1. How do you feel your website design
conforms to the conventions of your
chosen genre and brand identity?

2. Design, Navigation & Layout:
My website was based around the British
Vogue website as I liked how it was so plain
but still had so much going on. I chose my
pages to be underneath the ‘Mode’ title
because as soon as you go onto a website
the top is the first thing you look at and
where there is a big picture in the backdrop
it makes the title stand out even more,
therefore making the pages too. I also chose
to put them there as I think putting them
down the side can sometimes be a
distraction because usually the middle is
where all the stories/articles etc go. It is
very simple with only 2/3 colours, which
teenagers prefer, instead of seeing 10
different colours on one page. At the
bottom of the home page is an offer that if
you purchase 10 issues you get a discount
and a free tanning kit, this would persuade
the teenagers to subscribe as a lot of
teenagers use fake tan and it is very
expensive, also many teenagers attend
college/uni and do not have a job so giving
away a free gift would interest them. I have
also created a ‘Get the App’ part as
teenagers are more likely to go on their
phones rather than be on a computer
looking at the website.
3. Social Media:
I have put a social media header in the banner of my website home page and it also
features on every other page. It has a link to a Facebook account, Twitter account and
also email. The users will just have to click on whatever social media they would want to
interact with and the link will open up in a new tab. I have used social media as teenagers
would much prefer to see a feed of news on their Twitter or Facebook, rather than
actually reading a magazine, the feeds would also be updated with different stories from
the magazine so if a reader did like or follow the Mode account they would receive other
articles, not just the ones they see on the App or in the magazine.
