AFJROTC Program Analysis
I was born and raised in Frisco, Texas until I was fourteen. In 2012, my mother decided to remarry
and moved us to Newnan, Georgia. Since my mom is from Georgia, I had visited several times, but
was terrified to start high school in a new city, nine hundred miles away from my home and friends.
When registering for classes, I decided to join the AFJROTC program. It is this program that has
helped mold me into the young man I am today. ROTC has provided me the opportunity to hold
several leadership positions, including NCOIC Admin and Flight Guide. These positions required
me to speak in public, one of my biggest fears. Not only did I conquer this fear, but I have expanded
my audience. I now broadcast the morning announcements for my entire high school. ROTC also
introduced me to community service. I have participated in over 40 hours of community service
events for our school and surrounding community. While community service work is not always
easy, it is always worth the extra effort. Helping the kids with the Special Olympics was my
favorite. The joy the kids had to compete was amazing. The skills I have learned in AJROTC such
as responsibility, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a young child, I was always taking things apart and trying to put them back together. Even
though I broke numerous things, my mother has always encouraged me to follow my dreams. Today
that dream is engineering. I am especially interested in Robotics. To be able to combine Mechanical,
Electronic, Computer and System Design to create a useful product is extremely intriguing to me. I
believe Georgia Southern can provide me with the knowledge and experience I need to achieve my
goals in Engineering. Georgia Southern is ranked one of the highest Engineering Schools in
Georgia. I am excited to explore all the opportunities available to me at Georgia Southern, including

When you are a senior in high school, your first few months of school are spent taking standardized
test and choosing what colleges you will apply to. The decision of selecting a college that you will
spend four consecutive years at furthering your education, and getting ready for the real world, is a
decision that takes a lot of thought. When we look into Universities we not only look at them at an
academic standpoint, but we also look at what a school has to offer that will make us feel as if we
belong there, and that it is somewhere we can call home. A lot of students choose to attend Southern
Universities because of all the wonderful things they have to offer, and because of the family
orientated vibe that they give off. There are multiple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Holding the number one spot for Southern Universities is Rolling College, which is located in
Florida, followed by Mercer University, located in Georgia, which is then followed by The Citadel,
which is located in South Carolina. These top three schools amongst the list of all those who follow
have exceptional academic programs. Rollins College has a student–faculty ratio 10:1, with less
than twenty students in each class. Psychology, Marketing, Business Management, Social Sciences,
and Journalism are only a few of the top majors at Rollins College. Mercer University is recognized
for their respective fields. Qualified students that attend Mercer University that are interested in
pursuing their law degree have the opportunity to obtain a Bachelor's degree as well as their Law
degree in six years by enrolling in the three plus three Accelerated Law Degree Program. The
Citadel offers five academic programs which are: Business, Education, Engineering, Humanities
and Social Sciences, and Science and Mathematics. Because of their strong academic achievement,
they have high graduation rates. The Citadel is an all male school and is military structured.

Personal Narrative: My Identity As A Foreign Language
In high school, you are required to have two credit hours of a foreign language. Coming from a
small school, my options were limited to Spanish, French, and German. I ended up taking Spanish
which was an experience all in itself. Also in high school, you are required to have four credit hours
in a Language Arts/English. In the end taking these classes affected how I perceive things in the
world and also how I react to things. But when I was a Freshman, I also took a trip to Haiti where I
learned phrases in their language that I still use and remember today. I'll admit it... I am nowhere
near fluent in Haitian Creole or Spanish. However, both of these languages have and will continue
to shape my identity as a person. I associate Haitian Creole ... Show more content on

For example, when I was in middle school I was known as the girl with no accent. People thought I
was from another state, that's how clearly I spoke. As I got older I started to acquire a more natural
southern accent. The reason I did not speak with a southern accent is because it was stigmatized
with being unintelligent. I came to realize that the wisest people I know have the strongest accents.
Now I usually speak with a heavier southern accent around my family and if I am helping or
volunteering somewhere. Having a southern accent in these situations makes me feel more relatable
and compassionate towards others. There is also another form of English that I am fluent in... puns.
A pun is a play on words and I do that a significant amount. In the the past thirty minutes alone I
have made eight puns. You may not consider this a language, but I have mastered this art and use it
only a daily basis. How does this affect my identity? It adds on to my humorous and light hearted
personality. Even if I can't speak fluent Haitian Creole or spanish, aspects of those languages
impacts me on a daily basis. Even if you don't consider puns as a legitimate language, it is a huge
part of who I am and how I communicate. These languages have made me the person I am

Magnet Program Essay
Some teachers say that they have had the dream of being a teacher their entire life. I on the other
hand would not strive for this dream until my second semester of college at the College of Southern
Nevada, and I often ponder how different my life would have been if I would have had a teaching
end goal from the beginning. The pathway of teaching revealed itself to me in high school, but that
was not the aisle I want to go down at the time. At Clark High School, there is a magnet program
known as Teacher Education Academy at Clark High School (T.E.A.C.H.), but I was not in this
specific magnet program since I had no plan of becoming a teacher. The magnet program I was in at
Clark High School was Academy of Math, Science, and Applied Technology (A.M.S.A.T.), and
despite there being a mathematic course within the program and me wanting to become a math
teacher presently, I was in the science lane. My previous ambition was to become a scientist that
would aid finding a cure for cancer and make a change in the world. Despite seeking the science
side of things, I have always been good at math and I had my wonderful high school math teachers
Mrs. Jordan and Mrs. Arquette to thank for that.

helped me along the way and showed me that I am not wasting my time with these classes and with

Why I Want To Attend College
My first choice college was the University of Connecticut. But, I was not admitted to the main
campus. I then made the choice to attend [current college] over UConn's Stamford campus.
I had envisioned that attending college somewhere 600+ miles from home would be the perfect way
to enhance my life experience. But, as tough as it is to admit a mistake, my beliefs that I would be
happy in a Southern school and that I would not miss my family and friends in Connecticut proved
incorrect. Moreover, my desire to challenge myself academically – while latent in high school –
came alive in college and I found myself, surprisingly, desiring far more rigor than my college
offered.
In relation to attending a school in the South, my college lacked diversity and I just I didn't fit into
the Southern social scene as easily as I had hoped. My cultural and political beliefs definitely made
me an outsider. I soon longed for my family and friends back home. ... Show more content on

This was a great way to spend my time, until I ran out of work to do. I didn't feel challenged
academically. By the midpoint of the first semester I had acquired a 4.000 GPA, and maintained it
for the remainder of the semester. Never in high school did I have straight A's, but somehow in
college I was doing less work, spending less time in class, and getting higher grades than ever
before. Maybe it's because the high school I went to was extremely competitive, but I found myself
underwhelmed and bored in my studies. I began to really question whether I was getting the higher
education I deserved. I decided to set new academic goals that challenged me more. I came to the
conclusion that I would be get a much better education, be more intellectually challenged, and much
happier If I transferred to

Classroom Diversity Statement
I grew up in an city that is home to five top tier private colleges and has a higher than national
average household income. As a city that has banned fast food within its limits, prohibits overnight
street parking, and is referred to as, "The City of Trees and PhDs," the sheer description of
Claremont, California offers a generic picture of elitism. Claremont, however, is a different type of
southern California town. Spending 18 years in this small suburban town, I came to appreciate
Claremont as a strong community that consistently used its privilege to exhibit the most altruism. I

The community–based culture of my hometown first motivated my desire to help those unable to
help themselves. Growing up around educators of all levels, I had a great value for learning instilled
in me. Claremont has a way of inspiring a need for knowledge and gives emphasis on using
knowledge to enhance a community or world at large. Having one public high school, Claremont
funneled students from all backgrounds into a central hub. Since students from neighboring towns
would join Claremont High School, a diverse student body was created. Unfortunately, Claremont,
in general, lacked diversity. Yet, I appreciated the surrounding southern California locations,
introducing me to a variety of communities, some purely Spanish or Mandarin speaking. My
experiences in Claremont drives my desire to build a strong sense of community. I have been
grateful to grow up in a place that impacted me to such a high degree, and my exposure to a variety

Racism And Discrimination During The Civil War
Racism and discrimination in the United States has been a major issue since the colonial and slavery
era. White Americans were given privileges like voting rights, education, full citizenship, influential
political power, and etc. whereas those same privileges were not granted to African Americans and
other persons of color. After the Civil War, the 13th Amendment in 1865, legally abolished slavery
and that is where the start of racial tensions began. Many things like grandfather clauses, lynching,
poll taxes, Jim Crow laws, and organizations, like the Ku Klux Klan, came about and racial
stratification was systemically enforced to suppress blacks. By the 1950s, race relations in the
United States were getting worst and threatened the image of peacefulness in America. Instead of
the believable "picture perfect" definition that American character was portrayed to be, it was really
constructed of major struggles between whites and blacks in the South. Jim Crow laws were being
enforced from 1876 to 1965 and they mandated the idea of "separate but equal" which required that
public places, like schools, have separate facilities for blacks and whites. But in 1954, in the court
case of Brown v. Board of Education, school segregation was considered unconstitutional. Though
there was massive resistance in other states in the Deep South, Arkansas was the first state to slowly
begin integration in segregated schools. The article, Not Quite Black and White: School

The Colored Junior College was established to provide an opportunity for African–Americans to
receive college training. The Junior College progressed so fast that by 1931, it became a member of
the Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and was approved by the Southern Association
of Colleges. In the summer of 1934, the Houston School Board changed the junior college to a four–
year college and the name to Houston College for Negroes. When the university opened its doors in
September 1947, it had 2,300 students, two schools, one division and one college – the Law School,
the Pharmacy School, the Vocational Division, and the College of Arts and Sciences. Responding to
the changing times, in 1973, the 63rd Legislature designated Texas Southern University as a special
purpose institution for urban programming. As a result, four more academic units were added – the

Southern Illinois History
As seniors in high school, our minds are all about graduation and what the next step in our lives are
going to be. Many students plan on going to college after they graduate; however, deciding what
college to go to is one of the hardest decisions most seniors have to make. I have narrowed it down
to two colleges, The University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University. After close examination
of the factors of the history of the school, admission, tuition, campus, and academics, I decided
rather then going to The University of Illinois I should attend Southern Illinois University.

people. The University of Illinois was founded in 1867 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University both have beautiful campus's. The
University of Illinois is located in the middle of Urbana and Champaign area. For those who may
not know where this is, it is surrounded by cornfields. Of course the two cities are right there, but
once the city limits come to an end, the only view is cornfields and nothing else. However, getting
over the fact that it is surrounded by cornfields, the campus itself is amazing. Since the University is
quite old, the buildings have kept the same architect as before. There are twenty–two university
resident halls and fifteen private housing buildings. The dorm halls are not too far away from the
academic buildings, but on a cold, winter day it may feel like the buildings are miles away. During
the winter, they receive a lot of snow. The weather at the University is similar to Chicago's weather.
Besides the weather, at the center of the campus there is a quad and a bell tower. The quad is
unusual. When they first built the campus, in the center of the building, there was a grass covered
area. As the college grew, this became the quad. The quad is used for students to walk to class and
relax in. The University noticed as the students were walking through the quad, the grass was
getting worn out and just turning to mud. So, the University decided to put sidewalks where they

Personal Narrative: Red Double Doors
I remember it like it was yesterday. August 25, 2014 was the day that hundreds of freshmen feared. I

what all of the fuss was about. It was 6:45 and while entering those purple double doors, I was
feeling mixed emotions. I was scared of what I was going to see, how I looked to other people, and
tired because I stayed up til 2:00 thinking about this day. It was pretty much like middle school; you

For an example, Curramulka Primary School, if it were to close there it would have an enormous
effect on the community. The town's population will go downwards, for reasons that families would
move closer to the school their child/ren attend. Whereas in Port Vincent, a school closure would
not affect the community as much as it is a retirement community, not so much to raise a young
family. Also it is also a holiday town, so the school closing wouldn't affect the community as much
as it would in Curramulka.
Paragraph 3: The effects of small school education on students? Talk about the pros/cons
Weighing up to establish what is the best education for a student, a small school education or a
larger school education. Some of the pros of small school education are that there is more one on
one time between the students and teachers. Which means that the students are not receiving the
extra help that they might need, compared to the students at a larger school.
A negative about small school education is that the students are affected on the social side. At a
small school there are only a few students that are the same age as others in the school. Students are
extremely limited to friendship groups.

2013, 2013–2014, and 2014–2015. There are also over twenty different school clubs/activities that
students can participate in at the school. It also states on the school website that of out of all the
students that graduate at this high school, about 80% of them go to college. I will now talk about the

Personal Narrative: Gibson Southern High School
Fear. As I walked into the huge, unfamiliar building of Gibson Southern High School on my first
day of freshmen year, I shook with terror. New teachers, new people, new classes, and a new
environment that I yearned to explore, but anxiety filled my body. I had previously attended
Haubstadt Community School, where I finally felt comfortable and now everything seemed
frightening and different. Although my body told me not to, I forced myself to push through the day
with a positive attitude. After all, this would be my home for the next four years.
I managed to survive my first day of being a freshmen with only minor issues. The most
embarrassing part of my day claimed my late arrival to nearly every class period. I couldn't
remember where any

I took a risk when I decided to apply for College of Southern Nevada High School. Taking classes
that counted towards both high school and college credit appealed to me, but I knew that the courses
would be demanding. I've had setbacks, but I've also had triumphs. I put too much on my plate: I
accepted a job as the music department assistant on top of my other job, was persuaded into joining
We The People, took a couple of difficult classes online, and decided to take a dance class on top of
all of it. In addition, I was laurel class president and I had just been called to youth committee. I also
experienced some emotional issues during the first half of the semester that impacted my happiness

Tucson High Magnet School Case
Tucson High Magnet School was established in 1892 as part of the Tucson Unified School District
in Tucson, Arizona. It is the oldest high school in Arizona and the largest high school in southern
Arizona. Its location has changed and moved over time;
On September 10th, 1906, the school was located in the Plaza School at 13th Street and 4th avenue.
A few weeks after that, it was relocated to a two–room building located on East 10th Street.
In 1908, there was a final relocation to the newly constructed Tucson High Magnet School Building
on East 6th Street.
Lyman and Place were hired as architects for the Tucson High School Main Building in March of
1921, following the successful $750,000 bond issue for the new Tucson High Magnet School. They
began construction in 1923 and it was completed in 1924.
The first designs submitted were to be for a school housing 1,000 students, but revised estimates of
school population raised this figure to 1,500.
In 1925, the grandstand on the athletic field to the west of the school was constructed by R. H.
Martin at a cost of $10,950.
In 1939, the annex to Tucson High Magnet School was constructed at a cost of $273,346 and it
underwent two remodeling projects, one in 1945 (for $18,392) and the other in 1951 (for $86,795).
The cafeteria was constructed in 1945 at a cost of $19,585.85 and the old gymnasium was
remodeled into classrooms in 1948 on a contract for $47,900.90.
Part B:
Tucson High Magnet School's total enrollment is 3,118 students.

A Dear Friend Of Mine Has Faced One Of The Hardest Struggles
A dear friend of mine has faced one of the hardest struggles in the world. She has lost a friend, that
she would have done anything for, to suicide. However, she was not able to attend the funeral.
California High School has strict rules when it comes to attendance. If a student misses more than
16 hours of school, the equivalent of two days, they will no longer be eligible for Held harmless.
Held harmless is an exemption from all final exams, so naturally all students strive to keep their
eligibility. Held harmless should be modified so students do not have to miss important life events
such as: funerals, orthodontist appointments, and doctor appointments. Although Held harmless has
been a good addition to the school, it has negatively ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is no real history behind the problem. However, we do know that the issue has been present
since Held harmless has been available. The issue originated when the attendance rate of schools
were plummeting. Kids continued to skip school which ultimately hurts the school and themselves.
The same kids that skipped a lot of days were the same kids that were struggling on final exams.
Schools realized they needed to jump to action, so they discovered Held harmless, a way to recover
school attendance and a way for kids to exempt final exams from their report card. According to the
Missouri Department, "A student is counted only for the period of time that he/she is in actual
attendance at school." Attendance is a big deal in the school system which is why Held harmless
was created. Negative effects can vary on a large scale. It can include affecting kids with braces
because they have to schedule appointments for after school which can interfere with after school
sports. If a kid is sick, they normally will feel like they absolutely have to come to school which
puts other kids at getting ill. Another negative effect is kids having to carry around the guilt of
missing a family member's funeral to save their Held harmless. However, athletes that have been

My Experience At Georgia Southern University

to go to college and become either wanted to be a vet or a kindergarten teacher. After taking the
Holland Code Career test, provided by truity.com, I found that being a kindergarten teacher would
be the better option. For choosing a college, I decided to pick one that I had recently toured during
spring break. I had really enjoyed my tour of Georgia Southern University and it has just about
everything I need in a college.
Georgia Southern University is located in Statesboro, Georgia, about an hour away from Savannah.
The school is one of the state's largest education centers and prides itself on their achievements as a
school. Georgia Southern is a "large–scale, small feel" type of university. The school has about a
fifty percent acceptance rate and as of 2015, the school had 17,963 total undergrads and 3,495
degree seeking freshmen (College Board). The average tuition cost for an instate student is $23,972.
Georgia Southern offers a wide variety of degrees including those that I am interested in, such as
Early Childhood Education, and Child and Family Development. Along with the number of degrees
available, the university also accepts a wide range of scholarships. Ones that would apply to me
would be the HOPE Scholarship, the Southern Scholars Showcase and the Scholar's Day. The

High School Hockey Research Paper
Many high school students participate in extracurricular activities like playing sports. Participation
in high school sports varies from sport to sport, by state to state, and differs for boys and girls. The
location quotient, which is state participants divided by total state enrollment which is then divided
by national participants divided by national enrollment, is a tool that can be used to find where the
highest concentrations of participation are located.
When looking at the map depicting the spatial distribution of boys high school hockey participation,
it can be seen that this sport had the least amount of participation in comparison to the other three
sports examined. Most of the participation associated with boys high school hockey is located in
Northeastern states aside from California and Colorado. The fact that the most participation is
happening in Northeastern states is most likely due to the climate in that area; winters may be longer
and colder allowing for people to utilize frozen lakes or ponds to ice skate and play hockey which
could popularize the sport for high school boys. Many of the states with high participation for boys
high school hockey border Canada which could also be a reason for the high participation due to the
popularity of the sport in Canada. Participation for boys high school lacrosse encompasses ... Show

Going To Go To College
College is an important decision everyone has to make after they have finished high school, but if
someone decides to go to college then they also have to decide what college they are going to go to.
College is something everyone should decide to go to because college can get people really good
jobs and college expands knowledge, wisdom, and responsibility which will benefit people in the
real world. To decide to go to college a person must have some motivation and dedication to reach
their goals and become successful in life. Southern Illinois University and Eastern Illinois
University are two both really good colleges that anyone can choose to go to. These two colleges
have individually benefitted all of the students very significantly to be ready for the outside world
and to be prepared for the careers they have worked for. Southern Illinois University is located on
Lincoln Drive Carbondale, Illinois 626901 (About SIU, 2017). Their college mascot is the saluki,
which is a unique type of dog breed (Southern Illinois, 2017). The college is public and it is also a
four year college. The highest degree you can get is the doctorate degree, which requires a lot of
hard work and dedication. If you do strive to receive a doctorate degree, then it will eventually pay
off because it is the highest degree and will get you a very high paying, serious career. The setting of
the college is a small urban college, which means this college is an institution for advanced, higher
learning (Naviance, 2017). If anyone is involved in sports this college also offers it and you could
maybe even make that into your future career if that is your type of thing. The cost of going to
Southern Illinois College is a lot, but you should not let that get to you. The cost of in state tuition
and fees are $11,917 and out of state tuition and fees are $24,215; the reason out of state tuition fees
are a lot more expensive than the in state tuition and fees is because if you live out of state then you
have to pay more unless you want to move completely to the state you are wanting to attend college

The Pros And Cons Of High School Colleges
Many high school students the states of Georgia occasionally think about where they should go for
college. Some students strive for the Ivy Leagues, the most prestigious colleges in the country.
However, I think that attending a school within the state of Georgia is a much better option than
heading to a school like Harvard. There are many reasons for my claim, but the most important three
are how each school accepts Advanced Placement credit, the rigor of high school coursework, and
especially the cost. The first major reason why I think state schools are a better option than Ivy
Leagues is AP credit acceptance. Generally speaking, all Georgia public colleges accept AP credit.
This is a major deciding factor for Georgia high school students for several reasons since this can
save them as much as a year worth of college tuition. Firstly, they can graduate earlier ... Show more

13). I certainly wouldn't want my child working his or her tail off in AP classes only to find out they
are of no value at an Ivy League school. Secondly, they recommend, not require, certain classes to
be taken (Harvard University par. 15) by high school students. This can lead to a lot of confusion.
Since there is nothing official on what is required to get into Harvard, this may lead to students
taking classes in high school that are not required for them to graduate. Ivy League schools say they
will give each individual student a full ride if he or she manages to get accepted. However, that is
only the case if the income of the student's parents is less than $65,000 a year (Harvard Magazine
par. 2). That's a very misleading tactic to use against students since they would probably have to pay
a large portion of the Harvard's tuition if the student's parents make more than that figure. I would

Weimar's Nursing Program Analysis
"Which way to go?" Countless aspiring men and women oft repeat this question in their senior year
of high school. The future seems daunting with its numerous choices and decisions. The question
that is most predominant in their minds is which college do I choose? With there being close to
51,000 colleges this can seem quite an overwhelming task. "Very rarely is there going to be a clear
cut 'yes' when it comes to making a college decision," says Weichman, who specializes in
adolescent counseling in Newport Beach, Calif. "It's a huge commitment and any doubt in their
decision process often increases their stress [and] anxiety–and they begin to question whether
they're making the right decision or not." With all these factors and forces working ... Show more

Weimar's nursing program has just begun this year, nonetheless it already has many strengths and
superb qualities. One of their unique perspectives on nursing is the natural approach that they teach.
It is not just about the medicine and all things sterile, it's also about herbs, hydrotherapy, and
preventative medicine. Weimar's aim is, "To heal a hurting world" and this is definitely incorporated
into their nursing program. Southern's nursing program has been up and running for several years
now and they a large amount of clout with the neighboring hospitals, so it is fairly easy to find a job
once you have graduated from there. About 90% of nursing students complete this program and
procure a job. One of Southern's unique aspects of their nursing program is that they only offer a BS
nursing program, not an AS degree. This doesn't mean that you can't become an AS nurse, but that
once you have become an AS nurse you can start working while continuing going to school, for one
more year, as you obtain your BS degree. Both Weimar and Southern have practical, hands on labs,
so you learn about the nursing experience before you step out on the field. Both nursing programs
have a total of 77–79 class credits you need to acquire in order to graduate. One of the main
differences between the two nursing programs is that Weimar is only approved, while Southern is
accredited. To some this may be a big deal, then to others it doesn't matter. The main difference
between the two – approval and Accreditation– is if you want to get a job with the government (such
as The Department of Defense and Veterans Administration) they won't accept nursing students
from unaccredited schools. However, if you don't want to work for the government you don't need
to go to an accredited school, an approved school will

Transition To College

challenges that I will have to make the right choice about on my own. Now when I entered high

AFJROTC Program Analysis

  • 1. AFJROTC Program Analysis I was born and raised in Frisco, Texas until I was fourteen. In 2012, my mother decided to remarry and moved us to Newnan, Georgia. Since my mom is from Georgia, I had visited several times, but was terrified to start high school in a new city, nine hundred miles away from my home and friends. When registering for classes, I decided to join the AFJROTC program. It is this program that has helped mold me into the young man I am today. ROTC has provided me the opportunity to hold several leadership positions, including NCOIC Admin and Flight Guide. These positions required me to speak in public, one of my biggest fears. Not only did I conquer this fear, but I have expanded my audience. I now broadcast the morning announcements for my entire high school. ROTC also introduced me to community service. I have participated in over 40 hours of community service events for our school and surrounding community. While community service work is not always easy, it is always worth the extra effort. Helping the kids with the Special Olympics was my favorite. The joy the kids had to compete was amazing. The skills I have learned in AJROTC such as responsibility, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a young child, I was always taking things apart and trying to put them back together. Even though I broke numerous things, my mother has always encouraged me to follow my dreams. Today that dream is engineering. I am especially interested in Robotics. To be able to combine Mechanical, Electronic, Computer and System Design to create a useful product is extremely intriguing to me. I believe Georgia Southern can provide me with the knowledge and experience I need to achieve my goals in Engineering. Georgia Southern is ranked one of the highest Engineering Schools in Georgia. I am excited to explore all the opportunities available to me at Georgia Southern, including research and the Honors ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Elephant Stomp Research Paper When you are a senior in high school, your first few months of school are spent taking standardized test and choosing what colleges you will apply to. The decision of selecting a college that you will spend four consecutive years at furthering your education, and getting ready for the real world, is a decision that takes a lot of thought. When we look into Universities we not only look at them at an academic standpoint, but we also look at what a school has to offer that will make us feel as if we belong there, and that it is somewhere we can call home. A lot of students choose to attend Southern Universities because of all the wonderful things they have to offer, and because of the family orientated vibe that they give off. There are multiple ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Holding the number one spot for Southern Universities is Rolling College, which is located in Florida, followed by Mercer University, located in Georgia, which is then followed by The Citadel, which is located in South Carolina. These top three schools amongst the list of all those who follow have exceptional academic programs. Rollins College has a student–faculty ratio 10:1, with less than twenty students in each class. Psychology, Marketing, Business Management, Social Sciences, and Journalism are only a few of the top majors at Rollins College. Mercer University is recognized for their respective fields. Qualified students that attend Mercer University that are interested in pursuing their law degree have the opportunity to obtain a Bachelor's degree as well as their Law degree in six years by enrolling in the three plus three Accelerated Law Degree Program. The Citadel offers five academic programs which are: Business, Education, Engineering, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Science and Mathematics. Because of their strong academic achievement, they have high graduation rates. The Citadel is an all male school and is military structured. • 3. Personal Narrative: My Identity As A Foreign Language In high school, you are required to have two credit hours of a foreign language. Coming from a small school, my options were limited to Spanish, French, and German. I ended up taking Spanish which was an experience all in itself. Also in high school, you are required to have four credit hours in a Language Arts/English. In the end taking these classes affected how I perceive things in the world and also how I react to things. But when I was a Freshman, I also took a trip to Haiti where I learned phrases in their language that I still use and remember today. I'll admit it... I am nowhere near fluent in Haitian Creole or Spanish. However, both of these languages have and will continue to shape my identity as a person. I associate Haitian Creole ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, when I was in middle school I was known as the girl with no accent. People thought I was from another state, that's how clearly I spoke. As I got older I started to acquire a more natural southern accent. The reason I did not speak with a southern accent is because it was stigmatized with being unintelligent. I came to realize that the wisest people I know have the strongest accents. Now I usually speak with a heavier southern accent around my family and if I am helping or volunteering somewhere. Having a southern accent in these situations makes me feel more relatable and compassionate towards others. There is also another form of English that I am fluent in... puns. A pun is a play on words and I do that a significant amount. In the the past thirty minutes alone I have made eight puns. You may not consider this a language, but I have mastered this art and use it only a daily basis. How does this affect my identity? It adds on to my humorous and light hearted personality. Even if I can't speak fluent Haitian Creole or spanish, aspects of those languages impacts me on a daily basis. Even if you don't consider puns as a legitimate language, it is a huge part of who I am and how I communicate. These languages have made me the person I am ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Magnet Program Essay Some teachers say that they have had the dream of being a teacher their entire life. I on the other hand would not strive for this dream until my second semester of college at the College of Southern Nevada, and I often ponder how different my life would have been if I would have had a teaching end goal from the beginning. The pathway of teaching revealed itself to me in high school, but that was not the aisle I want to go down at the time. At Clark High School, there is a magnet program known as Teacher Education Academy at Clark High School (T.E.A.C.H.), but I was not in this specific magnet program since I had no plan of becoming a teacher. The magnet program I was in at Clark High School was Academy of Math, Science, and Applied Technology (A.M.S.A.T.), and despite there being a mathematic course within the program and me wanting to become a math teacher presently, I was in the science lane. My previous ambition was to become a scientist that would aid finding a cure for cancer and make a change in the world. Despite seeking the science side of things, I have always been good at math and I had my wonderful high school math teachers Mrs. Jordan and Mrs. Arquette to thank for that. • 6. Why I Want To Attend College My first choice college was the University of Connecticut. But, I was not admitted to the main campus. I then made the choice to attend [current college] over UConn's Stamford campus. I had envisioned that attending college somewhere 600+ miles from home would be the perfect way to enhance my life experience. But, as tough as it is to admit a mistake, my beliefs that I would be happy in a Southern school and that I would not miss my family and friends in Connecticut proved incorrect. Moreover, my desire to challenge myself academically – while latent in high school – came alive in college and I found myself, surprisingly, desiring far more rigor than my college offered. In relation to attending a school in the South, my college lacked diversity and I just I didn't fit into the Southern social scene as easily as I had hoped. My cultural and political beliefs definitely made me an outsider. I soon longed for my family and friends back home. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was a great way to spend my time, until I ran out of work to do. I didn't feel challenged academically. By the midpoint of the first semester I had acquired a 4.000 GPA, and maintained it for the remainder of the semester. Never in high school did I have straight A's, but somehow in college I was doing less work, spending less time in class, and getting higher grades than ever before. Maybe it's because the high school I went to was extremely competitive, but I found myself underwhelmed and bored in my studies. I began to really question whether I was getting the higher education I deserved. I decided to set new academic goals that challenged me more. • 7. Classroom Diversity Statement I grew up in an city that is home to five top tier private colleges and has a higher than national average household income. As a city that has banned fast food within its limits, prohibits overnight street parking, and is referred to as, "The City of Trees and PhDs," the sheer description of Claremont, California offers a generic picture of elitism. Claremont, however, is a different type of southern California town. Spending 18 years in this small suburban town, I came to appreciate Claremont as a strong community that consistently used its privilege to exhibit the most altruism. I found my first passion for volunteering with the Prison Library Project, a group with the mission of providing inmates around the nation with educational and self–healing reading ... Growing up around educators of all levels, I had a great value for learning instilled in me. Claremont has a way of inspiring a need for knowledge and gives emphasis on using knowledge to enhance a community or world at large. Having one public high school, Claremont funneled students from all backgrounds into a central hub. Since students from neighboring towns would join Claremont High School, a diverse student body was created. Unfortunately, Claremont, in general, lacked diversity. Yet, I appreciated the surrounding southern California locations, introducing me to a variety of communities, some purely Spanish or Mandarin speaking. My experiences in Claremont drives my desire to build a strong sense of community. • 8. Racism And Discrimination During The Civil War Racism and discrimination in the United States has been a major issue since the colonial and slavery era. White Americans were given privileges like voting rights, education, full citizenship, influential political power, and etc. whereas those same privileges were not granted to African Americans and other persons of color. After the Civil War, the 13th Amendment in 1865, legally abolished slavery and that is where the start of racial tensions began. Many things like grandfather clauses, lynching, poll taxes, Jim Crow laws, and organizations, like the Ku Klux Klan, came about and racial stratification was systemically enforced to suppress blacks. By the 1950s, race relations in the United States were getting worst and threatened the image of peacefulness in America. Instead of the believable "picture perfect" definition that American character was portrayed to be, it was really constructed of major struggles between whites and blacks in the South. Jim Crow laws were being enforced from 1876 to 1965 and they mandated the idea of "separate but equal" which required that public places, like schools, have separate facilities for blacks and whites. But in 1954, in the court case of Brown v. Board of Education, school segregation was considered unconstitutional. Though there was massive resistance in other states in the Deep South, Arkansas was the first state to slowly begin integration in segregated schools. The Junior College progressed so fast that by 1931, it became a member of the Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and was approved by the Southern Association of Colleges. In the summer of 1934, the Houston School Board changed the junior college to a four– year college and the name to Houston College for Negroes. When the university opened its doors in September 1947, it had 2,300 students, two schools, one division and one college – the Law School, the Pharmacy School, the Vocational Division, and the College of Arts and Sciences. Responding to the changing times, in 1973, the 63rd Legislature designated Texas Southern University as a special purpose institution for urban programming. Many students plan on going to college after they graduate; however, deciding what college to go to is one of the hardest decisions most seniors have to make. I have narrowed it down to two colleges, The University of Illinois and Southern Illinois University. After close examination of the factors of the history of the school, admission, tuition, campus, and academics, I decided rather then going to The University of Illinois I should attend Southern Illinois University. The University of Illinois is located in the middle of Urbana and Champaign area. For those who may not know where this is, it is surrounded by cornfields. Of course the two cities are right there, but once the city limits come to an end, the only view is cornfields and nothing else. However, getting over the fact that it is surrounded by cornfields, the campus itself is amazing. Since the University is quite old, the buildings have kept the same architect as before. There are twenty–two university resident halls and fifteen private housing buildings. The dorm halls are not too far away from the academic buildings, but on a cold, winter day it may feel like the buildings are miles away. During the winter, they receive a lot of snow. The weather at the University is similar to Chicago's weather. Besides the weather, at the center of the campus there is a quad and a bell tower. The quad is unusual. When they first built the campus, in the center of the building, there was a grass covered area. As the college grew, this became the quad. The quad is used for students to walk to class and relax in. The University noticed as the students were walking through the quad, the grass was getting worn out and just turning to mud. Some of the pros of small school education are that there is more one on one time between the students and teachers. Which means that the students are not receiving the extra help that they might need, compared to the students at a larger school. A negative about small school education is that the students are affected on the social side. At a small school there are only a few students that are the same age as others in the school. College is something everyone should decide to go to because college can get people really good jobs and college expands knowledge, wisdom, and responsibility which will benefit people in the real world. To decide to go to college a person must have some motivation and dedication to reach their goals and become successful in life. Southern Illinois University and Eastern Illinois University are two both really good colleges that anyone can choose to go to. These two colleges have individually benefitted all of the students very significantly to be ready for the outside world and to be prepared for the careers they have worked for. Southern Illinois University is located on Lincoln Drive Carbondale, Illinois 626901 (About SIU, 2017). Their college mascot is the saluki, which is a unique type of dog breed (Southern Illinois, 2017). The college is public and it is also a four year college. The highest degree you can get is the doctorate degree, which requires a lot of hard work and dedication. If you do strive to receive a doctorate degree, then it will eventually pay off because it is the highest degree and will get you a very high paying, serious career. The setting of the college is a small urban college, which means this college is an institution for advanced, higher learning (Naviance, 2017). If anyone is involved in sports this college also offers it and you could maybe even make that into your future career if that is your type of thing. The cost of going to Southern Illinois College is a lot, but you should not let that get to you. The cost of in state tuition and fees are $11,917 and out of state tuition and fees are $24,215; the reason out of state tuition fees are a lot more expensive than the in state tuition and fees is because if you live out of state then you have to pay more unless you want to move completely to the state you are wanting to attend college at (Welcome to Family Connections, 2017). The room and board costs add up to be $9,694 and the books you need to study for your classes add up ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 35. The Pros And Cons Of High School Colleges Many high school students the states of Georgia occasionally think about where they should go for college. Some students strive for the Ivy Leagues, the most prestigious colleges in the country. However, I think that attending a school within the state of Georgia is a much better option than heading to a school like Harvard. There are many reasons for my claim, but the most important three are how each school accepts Advanced Placement credit, the rigor of high school coursework, and especially the cost. The first major reason why I think state schools are a better option than Ivy Leagues is AP credit acceptance. Generally speaking, all Georgia public colleges accept AP credit. This is a major deciding factor for Georgia high school students for several reasons since this can save them as much as a year worth of college tuition. Firstly, they can graduate earlier ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 13). I certainly wouldn't want my child working his or her tail off in AP classes only to find out they are of no value at an Ivy League school. Secondly, they recommend, not require, certain classes to be taken (Harvard University par. 15) by high school students. This can lead to a lot of confusion. Since there is nothing official on what is required to get into Harvard, this may lead to students taking classes in high school that are not required for them to graduate. Ivy League schools say they will give each individual student a full ride if he or she manages to get accepted. However, that is only the case if the income of the student's parents is less than $65,000 a year (Harvard Magazine par. 2). That's a very misleading tactic to use against students since they would probably have to pay a large portion of the Harvard's tuition if the student's parents make more than that figure. I would want to hold on to as much money as I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Weimar's Nursing Program Analysis "Which way to go?" Countless aspiring men and women oft repeat this question in their senior year of high school. The future seems daunting with its numerous choices and decisions. The question that is most predominant in their minds is which college do I choose? With there being close to 51,000 colleges this can seem quite an overwhelming task. "Very rarely is there going to be a clear cut 'yes' when it comes to making a college decision," says Weichman, who specializes in adolescent counseling in Newport Beach, Calif. "It's a huge commitment and any doubt in their decision process often increases their stress [and] anxiety–and they begin to question whether they're making the right decision or not." With all these factors and forces working ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Weimar's nursing program has just begun this year, nonetheless it already has many strengths and superb qualities. One of their unique perspectives on nursing is the natural approach that they teach. It is not just about the medicine and all things sterile, it's also about herbs, hydrotherapy, and preventative medicine. Weimar's aim is, "To heal a hurting world" and this is definitely incorporated into their nursing program. Southern's nursing program has been up and running for several years now and they a large amount of clout with the neighboring hospitals, so it is fairly easy to find a job once you have graduated from there. About 90% of nursing students complete this program and procure a job. One of Southern's unique aspects of their nursing program is that they only offer a BS nursing program, not an AS degree. This doesn't mean that you can't become an AS nurse, but that once you have become an AS nurse you can start working while continuing going to school, for one more year, as you obtain your BS degree. Both Weimar and Southern have practical, hands on labs, so you learn about the nursing experience before you step out on the field. Both nursing programs have a total of 77–79 class credits you need to acquire in order to graduate. One of the main differences between the two nursing programs is that Weimar is only approved, while Southern is accredited. To some this may be a big deal, then to others it doesn't matter. The main difference between the two – approval and Accreditation– is if you want to get a job with the government (such as The Department of Defense and Veterans Administration) they won't accept nursing students from unaccredited schools. However, if you don't want to work for the government you don't need to go to an accredited school, an approved school will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Transition To College Ever since I was a little girl my parents have been saving and preparing themselves for the day they send me off to college. I have a long line of family members that graduated from Southern University. I knew for a fact that Southern was going to be the school of my choice. August 22, 2012 was the first day of my freshman year in high school. Once I entered high school the only thing I could think about my graduation and my matriculation at Southern. I couldn't think of anything more stressful than transitioning from high school to college. When I was in middle school a lot of people told me about high school and how it was hard. The things they told me made me think going to high school would be a huge step, well it has nothing on college. No more depending on people, I have to get it on my own. Now that I am in college, I will be faced with many challenges that I will have to make the right choice about on my own. Now when I entered high school I thought it was going to be a breeze. I'd make new friends, learn new things, and embark on a new path in life that I never step foot on. Well, I was wrong! High school was horrible. The only thing that gave me joy was band, because I felt like I finally found somewhere I belonged. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ernst Green was one of the nine African Americans that were carefully chosen to take part in the desegregation of Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas (Little Rock). The Nine African American students that were picked for this brave action were called the Little Rock Nine. These students were a massive part in the Civil Rights Movement. They walked up to Central High School surrounded by 22 soldiers (Smiley). This became an everyday thing for the African American students. On September 25, things went on as normal; the kids went to school as usual. Some protested and some left and some people spoke out on the situation. One sixteen year old white female came out of school: She said that she did not want to go to school with "them", but "I will because it is the law. I may not be in school tomorrow because of what I am saying now,.. If parents would leave us alone, we would work this thing out,.. There might be some bloody noses, but it would work out and we are not afraid of 9 Negro students in the school, but we are afraid of parents and what they will do." She pleaded very dramatically and effectively. "It is the law, and we are only doing our duty," she said (Smiley). The mob was completely taken aback by this.
