2. WHAT TITLES ARE NORMALLY USED?
• In Psychological Drama there are many uses of titles that can be used at a start of a
film. As films are different the styles can also reflect this by the way it is produced. It
can be a long sequence that introduces the crew and cast of the film in there own
style. It also shows the settings or themes that can be included in the film. Then in
normally shows the transition in the film from the title sequence.
• For example looking at different films in this genre like Taxi Driver which was made in
1976 the opening title sequences is around 1 minute and 36 Seconds and firstly in the
intro of the sequence it shows the main actor of the film in red writing and then the
title of the film. As the titles of the people that contributed with the film there is the
establishing of the setting which is a big city. While also showing the big part of the
film which will be the taxi that will be playing a big part in the film.
3. ANALYSIS OF TITLE SEQUENCE - BLACK SWAN

the audience that it has

established big 6 company.
This title shows the name
of the film that it will be
called. It shows the
background of the titles
which is dark and cloudy
which could symbolise a
thunder storm. This is
setting up the film for
having a negative film, also
using the font shows that
the film will be stylish but
complicated.
4. ANALYSIS OF TITLE SEQUENCE - BLACK SWAN
• This is a title sequence of a psychological drama film Black Swan.
The titles then change colour
scheme between the darks and
red that was previously seen. It
has changed into a more
bright but also displaying the
theme of the swan with the
use of the feather. There is also
still the theme of the black and
white which is used with the
text colour. This is used to
show the effect of establishing
to the audience the tone and
what is come.
The final title sequence
they use before the start of
the film is the introduction
of the main character
actress. The title sequence
has returned back to the
black background with the
white text. I think that for
this transition this has been
used because the films
starts after this which the
dark background can set
the scene showing that it
will be dark.
