Summary;
This paper defined the different concepts of quality such as Quality Assurance and Quality
Enhancement in Higher Education and the same is the purpose of this paper. The design of this
paper can be explained by the analysis of different definitions. This is a conceptual type paper
and the finding of this paper tells that the quality enhancement and the quality assurance are the
continuous process in Higher Education system. In introduction it is defined that how quality
enhancement and quality assurance are reviewed in different definitions. Further it is discussed
that these both concepts are related to one thing which is quality. In next phase the origin of
quality is discussed and said that this is an old concept. Its roots can be traced from different
civilizations like Egyptian, Greek and Roman etc. Later on the quality developed itself gradually
and with the passage of time quality is available in developed form and it is also irresistible.
In next part of this paper, the meaning of quality is discussed with different approaches and with
different aspects. These approaches tell that what actually quality is. After discussing the
meaning of quality in details the next part highlight the difficulties which are being faced while
defining the quality. The difficulties are defined in two reasons. One of them is said the quality is
a relative concept and the other one is said that the quality can be used in different contexts.
These parts were all about the Quality.
The next part defines the Quality Assurance, the meaning of quality assurance and the
relationships in between both QA and QE. In relationship it is explained that the quality
enhancement comes after the quality assurance because quality enhancement based on quality
assurance. In this explanation of author further defined that there is a major difference between
QA and QE because they both have different approaches. The next part of this paper, on page
number 8 a table is given which differentiate the both concepts of QA and QE. There are 9
differences given for differentiating the QA and QE.
After this part there is a conclusion in which the implications of this study are given. The quality
term is used in business an industrial sectors so the meaning of quality in education will be quite
different. In educational sector the meaning of quality is different because of the complexity of
this sector. Further conclusion of this study is to contribute in the understanding of quality in this
field.
