Essay about Health and Fitness
When I graduated from high school, I was introduced to "fast food." The whole summer all I eat
was hamburgers, pizza, and unhealthy sandwiches. I quickly went from 150 pounds to 180
pounds. That was all fat and most of it was around my waist line. I realized if I continued this
regimen, I would be obese by the time I'm 21 years. I would also be more susceptible to acquiring
diseases such as heart disease and cholesterol problems. I joined a local gym and started
researching different working techniques and better eating habits. During this period I met
numerous people who had similar goals and where willing to share their experiences with me. It
seems like every person I spoke to had a different exercising routine. After a few months of...show

To insure safety and proper rest time, I do not work out the same body part more then a twice a
week. Once I complete my weight lifting session, I stat my cardiovascular workout. This consists
of 45 minutes of on the treadmill. The first 10 minutes I start my worm up by doing a fast past
walk, then I run at a moderate pace for about 35 minutes. This will insure my cardiovascular levels
are maintained and my body fat level is low.
Besides my enjoyment for weight lifting and cardiovascular work outs I also stretch after every
work out session. According to Iknoian, Therese, stretching is extremely important. When I lift
weights my muscles are very tight at the end of my work out. The range of motion is a lot shorter
then prior to working out. After every workout session whether its weight lifting or cardiovascular, I
stretch for about 15 minutes. This will insure I maintain my flexibility and avoid losing my full
range of motion. In addition to stretching after I workout I also stretch prior to weightlifting. This
will allow me to conduct my work out session with a minimal possibility of causing injury to myself.
In addition to weight lifting and cardiovascular work outs, I eat healthy foods to accommodate my
work out routines. There are numerous diets that are imperative to accomplish physical fitness goals.
According to Max Muscle Magazine in order to properly intake a sufficient amount

The definition of health related fitness is health related fitness relates to those components of health
status.
Our health status is: –
Strength. Muscular endurance, Aerobic endurance, Flexibility and Body composition.
Now I am going to explain their purpose and importance in relation to the five components of fitness.
1. Aerobic Endurance
2. Muscular Endurance
3. Body Composition

There are benefits if you have a good level of strength such as good posture, making everyday tasks,

The two contrasting sports I have chosen for this part and these assignments are: –
1. Marathon
2. 100 Metre sprinter
When you are a marathon runner you will need to have a low of body composition because when
you are doing a marathon it would be to hard for you if u had a lot of body composition, and if
you had a lot of weight running a marathon u would be carrying a lot of excess weight around with
you and this will equal you get exhausted very quick.
That's why when you watch for example "The London Marathon" all of the runners are all very
skinny.
A marathon runner will have to have a very good aerobic endurance, as they will need to take in as
much oxygen as they can when running the marathon.
They wouldn't need much flexibility because they wouldn't need to be wouldn't need to be bending a
twisting a lot when running round.
They will also need a good muscular endurance level as they will need to have there legs in there
muscles not to get to exhausted or they wouldn't b able to get around the course.
I have chosen a 100–metre

What is good health?
Health is defined as a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the
absence of disease or infirmity. Health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being

This means you must prepare specifically for the needs of this activity. You can achieve specific
fitness by training.
What is strength?
There are different types of strength; each has a different effect on the body static strength,
explosive strength and dynamic strength. Static strength is the greatest amount of force that can be
applied to an immovable object, like in a rugby scrum. Explosive strength is the muscular strength
used in one short sharp movement, like a sprinter leaving the starting blocks. Dynamic strength is
the muscular strength a sports person needs to support their own body weight over a prolonged
period of time, or to be able to apply force against some type of object like in speed skating. This
type of strength is closely linked with endurance. There are different methods to develop different
types of strength.
Bodybuilding
Developing and increasing strength is quite easy as long as you follow the right training
programme and understand the principles of training to increase muscle strength which is
increasing the size of the muscle. This method is called overload which stresses the muscle

The Importance of Health and Fitness
Health and Fitness
It has long been established in the world of medicine that physical fitness directly impacts overall
health in people. In fact, it has only been in recent years that scientists and physicians are taking the
research to the next level and discovering exactly how greatly fitness effects health (President's
Council, 2012). With more and more individuals living a sedentary lifestyle and minimizing their
physical activity, it has become apparent that fitness is not only useful for health, but essential to
maintaining good health and a long life. Simply put, physical fitness and overall health are directly
related. Physical fitness benefits the brain, keeps the body strong, and boosts the immune system to
prevent and shorten illness. Physical fitness directly benefits the overall health and longevity of the
brain. The brain is a living organ in the body and requires healthy, oxygen–filled blood in order to
thrive (The Human Brain). According to studies, even the simple act of aerobic walking is highly
beneficial for the brain, and an exercise that most anyone can accomplish. In a study published in the
Annals of Internal Medicine (2012), it was found that walking regularly not only improved senior
citizen's overall memory skills, but also decreased the risk of stroke by 57 percent (Gill). These
benefits were accomplished by walking as little as 20 minutes each day. Another study published in
the Journals of Gerontology (2002) found that proof of the

Nutrition and Fitness Essay
Nutrition and fitness play two of the most important roles in human health, and it is not difficult to
understand some of the consequences for ignoring their significance. Ignoring proper nutritional
and fitness habits can lead to extreme health risks such as obesity; most of which will eventually
cause serious health issues up to and including death. To decrease these serious health risks and
promote favorable personal health, one should incorporate positive nutritional and fitness habits.

Obesity is associated with a vast number of health problems. It is often looked at as just a severe
cosmetic problem. In actuality, in addition to being cosmetic, obesity is one of the leading causes
of major health issues in the United States. According to medical news today, obesity is a key risk
factor for several conditions and diseases including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart
disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes, several types of cancers, gallbladder disease and gall stones,
osteoarthritis, gout, and breathing problems including asthma and sleep apnea. These health factors
have also been liked to premature deaths in obese people. Someone who is 40% obese is two times
more likely to die prematurely than a normal–weight person (Cholesterol Management Health
Center, 2011). Though obesity is a major concern in our American society, it is a manageable and
even preventable disease. Through proper fitness and dietary habits one can overcome and
completely avoid the wrath of obesity. The Human body was designed for movement; to serve as
a vehicle to transport us from place to place. To fuel this vehicle, a balanced diet is critical.
Ideally, our bodies need a suitable balance of carbohydrates. If enough carbohydrates are not

You obtain this energy from nutrients in the food that you eat– mostly, carbohydrates, fats and
proteins.
Minerals and vitamins are other nutrients that are also important in your diet to help your body stay
healthy. It is important to find the right balance between these different nutrients to achieve maximum
health benefits. A balanced diet generally contains food from each of the following food groups:
starchy foods (such as: bread, rice, potatoes, pasta...), fruit and vegetables, milk and dairy foods,
protein foods; these include meat, fish, eggs and other non–dairy sources of protein (including nuts,
tofu, beans, pulses, etc.).
Fatty and sugary foods are the fifth food group that you eat.
However, only a small amount of what you eat should be made up from fatty and sugary foods. In
addition to the
above, having plenty of fiber and water in your diet is also important for your health.
The reasons that bring a person to be physically fit are numerous, from the benefits that offer to the

the psychological level. Fitness may help prevent certain serious diseases such as high blood

Personal Statement On Health And Fitness
Health and fitness has always been a big part of my life even without knowing it, but the
transition changed from sport and athletics to the gym and trying to achieve what I thought was
expected of me socially. After a year of lagging progress and nearly giving up I decided to give it
one more shot I just needed to go after it a different way. I needed to educate myself on the process
I was going to undergo to achieve my goals. So I turned to the internet, more specifically Youtube, it
became my saving grace, unbeknownst to me at the time there was a large fitness community
waiting for me behind my Youtube search bar, ready to provide anyone who looks with large
amounts of information on Fitness and training, healthy eating and dieting and a major source of
positive motivation to help get anyone started.

it comes down to it you're only missing out on some of life's better outcomes. Training has proven to
help with weight issues, combats health conditions and fight diseases, improve mood, increase
energy and it also promotes better sleep so with all these positives why not trade in a little time to
gain all of these benefits?

Introduction
This paper discusses how health and fitness are crucial to living a happy and productive lifestyle.
It includes descriptions of what exercise, nutrition, and mental health is, as well as how living a
healthy or unhealthy lifestyle effects the body. A healthy lifestyle can influence one`s work and
daily life as it can increase a person's confidence, mood, creativity, attendance and efficiency. On
the other hand, an unhealthy one can result in issues such as fat build up, high cholesterol levels,
high blood pressure, weakened muscles and bones as well as inconsistent sleep cycles. If a person
does not take care of their body in the present, there may be irreversible and/or costly side effects in
the future.

Nutrition And Physical Fitness
Nutrition and Physical Fitness as Essential Tools for a Healthy Lifestyle I remember spending hours
at the gym without seeing results. My routines involved two hours cardio plus half an hour of
conditioning combining abs, squats and leg rises. However, my non–smart intake behaviors would
remain, and I would consume junk food nearly every day whilst questioning why I was not seeing
the results I aimed for after spending two and a half hours at the gym every day. Yet the answer to
this question seemed to be far away as I was faraway to follow the right pattern towards physical
fitness. People most of the time endeavor towards a perfect shape without bearing in mind the fact of
combining healthy intake habits for optimal results. For a person to have top outcomes and get

The Diet And Fitness Plan Essay
Diet and Fitness Plan The following project will contain a discussion based on diet and exercise. It
will cover a two–day period of time and feature an overall assessment of physical fitness. Physical
fitness is defined "as a state of physiologic well–being that is achieved through a combination of

due to being under the calorie goal, however, it is important to take a closer look nutrients as

A Personal Reflection On Fitness And Fitness
Prior to this course, fitness to me meant all about your weight. I now know that it is more to it than
just that. Fitness includes exercising, healthy eating, and getting enough rest just to name a few.
There are many ways to measure fitness, such as assessments, time periods of exercise, and the use
of Body Mass Index (BMI). An important component that I have learned during the duration of this
course is that to achieve the appropriate fitness level, it is necessary to mentally discipline yourself.
You must motivate yourself to keep thriving; it takes perseverance. Many of us expect results
overnight, but that is never the case. Consistent self motivation is a must to achieving fitness goals.
At the beginning of this course, my fitness level was what considered to be low. I rarely exercised
and when I did, it was only for short periods of time. Whenever I would go to the gym, I only did
the bare minimum, so of course, I did not get any results. The only time I was really active was
when I was walking around campus to go to my classes. Now, I am much more active. I acquired a
gym membership and try to exercise at least 3 times a week. Along with the membership, my
internship has kept me active as well. I am usually running back and forth between buildings and
chasing little kids all day, things of which I never thought of doing before. I know have habits of
going for 30 minutes jogs around the neighborhood and stretching every morning before I start my
day. Prior to the

The Health And Fitness Epidemic Essay

Facebook, Instagram, and other popular media applications have blown up with fitness pictures,
advice, workouts, and even food recipes. Health club and fitness center locations are at an all–time
high, and the number of memberships have increased with them. So, why now? Why are people so
determined and focused to become healthy? Working out and eating healthy has been scientifically
proven to increase health, help lose weight, lower risk of disease, reduce depression, increase life
expectancy, and to help the individual feel great both physically and mentally. Those are just a few
examples of some truly awesome benefits that help ensure the longest and healthiest life possible.
Today, close to seventy–nine million adults and thirteen million children struggle with obesity. The

one of the leading causes of preventable death. A study, released by the American Cancer Society,
showed that 589,430 Americans die of cancer each year ("Diet"). An estimated 33% of those cancer
deaths were linked to excess body weight, poor nutrition, and the lack of physical activity ("Diet"). In
addition, it displayed that Americans consume more calories today than ever before ("Diet").

Although if you're eating habits are unhealthy changing them would be a good idea. An average
woman who exercises 3.5 days a week (176minutes) will lose more significant amount of weight
than some one who does not exercise at all. But you have to understand that when you are
exercising, you are also replacing fat with muscle and muscle weighs more than fat, but I know I
would be happy if I didn't lose weight and replaced my fat with muscle. Overweight but fit people
generally have half of the death rate than people who are overweight and unfit. People who have

remain leaner.
It does not matter what your level of fitness is, it can always be improved with normal exercise no

Adults should have around thirty to sixty minutes of physical activity four to six times a week. Two
hours and thirty minutes is the minimum a fully developed person needs to lessen the risk of having
some type of chronic disease later in life ("Information").
Physical fitness has two main classifications–performance related and health related. People have
different performance related requirements in accordance with their occupation but all people have
the same health related requirements (The World). Then there are two types ofexercise that helps
tone a person's body while increasing its endurance. These are aerobic and anaerobic. Aerobic
exercise is exercise that uses the muscles and bones. Cardio activities are a good example of this,
such as running or biking. This type of exercise increases the strength of a person's heart and
boosts their lung capacity. Anaerobic exercise is an intense but short amount of exercise
(Payment). Since it is only for a brief amount of time, it does not require the amount of oxygen
aerobic exercise does. Instead it uses glycogen which comes from the sugar in a person's blood.
An example of this exercise is weight lifting or sprinting. A person's requires both anaerobic and

Health And Fitness Essay

  • 1. Essay about Health and Fitness When I graduated from high school, I was introduced to "fast food." The whole summer all I eat was hamburgers, pizza, and unhealthy sandwiches. I quickly went from 150 pounds to 180 pounds. That was all fat and most of it was around my waist line. I realized if I continued this regimen, I would be obese by the time I'm 21 years. I would also be more susceptible to acquiring diseases such as heart disease and cholesterol problems. I joined a local gym and started researching different working techniques and better eating habits. During this period I met numerous people who had similar goals and where willing to share their experiences with me. It seems like every person I spoke to had a different exercising routine. After a few months of...show more content... To insure safety and proper rest time, I do not work out the same body part more then a twice a week. Once I complete my weight lifting session, I stat my cardiovascular workout. This consists of 45 minutes of on the treadmill. The first 10 minutes I start my worm up by doing a fast past walk, then I run at a moderate pace for about 35 minutes. This will insure my cardiovascular levels are maintained and my body fat level is low. Besides my enjoyment for weight lifting and cardiovascular work outs I also stretch after every work out session. According to Iknoian, Therese, stretching is extremely important. When I lift weights my muscles are very tight at the end of my work out. The range of motion is a lot shorter then prior to working out. After every workout session whether its weight lifting or cardiovascular, I stretch for about 15 minutes. This will insure I maintain my flexibility and avoid losing my full range of motion. In addition to stretching after I workout I also stretch prior to weightlifting. This will allow me to conduct my work out session with a minimal possibility of causing injury to myself. In addition to weight lifting and cardiovascular work outs, I eat healthy foods to accommodate my work out routines. There are numerous diets that are imperative to accomplish physical fitness goals. According to Max Muscle Magazine in order to properly intake a sufficient amount Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 11. Personal Statement On Health And Fitness Health and fitness has always been a big part of my life even without knowing it, but the transition changed from sport and athletics to the gym and trying to achieve what I thought was expected of me socially. After a year of lagging progress and nearly giving up I decided to give it one more shot I just needed to go after it a different way. I needed to educate myself on the process I was going to undergo to achieve my goals. So I turned to the internet, more specifically Youtube, it became my saving grace, unbeknownst to me at the time there was a large fitness community waiting for me behind my Youtube search bar, ready to provide anyone who looks with large amounts of information on Fitness and training, healthy eating and dieting and a major source of positive motivation to help get anyone started. But don't put off till tomorrow what you can do today, because when it comes down to it you're only missing out on some of life's better outcomes. Training has proven to help with weight issues, combats health conditions and fight diseases, improve mood, increase energy and it also promotes better sleep so with all these positives why not trade in a little time to gain all of these benefits? The biggest problem that I've found is that many people are getting better at finding excuses not to go, than to go which is increasing the sedentary Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 16. Nutrition And Physical Fitness Nutrition and Physical Fitness as Essential Tools for a Healthy Lifestyle I remember spending hours at the gym without seeing results. My routines involved two hours cardio plus half an hour of conditioning combining abs, squats and leg rises. However, my non–smart intake behaviors would remain, and I would consume junk food nearly every day whilst questioning why I was not seeing the results I aimed for after spending two and a half hours at the gym every day. Yet the answer to this question seemed to be far away as I was faraway to follow the right pattern towards physical fitness. • 18. A Personal Reflection On Fitness And Fitness Prior to this course, fitness to me meant all about your weight. I now know that it is more to it than just that. Fitness includes exercising, healthy eating, and getting enough rest just to name a few. There are many ways to measure fitness, such as assessments, time periods of exercise, and the use of Body Mass Index (BMI). An important component that I have learned during the duration of this course is that to achieve the appropriate fitness level, it is necessary to mentally discipline yourself. You must motivate yourself to keep thriving; it takes perseverance. Many of us expect results overnight, but that is never the case. Consistent self motivation is a must to achieving fitness goals. At the beginning of this course, my fitness level was what considered to be low. I rarely exercised and when I did, it was only for short periods of time. Whenever I would go to the gym, I only did the bare minimum, so of course, I did not get any results. The only time I was really active was when I was walking around campus to go to my classes. Now, I am much more active. I acquired a gym membership and try to exercise at least 3 times a week. Along with the membership, my internship has kept me active as well. I am usually running back and forth between buildings and chasing little kids all day, things of which I never thought of doing before. I know have habits of going for 30 minutes jogs around the neighborhood and stretching every morning before I start my day. Prior to the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
