2. Slide 2 – Primary drawing
When I did this drawing I was sitting in front of the still life, therefore it is a primary source, after
doing my artist research on Matisse I looked at the way he draws and tried to do it in my own
work, so it linked into when we did line drawings because in his work he uses lines and not much
tone.
3. Slide 3 – Formal elements
When doing these pages I was thinking about the formal elements of art and that is why I
did one hole page on tone because tone is a important element which can make a drawing
look life like. With mark making I looked at a still like a did a copy but using mark making
which was a effective way to learn about mark making.
4. Slide 4 – Colour
The image on the left is of my copy of
Milhazes paint work, which I used for
when we did still life painting in class, I
tried to show his work in my own by
using bold colours and shapes like his
work.
5. Slide 5 – Collage
Before I started this collage I had to do a abstract drawing based on the still life
drawing I did earlier in the course, there was a lot of nature in the still life so to get
more ideas and shapes I looked in a magazine and I added ideas of my own. Then
in class we did colour work which led on to doing big squares of different shades
and textures based on the colours we worked with. I used these squares to start
making my collage.
6. Slide 6 –safety
For some of the work in this course and the work I do in the future I had to learn
about how to work with different materials and how to do it safely, I went into the
workshop and learn about steel and how to work with it and the safety involved, I
also did the same thing for wood and then in the class room I learn how to relief
print.
7. Evaluation Summary
• During this course I have learnt many new skills I can use in art and design, when we first started we were looking at
lot at drawing from still life, from doing this I learn about how to do things such as tone and mark making. I found it
very helpful that we were working at a fast pace because it helped to push and improve my drawing skills. When doing
the home work given I tried to look at how the artist did their work and not just when and why, when doing my artist
research I did copies of their work to know how they did it, later on I used what I had learnt from doing the artist
research and put it in to my own work. During the course I also learnt a lot about colour, we did a lot of mixing colour
and experimenting to see the outcome.
• I could had managed my time better when doing the work only because it was moving so fast and I was trying my
hardest to make my work up to standard. When doing the painting I relived I enjoyed it better then pencil drawing I
think this is because I work better with colour then just black and white. This things that went wrong in the course so
far must be the fact I haven’t finish my 3D work, I think this is because I over complicated it and didn’t plan to much
ahead.
