Personal Narrative Essay About Summer 2016
We're only several days away from 2017 and I'm sure we can all agree that 2016 was a really, almost
unbearably, long and turbulent year for many of us. We've been graced with everything ranging
from people becoming dogs on Snapchat to Vine being shutdown and lets not forget McDonalds
introduced a 24–hours breakfast menu. Although 2016 was the worst we're going to recap on all the
good and bad things this year has given us incase you forgot. The beginning of this year on January
6th Star Wars: The Force Awakens shatter box office records topping Avatar within 20 days of its
release. Unfortunately within the same month on January 8th many innocent people fell sick from
toxic and contaminated water found in the taps of many homes in Flint, Michigan. ... Show more

Around the same time we made history by putting Harriet Tubman on the twenty–dollar bill. This
made her the first women to be on a USD note, but if you look close enough at it you might find
evidence that Ted Cruz is the Zodiac Killer. Summer is when it got really crazy when a three year
old climbed into a gorilla enclosure at the Cincinnati zoo and you know the rest of that story. June
12th was a tragic day as members of ISIS attacked an Orlando nightclub. Many were wounded or
killed leaving us in tear. While on the other side of the ocean we witness Great Britain leaving the
European Union decimating their economy at the time. On July 6th Pokémon GO was released,
sweeping the entire nation off their couches and off wandering into the middle of the road or their
neighbor's backyards. Down south people cheered on in Rio, Brazil for the 2016 Olympic games
while the "Zika" virus and Caveman SpongeBob started making its first appearance in the states. In
America citizens are angry with the police, Target restrooms, and missing emails. Radio stations, car
stereos, and headphones were bumping to the top hip–hop tracks Panda and Broccoli because it was
"lit". All while Galaxy Note 7s all across the nation had to be recalled because they were literally

What Is My Responsibility To America Essay
My Responsibility to America
As American citizens, it is our responsibility to reach our highest potential. That potential in our
career, our families, our way of living, and by being the best person we can be. Every citizen has
their own responsibilities, none being exactly the same, but some being very similar. As citizens, we
owe it to America to hold our country to the highest standard. We, the citizens make our country a
great place to live. We are responsible for making that statement true. Some citizens' responsibility
is minimal, while others take on a higher responsibility. America is full of opportunities to find
responsibility. We take whatever responsibility fits us, and use it to better our country. I, too, have a
responsibility to America; my responsibilities including serving my country, working in my career,
and achieving my dreams. My most important responsibility to me will be ... Show more content on

I want to help design air and space craft that will be more efficient. Advancement in technology is
very important not only in the military, but for all citizens as well. Citizens travel across the country
and the world everyday in airplanes. Some of these airplanes still get the job done, but are getting
quite old. I want to help make airplanes more efficient by lowering the cost, and making them more
available. Making airplanes more available and less expensive will allow industries to build newer
models which will improve the safety of the airplanes. Not only do I want to improve the efficiency,
I want to improve designs as well. As an engineer, I will work to enhance the technology inside and
outside of the airplane. In the military, this would especially be crucial in time war. Our soldiers
need the best airplanes with the best systems we have to offer. My job everyday would fulfill a
responsibility to the American citizens with air travel, and our soldiers with

Breaking The Norm Analysis
The norm I decided to break was to stop cursing. This is something I have tried to do for the last
year and a half; but I have failed terribly. In attempting to accomplish this project/assignment I
stopped using profanity, and used words or fruit names in place of the profane word I would
normally use. I was judge by my friends in a comical way, and also this was very tough for me to
do, but I accomplished this tough feat. On the first day of me breaking the norm of using profanity
regularly I wanted to start around my friends; because I knew I would get some amazing responses
from them. Each time an opportunity would come for me to use a phrase that involved profane
language I would say "son of a mother" very loud. My friend's faces were

Reflection Essay
The lesson I'm going to tell you about was a very important one. It shaped me into who I am today,
and the outlook I have on things. This might not be a situation that other people would think would
be important, or necessary, or something you should remember for years to come. But this moment
has stuck with me since I was 8. This instance was when I Skipped school back in 3rd grade. I have
a pretty good memory about things that happened to me when I was younger. I remember this day
perfectly. It was a couple weeks after school started. I didn't really like school, I either told my mom
that I was sick or I went to school and not try my best in my classes. I told my mom that day that I
was sick, she believed because she hasn't caught on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The only time my mom lets us kids sit in the front is when she is super mad at us. When we were
driving home it felt like an entirety, but in truth it was only 10 minutes. She talked to me sternly.
When we got home, I was grounded for a week. I couldn't do anything. I had this birthday party that
I was invited to that weekend, but I couldn't go because of what I had done. I also missed this huge
test in school that I didn't know about, missing that test brought my grade down a significant
amount. That was a day where I knew deep down that school was important and I knew that I
needed to try my best in school, so I can get the best of education. The lesson I learned that day is
that I really needed to go to school to get the best of my education. I missed school a lot the
following year, more than I should. I really do procrastinate a lot with my school work, but I do get
things done. I try hard on my school work, and try my best at everything I do. Every time I get
anything done I feel great about myself. I am not the best at school, and sometimes somethings don't
make sense to me and it's hard for me to understand, but at the end of the day I make myself learn,
listen, and understand, I don't take things for granted like some people do in school these days. They
don't further their education or they are dropouts in high school. I strive not to be like them. Because
of that day back when I was eight, I learned a valuable lesson; not to take school for granted, try

Group Work Application Essay
I make schoolwork my priority along with getting involved in high school clubs and activities. I am
an organized, hard–working person and I am always willing to take on a challenge to gain more
experience and knowledge. Once I put my mind to something, I stick with it until I am completely
satisfied with my result. I am always searching for other tasks and opportunities because I know that
there is more out there for me to reach my fullest potential. I keep myself open to new ideas and I
am always willing to share what I have learned. This quality I feel helps me get along with others.
My motivation and hard work academically is displayed individually and through group work. In
group work, I take the initiative to lead my peers and make their voices heard so we all have input
on classwork or a project. I am the person in my group that will lead the team during presentations
because I am confident with my work and I want to lead my peers to success. With the leadership

I was devastated. I spent weeks focusing my time and energy on that application. I felt like all of my
academic goals were washed down the drain. I felt unmotivated and very depressed that I focused
all my time and energy on this one goal that I had no evidence that I had hobbies or was good at
anything else. Looking back on that day, it made me realize that I had no personal goals for myself
nor was I focusing on making myself happy. I thought I was making myself happy by excelling in
school but what I lacked was assurance in myself. With that newly gained self–assurance and
support, I met my best friend that year who opened up a whole new door of possibilities for me
mentally. I am happier than I was a year ago today. I am still academically driven but now I have the
personal experiences to go along with it like volunteering or even as simple as saying yes to going

Personal Narrative : My Best Friend
There's a saying that goes, "a good friend knows all your best stories, a best friend has lived them
with you". I deem this to be very true as it relates to my life and what I consider my best outdoor
memory. I remember the day like it was yesterday, with my best friend, Kyah, that I had not seen in
months.
Our friendship began in the 6th grade during our lunch period. We both posses a similar personality
– silly, bold, fun, outspoken, the list goes on. During lunch, our table wanted to play "Truth or
Dare". Our rule was "whoever you are sitting across from is who you would challenge". Indeed,
Kyah was the person sitting across from me. Young and foolish, when it became my turn I dared her
to go to the middle of the entire cafeteria (where it was plenty of open space) and start break–
dancing. To my surprise she actually did it along with a back flip. Eventually, we were caught and
everyone at our table parents were called. Despite getting in trouble, from that day on we became
the best of friends.
Fast forward to our 8th grade year, we were always excited for what high school had in store for us.
Larger student body, more freedom, Friday night football games, homecoming, prom and of course
graduation. We were more than ready to start our high school journey together. Sadly though, that
did not happen.
Kyah's parents decided to get a divorce and her mom wanted to move back to her home town,
Cincinnati, Ohio. It was decided that her brothers would live with her dad and her mom

The Bass And Sheila Mant Summary
Sydni Scherr Due Date: Friday, Sep.23
Journal 1
I have read "The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant" by W.D Wetherell. This story is about a fourteen
year old boy who is trying to impress a seventeen year old girl. In this journal I will be questioning
and evaluating.
G pick Sheila or bass?
Y bass R fish a lot/auto R important–doesn't dump rod R big!!!
Y Sheila R attractive/17 R watches her R willing to hide the most important thing in his life
G I think he will pick the fish because he will realize that he's too young
In this story I wonder if the narrator picks the bass over Sheila. One option is that he will pick the
bass. The narrator fishes a ton because he always practices, For example the story states during the

One way she was self centered is when she was always complaining about something. Weather is
was every last noise or when her feet were hurting from being in the canoe. Second is when they
were in the canoe she never once said thank you. She also was always talking about herself and
what she did, and what she enjoyed. She never asked about him and how he was doing. Last she was
speaking her mind and her opinions before thinking, like she had hatred towards fishing, and that
was the narrator passion. Also when Sheila told the narrator he's funny, odd, different, and dreamy.
Sheila was very big headed in many ways, but there's three main points in this story. First, she was
always having huge parties and she only invited the best group in her grade. Second, she always
wants the best of the best. For an example, she was asking the narrator if they can take her dad's car
to the party and not even appreciating the little things. She danced with the narrator for only a few
songs and then ditched him for Eric Caswell and leaving in his Corvette. Last Shelia never realized
or, even appreciated what the narrator did. Even when she would be at the swim meets the narrator
tried his best to at least get her to notice him and she never took notice. When he tried to make it
romantic to take a canoe ride there she almost seemed ungrateful as she would get settled in not
even looking at him. So all of these things that occurred in the story proves she is self centered and

my best times such as pictures of my family, every concert ticket I have ever been to, every single
movie I've ever gone and seen, and some important jewelry pieces that I wore till they were falling
apart. I want people to be able to edit my relic. I love making memories. This relic is on exterior,
which is covered in flowers. I believe bright colors and flowers represent me well. I'm very down to
earth and flowers are very important to me. I wear a flower everyday, whether in my hair or on my

Persuasive Essay On Winning
Competition is defined by the Merriam–Webster's Collegiate Dictionary as a contest between rivals.
Many views winning as the optimum outcome for their favorite athlete or sport's team. Henry
Russell Sanders said,"Sure, winning isn't everything; it's the only thing." A similar but different
phrase was echoed by Vince Lombardi. He said,"Winning isn't important, but the desire to win is."
The desire to win is what pushes all to be the best they can be. A healthy society should not be
obsessed with winning. Winning, after all, isn't what makes someone the best at something. Sure,
Suzy could win the tennis match, but if she has no drive to repeat the action of winning again,
what's the point? One example of why the desire to win is best is found in the life of Albert Einstein.
This man didn't really excel in school, but he kept working and trying his hardest. In fact, he
eventually went to solve many of the great mysteries of physics. However, he didn't make his
discoveries until later in life. This shows that if one keeps working hard things will eventually work
themselves out, even if it takes. Another example of this principle can found in the life of Phiona.
She learned to play chess as a little girl in the slums of Uganda, and she eventually went on to
become a chess champion. She, however, wasn't always the best at chess. She lost the very first
game she ever played, and this loss sparked her desire to improve the game and to eventually win
many matches. She proves

Malcolm Gladwell's Outliers: The Story Of Success
I am a very determined person and I am so competitive it's almost unhealthy. I have always been
determined to be the strongest, be the best, be someone people won't forget. I haven't ever been the
best until I was determined to be better than everyone else. Everything to be in a competition, I try
to lift more than people, be faster than people, get better test scores than people; no matter what it is,
I want to be the best. According to the book "Outliers: The Story of Success" by Malcolm Gladwell,
"it takes roughly ten thousand hours of practice to achieve mastery in a field" (Gladwell 2013). This
quote speaks to me because volleyball didn't come natural to me. If I do the math and say I
practice/played at least 4 times a week for an hour since seventh grade, that is 1,040 hours. I know I
have practice/ played way more hour of that. To say the least, I was always playing. I was
determined to be the best. I was always had healthy competitions with my teammates, even if they
didn't know that.

I think visualizing has contributed to my success as an athlete. Visualizing keeps me calm and put
me in game mode. When I visualizing, I put my headphones in, close my eyes, and imagine my
perfect game. It helps be believe in myself and pushes me because I know I have the skills to win
every game I play. According to "Mental Toughness", in the journal Strategies by Tori Quinn and
Lauren Cavanaugh,
Visualization is one of the most effective ways for a player to prepare. It is very important to
imagine success before being physically ready to perform; if athletes visualize success, they are
more likely to obtain it.... The mind is a very powerful tool and can be a determining factor in the
final results. It is important to use visualization not only when athletes feel like they are performing
well, but also when they feel like they are unable to do anything right (Quinn & Cavanaugh

Tina's War: A Short Story
"Don't turn a minor disagreement into a flat out war, sometimes you just have to let things go." This
quote had a major impact on my life when me and best friend became not the best of friends. For
now, i'll call her Tina since as of now we're still not friends. We met at the beginning of 6th grade
and clicked from there since we were on the same "team" they had at our school. She was this loud
person that did anything she wanted while I was only this convivial with people I was comfortable

Tina decided to do a typical girl thing and text me and ask once again if was her supposedly best

Tina saying, "One question, If you were my supposed best friend why would you not tell what they

Choices By Nikki Giovanni
Even though someone is unhappy with their situation could they make the best out of it? Well, Nikki
Giovanni, an African–American poet, wrote the poem Choices which is speaks about how success
comes from doing things people are not satisfied with. In addition, if someone does not become the
person they want to be they can still be grateful for the things that they possess because regardless
there is still more to want. The choices that people make may not be a choice someone is expected
to have, but it's all about making the best of it. Nikki Giovanni may have not come from the best
life, but she made a living out of it by becoming a civil rights activist and a poet. The theme that
Nikki Giovanni is trying to emphasize is that happiness can come from the life people never
expected, but if one is grateful for the life they have then its self–satisfying. Happiness can come
from being humble which is showing a modes or low estimate of one's importance. Furthermore,
being optimistic which is a disposed on taking a favorable view of events or conditions and to ...

the poem, Nikki Giovanni learned to be optimistic because in the 1st and 2nd stanza, "If I can't do
what I want to do then my job is to not do what I don't want to do it's not the same thing but it's the
best I can do." In these lines, she is still trying to be optimistic with her life because even though she
is unhappy it was the best she could do, so she is going to not let the negativity affect

"Remember When"
Alan Jackson, a country music singer, is one of a few superstars who has built his career on
traditional country. He is "one of the greatest singers in country music that has written the best
songs in the history of the genre" (The Boot Staff). He has "written more than sixty singles and half
of them have reached to #1 on the charts" (The Boot Staff). Most of the songs that Alan Jackson has
written during his career are about his personal experiences. The song "Remember When" was
written "during a difficult period in his marriage, which was when he and his wife got separated and
then reconciled" several months later (The Boot Staff). In the song "Remember When" by Alan
Jackson, the lyrics, music video, and history reveal the events in his life with his wife so they will
remember as they grow old together.
In "Remember When", Alan Jackson reflects on his past with his wife on their life together.
Throughout the song, he mentions when they first met, getting married, separating, reconciling, and
growing a family. The phrase "Remember When" is used to return to his memories (Lyrics007). He
describes that when they got married, they had to learn to work through the good and bad times in
their relationship. In stanza 4, Alan Jackson states "the sound of little feet", this was when they
broke up and reconciled months later because their kids had such an impact on them that they did
not seek a divorce (Lyrics007).

Pros And Cons Of Authoritarian Leadership
There are several different styles of leadership that can be used by a leader, whether if it is within
the public services or not. Each style works at different points of a situation; therefore, a leader must
be able to change between the required leadership style to ensure that a task is completed to the best
of a team's ability. It is unlikely that only one type of leadership would be required during a task, so
if a leader cannot adapt, the task may not be completed.
Authoritarian
Authoritarian leadership; also known as autocratic leadership; is an extremely direct style of
leadership where the leader remains in control the whole time and tells the other team members
what they must do. The team are expected to follow orders without question or negotiation,
therefore this could demoralise a team due to their opinions and ideas not being heard. It is best to
use authoritarian when: a leader knows all the information, there is a strict deadline to which the
team must work to, or the team is used to this style of leadership as the leader can be very
demanding which people may not be used to. Authoritarian leadership may not get the best response
from a team as it mainly relies on intimidation to work efficiently.
Authoritarian leadership is mainly seen within the military (British Army, Royal Air Force and
Royal Navy) where discipline is a major factor of their training and day to day life.
There are both pros and cons with using authoritarian leadership, depending on

Villanova Research Paper
With two titles in the past three years, the Villanova Wildcats are on their way to becoming a
dynasty. Since the end of John Wooden's UCLA coaching tenure in 1975, only twice has a school
won two times in the span of three years. These were Duke's early 90's teams of Grant Hill, Bobby
Hurley, and Christian Laettner, and Florida's 2006–2007 teams of Joakim Noah, Al Horford, and
Corey Brewer, meaning the Wildcats have joined elite company. Once known as a top team during
the regular season who would flame out in March, Jay Wright's most recent teams have shattered
that belief.
Villanova has always prided itself on continuity and developing players within their system. In the
era of one–and–done basketball, where over 200 underclassmen have declared for the NBA Draft in
the last five years, Villanova has been largely immune. Although they lost four underclassmen this

Their top four scorers are gone to the NBA. Had Donte Divincenzo and Spellman, who were both

accomplishing something while activity merely means you've done something. Don't get me wrong,
I have always thought when a person is in doubt they should just do something! However, in the end
we're all measured by our achievement not our action. In order to adhere to a schedule to succeed in
my online class I believe I should achieve the following; creating realistic goals, devoting the
necessary time to complete tasks, and staying in communication with my instructor. The first step I
should do in order to adhere to my schedule is to create realistic goals. When setting realistic goals it
is really important to define what I would like to achieve.

Themes In The Alchemist
Becoming a better self The Choral Poem called The Alchemist, have a comparable theme as the
book The Alchemist, as a whole because they both reflect the importance of taking something and
make it not better but the best version of itself. Turning lead into gold. Transforming something
useless into something indispensable. In the book, Santiago reflects the theme in many differents
ways. One ways in which santiago reflects the theme is when he meet the crystal merchant and
helped him in the shop so much that it became the best crystal shop ever. According to the Merchant
on page 54, santiago has change this life and himself to the best version of themselves. For instance
on the book, it says, "Crystal Merchant: "I've had this shop for thirty years. I know good crystal
from bad, and everything else there is to know about crystal. I know its dimensions and how it
behaves. If we serve tea in the crystal, the shop is going to expand. And then I'll have to change my
way of life." / Boy: "Well, isn't that good?" / Crystal Merchant: "I'm already used to the way things
are. Before you came, I was thinking about how much time I had wasted in the same place, while
my friends had moved on, and either went bankrupt or did better than they had before. It made me
very depressed. Now, I can see that it hasn't been too bad. The shop is exactly the size I always
wanted it to be. I don't want to change anything, because I don't know how to deal with change. I'm
used to the way I am." The

LGBT Reflection Paper
The LGBT community has become highly prominent in the media over the past several years and
while it is prominent, society has failed to properly inform the teen youth of today's society about
the LGBT community which has resulted in a series of misconceptions. While the youth of today
has not been informed the best, Haley and I both being a part of the community, we felt it would be
best if we informed the teen youth within our school of the community. And while we did attempt to
educate the teen youth within our school and it didn't work out as we originally wanted it to we're
still satisfied with the end product that came from the work we put in on this project.
While we did work on this project for several months and it came the big responsibility to attempt to
help others we did learn some things about ourselves through the process of working on this project.
Over the time of the project we learned a lot about the way we manage time, originally we had made
plans to accomplish several things like talking to people like Erin Holbert, the Gender and Sexuality
Alliance club president, and Mrs. Manlief, the clubs sponsor, along with making a video, etc.
Though over time only a couple of the things we had planned got accomplished due to our
insufficient time management for the project. When Haley and I got together most of the time to
work on the project we usually worked together and it went well when we put our head together to
work on the project and we usually made sure

The Soundtrack of My Life For every song that comes on the radio or that is featured on a CD, there
is a personal meaning for the listener. Selecting five songs to represent my life was a difficult choice
because of this. The song selection that follows is organized by the artist's last name. 1. "Changes" –
Performed by David Bowie I don't know many people would could say that remember the first song
they ever heard on the radio. For me, that song was David Bowie's "Changes". I was in pre–school,
and my Mom had just picked me up at school. When she turned on the radio, I heard a song that I

"Wind Guide You" – Composed by Jeremey Soule If the "Orchestral Suite to the Inner Light" is, in
personal opinion, the most romantic instrumental to date, the most thought provoking is "Wind
Guide You" composed by Jeremey Soule. How could an instrumental be thought provoking?
Honestly, it's just a feeling I have. The best way that I can describe it is that "Wind Guide You" is
the retelling of a somber epic.
Every once in a while, I try my hand at freelance writing (purely as a hobby), and this piece is my
go to in finding inspiration for my work. Jeremy Soule's "Wind Guide You" was featured in the
video game The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and first appeared on the soundtrack album of the same
name in 2011. 5. "Memory" – Performed by Barbra Streisand When it comes to vocal music, I will
confess that I typically listen to male artists. It's just personal taste. For me, there are only three
female vocalists that I could listen to for more than one or two songs. My favorite female vocalist?
Barbra Streisand. I watched the musical film Funny Girl once when I was very young. I could care
less for the film, but I loved Streisand's signing voice. Many years later, I had the opportunity to
purchase one her greatest hits collection and have enjoyed it ever

Tim Acklin Award Analysis
I believe that I, Laura Benitez, deserve the Tim Acklin Award because I always intend to exceed the
expectations that are given to me. I was raised and taught that going above and beyond is the only
way to work. Whether it be in schoolwork or doing simple errands, working harder and doing more
than is expected is what sets me apart from others. It is very easy to become idle and to find the easy
way out, but I have aimed to always push myself and become engaged with stimulating groups of
people. Throughout high school, I have held multiple leadership roles and committed to different
activities. I was able to maintain these extra–curriculars, athletic training, and a GPA of 4.18. Even

Racial Discrimination And Its Effects On American Culture
If there is one thing I have noticed during my, admittedly, short sixteen years, it is the racial
discrimination and obvious bigotry of the those who are not "white". Stereotypes and detrimental
comments are slung every which way. Others, rely on subtle jabs while some are oblivious to the
offense of the people they are around. It seems to me, that people do not seem to care. I have
listened to countless conversations where people would nonchalantly insult their own culture and
heritage as if they were being humorous. I have friends who would willingly describe themselves as
whitewashed. Washwashed: Used to cover up or gloss over faults, errors, or wrongdoings, or
absolve a wrongdoer from blame. It is interesting to say in the least. What are they saying that is
wrong? Are we wrong to have been forcefully and unknowingly assimilated into Western culture? I
have spent so much time learning English from a young age that my competence with my mother
tongue is practically nonexistent. We live in a multicultural country, but Canada had only been
known for its hospitality and welcoming atmosphere for a couple of decades. Funny how many
ugly, bloody things can be quickly swept under the rug. The Komagata Maru is an excellent
example of racial discrimination, as well as the many residential schools that wrecked abuse and
havoc upon so many Native families. On a short term mission 's trip this summer, we were invited

New York State : Nine Characteristics Of An Effective Leader
New York State has nine characteristics of an effective leader. At a minimum a good leader should
have at least four of the nine characteristics. The first and main quality, I believe is to know and
understand what it takes to be a leader. In order to be successful in any role, you must know the role
and understand what it entails. Furthermore you must be aware of the challenges and issues that
may arise while in the positions. For example as a principal you may be required to work long and
late hours. That fact may be an issue for some people depending on their family dynamic. In
addition you will have to be ok with making decisions that will not please everyone. Some may
have difficulty delivering bad news or not being liked. It's important to know what you are up
against, because you do not want to accept a job as educational leader and realize that it is not the
job for you. The second quality of an effective leader is to have a vision. The vision should also
include the schools missions, purpose and goals. The principal should be progressive and constantly
looking for ways to keep the staff and students motivated to work towards a common goal. As an
effective leader you must continuously promote the vision. This could be done with a school created
slogan that fits the community. Most people want to belong and feel a part of something successful
or on the path to greatness. It is a wonderful feeling to be a member of a successful school
community where people really

Remember When By Alan Jackson
"Remember When"
Alan Jackson has been named one of the best songwriters in county music and most of the songs
that he has written during his career are about his personal experiences. He is "one of the greatest
singers in country music that has written the best songs in the history of the genre" (The Boot Staff).
The song "Remember When" was written "during a difficult period in his marriage, which was
when he and his wife got separated and then reconciled" several months later (The Boot Staff). In
the song "Remember When" by Alan Jackson, the lyrics, music video, and history reveal the events
in his life with his wife so they will remember as they grow old together.
In "Remember When", Alan Jackson reflects on his past with his wife on their life together.
Throughout the song, he mentions when they first met, getting married, separating, reconciling, and
growing a family. The phrase "Remember When" is used to return to his memories (Lyrics007). He
describes that when they got married, they had to work to make their relationship work. In stanza 4,
Alan Jackson states "the sound of little feet", this was when they broke up and came back together
months later because their kids had such an impact on them that they did not seek a divorce
(Lyrics007). In stanza 5, when he writes that "when thirty seemed old", they are old now and
thought that thirty was old since they got married at a young age (Lyrics007). Towards the
conclusion of the song, they vow to stay together forever

activities and puzzles for the kids more than I do with thee more leg room of taking out some rows.
Mainly I think so because the kid's ideas are less expensive and a better opportunity to be more
affordable than my first idea of taking out seats. Taking out seats and rows would make a decrease
in financial profit and South West airlines wouldn't make as much money as they did before taking
out the rows. So again the kid's activities are a best financial saving plan. This idea would have a
positive effect and reflect on the firm as having happier kids and parents, also the person next to

In the novel, Travel Team, by Mike Lupica, the main character, Danny Walker, is one of the best
basketball players in his home town. Basketball talent runs in the family, as his dad, Richie, was

of the most successful players in his town. However, tryouts do not go as plan and Danny ends up

The Road Not Taken Research Paper
Essay
"The Road Not Taken" is a very popular poem written by the renowned poet Robert Frost. This
poem tells a story of a man caught between two diverged roads and uncertain on which path he
should take. These two roads are quite obviously metaphors for the different paths you can take in
life, but what is less obvious is which path the narrator should take, and which he should leave
behind. Throughout the poem the narrator is constantly second guessing himself on which of the
two roads he should take. He reassures himself by saying that one of the roads seemed more grassy
than the other and also seemed less traveled upon. But shortly after he reveals that in actuality the
two roads were both quite the same. In the end he finally makes a decision but shows much regret
after making it. This poem may not be much of a fairytale but Robert Frost does have a theme
behind this story, which is to make the best of your opportunities. Since you can obviously not be

In the first line of the poem Frost already begins to lay out his setting for the reader saying, "Two
roads diverged in a yellow wood"(1). This allows the reader to visually see what the narrator sees,
which makes the poem much more powerful and realistic. Also Frost had to use imagery to put
reader in the narrator's shoes, so it's as if the reader also has to make the decision on which road is
the best to take. Even though the roads are not any different from each other, the details the narrator
gives makes even the reader for a moment believe that one is better than the other. This
manipulation that Frost creates using imagery makes the reader experience first hand the theme that
he made which is to make the best of your situation. Frost was able to put the reader in the same
situation and cause them to even weigh their options for a

where we come from. Family stands by our sides through thick and thin and brings out the best in

Family is a strong bond that keeps us together, and there are a lot of values that come with the

many of them would not be called handsome or pretty. Some of them are downright ugly. I hope
they are not my relatives but they probably are. Sadly I have no relatives left that could identify

Personal Narrative Essay About Summer 2016

  • 1. Personal Narrative Essay About Summer 2016 We're only several days away from 2017 and I'm sure we can all agree that 2016 was a really, almost unbearably, long and turbulent year for many of us. We've been graced with everything ranging from people becoming dogs on Snapchat to Vine being shutdown and lets not forget McDonalds introduced a 24–hours breakfast menu. Although 2016 was the worst we're going to recap on all the good and bad things this year has given us incase you forgot. The beginning of this year on January 6th Star Wars: The Force Awakens shatter box office records topping Avatar within 20 days of its release. Unfortunately within the same month on January 8th many innocent people fell sick from toxic and contaminated water found in the taps of many homes in Flint, Michigan. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Around the same time we made history by putting Harriet Tubman on the twenty–dollar bill. This made her the first women to be on a USD note, but if you look close enough at it you might find evidence that Ted Cruz is the Zodiac Killer. Summer is when it got really crazy when a three year old climbed into a gorilla enclosure at the Cincinnati zoo and you know the rest of that story. June 12th was a tragic day as members of ISIS attacked an Orlando nightclub. Many were wounded or killed leaving us in tear. While on the other side of the ocean we witness Great Britain leaving the European Union decimating their economy at the time. On July 6th Pokémon GO was released, sweeping the entire nation off their couches and off wandering into the middle of the road or their neighbor's backyards. Down south people cheered on in Rio, Brazil for the 2016 Olympic games while the "Zika" virus and Caveman SpongeBob started making its first appearance in the states. In America citizens are angry with the police, Target restrooms, and missing emails. Radio stations, car stereos, and headphones were bumping to the top hip–hop tracks Panda and Broccoli because it was "lit". All while Galaxy Note 7s all across the nation had to be recalled because they were literally too ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. What Is My Responsibility To America Essay My Responsibility to America As American citizens, it is our responsibility to reach our highest potential. That potential in our career, our families, our way of living, and by being the best person we can be. Every citizen has their own responsibilities, none being exactly the same, but some being very similar. As citizens, we owe it to America to hold our country to the highest standard. We, the citizens make our country a great place to live. We are responsible for making that statement true. Some citizens' responsibility is minimal, while others take on a higher responsibility. America is full of opportunities to find responsibility. We take whatever responsibility fits us, and use it to better our country. I, too, have a responsibility to America; my responsibilities including serving my country, working in my career, and achieving my dreams. My most important responsibility to me will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I want to help design air and space craft that will be more efficient. Advancement in technology is very important not only in the military, but for all citizens as well. Citizens travel across the country and the world everyday in airplanes. Some of these airplanes still get the job done, but are getting quite old. I want to help make airplanes more efficient by lowering the cost, and making them more available. Making airplanes more available and less expensive will allow industries to build newer models which will improve the safety of the airplanes. Not only do I want to improve the efficiency, I want to improve designs as well. As an engineer, I will work to enhance the technology inside and outside of the airplane. In the military, this would especially be crucial in time war. Our soldiers need the best airplanes with the best systems we have to offer. My job everyday would fulfill a responsibility to the American citizens with air travel, and our soldiers with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Breaking The Norm Analysis The norm I decided to break was to stop cursing. This is something I have tried to do for the last year and a half; but I have failed terribly. In attempting to accomplish this project/assignment I stopped using profanity, and used words or fruit names in place of the profane word I would normally use. I was judge by my friends in a comical way, and also this was very tough for me to do, but I accomplished this tough feat. On the first day of me breaking the norm of using profanity regularly I wanted to start around my friends; because I knew I would get some amazing responses from them. Each time an opportunity would come for me to use a phrase that involved profane language I would say "son of a mother" very loud. My friend's faces were ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Reflection Essay The lesson I'm going to tell you about was a very important one. It shaped me into who I am today, and the outlook I have on things. This might not be a situation that other people would think would be important, or necessary, or something you should remember for years to come. But this moment has stuck with me since I was 8. This instance was when I Skipped school back in 3rd grade. I have a pretty good memory about things that happened to me when I was younger. I remember this day perfectly. It was a couple weeks after school started. I didn't really like school, I either told my mom that I was sick or I went to school and not try my best in my classes. I told my mom that day that I was sick, she believed because she hasn't caught on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only time my mom lets us kids sit in the front is when she is super mad at us. When we were driving home it felt like an entirety, but in truth it was only 10 minutes. She talked to me sternly. When we got home, I was grounded for a week. I couldn't do anything. I had this birthday party that I was invited to that weekend, but I couldn't go because of what I had done. I also missed this huge test in school that I didn't know about, missing that test brought my grade down a significant amount. That was a day where I knew deep down that school was important and I knew that I needed to try my best in school, so I can get the best of education. The lesson I learned that day is that I really needed to go to school to get the best of my education. I missed school a lot the following year, more than I should. I really do procrastinate a lot with my school work, but I do get things done. I try hard on my school work, and try my best at everything I do. Every time I get anything done I feel great about myself. I am not the best at school, and sometimes somethings don't make sense to me and it's hard for me to understand, but at the end of the day I make myself learn, listen, and understand, I don't take things for granted like some people do in school these days. They don't further their education or they are dropouts in high school. I strive not to be like them. Because of that day back when I was eight, I learned a valuable lesson; not to take school for granted, try ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Group Work Application Essay I make schoolwork my priority along with getting involved in high school clubs and activities. I am an organized, hard–working person and I am always willing to take on a challenge to gain more experience and knowledge. Once I put my mind to something, I stick with it until I am completely satisfied with my result. I am always searching for other tasks and opportunities because I know that there is more out there for me to reach my fullest potential. I keep myself open to new ideas and I am always willing to share what I have learned. This quality I feel helps me get along with others. My motivation and hard work academically is displayed individually and through group work. In group work, I take the initiative to lead my peers and make their voices heard so we all have input on classwork or a project. I am the person in my group that will lead the team during presentations because I am confident with my work and I want to lead my peers to success. With the leadership skills I ... I felt unmotivated and very depressed that I focused all my time and energy on this one goal that I had no evidence that I had hobbies or was good at anything else. Looking back on that day, it made me realize that I had no personal goals for myself nor was I focusing on making myself happy. I thought I was making myself happy by excelling in school but what I lacked was assurance in myself. With that newly gained self–assurance and support, I met my best friend that year who opened up a whole new door of possibilities for me mentally. I am happier than I was a year ago today. I am still academically driven but now I have the personal experiences to go along with it like volunteering or even as simple as saying yes to going out to dinner with a group of ... • 6. Personal Narrative : My Best Friend There's a saying that goes, "a good friend knows all your best stories, a best friend has lived them with you". I deem this to be very true as it relates to my life and what I consider my best outdoor memory. I remember the day like it was yesterday, with my best friend, Kyah, that I had not seen in months. Our friendship began in the 6th grade during our lunch period. We both posses a similar personality – silly, bold, fun, outspoken, the list goes on. During lunch, our table wanted to play "Truth or Dare". Our rule was "whoever you are sitting across from is who you would challenge". Indeed, Kyah was the person sitting across from me. Young and foolish, when it became my turn I dared her to go to the middle of the entire cafeteria (where it was plenty of open space) and start break– dancing. To my surprise she actually did it along with a back flip. Eventually, we were caught and everyone at our table parents were called. Despite getting in trouble, from that day on we became the best of friends. Fast forward to our 8th grade year, we were always excited for what high school had in store for us. Larger student body, more freedom, Friday night football games, homecoming, prom and of course graduation. We were more than ready to start our high school journey together. Sadly though, that did not happen. Kyah's parents decided to get a divorce and her mom wanted to move back to her home town, Cincinnati, Ohio. • 7. The Bass And Sheila Mant Summary Sydni Scherr Due Date: Friday, Sep.23 Journal 1 I have read "The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant" by W.D Wetherell. This story is about a fourteen year old boy who is trying to impress a seventeen year old girl. In this journal I will be questioning and evaluating. G pick Sheila or bass? Y bass R fish a lot/auto R important–doesn't dump rod R big!!! Y Sheila R attractive/17 R watches her R willing to hide the most important thing in his life G I think he will pick the fish because he will realize that he's too young In this story I wonder if the narrator picks the bass over Sheila. One option is that he will pick the bass. The narrator fishes a ton because he always practices, For example the story states during the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One way she was self centered is when she was always complaining about something. Weather is was every last noise or when her feet were hurting from being in the canoe. Second is when they were in the canoe she never once said thank you. She also was always talking about herself and what she did, and what she enjoyed. She never asked about him and how he was doing. Last she was speaking her mind and her opinions before thinking, like she had hatred towards fishing, and that was the narrator passion. Also when Sheila told the narrator he's funny, odd, different, and dreamy. Sheila was very big headed in many ways, but there's three main points in this story. First, she was always having huge parties and she only invited the best group in her grade. Second, she always wants the best of the best. For an example, she was asking the narrator if they can take her dad's car to the party and not even appreciating the little things. She danced with the narrator for only a few songs and then ditched him for Eric Caswell and leaving in his Corvette. Last Shelia never realized or, even appreciated what the narrator did. Even when she would be at the swim meets the narrator tried his best to at least get her to notice him and she never took notice. When he tried to make it romantic to take a canoe ride there she almost seemed ungrateful as she would get settled in not even looking at him. So all of these things that occurred in the story proves she is self centered and big ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Persuasive Essay On Winning Competition is defined by the Merriam–Webster's Collegiate Dictionary as a contest between rivals. Many views winning as the optimum outcome for their favorite athlete or sport's team. Henry Russell Sanders said,"Sure, winning isn't everything; it's the only thing." A similar but different phrase was echoed by Vince Lombardi. He said,"Winning isn't important, but the desire to win is." The desire to win is what pushes all to be the best they can be. A healthy society should not be obsessed with winning. Winning, after all, isn't what makes someone the best at something. Sure, Suzy could win the tennis match, but if she has no drive to repeat the action of winning again, what's the point? One example of why the desire to win is best is found in the life of Albert Einstein. This man didn't really excel in school, but he kept working and trying his hardest. In fact, he eventually went to solve many of the great mysteries of physics. However, he didn't make his discoveries until later in life. This shows that if one keeps working hard things will eventually work themselves out, even if it takes. Another example of this principle can found in the life of Phiona. She learned to play chess as a little girl in the slums of Uganda, and she eventually went on to become a chess champion. She, however, wasn't always the best at chess. She lost the very first game she ever played, and this loss sparked her desire to improve the game and to eventually win many matches. She proves ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. Choices By Nikki Giovanni Even though someone is unhappy with their situation could they make the best out of it? Well, Nikki Giovanni, an African–American poet, wrote the poem Choices which is speaks about how success comes from doing things people are not satisfied with. In addition, if someone does not become the person they want to be they can still be grateful for the things that they possess because regardless there is still more to want. The choices that people make may not be a choice someone is expected to have, but it's all about making the best of it. Nikki Giovanni may have not come from the best life, but she made a living out of it by becoming a civil rights activist and a poet. The theme that Nikki Giovanni is trying to emphasize is that happiness can come from the life people never expected, but if one is grateful for the life they have then its self–satisfying. Happiness can come from being humble which is showing a modes or low estimate of one's importance. • 16. Pros And Cons Of Authoritarian Leadership There are several different styles of leadership that can be used by a leader, whether if it is within the public services or not. Each style works at different points of a situation; therefore, a leader must be able to change between the required leadership style to ensure that a task is completed to the best of a team's ability. It is unlikely that only one type of leadership would be required during a task, so if a leader cannot adapt, the task may not be completed. Authoritarian Authoritarian leadership; also known as autocratic leadership; is an extremely direct style of leadership where the leader remains in control the whole time and tells the other team members what they must do. The team are expected to follow orders without question or negotiation, therefore this could demoralise a team due to their opinions and ideas not being heard. It is best to use authoritarian when: a leader knows all the information, there is a strict deadline to which the team must work to, or the team is used to this style of leadership as the leader can be very demanding which people may not be used to. Authoritarian leadership may not get the best response from a team as it mainly relies on intimidation to work efficiently. Since the end of John Wooden's UCLA coaching tenure in 1975, only twice has a school won two times in the span of three years. These were Duke's early 90's teams of Grant Hill, Bobby Hurley, and Christian Laettner, and Florida's 2006–2007 teams of Joakim Noah, Al Horford, and Corey Brewer, meaning the Wildcats have joined elite company. Once known as a top team during the regular season who would flame out in March, Jay Wright's most recent teams have shattered that belief. Villanova has always prided itself on continuity and developing players within their system. In the era of one–and–done basketball, where over 200 underclassmen have declared for the NBA Draft in the last five years, Villanova has been largely immune. • 27. New York State : Nine Characteristics Of An Effective Leader New York State has nine characteristics of an effective leader. At a minimum a good leader should have at least four of the nine characteristics. The first and main quality, I believe is to know and understand what it takes to be a leader. In order to be successful in any role, you must know the role and understand what it entails. Furthermore you must be aware of the challenges and issues that may arise while in the positions. For example as a principal you may be required to work long and late hours. That fact may be an issue for some people depending on their family dynamic. In addition you will have to be ok with making decisions that will not please everyone. Some may have difficulty delivering bad news or not being liked. It's important to know what you are up against, because you do not want to accept a job as educational leader and realize that it is not the job for you. The second quality of an effective leader is to have a vision. The vision should also include the schools missions, purpose and goals. The principal should be progressive and constantly looking for ways to keep the staff and students motivated to work towards a common goal. As an effective leader you must continuously promote the vision. This could be done with a school created slogan that fits the community. Most people want to belong and feel a part of something successful or on the path to greatness. It is a wonderful feeling to be a member of a successful school community where people really ... It was hard to accept that we had to travel across seas alone. The trip wasn't too costy and the place we landed at is definitely worthy of it's popularity. Compared to the UK it is so luxiourious and beautiful. I know how much you love your spas and all that nonsense and I think you will just die seeing these beautiful mineral springs. Locals are saying that the minerals in the springs have healing purposes for old or for the sick, and the water comes from the fresh mountain stream. Some even say that these springs are much better then those large cities you love going to in Europe. Can you believe it Millie? Even compared to Germany and France! This marketing opportunity is organized as a homerun; I do strongly recommend the coloring activities and puzzles for the kids more than I do with thee more leg room of taking out some rows. Mainly I think so because the kid's ideas are less expensive and a better opportunity to be more affordable than my first idea of taking out seats. Taking out seats and rows would make a decrease in financial profit and South West airlines wouldn't make as much money as they did before taking out the rows. So again the kid's activities are a best financial saving plan. This idea would have a positive effect and reflect on the firm as having happier kids and parents, also the person next to them. This marketing opportunity has no risk. Wal–Mart Wal–Mart has been around for years and as a marketing manager I have been selected to be interviewed for a job and be asked of three marketing opportunities to what I think could be helpful to Wal–Mart in any way of change. I would race my six year old brother, Rigo, running as fast as my little legs could move. Breathing heavily and legs feeling like jello I would race him over and over again. • 34. The Road Not Taken Research Paper Essay "The Road Not Taken" is a very popular poem written by the renowned poet Robert Frost. This poem tells a story of a man caught between two diverged roads and uncertain on which path he should take. These two roads are quite obviously metaphors for the different paths you can take in life, but what is less obvious is which path the narrator should take, and which he should leave behind. Throughout the poem the narrator is constantly second guessing himself on which of the two roads he should take. He reassures himself by saying that one of the roads seemed more grassy than the other and also seemed less traveled upon. But shortly after he reveals that in actuality the two roads were both quite the same. In the end he finally makes a decision but shows much regret after making it. This poem may not be much of a fairytale but Robert Frost does have a theme behind this story, which is to make the best of your opportunities. Since you can obviously not be able to see the ... This allows the reader to visually see what the narrator sees, which makes the poem much more powerful and realistic. Also Frost had to use imagery to put reader in the narrator's shoes, so it's as if the reader also has to make the decision on which road is the best to take. Even though the roads are not any different from each other, the details the narrator gives makes even the reader for a moment believe that one is better than the other. This manipulation that Frost creates using imagery makes the reader experience first hand the theme that he made which is to make the best of your situation. The Choral Poem In The Alchemist The Choral Poem called The Alchemist has a comparable theme as the book The Alchemist because they both reflect the importance of taking something simple and transform it not to something better although the best version of itself. In addition to that, When an individuals strive to become better than they were, everything around them becomes better too. According to the Merchant on page 54, Santiago has changed this life and himself to the best version of themselves. For instance, in the book, it says, "Crystal Merchant: "I've had this shop for thirty years. I know good crystal from bad, and everything else there is to know about crystal. I know its dimensions and how it behaves. If we serve tea in the crystal, the shop is going to expand. It made me very depressed. Now, I can see that it hasn't been too bad. The shop is exactly the size I always wanted it to be. I don't want to change anything, because I don't know how to deal with change. I'm used to the way I am." The boy didn't know what to say. The old man continued, "You have been a real blessing to me.
