Masthead
The magazine company NME always places
their the masthead in the top left so that it
is the first thing you see. The font always
tents to be in red colours and is very bold,
and powerful colour which makes the
masthead stand out more than dull
coloured masthead. The connotations of
red are anger which may be why it is used
in this magazine because it reflects the
music which this magazine explores.
Sell line
NME are known to get exclusive interviews with
artists or bands often up and coming artists and
bands but also ones which other magazines
haven’t been able to get interviews with. This
makes the magazine more appealing to readers.

The main image takes up the majority of the
page and the text is situated in front of the
image and so this makes you focus on the

The pull line in NME is usually related
to the main image and is what is
meant to incise you into reading the
magazine the most out of all of the
sell lines.

Dean, this makes him look retro and indie as

contents page is represented as quite
passionate, due to the intense facial
expressions whilst they are
performing.
The images here are both medium
long shorts, this helps the reader get
a sense of the artists style.
This page fits in with the 3 colour
palate rule as the creamy white
coloured background compliments the
bright red and the black.
The language used on this page is
very colloquial as there are a lot of
abbreviated words which suggest that
this magazine is laidback. It also
suggests that the demographic of this
magazine is younger which is why
they have used informal language.
The costume of the people in these images could
be seen as quite indie due to the unusual style
choices and the earthy colours.
The artists intense facial expressions reinforce
that the indie scene is not so much about the
artists but how well they perform.

covers whole page this could so that it is
easier for the reader to empathise with the

artists body language is very regretful which
makes the reader want to find out more.

broken up which could be set up like this to
help the reader emphasise with the visuals of

signify that the dark time in this persons
life.
in this article they have used a strong pull
quote which is followed by an ellipsis.
this makes the reader want to read the
following article. the choice of words are
very good as the word "it" makes you
want to find out what "it" is.
