INT. KARL’S ROOM - DAY
Karl is in his generic teenage boy’s bedroom. He is asleep,
dreaming about being on a date with Sarah (quite literally
the girl of his dreams).
KARL, A TYPICAL CLUMSY, SLIGHTLY
SOCIALLY-AWKWARD TEENAGE BOY WITH
A HUMOROUS DRESS SENSE.
DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. THE SWINGS – DAY
Karl and Sarah (Karl’s crush) are sat on the swings, gently
swaying rather than swinging, having a ‘romantic’ date. All
appears to be going smoothly.
SARAH
I love you Karl...I want to marry you.
KARL
(Surprised by Sarah’s forward
request)Yeah, so do I.
SARAH
(With a confused facial expression)I’m
sorry…what?
KARL
I love you too Sarah
Sarah leans towards Karl for a kiss. As Karl goes to kiss
Sarah he falls of the swing.
Dissolve to:
INT. BACK IN KARL’S ROOM – DAY
Karl falls out of his bed, which wakes him up.

KARL
(Moans then whispers to himself) Not
again!
He looks at the time and realizes that he is running late
for school, initiates a panicked morning ritual.
RUNNING AROUND THE HOUSE - DAY
KARL
(Singing a song while in the shower)
Karl frantically runs down the stairs to get breakfast.
MUM
(Washing up last night’s dishes)Good
morning Honey Pickle.
KARL
(Embarrassed, lets out a big sigh) MUM! I
hate it when you call me that, I’m not 5
anymore!
MUM
(Carries on washing up, smiles to herself)
Karl leaves the table and heads for the door as he slings
his bag onto his back in a 1-strap fashion.
MUM
Good bye Honey Pickle, have a great day at
school!
Karl slams the front door shut. Upon realizing he has
forgotten to put his shoes on he quickly grabs them from
inside and slams the door again. As the door slams for the
last time the title ‘KARL’ will appear.
