of getting into trouble, stress will lead to poor performance in your place of work. After you begin to be consistently late to work you will start to rationalize why you're late. When this begins to happen, people tend to start blaming everyone and everything else instead of focusing on possible solutions to the actual problem. Eventually you will see a pattern and you'll be stuck in it, and when that becomes normal to you your job will be in danger. Diana DeLonzer states that ten minutes of being late over the course of an entire year will end up costing you the equivalency of one week's paid vacation. I once read that George Washington's passion for punctuality was born from his early study of "The Rules of Civility"– his repeated copying of maxims like "Undertake not what you cannot perform but be careful to keep your promise." For George Washington, being on time was a way of showing respect to others, and he expected to be treated with the same level of respect in return. Compare And Contrast Metropolis And Mental Life By Simmel In his essay "Metropolis and Mental Life", German sociologist, Georg Simmel, describes characteristics of big cities that influence individuals. Simmel writes that precision and punctuality is a basis for metropolitan life. He asserts that without "exact punctuality" a city's economy would "break down into an inextricable chaos" (Simmel). Although Simmel claims that cities would be entropic without punctuality, there is a trade off between the disorder of the city and the disorder of minds of its inhabitants. The constant need to be aware of time in metropolitan areas affects the psychological state of individuals and leads many to find escapes of time. Frank O'Hara, a museum curator from New York City, writes poetry that reflects the internal chaos of individuals living in a world of precision and punctuality. In "A Step Away From Them", it is clear that New York's precision and punctuality influences O'Hara. Tardiness is a very unattractive quality when it comes to most aspects of one's life: family functions, meetings, interviews, and especially a job. Being consistently tardy makes one unreliable and shows a lack of respect for other people's time and obligations. Being late tells others that one person can be waited on, while everyone else can't. The reason I have a hard time going to sleep at that time is because I usually go for a run, go to the gym and like to do homework or organize my room before at night when I could be sleeping, so those things consume a lot of my evening time. I would consider this a pendulum. I find myself exhausted during the day which lowers my motivation to do certain tasks. At nighttime though, I get energy which increases my motivation to do things like; working out, cleaning, and homework. I need to find out how to balance my time more efficiently because I need to make sure I get more sleep at night. If I don't get enough sleep, I will end up struggling in my classes. This... Be a good kid and don't waste your time at any parties, or at least not at this point in your life because you have time for those things when you are older. I have never been to a party and it has saved me a lot of time catching up on sleep and homework. Eat on a regular basis because we both know you get hungry quite often and you cant get much done when you're hungry, this will also keep you healthy if you eat healthy food. Also, watch out for the girls in your hall they like to hang up rude posters in the bathroom so just keep ripping them off the wall to save others the trouble. Oh, and wear shower shoes. • 35. Essay on The Importance of Punctuality Being punctual is important for numerous reasons, all of which can be applied to both military and civilian life, as well as your work life and social life. I think it is important because it shows that you have respect for others. If someone is consistently late to events it shows others around them that they have little or no respect for others and their time. Time is a valuable thing and it should be viewed as such. If a person has commitments and responsibilities involving others, they should realize that others time is just as important as their own. Someone that is consistently late shows others that they believe their time is more valuable than others. Also by being late a person disrupts all the others involved in the event, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As someone new to our company I should have considered this. My actions have set a negative impression of myself for my fellow soldiers and my NCOs'. Instead of being viewed in a good light it may be possible that I am seen as someone that is irresponsible and undependable. If I am unable to manage my time effectively and be on time, others may have the impression that I am not responsible enough to do my job efficiently and correctly. In turn that impression could affect my career for a long period of time. Along with being respectful and responsible, being on time also means that you are more likely to know what is going on. Most of the time, the beginning of a meeting or a formation for that matter may be used to put out important information. Information in which leaders think is pertinent. If someone is late to a formation or meeting they run the risk of not getting the information put out or getting a misconstrued version from a fellow person. Without proper information that person is more likely to be late again and again starting a cycle that may be hard to break. As someone in the military this is something that should be avoided. A cycle of not being in the right place at the right time could lead to punishment such as UCMJ, extra duty, and in some scenarios a separation from the army. Being on time also sets a good example for others, if someone is late without ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 38. Essay about Importance of Punctuality in the Military Punctuality Punctuality is a very important part of military life for several reasons. one reason is that if someone is late for a patrol or convoy that patrol or convoy might haveto leave without that person. Another reason is because it will make whoever your relieving have to stay at work for longer than they are supposed to, tired and sluggish because of that fact, giving a high chance that whatever work that person does would be sub par and not up to standards because of lack of sleep. Being Punctual shows your chain of command that you are dependable. they can count on you to follow orders and be where you are supposed to be at the right place at the right time. Doing this lead to them trusting you with a little more responsibility as time goes on. being late however shows them that you can not be relied on to do anything if you cant even be somewhere on time. being on time is the easiest thing to do in the military andif you cant even do that how is your chain of command supposed to trust you with anything else? Being punctual also shows your chain of command that you have the discipline to be somewhere when you are supposed to. Having the discipline to follow orders shows them as you spend more time in the military that just maybe your ready for that next promotion or to be put in to go to the board so you can become an NCO yourself. On the other hand not being punctual shows them that you have no discipline, which makes them have to limit the things you are allowed to do even when your off duty for the day because if they cant trust you to be ... • 39. Punctuality: Monochronic And Polychronic Culture Punctuality : Monochronic and Polychronic Culture Marissa Gross BT Halim Help University One of the cultures depicted in the video included a country without clocks. This raises the question, how are people ever on time? In most of the western culture, punctuality is a social norm. It is easy to assume that the whole world views the concept of being punctual similarly, despite having a few minor alterations. For example, Malaysia's idea of punctuality, or also known to locals as 'Malaysian Time' is a concept where people are still considered punctual, even if they are slightly late. Now, after extensive research, it turns out that it's not just 'Malaysian Time ', but there actually is a distinct grouping of cultures based on a specific countries idea of punctuality. ... The mono–chronic culture regards time as linear, lateness and interruptions are not tolerated and people do one thing at a time, whereas the poly–chronic culture views time as cyclical, interruptions are acceptable and punctuality does not matter (Daily Telegraph, 1999). Since the polychronic culture is rather different from the western view on punctuality, we shall further discuss it. Business Mexico (2002) described people from polychronic cultures as more productive due to the fact that they are able to multitask and deal with multiple problems at one time. Hence polychronic people have an easier time adapting to jobs which require to be able to do a multiple things a the same time, for instance interpreters who listen to one language and then speak in another (Business Mexico, ... • 40. Essay for Being Late. The main reason for this essay is because I did not follow out proper orders and was not at the correct place of duty for PT/Accountability formation at the correct time. Although there was a miscommunication, granted on my half, there is still no excuse for me to miss a formation. I want to be an excellent soldier and I want to excel in the military. The first step I need to put into action is always making sure I am at the appropriate place of duty at the correct time or preferably with time to spare. This is a simple task that is easy and painless to ensure, and it will be accomplished. Punctuality shows that you are responsible, trustworthy and can follow directions. Once again, if a soldier continually fails to be at his place of duty in a timely fashion, one could easily come to the easy conclusion that he doesn't care, and doesn't respect the Army, its customs, the unit, and its leaders. Selfless Service: it takes selflessness, and discipline, to be where you need to be early, much less on time. By not taking the easy road and getting the extra bit of sleep or chow time, the soldier is demonstrating, granted on a small scale, selfless service. A soldier being selfish and repetitively failing to show up on time to a formation does NOT display the Army value of Selfless Service. Honor: a soldier that fails to be prompt/punctual, isn't honoring the unwritten code of the Army and its tendency /custom of showing up early. The army is having some soldiers make a presentation at a school and instead of being there on time (ten minutes early) a few of the soldiers show up a few minutes late. That would make all soldiers look bad. It is not just the individuals honor that the Soldier must think about, but that of the whole Army. Integrity: it takes integrity to do the right thing and be on time. Just like selfless service, a soldier takes the high road by showing integrity and being where he needs to be in a prompt fashion, instead of being lazy. Personal Courage: it takes Personal Courage physically to get up, get ready, and be where the soldier needs to be. It takes Personal Courage morally to do the right thing, just like ... • 41. Being in the Right Place at the Right Time; Army The main reason for this essay is because I did not follow standard operating procedure and was not at the correct place of duty for accountability of my person while on quarters as prescribed by my doctor. Regardless of my reasons for absence, there is no excuse as to why I was not in my barracks room as I had been ordered to be or at a minimum give a courtesy call to my chain of command if I needed to go anywhere for any reason. I want to be an excellent soldier and I want to excel in the military, but in order to be such a soldier I need to be more responsible for my actions. I feel that, being a new soldier in this unit, I have some wonderful examples from my superiors and soldiers who have been here longer and I should follow their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, if I had not been in my room when I was on quarters, and a fire had erupted in the barracks, I would now be putting my battle buddies or superiors trying to locate me at an extreme and unnecessary risk, especially if they were unable to contact me by phone or if I had not contacted the chain of command. With communication, punctuality and being at your prescribed place of duty all being essential facets of military life and having a direct correlation to the soldierly appearance and combat readiness of a unit, these kinds of faults and mistakes cannot be allowed to permeate our disciplined ranks and taint the effectiveness of our unit . Without punctuality, and therefore discipline there can be no effectiveness or efficiency in our mission of protecting our own and destroying our enemies. If we cannot efficiently destroy the enemy we are no longer an effective or worthwhile unit in the Army. Scheduling the work day and being accountable for each one of your soldiers is one of the most important duties any leader in the Army has from a sergeant major all the way down to squad or team leader positions. With that being said, I cannot express enough that being at the right place at the right time is extremely essential to the defense of the entire United States of America and extremely essential to mission readiness and being able to complete the mission promptly. It 's because of this that being where I am instructed to be is so remarkably important. Without ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
