Schools Like Crispus Attacks Are Not More Disadvantaged?
In the United States, there has been a long debate over whether or not students without means are
more disadvantaged in life than those that do have the means. This has historically been a very
conflicting topic when it comes to the data that has been gathered. This is because of a variety of
different factors that have been studied to try and explain the phenomenon. After volunteering with
the pantry and the distribution center, I feel that there is something to be said when coming from a
place of means.
When comparing the different schools here in Indianapolis it can be seen that schools like Crispus
Attacks are typically African American while schools like Avon or Carmel are predominantly
Caucasian. Now looking at the neighborhoods, Where Avon and Carmel are located are some of the
most affluent neighborhoods in the city as well as some of the safest in the state. Some of the studies
as discussed in the education section of "You May Ask Yourself" state that it is not necessarily the
schools themselves, but other factors that influence them. This can be seen in the examples of
Carmel and Crispus Attucks. The kids at Carmel typically come from families that have more means
than those at Crispus Attucks. This allows them to have more access to summer programs that allow
them to retain their knowledge and even get more ahead in preparation for the next year. However,
people at Crispus Attucks may not have the means to go to such programs in the summer and may
fall behind.

revolution were not interested in black freedom, so the British offer literally produced a flood of

Massacre. I believe the reason for this was because it is such a large event in history that is spoke
about all of the time and I remember hearing about it in school, but I could not remember any of the

Revolution and at the time of the war, many slaves actively participated in battles and revolts on
either the side of the colonists or the British. Nonetheless, the insatiable need to be remembered for
their bravery and potentially be released from their condition as a slave motivated slaves to fight
during the revolution. Before getting into the roles of slave men in the British and American army,
the context of the slaves' lives and how people's opinions changed towards African slaves must be

During the mid 1600's, slave laws were passed to officiate slavery as an economic custom and to
further promote the ideal of slave labor. A slave by the 1700's is an African American who works for
the entirety of his or her life without pay that endures inflicted pain by his or her masters and
furthermore is a title that is inherited through generation. To get to point, slaves began to grow
weary of their conditions thus leading them to run off and escape their plantations in hopes of

In the year 1770, tensions between Great Britain and the colonists reached an all–time high. As a
result of more aggressive policies imposed by that of the British parliament, violent opposition grew
immensely and in one case, a historical and very bloody conflict now commonly known as the
Boston Massacre, took place. This event came about as a result of the invasion of a Boston ship
named Liberty, causing Bostonians to riot and push the customs officials out of towns. Statistically,
by the end of 1769, nearly 4,000 troops resided within an area with a population of nearly 15,000.
Although the rebellion and revolts seemed to grow rather quickly, a series of events simply built up
in such a way which makes the Massacre considerably 'a wimpy way to rebel.' First, nearly 5 years
before this gruesome killing, Great Britain enforced the Townshend Act upon the colonists, forcing
the payment and collection of taxes. Consequently, no person wanted to pay this imposed charge to
a country which simply causes conflict. Instead, people began to revolt, rebel, and riot against these
demands. In return, Great Britain passed the Quartering Act to suffice for the shelter of troops whom
of which were placed in towns to act as a means of structure regarding control over the people.
Beginning in 1765, the colonists were expected to provide shelter and food for soldiers at their own

After analyzing the video about the Boston Massacre, what it should be called depends all on which
side you took. Patriots would have took this as a massacre because, not only would it blame the
British, but their people were also considered "slaughtered". Thus, to the Patriots, this would be
considered a massacre. However, for the Loyalists and British, this would be considered a riot. A
crowd of colonists threw snowballs, stones, oyster shells, and even wood at British soldiers. This
was basically a disturbance of peace, or a riot. The soldiers had the right of defending themselves, so

American, but Paul Revere shows innocence to the crowd of colonists. It was said that colonists had
started by throwing snowballs, but snow is also not located anywhere on the painting. The saying
that the Boston Massacre must've started after nine o'clock in the evening may be a false statement

To please the crowds Governor Hutchinson arrested the soldiers and promised the people that there
would be a trial. John Adams and Josiah Quincy took the defense of the soldiers and Preston. The
soldiers went to trial in September and they and captain Preston pleaded innocent. The eight men
and Preston were tried separately and only two were found guilty. The others were acquitted while
the two found guilty were branded on the hand and released, an easy penalty for murder. Preston

tyrant known as King George III of Great Britain. Although King George did not initialize the
colonization of America, he had a drastic effect on its history and what makes modern America what

stimulus surrounding the Colonists that could and would trigger such an event. Some of this
