This paper explores the integration of hermeneutic approaches in knowledge organization (KO) to enhance understanding of knowledge complexity and meaning. It contrasts traditional heuristic models with hermeneutic principles, highlighting the importance of context, user participation, and the social construction of knowledge in information systems. By examining case studies and the implications of language games, the paper proposes alternative methodologies for developing multilingual knowledge organization systems that better reflect diverse cultural perspectives.
