Crocodiles can grow up to 20 feet long and weigh 440 pounds, with green scales and visible teeth even when their mouths are closed. They live primarily in swamps and slow moving rivers with sandy banks, hunting alone but eating together, preying on mammals, reptiles, fish and invertebrates by hiding and ambushing them when they come to drink water. Their nostrils are high on their snouts, they lack outer ears, use their tails to maneuver in water, and have translucent eyelids and feet that help with steering.
