•Keep devices in bins until the teacher gives
permission to begin.
•Carefully remove the device from the bag,
turn on and open your Totes Notebook.
Write Today’s Objective:
To create a Still Life
Drawing Two Ways.
2. Still Life Two Ways
One student will be working on the
Tracing Lite App and one student
will be drawing from life.
3. Still Life Two Ways
Student One:
Open the Tracing Lite App
Upload the Still Life photo
you took yesterday
Adjust the photo and
begin tracing
Student Two:
Set up your still life
Use the drawing paper and
drawing pencils to create a
still life drawing showing value
4. When you are both finished, switch.
You should have two complete drawings
by the end of class.
Save your iPad drawing and take a photo
of your pencil drawing.
Save both in your Photo Album.
Open your Totes Notebook and write
comparisons about the two different media.
Which one did you prefer?
Which one was easier? harder?
What produced the best results?

End of Class Procedures:
1.Return to Home page.
2.Close all running apps.
3.Power device off.
4.Clean screen.
5.Place carefully in bag and device bin.
6. Notes to Teacher:
This is an example of one class period that followed several days of
iPad usage (including the Tracing Lite App, photos and camera work, and the
Totes Notebook app). The students were already familiar with the apps
used during this class.
In addition, there was a previous lesson on sketching, value and drawing from life.
