- 8. 1998, All Nike shoe factories met the U.S. OSHA’s standards in indoor air quality Results : Decrease air pollution and workplace hazards 12/1998, nose and throat diseases decreased from 86% in 1997 to 18% in 1998 1999, 85% of workers considered the work conditions as safe 1999, implemented “Code of Conducts” Aim to protect workers’ rights and strengthen accountability & transparence Workers awared of their rights & chanced to access basic education ( 2001, 85% workers offered training & education)

DISADVANTAGES Not very effective system to track workers illness and accidents Inadequate data to measure the health impacts High cost: Cost for independent check by other organizations Training cost for workers about safety rules Costs relating to install systems to ensure safety working environment Sales decreased as the price of products increases.
