2. Hayao Miyazaki is a Japanese director, screen write, author and manga artist but most notably he is an animator and co founder of
the company studio Ghibli. Hayao Miyazaki was born on the 5th January 1941 in Bunkyo ward of Tokyo he grew up at the end of world
war two and japan post war.
As a child he showed an interest in manga and Japanese comics which sparked his creativity making him want to draw his own
characters when Hayao was in his late teens he saw Hakujaden (tale of the white serpent) which was the first colour anime this
was what got Miyazaki interested in animation.
Hayao Miyazaki went to Gakushuin University he wen to this university to learn political science and economics with a plan to help
reform japans economy after the war Hayao Miyazaki was still interested in in drawing but he had to be practical about his choices
and didn’t think he could make a career out of drawing he eventually graduated with a degree in political science.
In 1963 he joined Toei Animation this is were he learnt to animate and worked on many animes like Doggie march and wolf boy ken.
He later became chief animator and concept designer and scene designer for the film the great adventure of ,Horus prince of the
sun.
In 1985, Miyazaki, Takahata, Tokuma and Suzuki founded the animation production company studio Ghibli which the
companies first project was castle in the sky which when it was released in 1986 it was the highest grossing film in japan.
Miyazaki’s second film at studio Ghibli was my neighbour Totoro which didn’t do as well at the box office but is still seen
as on of his best works.
Later Miyazaki realised on e of his biggest films Princess Mononoke which did very well at the box office and received an
Japan academy prize for picture of the year and had great success over seas Miyazaki said this would be his last film. But
is September in 2001 studio Ghibli announced that they would be creating howls moving castle this film inspired Miyazaki
and it did very well at the box office both in japan and over seas he later did two smaller films in 2013 but them were his
last.
