Buthe has a problem: he understands everything except other humanbeings. He doesn´t understand the jokes, he finds people confusingand he can´t tell lies. He likes Maths and “The Hound of theBaskervilles” is his favorite book so he loves Sherlock Holmes, but hedoesn´t like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (the author) because he believedin the supernatural and Christopher thinks that all the things have anscientific explication. He hates yellow and brown and he likes red, so ifhe see five red cars in a row, it will be a super good day. There aresome special features about him.
PLOT:Christopher discovered the dead body ofWellington, the neighbours dog, speared by agarden fork. He was hugging the dog when Mrs.Shears, Wellington´s owner, screamed andshouted that he let go of the dog. She called thepolice and when a policeman touched him,Christopher hit the policeman, so he wasarrested. His father, Ed, had to go to the policestation and he was released with a caution. He decided to investigate the dogs deathdespite his fathers orders to stay out of otherpeoples business. Moreover he started to writea murder mystery novel with his experiences.
Christopher thought that he would go and ask some of the other people who lived inhis street if they had seen anything strange happening in the street the night of themurder, but the neighbours knew nothing. His father told him that he didn´t like Mr.Shears because he was an evil man, so Christopher suspected that he had left Mrs.Shears and he could be guilty. One day, he went to a shop to buy something and Mrs. Alexander, a neighbour, startedto speak with him and finally told him that his mother had a relation with Mr. Shears, which made Mr. Shears leave his wife.
His father found his book and confiscated itfrom Christopher, after a brief fight between them.He looked for his book and finally he found it in abox in his father’s bedroom. He also found severalletters to him from his mother, which were dated aftershe died. Christopher was in shock! When his father foundhim in his bedroom with the letters, he told him thathe wanted to show the letters to him when he wasolder. Ed confessed he told him that his mother haddied of a heart attack because he thought it was betterbut in that moment he was so sorry. His father toldChristopher all the story. When his mother went withRoger, Mrs. Shears was very considerate with themand Ed thought she could live with them, but shedidn´t think in that way, so one day they had anargument and he killed her dog. Christopher, having lost all trust in his father and fearing that Ed may try to kill him since he had already killed the dog, ran away. He considered different possibilities and guided by his mothers address from the letters, he embarked on an adventurous trip to London, because he wanted to live with his mother.
Christopher was scared because he had never gone anywhere alone. His fate was London, but the trip would be an adventure. He stole his father´s credit card and he went to the ralway station. It was the first time he was alone, he feltgiggy and shick so he put his hands over hisears to block out the noise and think. Hehated lots of people so he said to himself:“ I will walk down the tunnel and theremight be somewhere I can sit down an thenI can shut my eyes and I can think”.
When he was in the railway station, a policeman came up to him. He started to ask him many questions: “ What are you doing here? When is your train? Have you got a ticket? Have you got any money to get a ticket?. He helped him at the cashpoint. Then he went to the ticket office and hesaid to the man behind the window “Iwant to go to London”. Then, he went toPlatform 1, he observed what the otherpassengers did… and then he did thesame... He pressed the big button and thedoors slid open and he stepped throughthe doors and he said: “ I was on the train to London”
He had just stopped at London, and he was scared bacause if the train went anywhere else it would be somewhere where he didn´t know anybody. To be calm, he did some more maths puzzles. He remembered that there was amap of the United Kingdlom onthe wall of the classrooms atschool, he pictured it in his headwith his town, Swindom andLondon.
He stopped in the next station. He was completely lost, so Christopher asked at “Information”: -- Is this London? -- YES. He wanted to go to mum´s house, so he asked for her address: -- How do I get to 451c Chapter Road, London NW2 5NG, Willesden?. --You have to take the tube to Willesden Junction. But he didn´t know what the tube was, so she had to explain.
First, he watched many people take a ticket and hememorised what to do. Then he went to themachine and he saw an alphabetical list of places togo and there it was: So he made a plan and it was to go to Willesden Junction on the Bakerloo Line The station was crowded and he felt really frightened . Then, he looked up at the ceiling and he saw: 2 WILLESDEN JUNCTION 4 MIN
The train stopped at Willesden Junction and he walked out of the train. He went up to the man in a little shop and he asked for the direction: Where is 451c Chapter Road, London NW2 5NG?. The man didn´t answer so Christopher picked up a little book “ LONDON AZ Street Atlas and Index Geographers A-Z Map Company”. Christopher had to buy it because the man didn´t let him touch the book. He looked his mum’s address up on amap in the book…
This was the shape of the roads between Willesden Junction and Chapter Road…And this was hisroute…
He started walking and 27 minuteslater, he got to 451c Chapter Road, LondonNW2 5NG, he pressed the button that saidFlat C and there was no one in it, so hedecided to wait for his mother. He sat down on the ground behindthe dustbins in the little garden and suddenlyhe heard voices of people walking along thestreet. One of these voices was a lady´s voiceand it was his MOTHER´s voice. He stood up and he said “Youweren´t in , so I waited for you”. And his mother said :“Christopher”, she put her arms around himand “Christopher, saidChristhoper, Christopher”.
They went inside the house, he followed Mr Shears and walked roundthe flat to make a map of it in his head so he felt safer. The flat waslike that:Then, he went to the bathroom to take a bath; mum came into thebathroom, sat on the toilet and she started to ask him some questionsabout these…
And he answered all the questions:He explained that he had never answered her letters because he didn´t know thatshe was alive. He explained that his father told him that mum was dead.He explained the story of the dog, the book and all this mess.
When he was in the bathroom he heard someone at the door of the flat and there wasa strange man´s voice outside, it was a policeman who wanted to ask him somequestions.Christopher explained that he ran away because father killed Wellington and he wasfrightened of him and Mum added: “My ex-housband told him I was dead”.The policeman said: “If your husband turns up and causes any trouble, just give us a ring”. When he was sleeping he woke up because there were people shouting in the flat, one of the people was father and he was frigtened. They were shouting because his father wanted to see Christopher.
The next morning, Christopher and his mum went to buy somepyjamas and Christopher said to his mum:“I HAVE TO GO BACK TO SWINDON, BECAUSE I HAVE TO DO MY MATHS A LEVEL “She said that the situation was toodifficult and she had many problemswith his father so it was almostimpossible to go back to Swindon. He was concerned about his futureexam.
In the end, Christopher went to the exam andhe passed it, which was the best result he hadever had and it made him feel like this… His parents reached an agreement to see Christopher. He sorted out the situation with his father so all of them were happy.
Christopher thinks “ I am going to pass it an get an A grade. And intwo years´time I am going to take A level Physics and get an Agrade, and when I´ve done that, I am going to university in anothertown and then I will get a First Class Honours Degree and I wilbecome a scientist” .
Because, “ I know I cando this because I wentto London on my own,and because I solvedthe mystery of WhoKilled Wellington? AndI found my mother andI wrote a book and that
