My Observation Of A Private Preschool Development
Private Preschool Development My observation of a private preschool taught me that teaching kids appropriately is essential to a child's
development. Being a teacher is a very important position in society. A preschool teacher has a responsibility to teach young kids to become adults
that will be this society's future. It is important to have proper emotional support within a classroom to develop good relationship between children
and teachers, and create a fun learning experience. Teachers need to understand what is developmentally appropriate to educate their students in a way
that they will flourish cognitively, emotionally, and socially. On October 30th, I had the chance to analyze a KinderCare in Rocklin. In that
observation I learned what a private preschool classrooms quality looks like compared to a public preschools quality. When I walked into the
KinderCare classroom I noticed a contrast to the public school right away. The classroom smelled very bad. According to professor Michelle
Boucher a preschool should be kept smelling very good, because as the children grow up they will always remember the smell of their classroom.
Teachers that exercise positive climate will keep their classroom well attained, both emotionally and spatially. Looking at the atmosphere of the
classroom helps determine the quality of the school. My first impression did not show great quality. As I waked into the class the classroom all the
kids ran up to me. They were very talkative and very interested in me.That made me think that they don't have many visitors. I analyzed that the
teachers are understaffed. The classroom is a one to twelve ratio. The kids simply do not have enough attention for their age. The ratio is compared
to the ratio in Montessori school. Their ideal is one adult per twelve kids, as in the Kindercare I observed. According to my analysis of the public and
private schools, the more teachers the kids get the better it is for the child's successful education. The private school did not have enough teachers to
give proper attention to the children. Some kids didn't even get help when they cried for five minutes straight. I believe that is the school had more
teachers, it would have been more organized

My Personal Philosophy Of Education
Personal Philosophy of Education
After taking the Educational Philosophies Self–Assessment test, I was able to figure out my referencing scores for my ideal logical instructional
principles believed rational of the classification of educational archetypes. The areas of greatest influence in my philosophy of education included
Humanism with a total of 21 points, Perennialism and Existentialism with 18 total points in those areas. Essentialism was second with 16 points and
Reconstructionism record surveyed. The purpose of schooling is to build productive members of society and the philosophy I scored the highest on
reflects the way I see teaching as an entity. Humanism is the theory or belief that learning from the perspective of human potential for growth can shift
of influence cognitive dimensions of education for the student. "Humanists also believe that it is necessary to study the person as a whole, especially
as an individual grows and develops over the lifespan. It follows that the study of the self, motivation, and goals are areas of particular interest"
(Learning Theories, 2016).
My inspiration for being an educator came from the time I've spent in my church; I was predisposed by leading a bible study. I had up to that time
had worked as an assistant with children's pastor and director and been volunteering the year prior. I began to like preparing for a bible study that once
the director left, I effortlessly occupied the position. This was the induction of my

Coaches Are Great Teachers
I have always been told that "coaches make great teachers", I never questioned this statement until I desired to be a teacher. During my hire as an
assistant coach at RCC I also strive to become a teacher. I took up the opportunity to be a guest speaker and teachers aid for a sport psycolohy
class. After every class the teacher commented on how I did, the good and bad. This helped me tremendously. This experience showed me that all
my experience as a coach, as a girls bible study leader, and as a student myself gave me all the tools I needed to be a good teacher. Though this I found
a new love and passion to teach. I carried on this desire to the college I currently work at. Within a month of working there I emailed the business

Evaluation System For Teachers And Student Growth
Our district is constantly changing the way they evaluate teachers. This year, all teachers attended a mandatory PD session on our new evaluation
system. One of the biggest difference for this year, is that we will be using student tests scores as part of our evaluation. Another change will be that
teachers are now going to be picking two student growth objects to focus on, and two professional development growth plans. This current system is
very aligned to what Robert Marzo suggested in his article on the two purposes of teacher evaluation. Our new evaluation system will put teacher
growth and student growth on top of the system. Principals will use the evaluation system to help teachers grow and focus on goals.
Last year, teachers just picked any growth objective because they were required to pick one. I remember asking teachers to help me fill out our
evaluation and they would tell to just pick any objective. This showed me the mindset of some teachers when it comes to teacher evaluations. Just like
most articles and reading we have done in this course, I also remember looking back at my evaluation at the end of the school year during my teacher
evaluation meeting. At that time, I was no longer interested or worried about growth, I was thinking about packing my classroom and preparing for
summer school. This is all my personal experience. What I am interested is, how will our evaluation system change this school year?
We now have a vice principal, and she seems to be a

Paper On Diversity In Education
1. Diversity is a range of different things, forms, types, ideas, races and cultures. Learning diversity would allow me to be great teacher. Teachers
must come to understand the real lived experience of the families and children they teach. Being educated on diversity could help me understand the
different circumstances and characteristics of various students. It would make you more aware of different cultures, and better me for cultures and
beliefs. As I continue out my career when I come in contact with more diverse students I will be more educate and efficient then I was before. To
prepare for diversity you should all ways be opened minded. A great teacher is flexible and prepared for the unexpected.
2. I think testing teachers is a great idea to be sure the teachers are staying efficient. This allows the teacher to know what area he or she needs to
improve in. Change and criticism is a great thing to become a more efficient teacher. Achieving and maintaining a high level of quality in teacher
education and professional development programs should be key elements in any strategy to improve teacher quality. Testing teachers would increase
their qualities such as hold high expectations for themselves and their students. All teachers should be grasp of their skills because in all fairness if you

What Are The Qualities Of A Good Teacher
Every teacher wants to be a good teacher, but what is a good teacher? Who is it? What are the characteristics of a good teacher and how can you
become one? What qualities should a good teacher possess. A good teacher must be knowledgeable in his or her subject of specialisation, passionate,
approachable, good communicator and professional. KNOWLEDGEABLE A good teacher must be knowledgeable. It is important for the teacher to
have strong knowledge in the subject that he or she specialises in so that he or she will be able to teach his or her student. If the teacher has strong
knowledge of the subject he or she teaches, it will help him or her to be able to answer every question that the student can possibly ask thus helping the
student to understand the subject better. (Kennedy 1990) science content (opinions, axioms, facts, etc.). It relates to the "facts" and "principles" of the

Learner Center Values And Ethics Of Leadership
A great leader creates an environment in which teachers feel a sense of empowerment. This means that the leader is able to recognize the different
strengths and weaknesses that each individual staff member has. The leader is then able to provide the teacher with opportunities to better themselves
through staff development or with other empowering trainings. Secondly, a great leader is able to identify when the morale is low within the school.
Low morale can become very toxic in a school if it is not properly addressed. A great leader is able to ensure that all teachers feel that they are valued
and highly respected. It is important that the principal is aware of all past and current procedures that promote professional compliance. TEA Principal
Stand I; Competency 003 states: "Standard I: Learner–Center Values and Ethics of Leadership: A Principal is an educational leader who promotes the
success of all students by acting in an ethical manner. The Principal knows how to: (B) Implement policies and procedures that promote professional
educator compliance with The Code of Ethics and standard Practices for Texas Educators." (TexasEducation Agency2010)
A leader in Texas is one that understands the need for change. I believe that change is something that is always constant in the education system. In
order for change to be successfully implemented the administrators must understand a few things about change. Educational leaders must realize,

What Great Teachers Do Differently Analysis
Initial Summary:
During the first months of school, I noticed my students spend a great deal of time off task, specifically talking out of turn. Students do not always
raise their hands to answer questions, start a conversation with a classmate, or interrupt the lesson to say they do not understand a topic. I often have to
spend several minutes a day asking students to stop talking, reminding students to raise their hand and wait to be called on, and spend a great deal of
time waiting for my students to quiet down and refocus. I have difficulty redirecting these students back to the current task quickly, to avoid losing
large amounts of instructional time and often these small disruptions become increasingly more difficult to handle as ... Show more content on

In the article "PRAISE for Students with Behavioral Challenges," Beth Akerman states there are a plethora of reinforcements a teacher can use, such as
eye contact, detentions or a contingency contract, but "effective teachers employ more positive reinforcements than negative ones." By recognizing the
positives rather than the negatives, students are motivated to receive praise; thus, a safer, more engaging classroom atmosphere resulted. This idea
resonated with other sources as well. In The 12 Touchstones of Good Teaching, Bryan Goodwin and Elisabeth Ross Hubbell explain that often students
causing the disruption are looking for attention, good or bad and reprimanding them gives the attention they strive for. Goodwin and Hubbell continued
"call out students who are displaying appropriate behaviors" to encourage all students to be noticed and get the appropriate attention within the

Analyzing Different Acting Styles of the Great Acting...
Throughout the past semester, we in Acting 2 have studied the different techniques and methods of acting adopted by the great teachers. From
Stanislavsky to Stella Adler, Lee Strasberg to Michael Chekov, we have learned the many different views of what makes a good actor. While
outside class we read about these techniques and took notes on their specifics, in class, we participated in workshops in order to get a true
understanding of their ideals. This way, we could actually see which seemed to work for us and which did not. Different styles seemed to work for
different people, on a purely individual basis. Through these studies and experiments, we were able to understand the differences in the techniques and
the pros and cons of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aside from script analysis, Stanislavsky also suggests using some of your own memories to invoke a desired reaction, but making sure to keep it
separate from the character. He also often used action verbs in order to understand a character's objectives; instead of saying a character is "asking"
in a given scene, it is much more effective to say a character is "prodding" or "penetrating" or even "plunging". These types of words can invoke a
much clearer and real response. In our workshop for Stanislavsky, we focused on a warm–up technique he used that revolved around relaxation.
Relaxation, according to Stanislavsky, is the best way to focus both our minds and bodies so that we are prepared to employ the highest amount of
concentration on a scene. Therefore, for our workshop, after dimming the lights, we all laid on the floor. First, we went through our bodies relaxing
every muscle as we went. I found that I was tense in areas I never even realized. After this, we, led by Anjalee, journeyed on a type of out–of–body
experience as we attempted to both see and hear the world on a large scale, which required great concentration. This concentration was only heightened
due to the relaxation exercises we had just undergone. Personally, I found the relaxation and the concentration techniques very successful, but only for
being relaxing and heightening concentration. I still do not quite see how they truly would help my acting.

A Great Teacher
A Great Teacher– Original Writing
I was 20 yearls old when I was assigned to interview someone whom I admire. By those days I wanted to get a degree as an English teacher, so I
thought it was a great idea to interview one of my high school teachers. I decided to interview the most taugh and admirable teacher I have ever had:
Mr. Stucchi.
Surrounded by a circle of students, Mr. Stucchi answered questions, gave instructions, and explained assignments. I slowly approached the circle and
stood close to him. Three years ago, I was a high school student. Now I am a college student. I peered over the chattering students and slipped into the
circle. Old high school memories came to my mind. A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Still reminiscing, I took a seat at the back of the classroom while Mr. Stucchi took roll from a seating chart. Meanwhile, the class started with a
"Daily Oral Language" exercise. The exercise asked students to correct two sentences with grammatical errors. Finished with roll, Mr. Stucchi read the
correct answer and then asked the class for alternative responses. Students responded eagerly and were praised for their efforts, whether their answers
correct or incorrect. Maybe things had not changed that much. I sat back and relaxed. I was not prepared for what happened next.
"Please clear your desks," asked Mr. Stucchi, "and I will pass out your weekly test." Muffled groans, shuffling papers, and tapping pencils filled the
room. Mr. Stucchi passed out the tests and made sure that I got one, too. I looked at the
questions and could not believe what I read. The supposed test had questions like "What book must you bring on Wednesday every week?" and
"Describe what happens to a student who has just received his/her fourth tardy." Was this a test on school policies or English? I look around the
classroom, searching for any clue that would indicate that this was not typical. Instead, I saw students very concentrated working on their tests. I
wondered if this was normal. I worried.
As 2:10 p.m. approached, Mr. Stucchi collected the tests and reminded his students that they

Personal Statement : Elementary School
In elementary school whilst my peers were playing dress up and feeding tea to their stuffed animals, my imaginary play entailed lining up all my
animals in neatly constructed rows so that they would be prepared for my class. Although the teacher–student play was natural and fun, it was not
evident to me at that time that I was destined to become a teacher.
"It was time for Ms. Bibi's class and I dare you be late Mr. Rhino."
In high school, I was a self–declared teacher 's assistant. I undertook the responsibility of grading many tests and completing attendance reports. This
behavior persisted through college where I successfully set up supplemental classes in the library to help re–explain concepts taught during the day 's
lecture to fellow classmates. After my volunteer work was discovered, I was offered a job in the math–tutoring lab as a supplemental instructor under a
Title V grant. Many of my "clients," when noticing an increase in grades and understanding, always exclaimed how great of a teacher I was. They
always said "you would make a good teacher one day".
Reflecting back to my youngest memories I recall always being called a good teacher. However, during my elementary days I was called a good
teacher's helper rather than teacher. As an adult and, as fate would have it, a "teacher," I endeavored to understand what the phrase "Good Teacher"
meant. What was it that these observant individuals saw in me that made them declare that I was and would be

Characteristics Of A Great Teacher
What Makes A Great Teacher
A world without education is a world without knowledge. Teachers play a significant role in educating the uneducated because it is a rewarding
profession. However, it can only be done if there is dedication, passion, and determination. These are the key factors that separate a great teacher from a
"mediocre" teacher. A "mediocre" teacher enjoys his or her work and is satisfied with their work. Meanwhile a great teacher is constantly adding and
changing their teaching methods to accommodate the needs of each student. One of the articles that we have read over the course of this semester,
states, "...Great teachers, he concluded, constantly reevaluate what they are doing" (Amanda and Ripley). When I was doing my research a common
theme that came up was the fact that teacher need to constantly evaluate their teaching methods. It is crucial for teachers to constantly reevaluate their
methods and to accommodate the new changes that are constantly occurring in the world. For example as technology advances teachers need to have
the skills to add technology into their teaching methods.
QUALITIES OF A GOOD TEACHER
Along with my scholarly research articles, I had the opportunity to interview two of my former high school teachers Mike Kelly, and Alison Alvarez.
Through the interviews, I was able to understand what it is like to be a teacher from their point of view and I was able to learn the qualities that
makes a successful teacher. Mrs. Alvarez, said the

Continuing Professional Development
Encouraging professional development for new and veteran teachers is very important for multiple reasons. Often times, new teachers still need time
to become better acquainted with teaching in the classroom. On the opposite side, veteran teachers need to know what is current in education that can
be implemented in their classroom. Professional development programs like mentorships, professional development plans, and continued
development are important programs to have in place for teachers. For these programs to be successful and provide the support and development that
a teacher needs, they have to be quality programs. Just as students and children have different ways that they learn, so do teachers and adults.
Programs that will provide the development in teachers that is vital for their teaching will take this into consideration. Mentorships can be great for
both new teachers and veteran teachers because each can learn from one another. New teachers should be paired with good veteran teachers so that
they have a chance to really learn. These have to be caring, dedicated, organized, and successful teachers for the new teachers to really learn from
them. Through these pairings, new teachers will find comfort while they struggle at times in knowing that they are not alone. They will also gain great
wisdom from those who have been in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is also a great way to collaborate with others and overcome challenges while working within a supportive environment. A professional
development plan can be a career–long plan that, as a teacher or administrator, will be a constant place for teachers to ensure they are going along the

Jainism Is The Last Of The Great Teachers
Jainism is an India religion with most of it 's more than four million followers residing there. It was founded by Mahavira, who lived from 599 to
527 BCE. Mahavira was born into the kshatriya class of rulers and warriors. At the age of thirty he renounced the privileges this class afforded him to
live an ascetic life. Reaching enlightenment only fourteen years later, Mahavira became a Vardhamana gaining followers until thirty years later when
he starved himself to death. Mahavira is called the last of the great teachers. Jainism arose during the 6th century BCE. There were twenty–four great
religious leaders called Tirthankaras including Mahavira (the 24th). Tirthankaras were all enlightened humans whose teachings and stories point the
way for others. Like Hinduism and Buddhism Jainism is focused on separating from a physical form and escaping from reincarnation (The unhappy
passage of the soul from one body to another). They believe they can do this through physical denial and mental self–discipline, when they reach
enlightenment through these means they are liberated. However Jainism did oppose Hindu priestly groups who emphasized salvation by sacrifices
they controlled. Another difference between Jainism, Hinduism and Buddhism is, even though they use a lot of the same words and imagery, the Jains
have put many of them into a different context. Some of the main symbols and meanings of those symbols for Jainism include the shape of human

Throughout the school year, they have a handful of nights where the parents can bring the student and socialize and get to know others. Parents are
always welcome to volunteer and help out during the day in the classroom. While these are great ways to include parents in their child's education,
Joyce Epstein of Johns Hopkins University mentions 6 levels of involvement. The first level is parenting, teachers should help establish a home
environment that supports learning for the child. Secondly, communicating from school–to–home and home–to–school. Some different ways to do this
are phone calls, newsletters, and emails. The next level is volunteering. Teachers should not only promote but ask for family support in and out of the
classroom. Learning at home is the fourth level of parent involvement. Teachers should include information about what their child is learning and how
they can help with the child's reading and homework and what needs to be improved. Fifthly, teachers should include parents in school decisions and
create family organizations such as PTA. Lastly, teachers should collaborate with the community and provide information about community health,
cultural, social support, and other programs or services. (Weissman and Hendrick 49–50). By communicating about community cultural services, I
believe that it shows that a teacher shows interest in the familys' culture. Establishing a good relationship

An Informal Reading Inventory Is A Great Tool For Teachers
An Informal Reading Inventory is a great tool for teachers to use with their students to assess multiple concepts. One purpose of the IRI is to monitor
the growth of a student's word recognition, oral reading, and comprehension to determine the reading level of independent, instructional, and
frustration. The frustration level is when the passage is too hard for the student even with help from the teacher. The instructional reading level is when
a student can read the text with the assistance from a teacher, parent, or peer. Independent means that the student can read the passage alone with no
outside assistance. When teachers administer these tests they can pick the level of the passage given and use the results to help decide how to further
instruct the student. Later on, test the student on the same level to measure the growth of the student.
The assessment is given by having a student answer concept questions about a passage before reading. When administering the assessment, tell the
student his/her answers will be recorded to elevate stress on the student. Next, the student will use context clues to draw predictions following with
reading the passage orally with no support from the teacher. Students are advised before reading to try to sound out words or move on from the word.
As the student reads, the teacher counts all of the miscues the student had. Miscues consist of omission of words or phrases, reversal of words,
self–correction, insertion of words into the text,

Train Teachers Like Doctors: Article Analysis
believe that everyone is entitled to have quality education. I am someone who is very passionate about working with children. To know that there is
shortage of teachers is hurtful. Teachers should be at the top of the chain as the best job to have. However, I am even more hurt that this article talks

One thing that I did not like that the article stated was that "State legislature and school districts have responded with shortsighted polices that lower the

Education is one of the most important professions in the working world. Technology has done many things for us in today's society especially for
education and schools. Technology in the school system has impacted the students and teachers in many positive ways, including virtual field trips,
testing tips, teacher resources, class web sites, and lesson plans. With computer use in our schools, we have access to many different sources and

On the Internet teachers have set plans or guidelines for other teachers to look at and get ideas on what to do for their classroom. I think this is a
great idea for teachers to use especially for new and young teachers to get some great ideas. By using this tool, teachers could hopefully get better and
new ideas on how to teach certain subjects or try new things with the students. Teachers can get hints on how they can give tests, or how to help the
students become better test takers on the Internet. The web site http//www.schoolnotes.com showed many different ways teachers could help the
students. The site gives teachers ideas on the best ways to give oral test, true and false tests, by giving the teacher instructions on how to successfully
present the material. Class Webs are another way teachers and students can get involved with the Internet and technology; students can help their
teachers create a web page for their class. Many teachers use the Internet to find Resources for the classroom. They can find many things for the class
to do on the Internet like games and projects.
I have talked to a couple of teachers when I worked for an elementary school in high school during my Junior and Senior year. I asked the teachers
whom I worked with what they thought of using the computers in schools. They said it is a nice thing to have in school for the students. The teachers

The Ron Clark Story
"The Ron Clark Story" is such an inspirational movie in my opinion. I feel that this movie shows what dedication in teaching is all about. It shows
that teachers care and have chosen their career in order to make a difference. Ron Clark was an outstanding teacher who was said to be able to raise
test scores in any school he taught at. However, instead of choosing a simple, private school that already has high test scores, he chose to teach in
an area where students were really struggling. He chose to help those that really needed it. The Ron Clark Story, in my opinion, is all about how
much of a difference teachers can really make. I believe that teaching excellence comes from two different things, dedication and the desire to help
others. Teachers who are dedicated to their students and classrooms are definitely going to be excellent and never give up at what they do. Teachers
who have a great desire to help their students and their career will continue to do everything they can to make sure their students receive what is
needed. The two characteristics that make an excellent teacher are dedication and the desire to help others. I believe dedication is important when
teaching because if a teacher is not dedicated to his or her classroom, then how will their students learn? If a teacher is dedicated to the class, then I
believe that they will excel at making sure their students are receiving a tremendous education. Dedication is all about never giving up and devoting a
large amount of effort to whatever is being done. If teachers never give up on their students and devote their greatest effort in helping their students
succeed, then I believe they will excel at teaching. I also believe that an important part to be an excellent teacher is the desire to help others. If a
teacher did not have the want to help others, then obviously, it would be difficult for them to help students succeed. Students need help, it should be a
teacher's number one priority to help their students. Some may not ask for help and some may need more help than others, however, teachers who get
angry or annoyed with students when help is asked of them, will not be successful. Therefore, desire to help others is very important when

Turner about B.B. I also think that there were negative consequences with her conflict resolution meetings. Though there were consequences and
weaknesses in her teaching I think there were also positive points. Her teaching also related to Robert Powell's principle of teaching. Through all the
good, negative consequences and weaknesses we can really see that Esme was a great teacher. B.B was a student who was disrespectful and was
threatening to other classmates. Esme went to Mr. Turner and told him about B.B's behavior in the classroom. I think that she did the right thing in
going to Mr. Turner however it had negative consequences. B.B was suspended and he wasn't being taught and that has an effect on his learning.
When he came back to school his mother came with him. She started hitting him right in the hall because of his gang involvement and acting out at
school. I think that this also ties into the weaknesses that Esme has. She is so overly caring and it sometimes can be seen when she really sees what
her student go through. I think this can be seen when she wrote "Ozzie's mom says Ozzie cries for me at night, wanting to talk to me, that he feels
alone in the world. Everyone is so

The Importance Of Effective Teaching Strategies
The benefits to students and teachers of using effective teaching strategies are numerous and include student teacher bonding, high student learning,
and less teacher burn stress. Four articles have been reviewed, here, that span twenty years time. Issues of concern twenty years ago are still an issue
facing teachers and administrators today. McLaughlin and Talbert (1993) indicated there was a need to reform content twenty years ago. Fear and the
inability of students to recognize teacher feedback as helpful are stumbling blocks students face every day (Black & William, 1998). "...Assessment is
often viewed as something in competition with teaching, rather than as an integral part of teaching and learning" according to Heritage's (2007, p. 140)
Phi Delta Kappan article. These roadblocks have become paving stones for new teachers today. Observation assessments completed, show Professional
Development has a positive correlation to students learning an teacher effectiveness (Allen, Gregory, Mikami, Lun, Hamre, & Pianta, 2013). Change,
transition, new experiences, and uncertainty encompass a secondary students life as they are in growing emotionally and educationally. Teachers play
a vital role in an adolescence's life at this time. The teacher can be a source of safety and familiarity. The teacher will set the classroom environment in
an optimal way to ensure students feel welcome, safe, listened to, respected, and able to succeed. This is the foundation upon which the teacher

Great Teachers Who Positively Infuence Students to Become...
In a red beanie chair beside Mrs. Barnes desk in the back of the room I sat with my knees pulled up to my chest and Charlotte's Web balanced on top.
As I read I became a girl determined to save a baby pig, a spider with an incredible web, and a lonely pig. I traveled through the story as if it was my
life I was reading about. Books take me on a journey to unimaginable worlds where I can be a damsel in distress, or a circus freak, I can ride a
flying pig or stand beside Martin Luther King Jr. as he makes his speeches. Early, on I had teachers who encouraged me to find books that I enjoyed
and that could transport me but there are very few teachers who encourage their kids to read and enjoy it. Most teacher assign books that will match the

Many times when we are given the choice to read or not we will pick the latter because we know that no matter what nothing the teacher can say
will get us excited for the assignment. Teachers need to also realize that they are the reason for our animosity towards reading. When a teacher
assigns a book they are usually very sullen about the idea of the assignment. By having this expression the teacher is setting the mood for the
reading and discouraging us from reading. When I was sitting in my freshman English class my teacher got out her large teacher's addition of the
textbook flipped to Romeo and Juliet and stated in a monotone voice for us to get out our books and read silently to ourselves. As a result the story
of Romeo and Juliet agitates and bores me. The impression my teacher had for the story was impressed upon me an aversion to it. When giving a
reading assignment teacher should be excited and enthusiastic about reading, so that to impress upon the us an impression of enjoyment for the
reading. We should feel the same enthusiasm as Malcolm X did when he states, "The best thing I could do was get hold of a dictionary–to study, or to
learn some words."(Malcolm X, 354) As we do when they pick up a book but, without time to read it is hard for us to enjoy it. Teachers should help
to encourage us to feel excited by making time in class for us to

Public Schools vs. Private Schools Essay
Public Schools vs. Private Schools
A good education is an essential part of a child's development. Today, parents have a choice in their child's education and can evaluate both public
and private schools. Although both public and private schools provide education and opportunities for students, parents should evaluate the
differences and choose the option that best suits their child and families' needs. In this paper, I will compare and contrast five major areas that relate
to public and private schools including class size, cost, curriculum, services, and teachers. One of the first major differences between public and
private schools is class size. Public schools follow state and federal guidelines in regard to class size. Most ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another difference among public and private schools is the curriculum. Public schools must follow the curriculum that is outlined by the state. The
state outlines a curriculum for each subject at each grade level (Great Schools Staff, n.d.). The state also mandates the assessments for each grade level
(Great Schools Staff, n.d.). The curriculums are similar among different states in the hope that if a students moves mid year, they will remain on track
for their new school. Private schools have the ability to set their own curriculum. Private schools might advertise specialized curriculums in order to
entice students (Great Schools Staff, n.d.). For example, private schools that are religiously affiliated will have religious based classes in addition to
their basic curriculum. This is something that parents need to consider too. Also, private schools determine their own assessments and do not have to
participate in standardized testing. Special education services are another difference between private and public schools. Public schools follow state and
federal guidelines and therefore must follow the special education laws (Great Schools Staff, n.d.). All students can attend public school and

Becoming A Preschool Teacher
The idea of becoming a preschool teacher has always been something I would want to accomplish, but I've never wanted to become a preschool
teacher as much as I do now. When I took the ВЁMyers Briggs quiz,ВЁ It gave me a lot of career choices that were ВЁindicatedВЁ for me, but
when I saw that it said preschool teacher, I knew then, that it was the right thing for me. Throughout my life, I have had many chances to ВЁbe a
preschool teacher.ВЁ When my sister was younger, I would help her get prepared for preschool, and I've even went to a tutoring center to help kids
with their homework. Those opportunities have led me to want to become a preschool teacher more than anything else! Becoming a preschool
teacher, does have its necessities, like you have to be a good person with little kids, and know how to make learning fun. I know, I am capable of
teaching the basics of school, and helping preschoolers learn, therefore I strongly believe that this is the adequate career for me. What does a
preschool teacher do? The basic idea of a preschool teacher, is to introduce the kids to school and teach the basics (ABCВґs 123's etc.) Preschool
teachers, should help develop good habits and help build daily life schedules for the students (snack time, nap time, manners etc.) But to make the
learning easier for the students, it has to be taught in a creative way. For instance, ВЁYoung children learn from playing, problem solving, questioning,
and experimenting. Preschool teachers use play and

A Good Teacher Essay
Who is a teacher and what makes a good teacher? By definition, a teacher is a person who teaches, especially in school, but can anyone be a
teacher? That is a matter of the possession of qualification and the overall talent utilized whilst on the workforce. Having such qualification simply
doesn't create a good teacher, though. Becoming a good teacher requires work, effort and time that one must be willing to sacrifice from their daily
lives. A good teacher must be able to teach the students clearly. He/she must be well prepared, whether it is regarding the lesson of the day or any
sudden questions the pupil may ask. A good teacher should have confidence with themselves and be organized at all times. A good teacher respects his
/her job and tries to be as effective as possible.
But from being a good teacher, there is one higher form of teachers' ranking and that is being a great and effective teacher. Being a good teacher is
easy, but being a great teacher requires more effort than what is usually expected and required. With being a great teacher, teaching is not a job, but a...

should creativity be looked upon as if opposed to intelligence? Creativity is one of the qualities of intelligence; same way as analytical intelligence and

Supply Chain Case Study: Tim Hortons
1.When I was eating at Tim Hortons today, I noticed that there were boxes stacked on top of each other next to the vending machines under the
staircase. The boxes are all branded with the Tim Hortons logo so I assume that they all belonged to Tim Hortons. None of the boxes were opened,
but I could easily guess the contents inside just by looking at the pictures found on the outside of each box (spoons, napkins, chocolate milks,
etc...). 2.In any restaurant or cafГ© shop, the supply or food pantry room is almost always located inside, near the kitchen area. If that is the case,
then why are the supply boxes lying out in the open (Student Union) and not inside of Tim Horton's supply pantry? 3.a. The boxes do not seemed to
be open yet (sealed with tape) so it is possible that they are new and the contents are still inside. b. There was a moving dolly/cart rested against the
wall to the left of the boxes. c. A locked door was located between the boxes and the vending machines. d. A man dressed in uniform is

Based on the observations above, it is likely that Tim Hortons has two pantry rooms. One pantry room is located inside the shop and the other is
located near the vending machines. The boxes located outside of Tim Hortons "Employees ONLY" door might contain perishable food items (cooking
ingredients) that must be placed in the pantry room located inside the shop. The boxes located near the vending machines contain non–perishable items
(eating utensils) and therefore, do not need to be placed in the pantry room inside the shop. The presence of a moving dolly/cart indicates that it was
recently used to transfer boxes from one place to another (truck > pantry room #1 > pantry room #2). The locked door found in between the boxes and
the vending machines has a high possibility of being an entrance to the second pantry room. A man in uniform could be an employee that was assigned
to relocate the boxes near the vending machines to the second pantry

The Great Depression In The Novel 'Why Shoot The Teacher'
Burdensome damages introduced by WWI caused major stagnation in the Canadian economy, generating economic chaos in the Great Depression. The
Great Depression took place during 1929– 1939, also known as the western industrializations longest–lasting economic downturn. Although many
countries went through the depression, some suffered greater than others such as Canada. As the stock markets in Wall Street had a major crash in
1929 the depression really began to hit. During 1921–1930 the liberal government was in charge therefore society had the most control over the
economic market. The government believed if they let society "run its course" it would soon fall back into place and regain economic prosperity. The
conservative government was then elected in 1930. The prime minister, Robert Bemment tried many traditional methods to fix the economy, resulting
to worse conditions. The free market approach could not restore economic prosperity on its own after several years of effort. "Why shoot the teacher"
is a novel plotted from a rural area in Saskatchewan during the Dirty Thirties. In the novel "Why shoot the Teacher" there are accurate representations
of issues reflecting the 1930's. It was common to get paid a low income if you were fortunate enough to maintain a job. The protagonist Max Brown
has an extreme deficiency of income because of the harsh conditions during The Great Depression. Difficulty in being able to support family caused

The Importance Of A Great Teacher
What makes a great teacher, is a simple question, that might seem to have an obvious answer, however, the answers may not be so simple. When I
asked my former teachers "What Makes A Great Teacher," my geometry teacher responded with: patience, determination, passion, confidences, self
discipline, and organizational skills. These are qualities that when combined equal a great mentor. It is self explanatory as to why a teacher would
need to have skills such as patience and organizational skills. Most of the research discussed being organized and patient but the qualities of
confidence and self discipline were not mentioned. When I interview my teacher I was stunned by her answers of confidence and self discipline,
since her answer was unique. She is correct in the sense that to become a successful teacher it is important to be grounded and confident. Similarly, I
asked my former english teacher the same question and he responded with qualities of patience, having a sense of humor, and a strong work ethic. He
began to explain why he believed each of these qualities were important to making a teacher thrive. He spoke about how it is inevitable to have students
who will complain, and underestimate their teachers qualifications. Throughout a teacher's career, there will mostly likely be students who tend to
argue, with their teachers, students who feel as if they are always right, this is when patience plays a huge role. In order for teacher to connect with
their students it

put their variety of skill sets, abilities to accurately self reflect, and adaptability in order to become effective teachers. Whitaker emphasizes the
importance of teachers who know how they come across to people, how others receive their behavior, and the ways in which they are able to reflect
on their self–awareness as one of the key components between "good" verses great teachers. I believe a teachers ability to both self reflect, correct, and

Never Say Anything A Kid Can Say Summary
The article, "Never Say Anything a Kid Can Say," by Steven Reinhart, was a very great read and a great article on teaching mathematics in the
classroom. The article is about the different teaching techniques that help encourage children in the classroom continuously think about and participate
in what they are being taught. I personally enjoyed the article because the techniques that are shared in the article allow the children to experience real
life; the children are questioned, allowed struggle, and they are taught they must learn and take responsibility; therefore, this article would be a great
addition to the classroom. Steven Reinhart, the author of the article, "Never Say Anything a Kid Can Say," held a very strong position of basically...

There are five steps to his plan. The first is "Never say anything a kid can say" (Reinhart, 2000, p. 480)! This step helps to keep their mind going.
Instead of telling the students what the answers are for what is being gone over, the teacher asks the questions to the assignment. The second one is
"ask good questions" (Reinhart, 2000, p. 480). This one requires them to really think and reflect on what they are learning. It tends to be more complex.
The third part of the plan is "use more process questions than product questions" (Reinhart, 2000, p. 480). This part of the plan requires the children
to answer more detailed questions and not just yes and no questions. The fourth is to "replace lectures with set of questions" (Reinhart, 2000, p. 480).
Asking questions instead of just doing a lecture keeps them alert, focused, and in tune with what you are teaching and they are more likely to
participate. The last step is probably the most important and that is to "be patient. Wait time is very important" (Reinhart, 2000, p. 480). This step
gives children that are not quick to raising their hand or that know the answer to get it and to be called on. This way you are not calling on the same

Teaching Came From Someone Else
Many people say teachers teach differently in their classroom. Many teachers follow a guideline for teaching children, but many of the students
don't learn as fast as others. Children don't always raise their hands when they have a question or when they don't understand and that's not always a
good idea. They have to be able to open up to the teacher, and the teacher has to open up to all of the students in the classroom. By opening up the
teacher will be able to see what the child is having a problem with and can try different strategies to help them. Being an effective teacher helps
children in a classroom to learn, be active, and show confidence in their work. The history of teaching can be said by many different people. Some think

The teacher improves the children 's learning skills, communication skills and so much more. Many children learn from supportive techniques and
additional resources in the classroom. If any child in the classroom is struggling they can put them in an inclusion classroom where the teachers try
and meet the needs of the children. By having an inclusion classroom will help any kind of student with special needs or a child that has a problem
learning. The inclusion classroom is another great way for the children to get more one on one time with their teacher, because they will understand the
work better than they did before. This can be a great way for children that need that private education get what they need to move on to the next grade
with the same knowledge the other children have. (Peg Rosen) Many teachers have a hard time keeping up with teaching children and trying to keep
them focused at all times in the classroom. Participation helps the students stay focused, get them to think, and to get them motivated in the classroom.
Teachers likes getting feedback from the students so they know that they are listening and they are answering the questions the teacher asked them. The
teacher likes how the children communicate with each other to find out the answer. That improves their speaking skills, and they are trying to do the
work the teacher wanted them to do.By improving their speaking

Jesus Is A Great Teacher, Leader, My Savior
Belief Statement
I believe that Jesus is a great teacher, leader and ultimately my Savior. A great teacher has many characteristics such as patience, kindness, is
understanding, and uses different techniques to help his/her students understand what is being taught and how to apply it to their life. Jesus does this
better than anyone I know. A good leader knows how to listen and lead a group in an effective way in addition to knowing when to follow is key to
success. Jesus did this in his ministry as well. Lastly and most important, I believe that Jesus is my savior. I believe that God created this universe and
everything in it. He created everything exactly how he intended it for us, but we distorted and separated ourselves from God when Adam and Eve
sinned. My sin separates me from God, but God wants a personal relationship with me. He sent himself incarnate in humble human form. This form
was Jesus, he full God and full man. He was humbled in that form to live the perfect like I cannot to bridge that gap I created. My sin sentenced me
to hell, but Jesus' life, death, and resurrection defeated the eternal death I deserve and Satan himself. I believe in Christ alone, not by my works, gives
me new life. I am a new creation trough him, he saved me from my punishment.
Practice Statement
I am a called child of God to share the gospel. God has worked through many experiences, different people over time, and has given me certain gifts
that has led me to becoming a Christian

Great Teacher Question: Beyond Competencies By Edward R....
Effective teachers know what to implement in a lesson, when to implement it, and how to successfully. These skills are due to the four different
modes of thinking. According to Lana M. Danielson, there are levels of thinking: the higher the level, the more complex thinking needed for the
situation at hand. It varies from the most complicated: dialectical to the easiest: technological. I believe it is crucial to know when to use which
method so time will not be wasted. It is not necessary to consult another teacher when it comes to sending the attendance folder to the main office
(technological thinking), but it would be helpful getting others' assistance if a problem as severe as bullying, needs to be addressed appropriately
(dialectical thinking) since the issue is more complex, more resources, collaboration, and thought needs to go into resolving it.... Show more content on

the importance of ideas joined with actions. This particular statement stands out to me because in personal experiences, I know I learned more out of

Schools are educational institutions where students are engaged, teachers are nurturing and offer rigorous lessons, and school administrators are
educational leaders where they can help create inclusive environments. In some school settings, school administrators stay in their offices and teachers
close their doors and become their own islands. Providentially, those old practices are changing, whereas classroom walkthroughs and observations are
becoming popular with school administrators. Classroom walkthroughs are an effective way to observe what is going on in the Bonnie Springer School
classrooms. Walkthroughs provides teachers with an opportunity to see the great things their teachers and students are doing together. Walkthroughs

Elementary School Ranges From Kindergarten
3.Cumberland Elementary School ranges from kindergarten to third grade. The principal of Cumberland is Kimberly Bowers. Mrs. Bowers has
many years of experience as both a teacher and as a principal. Of the teachers at Cumberland, a majority of them have at least six to ten years of
experience teaching. All of the teachers are Caucasian. The school focuses mainly of literature and mathematics. This means that these two subjects are
integrated the others frequently. This method can be very beneficial to the students and help them to make connections. There are eight classes for
every grade. Cumberland was rated the number one school in Indiana. They were also rated as a four–star school. All of these facts lead me to believe
that this is a school with very high standards for their students and teachers. Knowing this as an educator means that I will have to work hard to help
the students and the school continue to succeed. Cumberland Elementary is a very diverse school. The current enrolment of the school is 673 students
according to Compass. The students range from thirty–one different countries and include seventeen different languages. Only about half of the
students are Caucasian and the rest are of different ethnicities. The second largest race in the school is Asian. As a teacher, this diversity means that I
will have to make accommodations for students who do not speak English as a first language. This can also give me opportunities to discuss the

My Observation Of A Private Preschool Development

  • 1. My Observation Of A Private Preschool Development Private Preschool Development My observation of a private preschool taught me that teaching kids appropriately is essential to a child's development. Being a teacher is a very important position in society. A preschool teacher has a responsibility to teach young kids to become adults that will be this society's future. It is important to have proper emotional support within a classroom to develop good relationship between children and teachers, and create a fun learning experience. Teachers need to understand what is developmentally appropriate to educate their students in a way that they will flourish cognitively, emotionally, and socially. On October 30th, I had the chance to analyze a KinderCare in Rocklin. In that observation I learned what a private preschool classrooms quality looks like compared to a public preschools quality. When I walked into the KinderCare classroom I noticed a contrast to the public school right away. The classroom smelled very bad. According to professor Michelle Boucher a preschool should be kept smelling very good, because as the children grow up they will always remember the smell of their classroom. Teachers that exercise positive climate will keep their classroom well attained, both emotionally and spatially. Looking at the atmosphere of the classroom helps determine the quality of the school. My first impression did not show great quality. As I waked into the class the classroom all the kids ran up to me. They were very talkative and very interested in me.That made me think that they don't have many visitors. I analyzed that the teachers are understaffed. The classroom is a one to twelve ratio. The kids simply do not have enough attention for their age. The ratio is compared to the ratio in Montessori school. Their ideal is one adult per twelve kids, as in the Kindercare I observed. According to my analysis of the public and private schools, the more teachers the kids get the better it is for the child's successful education. The private school did not have enough teachers to give proper attention to the children. Some kids didn't even get help when they cried for five minutes straight. I believe that is the school had more teachers, it would have been more organized ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During my hire as an assistant coach at RCC I also strive to become a teacher. I took up the opportunity to be a guest speaker and teachers aid for a sport psycolohy class. After every class the teacher commented on how I did, the good and bad. This helped me tremendously. • 5. Evaluation System For Teachers And Student Growth Our district is constantly changing the way they evaluate teachers. This year, all teachers attended a mandatory PD session on our new evaluation system. One of the biggest difference for this year, is that we will be using student tests scores as part of our evaluation. Another change will be that teachers are now going to be picking two student growth objects to focus on, and two professional development growth plans. This current system is very aligned to what Robert Marzo suggested in his article on the two purposes of teacher evaluation. Our new evaluation system will put teacher growth and student growth on top of the system. Principals will use the evaluation system to help teachers grow and focus on goals. Last year, teachers just picked any growth objective because they were required to pick one. I remember asking teachers to help me fill out our evaluation and they would tell to just pick any objective. This showed me the mindset of some teachers when it comes to teacher evaluations. Just like most articles and reading we have done in this course, I also remember looking back at my evaluation at the end of the school year during my teacher evaluation meeting. At that time, I was no longer interested or worried about growth, I was thinking about packing my classroom and preparing for summer school. This is all my personal experience. What I am interested is, how will our evaluation system change this school year? We now have a vice principal, and she seems to be a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Teachers must come to understand the real lived experience of the families and children they teach. Being educated on diversity could help me understand the different circumstances and characteristics of various students. It would make you more aware of different cultures, and better me for cultures and beliefs. As I continue out my career when I come in contact with more diverse students I will be more educate and efficient then I was before. To prepare for diversity you should all ways be opened minded. A great teacher is flexible and prepared for the unexpected. 2. I think testing teachers is a great idea to be sure the teachers are staying efficient. This allows the teacher to know what area he or she needs to improve in. Change and criticism is a great thing to become a more efficient teacher. Achieving and maintaining a high level of quality in teacher education and professional development programs should be key elements in any strategy to improve teacher quality. • 8. Learner Center Values And Ethics Of Leadership A great leader creates an environment in which teachers feel a sense of empowerment. This means that the leader is able to recognize the different strengths and weaknesses that each individual staff member has. The leader is then able to provide the teacher with opportunities to better themselves through staff development or with other empowering trainings. Secondly, a great leader is able to identify when the morale is low within the school. Low morale can become very toxic in a school if it is not properly addressed. A great leader is able to ensure that all teachers feel that they are valued and highly respected. It is important that the principal is aware of all past and current procedures that promote professional compliance. TEA Principal Stand I; Competency 003 states: "Standard I: Learner–Center Values and Ethics of Leadership: A Principal is an educational leader who promotes the success of all students by acting in an ethical manner. The Principal knows how to: (B) Implement policies and procedures that promote professional educator compliance with The Code of Ethics and standard Practices for Texas Educators." (TexasEducation Agency2010) A leader in Texas is one that understands the need for change. I believe that change is something that is always constant in the education system. • 9. What Great Teachers Do Differently Analysis Initial Summary: During the first months of school, I noticed my students spend a great deal of time off task, specifically talking out of turn. Students do not always raise their hands to answer questions, start a conversation with a classmate, or interrupt the lesson to say they do not understand a topic. I often have to spend several minutes a day asking students to stop talking, reminding students to raise their hand and wait to be called on, and spend a great deal of time waiting for my students to quiet down and refocus. I have difficulty redirecting these students back to the current task quickly, to avoid losing large amounts of instructional time and often these small disruptions become increasingly more difficult to handle as ... In the article "PRAISE for Students with Behavioral Challenges," Beth Akerman states there are a plethora of reinforcements a teacher can use, such as eye contact, detentions or a contingency contract, but "effective teachers employ more positive reinforcements than negative ones." By recognizing the positives rather than the negatives, students are motivated to receive praise; thus, a safer, more engaging classroom atmosphere resulted. This idea resonated with other sources as well. In The 12 Touchstones of Good Teaching, Bryan Goodwin and Elisabeth Ross Hubbell explain that often students causing the disruption are looking for attention, good or bad and reprimanding them gives the attention they strive for. • 10. Analyzing Different Acting Styles of the Great Acting... Throughout the past semester, we in Acting 2 have studied the different techniques and methods of acting adopted by the great teachers. From Stanislavsky to Stella Adler, Lee Strasberg to Michael Chekov, we have learned the many different views of what makes a good actor. While outside class we read about these techniques and took notes on their specifics, in class, we participated in workshops in order to get a true understanding of their ideals. This way, we could actually see which seemed to work for us and which did not. Different styles seemed to work for different people, on a purely individual basis. Through these studies and experiments, we were able to understand the differences in the techniques and the pros and cons of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Aside from script analysis, Stanislavsky also suggests using some of your own memories to invoke a desired reaction, but making sure to keep it separate from the character. He also often used action verbs in order to understand a character's objectives; instead of saying a character is "asking" in a given scene, it is much more effective to say a character is "prodding" or "penetrating" or even "plunging". These types of words can invoke a much clearer and real response. In our workshop for Stanislavsky, we focused on a warm–up technique he used that revolved around relaxation. Relaxation, according to Stanislavsky, is the best way to focus both our minds and bodies so that we are prepared to employ the highest amount of concentration on a scene. Therefore, for our workshop, after dimming the lights, we all laid on the floor. First, we went through our bodies relaxing every muscle as we went. I found that I was tense in areas I never even realized. After this, we, led by Anjalee, journeyed on a type of out–of–body experience as we attempted to both see and hear the world on a large scale, which required great concentration. This concentration was only heightened due to the relaxation exercises we had just undergone. Personally, I found the relaxation and the concentration techniques very successful, but only for being relaxing and heightening concentration. I still do not quite see how they truly would help my acting. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By those days I wanted to get a degree as an English teacher, so I thought it was a great idea to interview one of my high school teachers. I decided to interview the most taugh and admirable teacher I have ever had: Mr. Stucchi. Surrounded by a circle of students, Mr. Stucchi answered questions, gave instructions, and explained assignments. I slowly approached the circle and stood close to him. Three years ago, I was a high school student. Now I am a college student. I peered over the chattering students and slipped into the circle. Old high school memories came to my mind. A ... Finished with roll, Mr. Stucchi read the correct answer and then asked the class for alternative responses. Students responded eagerly and were praised for their efforts, whether their answers correct or incorrect. Maybe things had not changed that much. I sat back and relaxed. I was not prepared for what happened next. "Please clear your desks," asked Mr. Stucchi, "and I will pass out your weekly test." Muffled groans, shuffling papers, and tapping pencils filled the room. Mr. Stucchi passed out the tests and made sure that I got one, too. I looked at the questions and could not believe what I read. The supposed test had questions like "What book must you bring on Wednesday every week?" and "Describe what happens to a student who has just received his/her fourth tardy." Was this a test on school policies or English? I look around the classroom, searching for any clue that would indicate that this was not typical. • 12. Personal Statement : Elementary School In elementary school whilst my peers were playing dress up and feeding tea to their stuffed animals, my imaginary play entailed lining up all my animals in neatly constructed rows so that they would be prepared for my class. Although the teacher–student play was natural and fun, it was not evident to me at that time that I was destined to become a teacher. "It was time for Ms. Bibi's class and I dare you be late Mr. Rhino." In high school, I was a self–declared teacher 's assistant. I undertook the responsibility of grading many tests and completing attendance reports. This behavior persisted through college where I successfully set up supplemental classes in the library to help re–explain concepts taught during the day 's lecture to fellow classmates. After my volunteer work was discovered, I was offered a job in the math–tutoring lab as a supplemental instructor under a Title V grant. Many of my "clients," when noticing an increase in grades and understanding, always exclaimed how great of a teacher I was. They always said "you would make a good teacher one day". Reflecting back to my youngest memories I recall always being called a good teacher. However, during my elementary days I was called a good teacher's helper rather than teacher. • 13. Characteristics Of A Great Teacher What Makes A Great Teacher A world without education is a world without knowledge. Teachers play a significant role in educating the uneducated because it is a rewarding profession. However, it can only be done if there is dedication, passion, and determination. These are the key factors that separate a great teacher from a "mediocre" teacher. A "mediocre" teacher enjoys his or her work and is satisfied with their work. Meanwhile a great teacher is constantly adding and changing their teaching methods to accommodate the needs of each student. One of the articles that we have read over the course of this semester, states, "...Great teachers, he concluded, constantly reevaluate what they are doing" (Amanda and Ripley). When I was doing my research a common theme that came up was the fact that teacher need to constantly evaluate their teaching methods. It is crucial for teachers to constantly reevaluate their methods and to accommodate the new changes that are constantly occurring in the world. For example as technology advances teachers need to have the skills to add technology into their teaching methods. QUALITIES OF A GOOD TEACHER Along with my scholarly research articles, I had the opportunity to interview two of my former high school teachers Mike Kelly, and Alison Alvarez. Through the interviews, I was able to understand what it is like to be a teacher from their point of view and I was able to learn the qualities that makes a successful teacher. • 14. Continuing Professional Development Encouraging professional development for new and veteran teachers is very important for multiple reasons. Often times, new teachers still need time to become better acquainted with teaching in the classroom. On the opposite side, veteran teachers need to know what is current in education that can be implemented in their classroom. Professional development programs like mentorships, professional development plans, and continued development are important programs to have in place for teachers. For these programs to be successful and provide the support and development that a teacher needs, they have to be quality programs. Just as students and children have different ways that they learn, so do teachers and adults. Programs that will provide the development in teachers that is vital for their teaching will take this into consideration. Mentorships can be great for both new teachers and veteran teachers because each can learn from one another. New teachers should be paired with good veteran teachers so that they have a chance to really learn. These have to be caring, dedicated, organized, and successful teachers for the new teachers to really learn from them. Through these pairings, new teachers will find comfort while they struggle at times in knowing that they are not alone. They will also gain great wisdom from those who have been in... It was founded by Mahavira, who lived from 599 to 527 BCE. Mahavira was born into the kshatriya class of rulers and warriors. At the age of thirty he renounced the privileges this class afforded him to live an ascetic life. Reaching enlightenment only fourteen years later, Mahavira became a Vardhamana gaining followers until thirty years later when he starved himself to death. Mahavira is called the last of the great teachers. Jainism arose during the 6th century BCE. There were twenty–four great religious leaders called Tirthankaras including Mahavira (the 24th). Tirthankaras were all enlightened humans whose teachings and stories point the way for others. Like Hinduism and Buddhism Jainism is focused on separating from a physical form and escaping from reincarnation (The unhappy passage of the soul from one body to another). They believe they can do this through physical denial and mental self–discipline, when they reach enlightenment through these means they are liberated. However Jainism did oppose Hindu priestly groups who emphasized salvation by sacrifices they controlled. Some different ways to do this are phone calls, newsletters, and emails. The next level is volunteering. Teachers should not only promote but ask for family support in and out of the classroom. • 17. An Informal Reading Inventory Is A Great Tool For Teachers An Informal Reading Inventory is a great tool for teachers to use with their students to assess multiple concepts. One purpose of the IRI is to monitor the growth of a student's word recognition, oral reading, and comprehension to determine the reading level of independent, instructional, and frustration. The frustration level is when the passage is too hard for the student even with help from the teacher. The instructional reading level is when a student can read the text with the assistance from a teacher, parent, or peer. Independent means that the student can read the passage alone with no outside assistance. When teachers administer these tests they can pick the level of the passage given and use the results to help decide how to further instruct the student. Later on, test the student on the same level to measure the growth of the student. The assessment is given by having a student answer concept questions about a passage before reading. When administering the assessment, tell the student his/her answers will be recorded to elevate stress on the student. Next, the student will use context clues to draw predictions following with reading the passage orally with no support from the teacher. Students are advised before reading to try to sound out words or move on from the word. As the student reads, the teacher counts all of the miscues the student had. • 21. The Ron Clark Story "The Ron Clark Story" is such an inspirational movie in my opinion. I feel that this movie shows what dedication in teaching is all about. It shows that teachers care and have chosen their career in order to make a difference. Ron Clark was an outstanding teacher who was said to be able to raise test scores in any school he taught at. However, instead of choosing a simple, private school that already has high test scores, he chose to teach in an area where students were really struggling. He chose to help those that really needed it. The Ron Clark Story, in my opinion, is all about how much of a difference teachers can really make. I believe that teaching excellence comes from two different things, dedication and the desire to help others. Teachers who are dedicated to their students and classrooms are definitely going to be excellent and never give up at what they do. Teachers who have a great desire to help their students and their career will continue to do everything they can to make sure their students receive what is needed. The two characteristics that make an excellent teacher are dedication and the desire to help others. I believe dedication is important when teaching because if a teacher is not dedicated to his or her classroom, then how will their students learn? If a teacher is dedicated to the class, then I believe that they will excel at making sure their students are receiving a tremendous education. Dedication is all about never giving up and devoting a large amount of effort to whatever is being done. If teachers never give up on their students and devote their greatest effort in helping their students succeed, then I believe they will excel at teaching. I also believe that an important part to be an excellent teacher is the desire to help others. If a teacher did not have the want to help others, then obviously, it would be difficult for them to help students succeed. Students need help, it should be a teacher's number one priority to help their students. Some may not ask for help and some may need more help than others, however, teachers who get angry or annoyed with students when help is asked of them, will not be successful. Therefore, desire to help others is very important when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. I Was A Great Teacher Essay In Educating Esme there are moment when we see how she taught positively, but we also see how things had negative consequences or weaknesses. I saw weaknesses in her teaching in the way she is sometimes overly caring with her students. I also saw negative consequences when she went to Mr. Turner about B.B. I also think that there were negative consequences with her conflict resolution meetings. Though there were consequences and weaknesses in her teaching I think there were also positive points. Her teaching also related to Robert Powell's principle of teaching. Through all the good, negative consequences and weaknesses we can really see that Esme was a great teacher. B.B was a student who was disrespectful and was threatening to other classmates. Esme went to Mr. Turner and told him about B.B's behavior in the classroom. I think that she did the right thing in going to Mr. Turner however it had negative consequences. B.B was suspended and he wasn't being taught and that has an effect on his learning. When he came back to school his mother came with him. She started hitting him right in the hall because of his gang involvement and acting out at school. I think that this also ties into the weaknesses that Esme has. She is so overly caring and it sometimes can be seen when she really sees what her student go through. I think this can be seen when she wrote "Ozzie's mom says Ozzie cries for me at night, wanting to talk to me, that he feels alone in the world. Everyone is so ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Importance Of Effective Teaching Strategies The benefits to students and teachers of using effective teaching strategies are numerous and include student teacher bonding, high student learning, and less teacher burn stress. Four articles have been reviewed, here, that span twenty years time. Issues of concern twenty years ago are still an issue facing teachers and administrators today. McLaughlin and Talbert (1993) indicated there was a need to reform content twenty years ago. Fear and the inability of students to recognize teacher feedback as helpful are stumbling blocks students face every day (Black & William, 1998). "...Assessment is often viewed as something in competition with teaching, rather than as an integral part of teaching and learning" according to Heritage's (2007, p. 140) Phi Delta Kappan article. These roadblocks have become paving stones for new teachers today. Observation assessments completed, show Professional Development has a positive correlation to students learning an teacher effectiveness (Allen, Gregory, Mikami, Lun, Hamre, & Pianta, 2013). Change, transition, new experiences, and uncertainty encompass a secondary students life as they are in growing emotionally and educationally. Teachers play a vital role in an adolescence's life at this time. The teacher can be a source of safety and familiarity. By having this expression the teacher is setting the mood for the reading and discouraging us from reading. The Great Depression took place during 1929– 1939, also known as the western industrializations longest–lasting economic downturn. Although many countries went through the depression, some suffered greater than others such as Canada. As the stock markets in Wall Street had a major crash in 1929 the depression really began to hit. During 1921–1930 the liberal government was in charge therefore society had the most control over the economic market. The third part of the plan is "use more process questions than product questions" (Reinhart, 2000, p. 480). The last step is probably the most important and that is to "be patient. Wait time is very important" (Reinhart, 2000, p. 480). Jesus does this better than anyone I know. A good leader knows how to listen and lead a group in an effective way in addition to knowing when to follow is key to success. These skills are due to the four different modes of thinking. According to Lana M. It varies from the most complicated: dialectical to the easiest: technological. I believe it is crucial to know when to use which method so time will not be wasted. It is not necessary to consult another teacher when it comes to sending the attendance folder to the main office (technological thinking), but it would be helpful getting others' assistance if a problem as severe as bullying, needs to be addressed appropriately (dialectical thinking) since the issue is more complex, more resources, collaboration, and thought needs to go into resolving it....
