2. Concept :
DESCRIPTIVE ESSAY
Is defined as the text developed by an author with the intention of expressing
his point of view about the different traits of an individual, situation or object,
and that materializes through the descriptive act, which is also totally influenced
by subjectivity, more than by an objective intention on the part of the writer.
3. DESCRIPTIVE ESSAY
Introduction
• This part is supposed to explain why the author has chosen a specific object or person. Introduction comprises a
strong thesis statement and must captivate reader’s attention from the first lines.
Body
• The first paragraph: tells the reader about the object itself, its characteristics and the most distinguishing
features. It gives a full and vivid picture through the smallest details of observation.
• The second paragraph portrays surroundings. In this section, you are free to use as many stylistic devices as you
want. Your reader must feel the atmosphere of the environment you describe.
• The last paragraph refers to senses and emotions. You describe everything you can feel, see, hear, touch, and
smell. Your task is to make the picture alive.
conclusion • The last stage is the conclusion. It emphasizes the importance of your description. In this part, you sum up your
emotions, attitudes, and impressions
5. Descriptive essay: outline
Introduction: what makes a movie great
The six areas of brilliance are the script, characters, acting,
timing, sound, and visuals (thesis)
Body:
Argument 1: having weak opening and / or ending dialog certainly contributes to a sour taste in the
audience’s mouth (grove,E.)
Argument 2: Characters are often the focal point of a film
Argument 3: The timing, or a pace, of a film is often what keeps film viewers staying or leaving
Argument 4: Sound is more essential to the film- viewing experience that most would believe.
Conclusion: when it comes to films, there are exact criteria that critics and official
film industry professionals use to gauge the greatness of films. These elements
comprise script, characters, acting, timing, sound, and visuals. Without the
successful undertaking of these aspects, a film might be a cult gaff, but never a cult
classic.
