This attack was premeditated by Tamerlan Tsarnaev and his brother, Dzhokhar. With the security's in place since 9/11, this attack could have been

conservative mosque is Dagestan where it is believe he talked to local militants. This trip didn't set off any warning signals to the FBI. However, when
he landed in JFK Airport in NYC, the Department of Homeland Security contacted Boston's Joint Terrorism Task Force. Regretfully, the agency
reviewed the automatic alert but took no further action. (Homeland Insecurity) Tsarnaev continued to be disruptive in mosques and eventually broke
ties with them. He started posting YouTube videos, one titled "Terrorist" that showed militants with assault rifles and another video showing the
celebration of jihad fighters after they defeated the infidels. An investigation into why Tsarnaev was able to conduct such attacks was deemed as

Kalmykia when it was still part of the former USSR. The family soon after moved to Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, where the father, Anzor Tsarnaev, landed a
job in the prosecutor's office. In 1999, as the Russians tried to stop an insurgency in Chechnya, Tsarnaev was fired from his job, allegedly the result of
political discrimination against people of Chechen origins. The family then moved to Dagestan (CNN 2013). In 2002, the family sought political

Four airplanes, were hijacked by 19 Al–Qaeda members to be flown into buildings. Two of the planes were crashed into the North and South towers of

Within 1 hour and 42 minutes, both towers collapsed, with debris and the resulting fires causing partial or complete damage to all other buildings in
the World Trade Center complex, including the World Trade Center tower, as well as significant damage to 10 other large structures. A third plane
was crashed into the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia. This led to a partial collapse in the Pentagon 's western side. The fourth plane initially
was steered towards Washington, D.C., but crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, because its passengers tried to overcome the hijackers.

Violence and terrorism are significant challenges in the world economy today. Terrorism has been in existence since before the beginning of recorded
human history. The scope of terrorism and its rates of occurrence have grown significantly in the recent past due to factors such as globalization of
commerce, transport of people, and information exchange. Some of the key elements contributing directly to the terrorism problem include the
ideological competition and economic challenges these issues may result in cooperative aggression by far flung individuals who are like–minded in

Examples of these sentiments include the anti–immigration protests staged by the ultranationalists in Moscow in 2010 and 2011. Hundreds of residents
marched in Moscow in April 2011 protesting against the government funds that are directed towards economic subsidies for the region. The main issue
is that most of the residents from the North Caucasus region are discriminated economically and face xenophobic prejudices in Russia. This means they
are socially and economically alienated increasing their likelihood of joining the Islamist insurgents. The fact that they face xenophobic sentiments as a
community makes it more difficult for them to advance economically and socially. The outcome is a strong positive outlook towards joining the
terrorist group as a way of gaining social relevance. The youth who are exposed to xenophobic tendencies are considered a threat to peace by most
people in Russia and other areas neighboring Chechnya and the North Caucasus region. Due to the social discrimination and the perceived injustices,

The Boston Marathon is an annual event and brings out large numbers of individuals including marathon runners, the families of the runners, large
police presence, and many tourists. During the annual event in April of 2013, there were two explosions close to the finish line that resulted in three
fatalities and an excessive number of those injured, approximately 200 (History, 2014). These explosions came from homemade bombs that had been

Russia has 16,377,742 sq km of land and 720,500 sq km of water combining to be a massive total of 17,098,242 sq km in total. Russia's geographic
coordinates are 60 00 N, 100 00 E and is also the largest country in the world. Russia is approximately 1.8 times the size of the united states. Russia
currently boarders 14 countries Azerbaijan, China, Belarus, Estonia, Finland, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Mongolia, Poland, Ukraine, Norway,
Lithuania, and North Korea. Russia has a massive 37,653 km of coastline ranging from the northern artic to the northern pacific. People mainly reside

In 2014 tensions had reached a boiling point between Ukraine and Russia as the Crimean Peninsula was annexed into the Russian federation. Since

continent Russia and Japan are still at war. A dispute over the southern Kurill islands has prevented either country from signing a peace agreement.
In 1855 both Japan and Russia signed the Treaty of Shimoda which relinquished Russia's ownership of the islands to Japan. However, after World
War 2 Russia took them back and by 1949 had evacuated all 17,000 residents from the islands to mainland Japan. In today's time, there are 30,000
Russian citizens on the islands and a small Russian military presence. President Putin has indicated that he will return the two closest islands to Japan
but made no mention of the other two. The two islands Russia was willing to return make up approximately only 7% of the disputed territory. The
islands are a tourist hotspot because of the birdlife and volcanos, however more importantly for each country they are thought to have offshore reserves
