1. Essay about Health and Fitness
When I graduated from high school, I was introduced to "fast food." The whole summer all I eat
was hamburgers, pizza, and unhealthy sandwiches. I quickly went from 150 pounds to 180
pounds. That was all fat and most of it was around my waist line. I realized if I continued this
regimen, I would be obese by the time I'm 21 years. I would also be more susceptible to acquiring
diseases such as heart disease and cholesterol problems. I joined a local gym and started
researching different working techniques and better eating habits. During this period I met
numerous people who had similar goals and where willing to share their experiences with me. It
seems like every person I spoke to had a different exercising routine. After a few months of...show

To insure safety and proper rest time, I do not work out the same body part more then a twice a
week. Once I complete my weight lifting session, I stat my cardiovascular workout. This consists
of 45 minutes of on the treadmill. The first 10 minutes I start my worm up by doing a fast past
walk, then I run at a moderate pace for about 35 minutes. This will insure my cardiovascular levels
are maintained and my body fat level is low.
Besides my enjoyment for weight lifting and cardiovascular work outs I also stretch after every
work out session. According to Iknoian, Therese, stretching is extremely important. When I lift
weights my muscles are very tight at the end of my work out. The range of motion is a lot shorter
then prior to working out. After every workout session whether its weight lifting or cardiovascular, I
stretch for about 15 minutes. This will insure I maintain my flexibility and avoid losing my full
range of motion. In addition to stretching after I workout I also stretch prior to weightlifting. This
will allow me to conduct my work out session with a minimal possibility of causing injury to myself.
In addition to weight lifting and cardiovascular work outs, I eat healthy foods to accommodate my
work out routines. There are numerous diets that are imperative to accomplish physical fitness goals.
According to Max Muscle Magazine in order to properly intake a sufficient amount

2. 100 Metre sprinter
When you are a marathon runner you will need to have a low of body composition because when
you are doing a marathon it would be to hard for you if u had a lot of body composition, and if
you had a lot of weight running a marathon u would be carrying a lot of excess weight around with
you and this will equal you get exhausted very quick.
That's why when you watch for example "The London Marathon" all of the runners are all very

A marathon runner will have to have a very good aerobic endurance, as they will need to take in as
much oxygen as they can when running the marathon.
They wouldn't need much flexibility because they wouldn't need to be wouldn't need to be bending a
twisting a lot when running round.
They will also need a good muscular endurance level as they will need to have there legs in there
muscles not to get to exhausted or they wouldn't b able to get around the course.

What is strength?
There are different types of strength; each has a different effect on the body static strength,
explosive strength and dynamic strength. Static strength is the greatest amount of force that can be
applied to an immovable object, like in a rugby scrum. Explosive strength is the muscular strength
used in one short sharp movement, like a sprinter leaving the starting blocks. Dynamic strength is
the muscular strength a sports person needs to support their own body weight over a prolonged
period of time, or to be able to apply force against some type of object like in speed skating. This
type of strength is closely linked with endurance. There are different methods to develop different
types of strength.

7. The Importance of Health and Fitness
Health and Fitness
It has long been established in the world of medicine that physical fitness directly impacts overall
health in people. In fact, it has only been in recent years that scientists and physicians are taking the
research to the next level and discovering exactly how greatly fitness effects health (President's
Council, 2012). With more and more individuals living a sedentary lifestyle and minimizing their
physical activity, it has become apparent that fitness is not only useful for health, but essential to
maintaining good health and a long life. Simply put, physical fitness and overall health are directly
related. Physical fitness benefits the brain, keeps the body strong, and boosts the immune system to
prevent and shorten illness. Physical fitness directly benefits the overall health and longevity of the
brain. The brain is a living organ in the body and requires healthy, oxygen–filled blood in order to
thrive (The Human Brain). According to studies, even the simple act of aerobic walking is highly
beneficial for the brain, and an exercise that most anyone can accomplish. In a study published in the
Annals of Internal Medicine (2012), it was found that walking regularly not only improved senior
citizen's overall memory skills, but also decreased the risk of stroke by 57 percent (Gill). These
benefits were accomplished by walking as little as 20 minutes each day. Another study published in
the Journals of Gerontology (2002) found that proof of the

cause serious health issues up to and including death. To decrease these serious health risks and
promote favorable personal health, one should incorporate positive nutritional and fitness habits.

Obesity is associated with a vast number of health problems. It is often looked at as just a severe
cosmetic problem. In actuality, in addition to being cosmetic, obesity is one of the leading causes
of major health issues in the United States. According to medical news today, obesity is a key risk
factor for several conditions and diseases including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart
disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, several types of cancers, gallbladder disease and gall stones,
osteoarthritis, gout, and breathing problems including asthma and sleep apnea. These health factors
have also been liked to premature deaths in obese people. Someone who is 40% obese is two times
more likely to die prematurely than a normal–weight person (Cholesterol Management Health

even preventable disease. Through proper fitness and dietary habits one can overcome and
completely avoid the wrath of obesity. The Human body was designed for movement; to serve as

Nutrition and Physical Fitness as Essential Tools for a Healthy Lifestyle I remember spending hours
at the gym without seeing results. My routines involved two hours cardio plus half an hour of

the results I aimed for after spending two and a half hours at the gym every day. Yet the answer to
this question seemed to be far away as I was faraway to follow the right pattern towards physical

18. A Personal Reflection On Fitness And Fitness
Prior to this course, fitness to me meant all about your weight. I now know that it is more to it than
just that. Fitness includes exercising, healthy eating, and getting enough rest just to name a few.
There are many ways to measure fitness, such as assessments, time periods of exercise, and the use
of Body Mass Index (BMI). An important component that I have learned during the duration of this
course is that to achieve the appropriate fitness level, it is necessary to mentally discipline yourself.
You must motivate yourself to keep thriving; it takes perseverance. Many of us expect results
overnight, but that is never the case. Consistent self motivation is a must to achieving fitness goals.
At the beginning of this course, my fitness level was what considered to be low. I rarely exercised
and when I did, it was only for short periods of time. Whenever I would go to the gym, I only did
the bare minimum, so of course, I did not get any results. The only time I was really active was
when I was walking around campus to go to my classes. Now, I am much more active. I acquired a
gym membership and try to exercise at least 3 times a week. Along with the membership, my
internship has kept me active as well. I am usually running back and forth between buildings and
chasing little kids all day, things of which I never thought of doing before. I know have habits of
going for 30 minutes jogs around the neighborhood and stretching every morning before I start my

woman who exercises 3.5 days a week (176minutes) will lose more significant amount of weight
than some one who does not exercise at all. But you have to understand that when you are
exercising, you are also replacing fat with muscle and muscle weighs more than fat, but I know I
would be happy if I didn't lose weight and replaced my fat with muscle. Overweight but fit people
