2. Upon its foundation, in 1968, LDK
already had commissions from the
Greek state and Greek industry
to research the development
potentials of enterprises and
products within the Greek market
and industry.
Based on this
experience gained
in the decade of the
1960s, LDK’s vision
– from early 1970 –
included sustainable
development. In
other words, in
parallel to carrying
out studies for “MEP
for Buildings” in
Greece, LDK invested
in the research and
development of new
markets and new
products.
3. LDK’s “Strategy” administrative Division researches and voluntarily offers
advisory services to the Greek governments since 2009 with a view to
contribute to the Greek economy recovery, through the productive
activities of agriculture, energy, environment, tourism,
transportation, as well as the employment of jobless people
(2009-2014)
4. Buildings: Research on the solar energy technology for use in
housing, education (school buildings), 1970

5. Hydrocarbons: LDK has contributed to the hydrocarbon
exploration of the Ionian Sea (Greece) addressing the
environmental dimension of this research. LDK was assigned
contracts by US and UK research companies, with the approval of
the Greek state. (1997-2000)
Railway Technologies: LDK has developed in-house software tools
to automate the computations and the production of drawings
needed for the electric traction in the railway technology, 2002
6. Socioeconomic Development: Financial and technical research for the
construction of a housing estate of 500 apartments (social housing) in the
Attica Region, District of Athens, with the use of fossils, solar and
geothermal sources (hybrid technology) for the cogeneration of heat and
electricity for the houses, 1978. Project implementation, 435 apartments:
1984. Energy savings: 65%. Financed by: Greek state 35%, German state
(BMFT) 65%, 1981-84
Targeting economic development, the retainment of the islands’ inhabitants
and the environmental protection (air and sea) of the Cycladic Region, LDK
carried out research on the use of endogenous energy sources: solar, wind,
geothermal, fossils and hybrid systems, 1985-86
7. Market: Market research for the promotion of energy technologies in
the 12 European Community countries and later in third countries, 1991-
1995
Institutional Building: LDK carried out on behalf of CEC research for
the establishment of an Energy Center in Kazakhstan with the aim of
developing a national Εnergy Strategy, Almaty, 1993
Governance: Drafting of the law for “auto-generation of electricity” in
Greece, 1984: Law enacted and 1st implementation: Solar Village, Attica,
