SO3 - LEARNING OBJECTIVES
What you want to learn in this Twitter tutorial?
You will Learn about ….
Settings and how to properly set-up your Twitter account
How to find friends properly?
You will learn about Twitter directories. “which are sort of like phonebooks” to help you find followers outside of your friends
Post tweets - using @symbol
You will learn the basics of Tweeting and using the “AT” symbol = @
You will learn how to respond to Tweets or how to pass on information, which is called Retweeting
You will also learn how to Join a conversation using #hashtags or as some people like to call the “pound signs”
And the last thing that is really important, you will learn how to create create list
SO4 - LOGGING INTO ACCOUNT
In order to log into your Twitter account, we first have to go to Www.Twitter.com if you have an account already established please enter your user name and your password and then click “sign in” if you do not have a Twitter account please click create account. It's always best to jot down your username and password somewhere safe so that you can easily retrieve it in the event your computer doesn't save your information.
SO7 – TWEETING AND RETWEETING
Now let's get started tweeting and retweeting. As you can notice when you are tweeting you have to use the “AT” symbol=@ because the AT” symbol=@ implies that you are speaking to someone. Within your tweet of 140 characters you can include things like polls, website links, videos, and/or photos. Once you post a tweet it will appear on your timeline on your back office page and on your profile page. Your followers can see your tweets and they could choose to respond or forward the information on by retweeting. If you're using Twitter for business, it's very good to include people in your tweets and ask them to retweet. Retweeting is passing information and the good thing about retweeting is for example, if you have five loyal followers and you ask them to retweet and they have potentially 200 followers that are loyal you could potentially get your word out about your business or your cause to at least 1000 people within minutes. This is the beauty of having people retweet two individuals who may be interested in your business. Twitter is all about building relationships whether it’s about business or friendships.
SO8 – USING #HASHTAGS
Now we’re going to get into using #hashtags. It is very important that if you want to follow or join a global conversation to include a #hashtag or “pound sign” as some people may say. To find a conversation to follow you will go up to the search box which is located in the upper right hand corner of the screen, enter your #hashtag for example we’re going to use #SuperSoulSessions and then we’ll click search. A timeline of tweets with the same #hashtag Will Appear and you can see the conversation going on globally. At this point you can choose to either respond, or join the conversation, retweet or just surf and read.
SO9 – CREATING LISTS
Now we’re going to get into creating lists. Once you have set up your account you have you found people to follow and you are experimenting with the directories and getting very comfortable with Twitter everything can start to get overwhelming. That's when we need to start organizing and how we do this on Twitter is by creating lists. Creating list is very simple. All you have to do is go to your followers list, find the person that you’re following, right click on their name, a bar will appear and just scroll down to add or remove them from a list. if you do not have a list that you would like this particular person to go in, you continue scrolling down and hit create a list, which is the last option. Each time you follow a person or someone follows you and you want to keep up with this person you can simply add them to your list. Then you can simply go back to read the tweets of that group or post a tweet to that group.
