series of questions. The data I received
back is displayed in the charts I have
created.

2. Do you think the name ENCORE
reflects the Hip Hop music genre?

responses answered yes. The
8 reasons they gave was because
encore is a musical term and a few

hip hop albums such as Eminem’s

short and catchy and so it is easy to

expect to see in a Hip Hop magazine?
(Along with the colours, I stated
what the colours represented).

Black White schemes, I have found out that
Purple purple was the most popular due
to artists being successful and
wealthy. Also, the purple will
stand out and attract the female
audience as well as the male.

4. What do you think of my front cover?
All 10 people liked my image as
they thought it goes well with my
genre. The mise-en-scene (the
snapback, jewellery and simple
tee) helped emphasis the genre.
The model’s facial expression is
simple and serious, which
duplicates the facial expressions
of real artists on real Hip Hop
magazines. The idea of having
minimal sell lines of artists’
names keeps the magazine
simple and also, replicates other
Hip Hop magazines, such as XXL.

5. What gender do you think my
magazine is aimed at?
6 Majority of the answers I
received back thought my

magazine was aimed at the
4 male audience. This is
because males listen to Hip
3 Hop and rap music more
than females. The people

females who actually listen

to Hip Hop music and seem

6. What age group do you think this
magazine is aimed at?

When I asked this
question, I hadn’t put the
option of ‘16-27 years’.
However, the feedback
2 10 - 15 years that I got was that my
16 - 21 years audience will fall over 2
6 22 - 27 years of the groups and I
2 28+ years should broaden the age
16 - 27 years groups, which is why I
added the last
group, which then
received the most votes.

7. What features would you expect to
see in a Hip Hop magazine?
This was an open question and so I was expecting
qualitative data.
The response received was what I was expecting.
The audience was expecting news about artists, top
selling albums, upcoming events such as tours and
concerts, competitions and a style section which
could advertise clothing and jewellery. The answer I
wasn’t expecting was a gossip section. I will have to
interpret this into my contents page and give the
audience what they want.

magazine?
