Kwame Kilpatrick was elected Mayor of Detroit at the age of 31 which made him the youngest person holding the position in the history of the city.
Kwame was a charismatic, intelligent, savvy and ambitious young man with great potential and future ahead of him. During the inauguration

The biggest factor in the settlement was the evidence against Kilpatrick and his former Chieft of Staff, Chistine Beatty, obtained by the officer's lawyer,
Mike Stefani. He subpoena the phone and text messaging records from Skytel. The messages detailed their sexual relationship, indicated of Mayor

It is definitely no secret that jobs have left the city of Detroit, which of course would be one of the more obvious reasons as to why the people left.

I also believe that these are not the only reasons for Detroit's problems. Detroit has been through so much over the years and has never truly had a

From low test scores to high schools dropouts, Detroit is known as the least educated city in the nation. This can lead to a variety of issues,
including a rise in criminal activity and the inability for residents to make a positive impact on their city. In 2009, an article was published by Taham

billion in crippling debt. The plan will divide the schools into an old district–– a legal entity which will pay down debt over time–– and a new
debt–free district known as the Detroit Public School Community District, which will be given $150 million startup loan from the state." This plan is
expected to turn out for the better, by getting rid of the name and bankruptcy of the previous school system and replacing it with this more improved

Mexico, Wyoming, Nevada, and South Dakota. The group's biggest heist was that of the new Union Pacific Train which took place on June 1899 in

independence continues to be a universal concept. For the country of Ghana, independence became a necessity, and this type of freedom could only be
obtained through a process called decolonization. Decolonization is when a country removes itself from a location it has colonized, leaving that
location independent to govern over itself. The nature of this can be problematic, due to the extensive difficulties of creating a functional country with

In the novel, Things Fall Apart, power and dignity are very critical aspects of the main character, Okonkwo. These traits, however, were brought up in
Okonkwo in the wrong way. Okonkwo suppresses his emotions under a violent image of power and pride. His traits can be demonstrated through the
events happening in his life, which include his upbringing of putting hard work and dedication as his first priorities. He acquires a large amount of
wealth that he puts towards his family, and expects his children to strive towards the same goal. This expectation represents Okonkwo's defiance of
embracing any ideologies that aren't his own. In the novel, Cosmopolitanism, the concept represented is to engage readers to understand the similarities

Our society today has in a metaphorical sense shrunk compared to our nomad ancestors. To further prove this point, we have so many resources
available today that allow us to network and discover other cultures. This in turn makes all parts of the world seem a lot smaller because our worlds are

In early 2014 Detroit became the largest U.S city to ever declare bankruptcy. The City's current poverty rate is horrendous. It has thousands of vacant or
abandoned homes, and communities without the expected municipal services. Detroit even shut off the water to thousands of customers who were late
or haven't on their water bill. Detroit also has the highest murder and violent crime rate of any major city in the country. FBI statistics shows that
Detroit logged in 316 murders and non–negligent manslaughter last year, with a rate of 45 per 100,000 people. That's the highest of U.S. cities with
more than 200,000 residents and 10 times with national rates. The City also has 14,500 total violent crimes since 2013, and the stats are still going up.
The poverty and crime rate in Detroit is destroying families, at the same rebuilding new ones.
Most of Detroit families can't afford their basic needs because of unemployment. According to the Huffington Post "two– thirds of Detroiters can't
afford basic needs like housing, health care and food even when a family member is employed." According to the Huffington Post studies found out
that "40 percent of Michigan households, and 67 percent of Detroit families, are either under the poverty line or what it identifies as "ALICE" ––
asset–limited, income–constrained, employed." Majority of the people who live in Michigan who aren't technically poor fits the Alice definition.

Throughout the chapter "Moral Disagreement" in his work Cosmopolitanism, Kwame
Anthony Appiah analyzes the issues of morality. Appiah essentially presents his argument in a manner which questions the concept of what is ethically
right and wrong. Furthermore, he believes that societies and individuals will inevitably experience moral disagreements. From the author's perspective,
"If we are to encourage...moral conversations between people across societies, we must expect such disagreements."1 As demonstrated in the reading,
Appiah suggests that on a global scale, unique societies fail to share the same evaluative language when discussing moral issues. However, even when
different communities share similar terms, the subjective nature of vocabulary allows for contrasting interpretations. Finally, Appiah illustrates that
various cultural groups place different weights on the same values.
The vocabulary used in numerous parts of the world is quite diverse and multifaceted.
Kwame Anthony Appiaheffectively distinguishes the terms "thin" and "thick" as words applied to describe moral disagreement within the text. The
author admits that individuals from differing societies share "thin" words, yet the lack of depth from this vocabulary results in an insignificant

Just like Ghandhi said, "an eye for an eye makes the whole world blind." There are plenty of times, when we accidently may judge someone we
don't know. For instance, when first going to a new class full of people, or even a job interview. Isn't it crazy how one small conversation with
someone you don't know can change your total perspective on them? Personally, it happened to me so many times and the people I thought were
"weird" turned out to be one of the coolest people I know. Let's stop "judging a book by it's cover" and actually read it and interpret it's true meaning.

a member of the University center for Human Values. Appiah believes that conversation can help end separation and boundaries people have around
the world. Conversation can allow for cultural exchange, acceptance and resolve differences. After reading "Making Conversation" and the "Primacy
of Practice" I believe conversation works as a positive model for resolving and managing world problems to a certain extent, depending on the
individual/people you are talking to. Overall, some people you will try to converse with may be hard–headed and so stuck on their views and others
will be willing to compromise. Either way, conversation opens doors to new thoughts, perspectives, and voices to unheard views.

Firstly, Nkrumah had much difficulty securing the funds to build the Volta Dam. Originally the British, who were still in control of Ghana at the time,

When I first began college, I knew that I wanted to major in civil engineering; However, knowing that my major would take up all of my units after

The "Golden Rule" is an ethical idea shared in various religious texts and different ancient philosophers' statements around the world, and it was
paraphrased as "What you do not wish done to yourself, do not do to others". Kwame Anthony Appiah argues in the fifth Chapter (Moral
Disagreement) of his book Cosmopolitanism that "the Golden Rule is not as helpful as it might at first seem", and he gives several examples to
support his argument. However, I don't think these examples are solid enough to overthrow the Golden Rule. Because we can only discuss the pros
and cons of the Golden Rule after we share this idea. Besides, I have a different view toward the Golden Rule than Appiah. I prefer to believe it is a

for the nation. Kwame Nkrumah led United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC) to gain support and achieve independence for Ghana in 1957. After a
