Difference between simple and complex machines. Examples.

1. DEFINITION: A machine is something we use
to make work easier.

2. We can classify machines in two
different ways:
 Simple machines
 A simple machine has
few or no moving
parts.
 They require energy
• Complex machines
• A complex machine
is compound by
simple machines.
• They require
electrical energy.

3. There are six types of simple
machines:
 PULLEY: it uses a wheel and a rope to lift
or lower an object.
 INCLINED PLANE : it is an slanting
surface to connect a low level with a high
level.

4.  SCREW: it is a type of inclined plane.We
use it to hold things or lift objects.
• WHEEL: It is a circular object that turns
around an axle.

5. WEDGE: it is an object with at least one
slanting edge. We use it to cut objects.
 LEVER : it is a rigid bar with a support
called fulcrum.
