Abstract
Remote health caring of patients / critical patients at home / hospitals especially new born
babies kept in a cage, kindergarten and aged people is increasing with the popularity of various
nature of mobile devices that has developed to enable remotely caring. The IoT (Internet of
Things) and the mobile technologies make it easier to monitor the patients’ health conditions by
sharing the health information to health care teams such as doctors, nurses and specialists.
However, the guardians of the patients can be anxious about their patients when they are in
work. We have designed a new edge IoT based hardware and software for a one of the health
care system to the hospital management / personnel to allow caretaker along with doctors to
remotely monitor health conditions of patients via internet. I feel, especially body temperature
monitoring awareness and sharing information is main focus, as it is the root cause of maximum
health issues.
Introduction
The IoT (Internet of Things) is the network of physical objects-devices and other items embedded
with electronics hardware, sensors, a network connectivity that enables these objects to collect
and exchange data and finally software and analytical features do the best diagnosis. According
to the Gartner, 260 million objects (In variety of domains like automotive, building management,
smart city verticals, retail and manufacturing) will be connected by year 2020. In this paper, I
have summarized tangible on the IoT based service models which are helpful to the industrial
world to understand IoT business.
In the 21st century, we want to be connected with anything, anytime and anywhere, which is
already happening in various places around the world. The core component of this hyper
connected society is IoT, which is also referred to as Machine to Machine (M2M)
communication.
Why? We need to monitor body temperature
The change in the body temperature i.e. regularly high or low temperature at particular
duration of time or an event would effects our body function > effects daily routine > creates
issues in health > effects work and time > change in medication > doctor helps > loss of
health and money. For example - the Bacterial infection can cause the body temperature to rise
/ low. In fact, it's one of the most common causes of change in the body temperature. Since
viruses and bacteria have a hard time surviving at temperatures higher than normal body
temperature, when the body detects a bacterial infection, it involuntarily increases its
temperature (fever) and increases blood flow to speed up the body's defense actions in order to
fight the infection. It's not uncommon for the body to raise its body temperature as much as 3 to
5°F to fight off an infection. Because elevated body temperature also causes harm to the body,
we don't want to let prolonged high temperatures go untreated.

Smart sensing:
In the proposed thought, I have selected the low power Bluetooth technology as a wireless media
interfaced with temperature sensor. The device shall be very tiny and handy (Refer figure.1) and it
works on 3.3V battery cell. The reason to choose Bluetooth is, it has connectivity to our new
generation smart phones.

How system works?
The temperature patch shall be connected to the particular location of the body to get the
accurate temperature. This collected data from sensor at period interval of time is sent to Smart
phone over Bluetooth 4.0. The smart application designed over Android / iOS application
platform shall do data analysis and send real time data to the cloud application named patient
health monitoring system over GPRS / Wi-Fi backbone (Refer figure 2).
The concerned doctor can analyse the data and suggest medication in real time. Based on the
temperature vs time graph the dieses could be recognized easily! Further to the application, it
shall have health reports for remote diagnosis, alarm on set temperature limit, schedule alert to
take medicine, schedule to visit doctor. This shall be connected to Smart health platform
programme, which is interfaced with Ambulance, emergency call points.

Conclusion
This thought paper is significant in outlining the scope of work in health care domain. This
domain is one of the premium sectors for business and R&D. To explore further, we can further
explore to other parameters to take data from the compact designed devices like ECG, BP, Body
mass index, sonography from remote locations. The real time application shall provide
significant data for better services and better health. This application of smart tracking of
temperature shall be used for babies kept in a glass cage, critical patients (ICU), aged people,
school children and of course, entire community. You can see bodily topography of emotions (Refer
figure. 4) how the temperature varies as per the behaviour of the human being…
