North Korea Economy
North Korea (officially named the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, or DPRK) is a single–party Communist state in south–east Asia, ruled
since 1949 by the Korean Workers' Party (KWP). Regarded by many in the international community as a pariah state (meaning that it is an outcast),
North Korea has in recent years become increasingly poverty–stricken, with many of its citizens having barely enough food to survive.
The KWP is kept in power largely thanks to a combination of international concern for North Korean citizens and the patronage of the Chinese
government, which exports large quantities of food to North Korea in return for KWP assistance in certain areas. Until the 1990's, North Korea also
received significant quantities of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This has to be taken in the context of the considerable global recession that has been in play since 2008, the results from which North Korea was
largely shielded due to its insularity. In general terms, the North Korean economy is still far poorer than most other Asian nations.
Given the poor state of the nation's economy, North Korea's government has to rely upon the cult of personality in order to keep the population in
check. Most art in the country venerates, either directly or indirectly, the 'great leader' Kim il–Sung or his successor, the current North Korean leader
Kim Jong–il. Among the population, there is a strong level of belief in such apparent absurdities as the idea that Kim il–Sung created the entire world,
or that Kim Jong–il controls the weather (Martin, 2004).
State media sources are tightly controlled so as to prevent the North Korean public from accessing any information that does not come from the
country's strict government bureau of information, and this means that many North Koreans are grossly misinformed about the position of North
Korea in the world and believe, for example, that their meagre lifestyles are preferable to the terrible conditions in other countries. Visitors to North
Korea routinely report tight levels of control, with mobile phones confiscated for the duration of the visit and all movement tracked by an official
government–supplied 'tourist guide'.
North Korea is widely regarded as one of the most insular

Research Paper On North Korean Nuclear Crisis
The Nuclear Crisis of 1993
The question of a nuclear North Korea has roots dating back to the 1980's. Initial concerns arose in the mid–1980's, with intelligence reports proposing
the potential for North Korean nuclear ambitions. Reports cite the construction of a nuclear reactor capable of producing weapons–grade plutonium .
The reactor in question, located in Yongbyon, was the focus of the first North Koreannuclear crisis in 1993. The Clinton administration proceeded with
diplomatic efforts, forging an agreement by 1994 that effectually ended the crisis. Under the Agreed Framework, North Korea agreed to: (1) halt
operation and construction of nuclear reactors, (2) freeze reprocessing of spent fuel (from which plutonium can be ... Show more content on

North Korea?s Cause for Concern
The crisis has been largely framed as a bilateral dispute between the United States and North Korea. North Korea has repeatedly defended their nuclear
weapons program, by claiming the need for ?nuclear deterrence? is a result of the United State?s ?hostile policy.? Pyongyang?s cause for concern can
be seen upon consideration of the noticeable shift in US policy that took place when the Bush Administration took office.
In reaction to the North Korea–Japan controversy in August 1998, when North Korea test–fired a missile over the main island of Japan, President
Clinton sent Former Secretary of Defense, William Perry, to Pyongyang to deliver a US disarmament proposal. By September 1999, North Korea had
agreed to stop conducting long–range missile tests, and, in turn, President Clinton eased economic sanctions on the country. The situation is used as an
example of the Clinton administration?s approach to dealing with North Korea ?a willingness to engage in dialogue that was presumably perceived by
North Korea as a necessary step towards normalizing relations with the United States.
The Bush Administration sought to make their policy towards North Korea clear, even before taking office, as the foreign policy team ?blasted the
Clinton Administration for being soft on Pyongyang ? during the presidential campaign. North Korea?s disapproval of the new hard–line

North Korea Threatens War Over Nuclear Ambitions
Tim Middendorf Professor Stephens 4–24–2017 Causal Analysis Essay North Korea Threatens War over Nuclear Ambitions Amid Growing tensions
between the Unites States and North Korea over the North's ambition to have and control nuclear weapons with the capability of reaching the
continental United States. The world watches and waits for the start of what may be the next world war. As the Unites States searches for a
diplomatic solution with the help of its allies in the area, the U.S. military stands ready to win any conflict that may arise from the situation in North

states that " China has great influence over North Korea and they will either help the United States or they wont. If they do then it will be good for
China and if not then it wont be good for anyone. If china wont deal with them then we will" (Taylor, 2017.). The U.S. president has made it clear that
he intends to be vigilant with the current tension with the North. In doing so President Trump has sent three aircraft carrier groups to the region as a

Orwell And 1984
In our world, everything we do is monitored. Nothing we do goes unseen. Our world demonstrates the idea of an Orwellian society. The book 1984
by George Orwell shows a society that is a perfect example for this idea. The Stanford experiment, the documentary 10 Days in North Korea, and the
Milgram experiment each represent a great example of an Orwellian society.
Let me go a little more into detail on the Stanford Experiment. This was an experiment that was conducted in 1973. A professor (Philip Zimbardo) at
Stanford University wanted to study the behavior between prisoners and guards. In this study, a group of 75 people volunteered to be locked in a
prison setting for 2 weeks. 24 of the 75 were chosen randomly. They were paid 15 dollars... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a documentary set place in North Korea to study the lifestyle of Koreans for 10 days. In the documentary, they visit schools, hospitals, and
other workplaces to interview workers. In these interviews, they ask how they like the style of government. Every response that is given is positive.
Their government is so controlling that if they were to say one bad thing about it, then it would backfire on them. North Koreans are pretty much
brainwashed into thinking that there is no better place to live. Their lives are controlled so much that the government even controls the smallest part
of their lives. In the book, Oceania is much like North Korea. Sometimes people betray the party and are never seen again. "More commonly, people
who had incurred the displeasure of the Party simply disappeared and were never heard of again." (Orwell 44–45). Big Brother is just like Kim
Jong–Un. Big Brother has given everyone a house, job, and money to live off of. In return for this favor, the people are expected to worship and obey
Big Brothers commands. North Koreans are also provided with these essentials by Kim Jong– Un. Winston is not allowed to even think that he doesn't
like Big Brother. His thoughts and actions are controlled. This is the same for citizens of North

The Democratic People's Republic Of Korea (DPRK)
I have chosen the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) because it continues to pose a national security risk to the United States of America
through its armament of nuclear weapons. The United States and DPRK have maintained a tense and unstable relationship due to opposing ideologies:
federal republic vs communist dictatorship. Roots going back to the Cold War era can explain current tensions between these nations. Presently, the
DPRK adamantly refuses to disarm its nuclear weapons, and therefore, has created tense relationships between itself and other great powers in the
world. How have the different administrations responded in regards to North Korean relations? For the past two decades, each administration has

The Clinton Administration attempted to restore diplomatic relations with North Korea through agreements and talks which were ultimately
disregarded. The Bush Administration pushed for economic sanctions against the North Koreans which escalated conflicts and stopped progress. The
Obama Administration, while making little progress, was the most successful because it pursued the policy of strategic patience and limited the
amount of spending. The Obama Administration was given little chance in forging peace with North Korea because the North Koreans consistently
defied Resolutions and provoked the United States as well as the UNSC into sanctions. Today, the United States has placed retaliatory sanctions on
North Korea because it suspects the Koreans hacked Sony Pictures Entertainment over an Anti–Korean movie. Under the new regime, North Korea has
isolated itself from the world and made a possible enemy of the United States which causes some to speculate it may be added back to the list of

Gaining Power : What Makes One Successful Or Not?
Gaining power is something that our species has evolved to strive for. Throughout history man has always tried to gain power in some way, but
gaining power is not an easy task and while gaining power is something that is core to all of human desire it is reached in different ways. Some
gain power through war, economics, politics, and some power is inherited, but regardless of how power is gained, all power has to be maintained
and how it is maintained is the real argument because the ways of gaining power that we explore have already happened and were successful in
giving power to people but the ways the power is maintained is what makes one successful or not.

Much of the country's success can be attributed to Lee. The reason he was able to do such great things because he was true to how he gained his
power, which he got by being liked among his people and sharing their beliefs. He never took his power for granted and he would remind his
co–workers that as well and by doing this he created a government that even today, after he has left the office, still spends large portions of their budget
on social programs that help the lower and middle class citizens.
Another example of power gained politically is the Kim family's control over North Korea. Kim Il–Sung's introduction to power was similar to Lee
Kuan Yew and the way they maintained their power wasn't as different as you may think. Il–Sung used his
Anderson 3 power to turn Korea into an extremely communist nation, which in theory should help the nation's people by having a large number of
agricultural and industrial workers.
However, due to poor soil and lots of floods, farming is a hard job to do in North Korea and because of this fact, many of the nation's people live in
poverty because of the focus on having a lot of agricultural workers, but the Kim family continues to maintain their power but Kim Jong Un maintains
his power differently than his grandfather and that is why he is able to keep his power.
It might seem strange that

Myths Are A Critical Tool
The word "myth" typically brings to mind dusty, ancient volumes of Greek and Roman fables– stories of angry gods and supernatural creatures. But
myths encompass a much wider category. In fact, myths are a critical tool for leaders and politicians in uniting their nations. Myths are narratives used
to make sense of current or historical events and they can be manipulated for both good and bad. This essay considers the way in which myths are used
in nation–building and war by examining several prominent examples.
The Merriam–Webster dictionary provides several definitions for the word "myth." One is that which is most often used by popular culture: "an idea
or story that is believed by many people but that is not true." Another, and the one with which this essay concerns itself, is: "a usually traditional story
of ostensibly historical events that serves to unfold part of the world view of a people or explain a practice, belief, or natural phenomenon." In reality,
it matters not whether the myth is fact or fiction. In the first place, historiography is always an interpretation of the past according to the present, and
thus can never be purely "objective." Second, the validity of the facts is of little importance insofar as the myth accomplishes its intended purpose.
For instance, consider a modern nation that is completely surrounded in myth– North Korea. The official story of its former leader's birth claims that
when Kim Jong–Il was born, a new star appeared in the sky, a

The United States has a complex government that builds on democracy whereas North Korea has communism centered on totalitarian rule. Both had
their conflicts during the past and still are struggling in the future. Even though their government has two different sides to tell about they too have
some similarities. One country having majority rule and the other having "political authority [whom] exercises absolute and centralized control over all

is the Supreme Court with nine justices who are appointed by the President and are confirmed by the Senate. The Supreme Court decides how the

government has a Central Court where the Supreme People's Assembly elects the judges. Both may have the same branches of government, their

democrats are for political or social equality for all people whereas the republics are for moral values and abide by the Constitution from our fathers.
The Democratic and Republican parties are the two most popular political parties that battle out during election year for the title of leading our
country for four years or able to serve more years if is reelected. The libertarian party is committed to "America's heritage of freedom" where they are
for free–market economy, peace, and individual liberty and personal responsibility. The Green party is committed to environmentalism, non–violence,
and social justice. They campaign and try to renew "democracy without support of corporate donors." In North Korea,

China 's Influence On The Reunification Of The Korean...
Has China's role been primarily positive or negative in the reunification of the Korean Peninsula? In recent years, Asia has drawn plenty of attentions
from the world, not only because of the rising great power China but also the increasingly unpredictable and unsettled North Korea. Based on the past
history of German reunification in 1990 and enthusiasm for the reunification among citizens in both South Korea and North Korea, it seems to be a
consensus in the world that the Korean Peninsula will eventually reunified. The remaining questions are when and how will the reunification take
place. With the potential regional hegemon China continues to grow and the United States has set its pivot in Asia to restrain China's rising, there is no
doubt that the reunification will greatly change the power distribution in Asia. As the only country that has meaningful relationships with both South
Korea and North Korea, China is commonly viewed as the main facilitator in the reunification. As a result, China's attitudes and policies towards both
countries are crucial to this issue. China has always been openly support the reunification of Korean Peninsula. However, on the other side, China
continues to support Kim family's authoritarian regime and prevents the regime from falling apart. Although North Korea has become increasingly
outrageous by ignoring China's advices and drags China into unnecessary international conflicts, there is no clear sign that China is going to abandon its

The Function Of A Hero
Introduction What is a hero? Well a hero is people like Thor and Wonder Woman, actually no they are heroes but let's think about people in general.
Well what a hero really is, a hero is someone who is helping, willing and self sacrificing. A hero does what they can to fix a problem 1st or 3rd world
problems they are willing to fix the problems that are beneficial. Now a hero also has to be cognitive because heroes have to make decisions every
single day that also could lead to life or death situations. People who might be considered as a hero under this criteria could be teachers, specific
people like Abraham Lincoln, Harriet Tubman, and Malala Yousafzai, but definitely not people like Kim Jong Un & loan sharks. Basically to sum up a
hero is really in general is just a helpful, willing, self sacrificial, and a smart person who teaches.
Function
Teachers are regular people taken for granted yet the society doesn't know that teachers are important and without them would mean the world being
without knowledge. First of all teachers are heroes to me because teachers consistently stay up to grade and help us. Thus teachers are heroes like all
heroes–they sacrifice their day because of this to teach, inspire, and mold children so they can be better than the current generation. It is not about
them–it is about others. In addition teachers also care for each other by providing to be a substitute for other sick teachers by sacrificing their planning
period. Furthermore this shows

North Kore A Threat Of World Security Essay
North Korea is a nation where their once family and ally, South Korea, has become their biggest enemyies. North Korea has taken extensive measures
to make sure they are included in some of the most powerful nations of the modern century. They have done this using the power of nuclear weapons
and other weapons of mass destruction. They have been claimed as a physical and no longer theoretical threat to its surrounding nations. North Korea
has become a threat of world security and, we should raise arms against North Korea and make them join the NATO in their quest for world peace
and a civilized world, To raise arms against North Korea we would cut off their supplies which would end the war very quickly and with very little
cost., The result of North Korea surrendering would show the power of the NATO., After the war against North Korea, China would take over the
small country and would use it as a NATO military outpost. (what is supposed to happen in theory).
Leadership in North Korea
The three dictatorial leaders of North Korea have been Kim II–Sung, Kim Jong Iil, and& Kim Jong un. Kim Jong il was the leader during WWII and
the kKorean war. He died in 2011, which gave his son Kim Jong– un direct leadership to the throne. Kim Jong un has made life in North Korea easier
for all of his citizens by providing jobs for those who need them most. He has started to gradually give North Koreans more and more resources to
improve their life. Kim Jong un is much better than his father

North Korea's Kim Jong-Un : A Perfect Prince
Kim Jong–Un: A Perfect Prince Throughout all of history, there has been a countless number of leaders who fit the description of Machiavelli's
"Perfect Prince". One of the many world leaders that fits the description is North Korea's Kim Jong–Un. Kim is a cunning, sneaky, powerful dictator
that is world renowned. He follows Machiavelli's guidelines extremely well, making him a good fit for the role. Kim Jong–Un is a Perfect Prince
because he is feared, has a mix of power and cunning, and makes people think he is cruel. First, Machiavelli states that "...a prince ought to inspire
fear in such a way that, if he does not win love, he avoids hatred." If Kim is hated, people will want to end his rule. Obviously this is not in Kim's
best interest, so he must be feared or loved rather than hated. But people have an easier time betraying someone who is loved, because they do not
fear the consequences that would happen post betrayal. Machiavelli says "...but fear preserves you by a dread of punishment which never fails."
Therefore it is best to be feared rather than loved, although if one is feared, he must not be hated. One reason Kim Jong–Un is feared is because
recently, he had his half brother assassinated. He did this to show his people that if anyone, even family members, may stand in his way he will have
them eliminated. At the Kuala Lumpur airport in Malaysia, Kim Jong–Nam (Kim Jong–Un's half brother) was poisoned by assassins. Another reason
Kim Jong–Un is feared is

Power Bases
Coercive Power: Kim Jong–Il
A coercive leader leads through fear and intimidation. The key fundamental in this leadership style is making your followers aware that their failure
will ultimately cause some form of punishment. This can take many forms and has been demonstrated on many scales through history. Your boss at
work that punishes you with extra work should you fail to succeed at a task is one example. I believe the most coercive leader in our world today is Kim
Jong–Il. Kim Jong–Il has been the "Supreme Commander" of North Korea since 1997. His leadership style was shaped through a strict military
background. His beliefs in himself are somewhat vain to most, but the people of North Korea will literally ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The population accepts him as a member of their family because of the fear he instilled in past generations. I dare say he went so far with his
coercive style that he no longer even needs to be that way. The people were forced for so long to accept him as their leader and supreme commander
that they no longer have any other thought in their head. He has totally blocked all internet and media transmissions into North Korea. No news gets
in and you can guarantee that very little gets out. Outsiders are not welcome to visit North Korea unless they are escorted by officials of the
Government everywhere they go. While his coercive style may have shaped his rule in North Korea it has in some form shifted into a more Legitimate
Power. While generations past may have feared Kim Jong–Il the population of North Korea today loves him as their leader. Where some societies look
to religion to fill their spiritual needs, North Koreans look to Kim Jong–Il for the same satisfaction. While he may have had no right to rule in the
beginning and his coercive style solidified his position he is certainly showing Legitimate Power in today's world. It will be a terrible loss for the
people of North Korea when they lose Kim, but at the same time it may be the best thing that ever happened to them. While their minds are warped
from years of coercive abuse they now accept that Kim Jong–Il has the right, by virtue of position, to make demands and expect

How Is Kim Jong-Il A Machiavellian Dictator
Kim–Jong–il was the leader of North Korea from 1994–2011. He was a dictator of a country that is widely believed to have the worst human rights in
the world, and this shows in the way he ruled the country with often little regard to the individual person. He is overall a Machiavellian dictator, as
many of the ways in which he lead North Korea are in adherence to Machiavelli's statements, examples of which being how he was presented as
having all good qualities and how he was not afraid of hurting his citizens given that the end results of it would better the nation. However he, on the
most part did not adhere to Machiavelli's statement that a leader should not strive to be loved and instead strive to be feared, but instead tried to be
loved by his people and feared ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The statement said by Machiavelli that Kim Jong–il seems to follow the most is "It is not necessary for a prince to have all good qualities, but it is
necessary to seem to have them. I will even go so far as to say that to actually have these qualities and to be guided by them always is
dangerous...But a prince must always be ready to embrace the opposite qualities if the occasion demands it". This statement means that a prince
should try to make it seem like he possesses every possible quality that would make him a good prince, however it is not important if he actually
has these qualities. In fact, according to Machiavelli actually possessing the qualities that are thought to make a leader good and using these qualities
to lead will cause one to fail as a leader. Machiavelli adds to all this that while a prince should usually attempt to seem as if he is embodying all of the
good qualities princes should have, if a circumstance arises in

Good And Evil In Beowulf
Throughout many forms of literature a common theme that can be seen across books is that no matter how great and evil may be good will always
triumph in the end. A similar case of this can be seen in the Anglo–Saxon Beowulf.
The foul monster Grendel is known for his bloodlust from hunting down those who resided within the Herot; slaughtering them whenever the sun went
down for more than a decade, but even Grendel had something he feared. Even after the Herot was abandoned and desecrated by Grendel there was
one thing he would not defile. In the Herot sat Hrothgar the King of Danes' throne which was protected by God (Beowulf 82–85). Despite being far
stronger than most mortals he feared the possibility of incurring God's wrath if he harms the throne as Gods in many different cultures are defined as
almighty beings that no one or thing can defy. As such, harming the throne would be a sign of aggression against not just Hrothgar but God as well.
The mortal Beowulf came to slay Grendel, but mortals should be weaker than monsters. Beowulf however had mentioned to the warriors at the Herot
that while he was swimming across a frozen sea with no more than a sword he fought many sea creatures. Mentioning that "there at the bottom of the
sea; by morning they'd decided to sleep on the shore, lying on their backs, their blood spilling out" (Beowulf 297–299). Although Beowulf was a
mortal and not close to a God, he is stronger than monster and able to strike fear into them.

Summary Of 1984 By George Orwell's 1984
Throughout history, various countries have been under intense government ruling where the citizens are given little freedom and lack privacy.
During the Soviet Era, Russian citizens experienced an oppressing lifestyle where their paranoid leader, Joseph Stalin, enforced various laws which
limited the liberties of the people. For the people of Oceania in the novel 1984 by George Orwell, Big Brother is their manipulating leader who
controls every aspect of their lives. This novel, written in 1949, was based on the futuristic idea that one day, people of this world would have little to
no freedom because the government would possess too much power. Unfortunately, this strategy of regime has become a reality in some countries
around the world. In the novel 1984 by George Orwell, there are clear connections between the Ministry of Truth and the modern day government in
countries including North and South Korea.
The Ministry of Truth is one branch of the government that deals with propaganda in 1984. The other branches of the government are the Ministry of
Love, the Ministry of Peace, and the Ministry of Plenty. The purpose of the Ministry of Truth is for employers to alter past news articles, books, etc.

Tyrants, Dictators, and Democrats
Kim Jong–il Kim Jong–il was the supreme leader of North Korea from July of 1994 until his untimely death on December 17th, 2011. His reign as
dictator is defined by most as successful but he will go down as one of the most dangerous dictators the world has ever seen. The people of North Korea
looked up to Kim Jong–il as a god–like figure. No one really knows the exact year that Kim Jong–il was born. He was born in either 1941 or 1942 in
Vyatskoye, Soviet Union. His birth name is actually not Kim Jong–il it is Yuri Irsenovich Kim. His father,Kim Il–sung was a commander of the Soviet
88th brigade. Kim Jong–il did not move to Pyongyang, North Korea until 1945 after World War II has ended. Kim Jong–il's rise to power began in
July of 1961 when he joined the Workers' Party, which is the official ruling party of North Korea (Biography). The beliefs of the Workers' Party were
based off of Stalinst Russia before Kim Jong–il and Kim Il–sung expanded on those beliefs. Kim Jong–il eventually was elected as head of the
Workers' Party Central Committee. His main job as head of the committee was to lead a revolt against the revisionists and to keep the beliefs of the
party. This is where Kim first took control of the military as he used them to kill disloyal officers. His main goal was to keep the military on the

My Journey Of My Life
It was in the years of my adulthood, about twelve years from my joining of the Child's Union, and it was on my vacation; my vacation, that was, from
Kim Chaek University of Technology. The windowless transport bus halted and recoiled, alerting me that my destination has been reached, and that I
could depart to the residence of my humble relatives in the village of Sinuiju, which was a municipal city on the very edge of North Korea and China. I
stepped from the ancient vehicle and began the walk towards the village's center. There, I passed copious houses of plastered white structure and
similar brown shingled roofs. Plantations were cultivated in modest amounts despite the frigid weather, and people looked as if they had fed on the
crops. Up an inclination of crude concrete, positioned somewhat like gravel–built stairs, I greeted joyful faces of my aunt and uncle.
"Kim Yeon, my nephew! It has been over fifteen years since we have seen you!" laughed my aunt, grasping my shoulder and hugging me ever so close.
"Haha, yes it has Aunt Yom Hae Young." I replied, reciprocating the gesture with a toothy grin.
"Have you forgotten me Kim Yeon? My, nephew, you have grown a lot since we first met, but surely your enthusiastic expression hasn't changed a bit!"
joked my uncle as he too, initiated an burly, vigorously embrace.
"Of course not Uncle! Your humor has maintained throughout the years as well; but, what of my cousins Kok Sang Chul and Yoo Byung Chul?" I said

North Korea's Nuclear War
The year is 2025, and everything is gone. New York is devastated, the White House has physically collapsed, and any form of government is gone. It
all began 10 years ago, in Washington DC.
President Barack Obama held a conference about the relationship between North Korea and America. Upon his exit, President Obama was shot, and
was later pronounced dead. The citizens of the United States went into an immediate panic, and suddenly, North Korea decided to take action and start a

The war went down and we won it all. Turn's out the T–1000's weren't prepared for our EMP's. One blast of an EMP could take out a T–1000 for 15
minutes. Kim Jong Un was at the top of our list, and he escaped. We instantly started a chase to catch him. He left to go to his nuclear facility, in
hope of launching more weapons. With a gun to one of his nuclear reactors, we told him, "Put your hands behind your back and drop the weapon".
He dropped the weapon and immediately reached to press the button with the label, "FIRE". I was like a sniper and shot from 1500 meters away,
right into his hand, injecting The FLare into him. And we lived happily ever after, yeah not really. Upon my exit, someone from my team yelled for
help, we thought it was Max, so we ran after him. When we got there, he had a assault rifle locked onto my head. He didn't meet with his family, he
met with North Korea and then, I was the suspect. The only thing we didn't teach, the dropkick. It only took one karate kick to the left side of the face
to knock him out. We arrested Kim and later convicted him with more than 300 million counts of murder. As for the traitor, we left him duct taped to
the diamond royalty chair. That was the end of Kim's supremacy. Today is my birthday, not really mine, but our brand new country's birthday. I am the

Social Conformity-Brain Games And Social Conformity Brain...
Of all the 7.5 billion people in this world, no two are alike. Everyone is different from how they dress, how they speak, and how they act. This is
due to individuality. Anthem takes place in a world with no individuality and a blind society. A society becomes blind when everyone converts to the
same behaviors and lose all sense of individuality, leading to controlling and overpowering leaders in the society. First of all, when a society becomes
"blind", this does not mean everyone literally loses their sight. A "blind society" is a figure of speech meaning that the people in a society are being
controlled without their knowledge. This can be illustrated with the "Social Conformity–Brain Games" video. In summary, this video takes place in a
waiting room with a group of people as well as one lady. Every time a beep goes off, the group stands. The woman, however, is unaware of the
project. After several beeps, the woman finally joins the crowd and stands, even though she does not understand why. This is a demonstration of a
blind society because the woman follows the actions over complete strangers without any specific reason. The video also displays the permanent
effect on a person's character. This is shown in the video when the woman is eventually left alone. She hears the beep and still stands up, even though
there is no one around. She conformed so much to the other behaviors that it became a habit for her. This shows, in essence, what it means for a
society to become

The Impact Of Propaganda In Fahrenheit 451
The Impact of Propaganda
In certain societies everything involved in one's life is influenced by the government. A government with total control is known as totalitarian. One of
the methods that these totalitarian governments use is propaganda. Propaganda is "the spreading of ideas, information, or rumor for the purpose of
helping or injuring an institution, a cause, or a person" (Merriam–Webster). In the novel 1984 by George Orwell, the protagonist, Winston Smith, is
influenced by the ideas presented by the government of Oceania. The totalitarian government in this novel, known as "The Party" ensures that the
citizens' minds are filled with propaganda and confusion so that thoughts of rebellion cannot be sustained. In the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury,
protagonist, Guy Montag, begins to question the society around him, and with the help of a few allies, changes his views. In this novel the government
uses propaganda to promote certain things in society, such as burning books. An example of this technique in the real world, is carried out by the ruler of
North Korea. In the country of North Korea, dictator Kim Jong Un uses propaganda to restrict his people from the world around them. For decades
North Korea has been one of the world's most secretive societies. It is one of the few countries still under formal communist rule. Throughout history,
freedom of expression is often limited by the government, allowing them to use propaganda as a method of totalitarian

Analysis Of The Massacre In Korea From 1950 By Pablo Picasso
One artist during the 1900s when to the extreme to paint political statements from the wars that America was facing. This artist name was Pablo
Picasso. Even though he has many pieces to choose from, I chose his piece called the Massacre in Korea from 1950. This piece is about the
communist and has a strong influence with the new age. It was popular to the people of its time, and it is still being talked about today. The main
points of this paper are going to be about the context of the painting, information of the design, and the visual aspect of the design. Pablo Picasso
painted this piece, Massacre in Korea from 1950, in the year of 1951 ("Massacre in Korea, 1951 by Pablo Picasso"). This painting was intended to be
an act of a mass killing that was being carried out by the North Koreans, South Koreans, and American forces. The town it was representing was
Sinchon which is in South Hwanghae Province, North Korea ("Massacre in Korea, 1951 by Pablo Picasso"). The Massacre in Korea from 1950 piece
was about an atmosphere of tension and death. Picasso wanted to transform is paintings and sculptures into emblems of death and the destruction of
war (Steinberg). Many viewers at the time questioned if this event even happened. The painting shows citizens being killed by what appears to be
possibly be Koreans. The people that are killing the citizens are Anti–Communist forces ("Massacre in Korea, 1951 by Pablo Picasso"). The viewers
also thought the soldiers were capable to be the destroyers of life. The soldiers were thought to have castrated themselves to deny the future
generation of human life from the world ("Massacre in Korea, 1951 by Pablo Picasso"). By looking at the image, there is a sense of innocence in
the women and children. They are standing in the painting looking frighten and lost. One woman in particular, is standing behind the other women,
and someone has a hand on her breast. This woman does not look afraid like the others. She looks innocent and calm. There is a sense of confidence
in her, almost like she knows everything will be alright. She is also the only woman with a regular face. The others seem to have a disarranged face.
Looking at the women and children as a whole, they look fertile

Kim Jong Il: Characteristics Of Dictator's Club
Over the course of history, it can be determined that the most evil of dictators follow the same set of characteristics. Generally, these tyrants rule with
an iron fist, deploying military power whenever they feel they should. They often funnel their state's coffers into their own personal bank accounts, and
it is common for dictators to force their people to treat them with the utmost reverence and respect. These traits are seen in rulers like Hitler, Stalin,
Mugabe and Hussein. However, there is one dictator set apart from the rest––the North Korean former President Kim Jong Il. It is Il's eccentricities, of
which there are many, distinguish from the other members of Dictator's Club. Kim Jong Il has been characterized by many renowned... Show more

thousand movie titles were housed. His favorite movies included Rambo and Godzilla, and almost all of the films were spread by the Western

fact, he allegedly concocted a plot to kidnap her and bring her back to North Korea. His passion in film and performance, however, was not confined
to his role as a viewer. In 1978, long before Il inherited power from his father, the South Korean film director Shin Sang–ok and his wife Choi Eun–hee
were kidnapped on Il's orders. They were told to assist the North Korean media in building a film industry, and made a total of seven movies before
their escape in 1986. Kim himself produced the movie Diary of a Girl Student, a film depicting the life of a young girl with scientists for parents.
This was stated in a news report for the Korean Central News Agency, a propaganda tool developed by Kim's father. Il also produced a
one–hundred–part documentary series on his country's history and wrote a book on film, The Art Of The Cinema.

The purpose of the Ministry of Truth is for employers to alter past news articles, books, etc.

lives), Eastasia, and Eurasia. As literary analytic Graves explains, "[i]f Oceania is at war with one of these, it has always been at

Examples of Machiavellian Leaders
Arguably, the most Machiavellian leader to ever exist would be Joseph Stalin. He abided by three major Machiavellian methods that were stated in
the Prince: the ends justifies the means, crush any opposition, and displaying a false character. Stalin had a plan for Russia and did everything in his
power to achieve that plan. He wanted to transform Russia into a industrial superpower, a military superpower, and a political superpower. To achieve
his goals he committed many horrible crimes against humanity. To be more specific, Stalin killed more than sixty million people during his reign. He
was a selfish cold–blooded, heart less, and evil leader; human life was nothing to him. What caused him to develop such evil traits? It all started... Show

This strategy disposed Stalin of any political opposition, which helped him sustain his power. Another major method that Stalin used to maintain
his power was the use of propaganda to portray himself as a benevolent father figure. While at the same time he was committing mass murder. In
Ukraine alone he killed ten million people in only two years! Many historians agree that Stalin killed over sixty million people. Why did he kill so
much people? This can be traced back to Machiavelli's The Prince. As discussed before, The Prince teaches that a ruler should have the fear of the
people. Stalin slaughtered so many people to prevent any opposition to his reign. He eliminated all the strong people, both the intellectual and
physical; therefore the few left would be too afraid and too weak, physically and mentally, to resist. Stalin did exactly what Machiavelli stated in the
Prince, which was also stated above, " And here it has to be noted that men must be either pampered or crushed, because they can get revenge fore
small injuries but not fore grievous ones." Stalin stated " Death is the solution to all problems. No man – no problem.", " Gratitude is a sickness
suffered by dogs.", and " I trust no one, not even myself." As it can be clearly seen, Joseph Stalin epitomises most of Machiavelli's beliefs that are
stated in The Prince. Therefore, Stalin can be consider Machiavelli's ideal prince. Finally, the last example of a past

Kim Jong–Il's Reign There is little known about the true inside of North Korea, but what we do know is that yields a powerful dictatorship across its
people. This dictatorship all began less than 100 years ago and has a very short history. A brief description of Korea's history, from History.com, shows
how the country split into two completely different countries: Japan annexed the Korean peninsula in 1910, and the country spent the next 35 years
under Japanese military rule. With Japan's defeat in World War II in 1945, American troops landed in the southern part of the peninsula, while Soviet

The resulting fireball would have produced third degree burns 62 miles away and it even broke windows in Finland and Norway. (Starr) This
display of nuclear power by the Russians, in 1960, proves the true power of what the North Koreans could have achieved by now. With Kim's power
and technology available to him, it would not be surprise that Korea has already accessed weapons of this power. Would anyone want this type of
physical power to be in the hands of someone who is a tyrant/dictator? It is scary to think that 1–ton of TNT, which is a powerful explosive device, is
only 1/1000 of a kiloton. The "Little Boy" (Starr) and "Fat Man" (Starr) were equal to 36 kiloton, while the "Tzar Bomba" (Starr) weighed in at 50,000

Though Kim Jong Il's government initially pledged to abide by the Nuclear Non–Proliferation Treaty (NPT), by the early 21st century reports had
surfaced of underground nuclear facilities and ongoing research into the production of highly enriched uranium. North Korea withdrew from the NPT

The U.N. investigation completed this lasted year has proven just how out of control supreme leader Kim Jong–un is. Kim's wild spending habits are
proving to harm the people he is suppose to be protecting while he enjoys the better thing that life has to offer.
Kim has also shown the world how questionable, impulsive, and illogical his leadership is. Just months after filling father Kim Jong–il's role as leader
Kim Jong–un ousted "older advisers who had been loyal to his father, Kim Jong Il" (Harlan). Kim didn't stop there, after ridding himself of loyal
and trusted advisers Kim recently accused his "uncle Jang Song Thaek, of opposing his rise and plotting an overthrow" (Harlan). Political experts
and people alike see Kim's purge of his fathers advisers and Kim's execution of his uncle as an attempt to hold all power in North Korea. "Hong

Kim Jong-Il Father
Essay 4 Kim Jong–Il's succession of his father, Kim Il–Sung, was not a simple process. Unlike North Korea's allies the USSR and China, North
Korea's system of succession was well–established and very thorough. North Korea's system was not based on the idea that Jong–Il would just become
the leader of the country. As stated in Lynn's Bipolar Orders, each stage of Jong–Il's ascension would test his political talents in order to prove that he
would be able to take control of North Korea effectively. The process would take many years and started long before the public knew that he would be
the one to succeed Kim Il–Sung. Kim Jong–Il's journey of succession started in the 1960's. When Jong–Il graduated from the University of Kim

The Totalitarian Government In 1984 And George Orwell's 1984
George Orwell's 1984, widely known for its chilling descriptions of the dystopian society of Oceania, warns of a world in which individuality is
virtually destroyed as one oppressive government controls all aspects of life. Decades after the novel's publication in 1949, various nations today draw
unsettling parallels with the characteristics of the government described in 1984. North Korea is one such example, particularly seen as a controversial
topic in global debate. Although North Korea and Oceania in 1984 both possess totalitarian governments that attempt to control and restrict
individualism, the means in which each government originated and gained authority differ. In North Korea, a totalitarian or dictatorial government
prevails, where one "Supreme Leader" is revered and even worshipped. This government features a monolithic system, which plays "a crucial role in
enabling the continuing monopoly of power by a sole leader" (Park 5–6). All components of life and society thus become fully oriented toward the
goals of the head of state, Kim Jong–un, and the Kim dynasty. According to Encyclopedia Britannica, the government–headed Korean Central News
Agency heavily commands the "dissemination of information, and all papers are strictly censored" (Lee et al.). This control over the movement of
ideas in the population not only fosters the spread of government ideology but also prompts citizens to remain ignorant regarding certain issues, such as

Korea the closest possible target of North Korea and they only have 0 ~6 minutes to react to the bomb then that would be a issue. Once North Korea
decides to strike there will be no time to stop them, and the only way to stop them is to start reacting now by getting the media's attention on the
news. "The North has already tried to help Syria build a nuclear reactor that could produce materials for nuclear weapons." Not only is North Korea
trying to build their own Nuclear weapons they are helping others build weapons. They helped Syria build nuclear weapon resources, and Syria is 32%
of America's enemy. The more allies that North Korea get, the more chances of North Korea bombing other countries.
In conclusion, North Korea should not be able to make Nuclear weapons because they have no resistance in their system to stop them from striking
the neighboring countries. The countries that are the possible targets for the nuclear bombs are the U.S, and South Korea, etc. In total The U.S
would have 10 minutes to react and South Korea would have 6 minutes to react to the nuclear bombs. Many people would be killed and suffer from
the bomb. The best thing to do now is for the issue to be addressed to the media which can get people to prepare for the

Former President of South Africa Nelson Mandela believes " Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world."
Mandela belief that education can change the world is still a dream. Education can prove to tackle the current issues across the world. Great leaders like
Nelson Mandela, Gandhi
Martin Luther King have always stressed on this matter. Education can help people
Improve their social economic standards by creating more job opportunities. "Give a
Man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." The above proverb clearly sums up what knowledge can
help people achieve. I believe that if all people has an education, they have a knowledge and understanding of what is happening to the world, they
knew what is the advantages and disadvantages of the decision they make, they will have a self discipline and concern to others and the results of this
we will have a wonderful world to live with.
To quote Nelson Mandela, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." According to the Merriam–Webster
Dictionary, "Education is the knowledge and development resulting from an educational process." It also prepares one for the ability of reasoning and
judging, readying one to face the "world". It's the foundation of developing one's mind and intellectual capability, without it, it is difficult to advance in

North Korea Economy

  • 1. North Korea Economy North Korea (officially named the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, or DPRK) is a single–party Communist state in south–east Asia, ruled since 1949 by the Korean Workers' Party (KWP). Regarded by many in the international community as a pariah state (meaning that it is an outcast), North Korea has in recent years become increasingly poverty–stricken, with many of its citizens having barely enough food to survive. The KWP is kept in power largely thanks to a combination of international concern for North Korean citizens and the patronage of the Chinese government, which exports large quantities of food to North Korea in return for KWP assistance in certain areas. Until the 1990's, North Korea also received significant quantities of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This has to be taken in the context of the considerable global recession that has been in play since 2008, the results from which North Korea was largely shielded due to its insularity. In general terms, the North Korean economy is still far poorer than most other Asian nations. Given the poor state of the nation's economy, North Korea's government has to rely upon the cult of personality in order to keep the population in check. Most art in the country venerates, either directly or indirectly, the 'great leader' Kim il–Sung or his successor, the current North Korean leader Kim Jong–il. Among the population, there is a strong level of belief in such apparent absurdities as the idea that Kim il–Sung created the entire world, or that Kim Jong–il controls the weather (Martin, 2004). State media sources are tightly controlled so as to prevent the North Korean public from accessing any information that does not come from the country's strict government bureau of information, and this means that many North Koreans are grossly misinformed about the position of North Korea in the world and believe, for example, that their meagre lifestyles are preferable to the terrible conditions in other countries. Visitors to North Korea routinely report tight levels of control, with mobile phones confiscated for the duration of the visit and all movement tracked by an official government–supplied 'tourist guide'. North Korea is widely regarded as one of the most insular ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Research Paper On North Korean Nuclear Crisis The Nuclear Crisis of 1993 The question of a nuclear North Korea has roots dating back to the 1980's. Initial concerns arose in the mid–1980's, with intelligence reports proposing the potential for North Korean nuclear ambitions. Reports cite the construction of a nuclear reactor capable of producing weapons–grade plutonium . The reactor in question, located in Yongbyon, was the focus of the first North Koreannuclear crisis in 1993. The Clinton administration proceeded with diplomatic efforts, forging an agreement by 1994 that effectually ended the crisis. Under the Agreed Framework, North Korea agreed to: (1) halt operation and construction of nuclear reactors, (2) freeze reprocessing of spent fuel (from which plutonium can be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... North Korea?s Cause for Concern The crisis has been largely framed as a bilateral dispute between the United States and North Korea. North Korea has repeatedly defended their nuclear weapons program, by claiming the need for ?nuclear deterrence? is a result of the United State?s ?hostile policy.? Pyongyang?s cause for concern can be seen upon consideration of the noticeable shift in US policy that took place when the Bush Administration took office. In reaction to the North Korea–Japan controversy in August 1998, when North Korea test–fired a missile over the main island of Japan, President Clinton sent Former Secretary of Defense, William Perry, to Pyongyang to deliver a US disarmament proposal. By September 1999, North Korea had agreed to stop conducting long–range missile tests, and, in turn, President Clinton eased economic sanctions on the country. The situation is used as an example of the Clinton administration?s approach to dealing with North Korea ?a willingness to engage in dialogue that was presumably perceived by North Korea as a necessary step towards normalizing relations with the United States. The Bush Administration sought to make their policy towards North Korea clear, even before taking office, as the foreign policy team ?blasted the Clinton Administration for being soft on Pyongyang ? during the presidential campaign. North Korea Threatens War Over Nuclear Ambitions Tim Middendorf Professor Stephens 4–24–2017 Causal Analysis Essay North Korea Threatens War over Nuclear Ambitions Amid Growing tensions between the Unites States and North Korea over the North's ambition to have and control nuclear weapons with the capability of reaching the continental United States. The world watches and waits for the start of what may be the next world war. As the Unites States searches for a diplomatic solution with the help of its allies in the area, the U.S. military stands ready to win any conflict that may arise from the situation in North Korea. President Trump in a speech on April 24th, 2017 has stated that the North is a real threat to the world and that they are a problem that finally needs to be solved calling for heavier sanctions against the country. In an article by Joshua Taylor in the Daily Mirror, London, England, he tells about statements that President Trump has said about the North and China. Trump states that " China has great influence over North Korea and they will either help the United States or they wont. If they do then it will be good for China and if not then it wont be good for anyone. If china wont deal with them then we will" (Taylor, 2017.). The U.S. president has made it clear that he intends to be vigilant with the current tension with the North. In doing so President Trump has sent three aircraft carrier groups to the region as a show of force to try and sway Kim Jung Un form continuing his missile tests. • 4. Orwell And 1984 In our world, everything we do is monitored. Nothing we do goes unseen. Our world demonstrates the idea of an Orwellian society. The book 1984 by George Orwell shows a society that is a perfect example for this idea. The Stanford experiment, the documentary 10 Days in North Korea, and the Milgram experiment each represent a great example of an Orwellian society. Let me go a little more into detail on the Stanford Experiment. This was an experiment that was conducted in 1973. A professor (Philip Zimbardo) at Stanford University wanted to study the behavior between prisoners and guards. In this study, a group of 75 people volunteered to be locked in a prison setting for 2 weeks. 24 of the 75 were chosen randomly. They were paid 15 dollars... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a documentary set place in North Korea to study the lifestyle of Koreans for 10 days. In the documentary, they visit schools, hospitals, and other workplaces to interview workers. In these interviews, they ask how they like the style of government. Every response that is given is positive. Their government is so controlling that if they were to say one bad thing about it, then it would backfire on them. North Koreans are pretty much brainwashed into thinking that there is no better place to live. Their lives are controlled so much that the government even controls the smallest part of their lives. In the book, Oceania is much like North Korea. Sometimes people betray the party and are never seen again. "More commonly, people who had incurred the displeasure of the Party simply disappeared and were never heard of again." (Orwell 44–45). Big Brother is just like Kim Jong–Un. Big Brother has given everyone a house, job, and money to live off of. In return for this favor, the people are expected to worship and obey Big Brothers commands. • 5. The Democratic People's Republic Of Korea (DPRK) I have chosen the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) because it continues to pose a national security risk to the United States of America through its armament of nuclear weapons. The United States and DPRK have maintained a tense and unstable relationship due to opposing ideologies: federal republic vs communist dictatorship. Roots going back to the Cold War era can explain current tensions between these nations. Presently, the DPRK adamantly refuses to disarm its nuclear weapons, and therefore, has created tense relationships between itself and other great powers in the world. The Bush Administration pushed for economic sanctions against the North Koreans which escalated conflicts and stopped progress. The Obama Administration, while making little progress, was the most successful because it pursued the policy of strategic patience and limited the amount of spending. The Obama Administration was given little chance in forging peace with North Korea because the North Koreans consistently defied Resolutions and provoked the United States as well as the UNSC into sanctions. Today, the United States has placed retaliatory sanctions on North Korea because it suspects the Koreans hacked Sony Pictures Entertainment over an Anti–Korean movie. • 6. Gaining Power : What Makes One Successful Or Not? Gaining power is something that our species has evolved to strive for. Throughout history man has always tried to gain power in some way, but gaining power is not an easy task and while gaining power is something that is core to all of human desire it is reached in different ways. Some gain power through war, economics, politics, and some power is inherited, but regardless of how power is gained, all power has to be maintained and how it is maintained is the real argument because the ways of gaining power that we explore have already happened and were successful in giving power to people but the ways the power is maintained is what makes one successful or not. The reason he was able to do such great things because he was true to how he gained his power, which he got by being liked among his people and sharing their beliefs. He never took his power for granted and he would remind his co–workers that as well and by doing this he created a government that even today, after he has left the office, still spends large portions of their budget on social programs that help the lower and middle class citizens. Another example of power gained politically is the Kim family's control over North Korea. Kim Il–Sung's introduction to power was similar to Lee Kuan Yew and the way they maintained their power wasn't as different as you may think. Il–Sung used his Anderson 3 power to turn Korea into an extremely communist nation, which in theory should help the nation's people by having a large number of agricultural and industrial workers. However, due to poor soil and lots of floods, farming is a hard job to do in North Korea and because of this fact, many of the nation's people live in poverty because of the focus on having a lot of agricultural workers, but the Kim family continues to maintain their power but Kim Jong Un maintains his power differently than his grandfather and that is why he is able to keep his power. • 7. Myths Are A Critical Tool The word "myth" typically brings to mind dusty, ancient volumes of Greek and Roman fables– stories of angry gods and supernatural creatures. But myths encompass a much wider category. In fact, myths are a critical tool for leaders and politicians in uniting their nations. Myths are narratives used to make sense of current or historical events and they can be manipulated for both good and bad. This essay considers the way in which myths are used in nation–building and war by examining several prominent examples. The Merriam–Webster dictionary provides several definitions for the word "myth." One is that which is most often used by popular culture: "an idea or story that is believed by many people but that is not true." Another, and the one with which this essay concerns itself, is: "a usually traditional story of ostensibly historical events that serves to unfold part of the world view of a people or explain a practice, belief, or natural phenomenon." In reality, it matters not whether the myth is fact or fiction. In the first place, historiography is always an interpretation of the past according to the present, and thus can never be purely "objective." Second, the validity of the facts is of little importance insofar as the myth accomplishes its intended purpose. For instance, consider a modern nation that is completely surrounded in myth– North Korea. The official story of its former leader's birth claims that when Kim Jong–Il was born, a new star appeared in the sky, a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. China 's Influence On The Reunification Of The Korean... Has China's role been primarily positive or negative in the reunification of the Korean Peninsula? In recent years, Asia has drawn plenty of attentions from the world, not only because of the rising great power China but also the increasingly unpredictable and unsettled North Korea. Based on the past history of German reunification in 1990 and enthusiasm for the reunification among citizens in both South Korea and North Korea, it seems to be a consensus in the world that the Korean Peninsula will eventually reunified. The remaining questions are when and how will the reunification take place. With the potential regional hegemon China continues to grow and the United States has set its pivot in Asia to restrain China's rising, there is no doubt that the reunification will greatly change the power distribution in Asia. As the only country that has meaningful relationships with both South Korea and North Korea, China is commonly viewed as the main facilitator in the reunification. As a result, China's attitudes and policies towards both countries are crucial to this issue. China has always been openly support the reunification of Korean Peninsula. However, on the other side, China continues to support Kim family's authoritarian regime and prevents the regime from falling apart. • 10. The Function Of A Hero Introduction What is a hero? Well a hero is people like Thor and Wonder Woman, actually no they are heroes but let's think about people in general. Well what a hero really is, a hero is someone who is helping, willing and self sacrificing. A hero does what they can to fix a problem 1st or 3rd world problems they are willing to fix the problems that are beneficial. Now a hero also has to be cognitive because heroes have to make decisions every single day that also could lead to life or death situations. People who might be considered as a hero under this criteria could be teachers, specific people like Abraham Lincoln, Harriet Tubman, and Malala Yousafzai, but definitely not people like Kim Jong Un & loan sharks. Basically to sum up a hero is really in general is just a helpful, willing, self sacrificial, and a smart person who teaches. Function Teachers are regular people taken for granted yet the society doesn't know that teachers are important and without them would mean the world being without knowledge. First of all teachers are heroes to me because teachers consistently stay up to grade and help us. Thus teachers are heroes like all heroes–they sacrifice their day because of this to teach, inspire, and mold children so they can be better than the current generation. It is not about them–it is about others. In addition teachers also care for each other by providing to be a substitute for other sick teachers by sacrificing their planning period. • 11. North Kore A Threat Of World Security Essay North Korea is a nation where their once family and ally, South Korea, has become their biggest enemyies. North Korea has taken extensive measures to make sure they are included in some of the most powerful nations of the modern century. They have done this using the power of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction. They have been claimed as a physical and no longer theoretical threat to its surrounding nations. North Korea has become a threat of world security and, we should raise arms against North Korea and make them join the NATO in their quest for world peace and a civilized world, To raise arms against North Korea we would cut off their supplies which would end the war very quickly and with very little cost., The result of North Korea surrendering would show the power of the NATO., After the war against North Korea, China would take over the small country and would use it as a NATO military outpost. (what is supposed to happen in theory). Leadership in North Korea The three dictatorial leaders of North Korea have been Kim II–Sung, Kim Jong Iil, and& Kim Jong un. • 12. North Korea's Kim Jong-Un : A Perfect Prince Kim Jong–Un: A Perfect Prince Throughout all of history, there has been a countless number of leaders who fit the description of Machiavelli's "Perfect Prince". One of the many world leaders that fits the description is North Korea's Kim Jong–Un. Kim is a cunning, sneaky, powerful dictator that is world renowned. He follows Machiavelli's guidelines extremely well, making him a good fit for the role. Kim Jong–Un is a Perfect Prince because he is feared, has a mix of power and cunning, and makes people think he is cruel. First, Machiavelli states that "...a prince ought to inspire fear in such a way that, if he does not win love, he avoids hatred." If Kim is hated, people will want to end his rule. Obviously this is not in Kim's best interest, so he must be feared or loved rather than hated. But people have an easier time betraying someone who is loved, because they do not fear the consequences that would happen post betrayal. Machiavelli says "...but fear preserves you by a dread of punishment which never fails." Therefore it is best to be feared rather than loved, although if one is feared, he must not be hated. One reason Kim Jong–Un is feared is because recently, he had his half brother assassinated. He did this to show his people that if anyone, even family members, may stand in his way he will have them eliminated. At the Kuala Lumpur airport in Malaysia, Kim Jong–Nam (Kim Jong–Un's half brother) was poisoned by assassins. Another reason Kim Jong–Un is feared is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The key fundamental in this leadership style is making your followers aware that their failure will ultimately cause some form of punishment. This can take many forms and has been demonstrated on many scales through history. Your boss at work that punishes you with extra work should you fail to succeed at a task is one example. I believe the most coercive leader in our world today is Kim Jong–Il. Kim Jong–Il has been the "Supreme Commander" of North Korea since 1997. He has totally blocked all internet and media transmissions into North Korea. No news gets in and you can guarantee that very little gets out. Outsiders are not welcome to visit North Korea unless they are escorted by officials of the Government everywhere they go. While his coercive style may have shaped his rule in North Korea it has in some form shifted into a more Legitimate Power. While generations past may have feared Kim Jong–Il the population of North Korea today loves him as their leader. Where some societies look to religion to fill their spiritual needs, North Koreans look to Kim Jong–Il for the same satisfaction. While he may have had no right to rule in the beginning and his coercive style solidified his position he is certainly showing Legitimate Power in today's world. It will be a terrible loss for the people of North Korea when they lose Kim, but at the same time it may be the best thing that ever happened to them. He was a dictator of a country that is widely believed to have the worst human rights in the world, and this shows in the way he ruled the country with often little regard to the individual person. He is overall a Machiavellian dictator, as many of the ways in which he lead North Korea are in adherence to Machiavelli's statements, examples of which being how he was presented as having all good qualities and how he was not afraid of hurting his citizens given that the end results of it would better the nation. This statement means that a prince should try to make it seem like he possesses every possible quality that would make him a good prince, however it is not important if he actually has these qualities. In fact, according to Machiavelli actually possessing the qualities that are thought to make a leader good and using these qualities to lead will cause one to fail as a leader. • 15. Good And Evil In Beowulf Throughout many forms of literature a common theme that can be seen across books is that no matter how great and evil may be good will always triumph in the end. A similar case of this can be seen in the Anglo–Saxon Beowulf. The foul monster Grendel is known for his bloodlust from hunting down those who resided within the Herot; slaughtering them whenever the sun went down for more than a decade, but even Grendel had something he feared. Even after the Herot was abandoned and desecrated by Grendel there was one thing he would not defile. In the Herot sat Hrothgar the King of Danes' throne which was protected by God (Beowulf 82–85). Despite being far stronger than most mortals he feared the possibility of incurring God's wrath if he harms the throne as Gods in many different cultures are defined as almighty beings that no one or thing can defy. As such, harming the throne would be a sign of aggression against not just Hrothgar but God as well. The mortal Beowulf came to slay Grendel, but mortals should be weaker than monsters. Beowulf however had mentioned to the warriors at the Herot that while he was swimming across a frozen sea with no more than a sword he fought many sea creatures. Mentioning that "there at the bottom of the sea; by morning they'd decided to sleep on the shore, lying on their backs, their blood spilling out" (Beowulf 297–299). During the Soviet Era, Russian citizens experienced an oppressing lifestyle where their paranoid leader, Joseph Stalin, enforced various laws which limited the liberties of the people. For the people of Oceania in the novel 1984 by George Orwell, Big Brother is their manipulating leader who controls every aspect of their lives. This novel, written in 1949, was based on the futuristic idea that one day, people of this world would have little to no freedom because the government would possess too much power. Unfortunately, this strategy of regime has become a reality in some countries around the world. In the novel 1984 by George Orwell, there are clear connections between the Ministry of Truth and the modern day government in countries including North and South Korea. The Ministry of Truth is one branch of the government that deals with propaganda in 1984. The other branches of the government are the Ministry of Love, the Ministry of Peace, and the Ministry of Plenty. The purpose of the Ministry of Truth is for employers to alter past news articles, books, etc. that have information which contradicts current claims that the government makes. Everyone is different from how they dress, how they speak, and how they act. This is due to individuality. Anthem takes place in a world with no individuality and a blind society. A society becomes blind when everyone converts to the same behaviors and lose all sense of individuality, leading to controlling and overpowering leaders in the society. First of all, when a society becomes "blind", this does not mean everyone literally loses their sight. A "blind society" is a figure of speech meaning that the people in a society are being controlled without their knowledge. This can be illustrated with the "Social Conformity–Brain Games" video. In summary, this video takes place in a waiting room with a group of people as well as one lady. Every time a beep goes off, the group stands. The woman, however, is unaware of the project. After several beeps, the woman finally joins the crowd and stands, even though she does not understand why. This is a demonstration of a blind society because the woman follows the actions over complete strangers without any specific reason. The video also displays the permanent effect on a person's character. This is shown in the video when the woman is eventually left alone. She hears the beep and still stands up, even though there is no one around. She conformed so much to the other behaviors that it became a habit for her. A government with total control is known as totalitarian. One of the methods that these totalitarian governments use is propaganda. Propaganda is "the spreading of ideas, information, or rumor for the purpose of helping or injuring an institution, a cause, or a person" (Merriam–Webster). In the novel 1984 by George Orwell, the protagonist, Winston Smith, is influenced by the ideas presented by the government of Oceania. The totalitarian government in this novel, known as "The Party" ensures that the citizens' minds are filled with propaganda and confusion so that thoughts of rebellion cannot be sustained. In the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, protagonist, Guy Montag, begins to question the society around him, and with the help of a few allies, changes his views. In this novel the government uses propaganda to promote certain things in society, such as burning books. An example of this technique in the real world, is carried out by the ruler of North Korea. In the country of North Korea, dictator Kim Jong Un uses propaganda to restrict his people from the world around them. For decades North Korea has been one of the world's most secretive societies. This piece is about the communist and has a strong influence with the new age. It was popular to the people of its time, and it is still being talked about today. The main points of this paper are going to be about the context of the painting, information of the design, and the visual aspect of the design. Pablo Picasso painted this piece, Massacre in Korea from 1950, in the year of 1951 ("Massacre in Korea, 1951 by Pablo Picasso"). This painting was intended to be an act of a mass killing that was being carried out by the North Koreans, South Koreans, and American forces. The town it was representing was Sinchon which is in South Hwanghae Province, North Korea ("Massacre in Korea, 1951 by Pablo Picasso"). The Massacre in Korea from 1950 piece was about an atmosphere of tension and death. Picasso wanted to transform is paintings and sculptures into emblems of death and the destruction of war (Steinberg). Many viewers at the time questioned if this event even happened. The painting shows citizens being killed by what appears to be possibly be Koreans. The people that are killing the citizens are Anti–Communist forces ("Massacre in Korea, 1951 by Pablo Picasso"). The viewers also thought the soldiers were capable to be the destroyers of life. The soldiers were thought to have castrated themselves to deny the future generation of human life from the world ("Massacre in Korea, 1951 by Pablo Picasso"). By looking at the image, there is a sense of innocence in the women and children. They are standing in the painting looking frighten and lost. One woman in particular, is standing behind the other women, and someone has a hand on her breast. This woman does not look afraid like the others. She looks innocent and calm. There is a sense of confidence in her, almost like she knows everything will be alright. She is also the only woman with a regular face. The others seem to have a disarranged face. Growing up, I learned to understand it was because I looked different and racism is a concept that is inevitable, but the summer of seventh grade I visited Korea, it changed everything. It had been a while since I last visited Korea, I had been so young I could not remember anything. But when I went that summer when I was older, I was shocked. In a land where I thought I belonged to with my race, was doing the opposite of what I had to learn to overcome in America. In a place where I thought I looked the same still had reasons to accept me. Even though I was the same race as the people there, I still wasn't good enough. My skin was to dark, I was too big, my face was too round, and I didn't look 'asian'. Racism had been consistently plaguing by my side since the beginning. I realized still a bit surprise and a tad offended, but I thought, I'm not living here in Korea anyways so why worry? And then, in the end of August my parents told me we were moving to Korea on the 30th of August. I had finally adjusted myself, and gotten everything back in place after my injury, and now I was moving. Like a house ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. Examples of Machiavellian Leaders Arguably, the most Machiavellian leader to ever exist would be Joseph Stalin. He abided by three major Machiavellian methods that were stated in the Prince: the ends justifies the means, crush any opposition, and displaying a false character. Stalin had a plan for Russia and did everything in his power to achieve that plan. He wanted to transform Russia into a industrial superpower, a military superpower, and a political superpower. To achieve his goals he committed many horrible crimes against humanity. To be more specific, Stalin killed more than sixty million people during his reign. He was a selfish cold–blooded, heart less, and evil leader; human life was nothing to him. What caused him to develop such evil traits? It all started... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This strategy disposed Stalin of any political opposition, which helped him sustain his power. Another major method that Stalin used to maintain his power was the use of propaganda to portray himself as a benevolent father figure. While at the same time he was committing mass murder. In Ukraine alone he killed ten million people in only two years! Many historians agree that Stalin killed over sixty million people. Why did he kill so much people? This can be traced back to Machiavelli's The Prince. As discussed before, The Prince teaches that a ruler should have the fear of the people. Stalin slaughtered so many people to prevent any opposition to his reign. He eliminated all the strong people, both the intellectual and physical; therefore the few left would be too afraid and too weak, physically and mentally, to resist. Stalin did exactly what Machiavelli stated in the Prince, which was also stated above, " And here it has to be noted that men must be either pampered or crushed, because they can get revenge fore small injuries but not fore grievous ones." Stalin stated " Death is the solution to all problems. No man – no problem.", " Gratitude is a sickness suffered by dogs.", and " I trust no one, not even myself." As it can be clearly seen, Joseph Stalin epitomises most of Machiavelli's beliefs that are stated in The Prince. Therefore, Stalin can be consider Machiavelli's ideal prince. Finally, the last example of a past ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This quote is showing that evil comes in small and possibly not even seen or expected. If allowed it will spread like a wildfire and destroying anything in its path making it impossible to put it out and to many people and issues feed into it. The origin of "Evil enters like a needle and spreads like an oak tree" comes from Ethiopia and it was based on the fall of their economy. In 1916 Ethiopia's leader was ripped from power and the refugees demanded that all religion was stopped, economic issues grew over 85%, and the whole atmosphere was shifted that day. Back then it was a very strong ordeal, race came in like a virus and spread like one to. This is shown when, "But by the time of Bacon's rebellion in the mid–1670s– an insurrection involving white and black servants against wealthy virginia planters– the status of Africans began to change." Racial issues in America became so common and overpowering it was overlooked by whites and swept under the rug for blacks. The hate here it wasn't the way it entered but the way it was spread and once it begun it couldn't really be stopped. Sometimes when people point out an issue, no matter what power the obtain, they are still questioned and shot down at any point given. This is shown in, "And it was curious, and hurtful, that Obama responded at times to the criticism by scolding black folk in public for making excuses he said were holding them back." When the president of the time spoke out on the racial issue he came across like he was giving sympathy to black men and woman for not making anything of themselves but to others he came across like he was shooting african americans down for not standing up. No matter the way he might have wanted it to come across, the issue still continued and in some areas it increased. When the Civil War was taken place race was in the middle of their battle. • 34. Kim Jong-Il: the Reign of Terror English 205 20 May 2013 Kim Jong–Il's Reign There is little known about the true inside of North Korea, but what we do know is that yields a powerful dictatorship across its people. This dictatorship all began less than 100 years ago and has a very short history. A brief description of Korea's history, from History.com, shows how the country split into two completely different countries: Japan annexed the Korean peninsula in 1910, and the country spent the next 35 years under Japanese military rule. With Japan's defeat in World War II in 1945, American troops landed in the southern part of the peninsula, while Soviet troops secured the area north of latitude 38Лљ N (or the 38th parallel). The resulting fireball would have produced third degree burns 62 miles away and it even broke windows in Finland and Norway. (Starr) This display of nuclear power by the Russians, in 1960, proves the true power of what the North Koreans could have achieved by now. With Kim's power and technology available to him, it would not be surprise that Korea has already accessed weapons of this power. Would anyone want this type of physical power to be in the hands of someone who is a tyrant/dictator? It is scary to think that 1–ton of TNT, which is a powerful explosive device, is only 1/1000 of a kiloton. The "Little Boy" (Starr) and "Fat Man" (Starr) were equal to 36 kiloton, while the "Tzar Bomba" (Starr) weighed in at 50,000 kilotons. Kim could poses nuclear weapons of this degree hidden in North Korea underground. If North Korea detonated nuclear weapons there is no doubt Seoul, South Korea and America would be the first targets. Pruitt's research provides insight on Kim's insistent pursuit of nuclear experiments: Though Kim Jong Il's government initially pledged to abide by the Nuclear Non–Proliferation Treaty (NPT), by the early 21st century reports had surfaced of underground nuclear facilities and ongoing research into the production of highly enriched uranium. North Korea withdrew from the NPT in 2003 and openly resumed nuclear research at a facility in Yongbyon. • 35. North Korea's Actions Are Crimes Against Humanity Essay Debates have been swirling around the international community over North Korea's recent actions considered to be "Crimes against humanity" (Pearson, Hanna, and Park). When did North Korea start to have these issues and who is behind the crimes arguably equal to that of Nazi Germany? Was it during the reign of Kim ll–sung or Kim Jong–il? Arguments can be made that the crimes did start under the reign of these two leaders, but the real culprit behind the crimes against humanity is Kim Jong–un the current supreme leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The issues within the Democratic People's Republic of Korea start on the top with leader Kim Jong–un. Supreme leader Kim Jong–un has provide a bad reputation for himself due to ... Kim's wild spending habits are proving to harm the people he is suppose to be protecting while he enjoys the better thing that life has to offer. Kim has also shown the world how questionable, impulsive, and illogical his leadership is. Just months after filling father Kim Jong–il's role as leader Kim Jong–un ousted "older advisers who had been loyal to his father, Kim Jong Il" (Harlan). Kim didn't stop there, after ridding himself of loyal and trusted advisers Kim recently accused his "uncle Jang Song Thaek, of opposing his rise and plotting an overthrow" (Harlan). Political experts and people alike see Kim's purge of his fathers advisers and Kim's execution of his uncle as an attempt to hold all power in North Korea. "Hong Kwan–hee, a professor in the Department of North Korea Studies", believes "In the short run this kind of action could give Kim a more strong power base, but in the long run North Korea will be faced by very fundamental political instability" (MacLeod). • 36. Kim Jong-Il Father Essay 4 Kim Jong–Il's succession of his father, Kim Il–Sung, was not a simple process. Unlike North Korea's allies the USSR and China, North Korea's system of succession was well–established and very thorough. North Korea's system was not based on the idea that Jong–Il would just become the leader of the country. As stated in Lynn's Bipolar Orders, each stage of Jong–Il's ascension would test his political talents in order to prove that he would be able to take control of North Korea effectively. The process would take many years and started long before the public knew that he would be the one to succeed Kim Il–Sung. Kim Jong–Il's journey of succession started in the 1960's. When Jong–Il graduated from the University of Kim Il–Sung in 1964, he immediately took up a position in the Korean Worker's Party (KWP) (Lynn, 2007). As he worked with these organization, he gained experience as well as power (Lynn, 2007). Jong–Il held several positions within the KWP(Lynn, 2007). This would culminate with him taking the position of Head of the Organization and Guidance Department in 1973 (Lynn, 2007). This was most prestigious position that Jong–Il would acquire before he would start becoming the true successor to Il–Sung. The KWP Politburo decided that in February 1974, Jong–Il would be officially designated as the successor to Il–Sung after years of proving his political skill (Lynn, 2007). • 37. The Totalitarian Government In 1984 And George Orwell's 1984 George Orwell's 1984, widely known for its chilling descriptions of the dystopian society of Oceania, warns of a world in which individuality is virtually destroyed as one oppressive government controls all aspects of life. Decades after the novel's publication in 1949, various nations today draw unsettling parallels with the characteristics of the government described in 1984. North Korea is one such example, particularly seen as a controversial topic in global debate. Although North Korea and Oceania in 1984 both possess totalitarian governments that attempt to control and restrict individualism, the means in which each government originated and gained authority differ. In North Korea, a totalitarian or dictatorial government prevails, where one "Supreme Leader" is revered and even worshipped. This government features a monolithic system, which plays "a crucial role in enabling the continuing monopoly of power by a sole leader" (Park 5–6). All components of life and society thus become fully oriented toward the goals of the head of state, Kim Jong–un, and the Kim dynasty. According to Encyclopedia Britannica, the government–headed Korean Central News Agency heavily commands the "dissemination of information, and all papers are strictly censored" (Lee et al.). This control over the movement of ideas in the population not only fosters the spread of government ideology but also prompts citizens to remain ignorant regarding certain issues, such as government actions ... The world will have to go through what happened in Hiroshima again or maybe even more."People living in Seoul would essentially have zero to 6 minutes – from the moment a missile is launched to the time it hits the target – to take cover in the event of a strike, Schiller and Wright said." South Korea the closest possible target of North Korea and they only have 0 ~6 minutes to react to the bomb then that would be a issue. Once North Korea decides to strike there will be no time to stop them, and the only way to stop them is to start reacting now by getting the media's attention on the news. "The North has already tried to help Syria build a nuclear reactor that could produce materials for nuclear weapons." Not only is North Korea trying to build their own Nuclear weapons they are helping others build weapons. They helped Syria build nuclear weapon resources, and Syria is 32% of America's enemy. The more allies that North Korea get, the more chances of North Korea bombing other countries. In conclusion, North Korea should not be able to make Nuclear weapons because they have no resistance in their system to stop them from striking the neighboring countries. The countries that are the possible targets for the nuclear bombs are the U.S, and South Korea, etc. In total The U.S would have 10 minutes to react and South Korea would have 6 minutes to react to the nuclear bombs.
