Simple by using the base form of the verb”.
Now, look at the part in red. What is this colour highlighting?”
I will tell them “For the third person singular (he, she and it), we add -s or
-es depending on the ending of the verb. There are some spelling rules you

Present Simple.
We use Present Simple to talk about habitual actions in the present.
The Present Simple tense is formed using:
Remember!!
I dance on the streets.
HE – SHE - IT dances on the streets.
YOU – WE - THEY dance on the streets.
12. Práctica Docente III
2020
Notice!!
For the third person singular (he, she and it), we use -s or -es depending on the ending of
the verb.
• We generally add “-S” to the base form of verbs.
For example: “BUY”
Jimin, from BTS, buys presents for his family and friends on Chuseok.
• If verbs end in -ch, -s, -sh, - o -x, or -z, we add “-ES”.
For example: “WATCH”
Lady Gaga watches horror films on Halloween.
13. Práctica Docente III
2020
• If verbs end in a consonant + y , we remove “y” and add “-IES”.
For example: “TRY”
Lady Gaga always tries to dress up in Halloween costumes.
14. Práctica Docente III
2020
Pay attention!!!
TIME EXPRESSIONS WITH PRESENT SIMPLE.

OFTEN. We generally use them to talk about habitual actions in the present.

ACTIVITY 2: WRITING AND SPEAKING
I will invite students to watch the following tutorial video:
https://www.loom.com/share/bc4eb94d5f9c4fca82e63b25b1b5c4d6
I will ask students to work in pairs. Then, I will ask them to choose one celebrity from any
country they like. I will ask them to create an interview with questions and answers using
Present Simple. After that, I will ask students to record this interview saying the questions
and answers created using the online recorder: https://vocaroo.com/ . I will ask them to

find a photo of the celebrity selected. Finally, I will ask them to upload the written interview,
the photo and their recording to the padlet.
I will ask students to use some of the following structures in order to create the interview.
These are the structures I will give them:
1- What do you celebrate in your country?
I ……………………………………………………
2- Do you eat typical food in this tradition?
……………………………………………………
3- What do you eat in this tradition?
I……………………………………………………...
4- Do you dance in this tradition?
……………………………………………………
5- What do you dance in this tradition?
I……………………………………………………
I will mention that they can find a model on the platform.

Scaffolding strategies:
- Provide students with visual aids to promote their understanding;
- Provide students with a tutorial video to explain how to do activity 3;
- Provide students with examples to promote their understanding;
- Provide students with the necessary help through forums.
In order to cater for possible SpLD students, I have planned the following
in case I have students with DYSLEXIA.

I believe that a good way of fostering diversity and inclusion could be to apply different
techniques that are very useful for any kind of special needs. In order to teach the new
structure and new vocabulary to students with dyslexia, I will use multi-sensory methods
by using the auditory and visual learning styles in order to promote learners´
understanding.. It is important to mention the fact that it will not only benefit students with
special needs but also all the students in the class.
I will implement Multisensory techniques by using the color- coding of words or phrases. I
will teach the Present Simple tense by saying that words in light-blue are the base form of
verbs, the parts in red are – s or -es we add to verbs for the third person singular, words
in grey are time expressions, words highlighted in orange are the auxiliaries do/does in
their negative forms and finally, words highlighted in pink are do/does in their interrogative
and affirmative forms. For example:
Children always dress up in Halloween costumes.
Maluma usually wears a mask and dances, too.
Lady Gaga often watches horror films on Halloween.
Bad Bunny doesn´t dance tango in the Pineapple Festival.
Puerto Rican people don´t eat pasta.
Do BTS eat ceviche on Chuseok?
No, they don´t.
Do BTS eat rice cake on Chuseok?
Yes, they do.
Does Lady Gaga celebrate Carnival in the USA?
No, she doesn´t.
Does Lady Gaga celebrate Halloween in the USA?

Observations Wonderful job, Mariela!
You´ve followed a clear thread, which comes from unit 1. There are lots of
meaningful examples and interesting activities for them to assimilate the target
structures. Congrats!

Greeting the students with such a colourful sign is a lovely detail. It´s a simple but
valuable gesture. ☺
You designed attractive presentations to guide your speech and provide visual
support. The examples are contextualized. You highlight important parts in different
colours. Great!
