2. Real estate developer and investor Louis Pargiolas has
been actively involved with the American Society of
Bogota, an organization that aims to unite Colombians and
Americans. Through this organization, Louis Pargiolas has
provided vital support to scholarships for Colombian
students from underprivileged backgrounds. The
organization has sponsored several students at the
elementary and secondary levels to help them work toward
their educational goals.
In Colombia, public education is free, but students must
buy their own books from local bookstores. Both primary
and secondary schools use uniforms, so that students
cannot judge others’ economic status based on their
attire.
3. Children between the ages of 6 and 12 attend
primary school, with children aged 12 to 16
attending secondary school. In secondary school,
the first two years focus on general subjects
while the last two focus on skills for career
development.
After completing secondary school, students may
continue on to university-level studies. However,
the cost of university education is out of reach
for many Colombian families. Scholarships can
help Colombian students achieve their dreams of
higher education.
