There's an exciting fashion trend happening – dance. The dance and fashion industries seem to be
increasingly joining forces, with dance companies commissioning high profile designers and fashion
labels turning to dancers to optimally show off their clothes. The collision of the worlds of fashion
and dance creates alchemy beyond the reach of either one alone. Fashion is made to move in the ...

It is also a reliable source of income. So many people do not believe they can dance. They think
they are uncoordinated, have no rhythm and most of all, they assume the ability to dance is either
something you have or you don't. They see dancers as members of an unattainable and exclusive
club of good posture, hours of practice and perfect young bodies with plenty of technique.
Dancers are often called the 'athletes of the arts' and like athletes they undergo years of hard
physical training in pursuit of excellence. It is exhilarating watching human beings perform
extraordinary and courageous physical feats. In dance, this energy is used to tell stories and convey
ideas, creating very powerful experiences that can be dramatic, moving and even funny. (The
Autralian Ballet, 2010) However, if you are one of those people who have always thought you had
two left feet, or are just starting out, don't allow any negative thoughts deprive you of the happiness
that dancing brings. No matter what style: jazz, ballroom, belly dance or just plain shaking it to your
favorite tune, dancing is one of the greatest joys in life. It can transform your attitude in a second
and transport you into pure bliss. Dancing is for everyone.
On the other side of the coin, being a supermodel is somewhat the same as being a dancer wherein
there are certain challenges that need to be surpassed and most importantly you should've the skills
to become one.

Essay on Beauty of Giselle and the Beast of Lebron
The Beast of Lebron and the Beauty of Giselle
It has always been quoted from time to time that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. However, what
we see is not always necessarily beauty but sometimes just an individual perspective of the viewer's
sense of the images they see. You see all of these different types of mainstream media that heavily
influence and criticize our culture so negatively by the creators and executives who sometimes put
there spin on the way we see and view things. Advertisements, movies, internet, radio and TV are
sometimes with their images convey hate, racism, and inequality. For example, take Gisele a world's
top model, and a NBA star athlete Lebron James and you put them on the front cover of Vogue's

A good deal of racist propaganda has rested on those images, and they're a deeply ingrained part of
our cultural history. That's why this Vogue cover, which plays on racist facial expression and
imagery, is troubling and that just because you don't see racism of this stereotype of black males; it
doesn't mean that it isn't there. Lebron James is one of the most famous sports stars alive, and his
image and endorsement are worth tens of millions of dollars a year. He's got a carefully–maintained
public persona as a squeaky clean, family–friendly, playful person, and his substantial personal
interests as well as the interest of his top–tier agents and PR team, as well as the interest of several
large multinational corporations with whom he has long term endorsement deals that are all centered
on maintaining that image. When looking at this cover, it is LeBron who grabs your attention. On
the Contrary, Gisele is a mere after thought; a beautiful after thought, but an after thought
nonetheless.
Similarly, Giselle a world's top model has a facial expression that is calm, refreshing, and pleasant.
Gisele looks elated with her partner, not terrified despite Lebron's exaggerated snarl. Some feel it
plays to the stereotypes about the dangerous criminal minded black man and his desire

Fashion History Essay
Introduction
Historically, multiple styles of dressing have been created during the last several decades, which
played an important role in modern fashion in the UK. Everyone has a different and unique dressing
style in their general life. Some styles are influenced in vintage styles which is attributing to the
deep effects of old vogue, and another group of dressing styles are inclined into the fresh element.
According to those different styles some of them are even evolved in the milestones in fashion
history.
To start this essay, it will introduce the evaluation of the first significant revolution of dressing style
in 1960s. A famous designer called Mary Quant created mini–skirts and it becomes the most popular

For example the waistless chemise and schoolgirl pinafores occupied people's eyes (Palmer and
Clark., 2005) at that time. After this kind of dressing design appeared, women look more confident
when they were it on and this kind of dress can fully exhibit women's body. The matching colors
and cutting patterns were also vital elements to attract people visual feeling. What is more applying
the purely colors or contracting colors were a key foundation in the 60s style; such as white and
black, red and green and yellow and pink (Palmer and Clark., 2005). Most importantly, OP–art
fabrics were considered famous and typical material; in addition, vinyl and wet–look was also the
high of cool in the 60s (Tolkien., 2002).
As the hot fashion background during the 1960s, people cannot ignore a talented fashion designer,
Mary Quant. She changed the dressing style of this decade and created the famous mini–skirt. It
soon became the most popular product in the summer of 1960 (Tolkien., 2002). Most importantly,
she improved and created the dressing styles of 1960 and women's dresses have become sexier and
more outrageous. In fact, Palmer and Clark(2005) mentioned that she did not directly admit that she
created mini–skirts "I just copied them form the girls in the stress and there was something in the
air" Supplely, Mary Quant was an art student and did not have any background in fashion. She

Tips For Young Fashion Trends
Tips to Learn How to Stay in Vogue
Fashion trends tend to change quicker than you can blink. Staying in tune with the styles can
therefore be almost a mission impossible. Luckily, it's only and almost unachievable task, as we got
the tips to help you learn to stay in vogue. If you want to beat the fashion industry in it's own game
and stay within budget while doing so, take note of these little tips.
Inspire yourself
First, you'll need plenty of inspiration from the world of fashion. The truth is that you won't become
the next Kate Moss if you just sit in you room and daydream of clothes. You need to actively follow
fashion and see what the industry is doing.
How to best find inspiration and information? Start by watching the action happen on the runway.
Whilst you might not get tickets into the shows, online sites always have plenty of photos and
reviews of the shows.
You also want to start reading fashion publications. If you can find good deals, you could subscribe
with these magazines. If there's no savings to be made, the magazines often have plenty of free
resources on their website.
Check out the following sites: style.com, nowfashion.com, vogue.com, harpersbazaar.com.
Finally, don't forget about social media. Fashion bloggers, runaway models and even designers
themselves have understood the power of social media and are entertaining with us with insightful
Tweets and beautiful Instagram messages. You'll have enough material just by exploring the hashtag

How Fashion Photography Has Changed Throughout The Years
In this essay I am going to discuss how fashion photography has evolved throughout the decades.
Some of the subjects I am going to discuss are; the beginnings of fashion photography, the different
styles of fashion photography, and fashion magazines.
Fashion photography is a genre of photography in which clothing and other material garments are
photographed for the purpose of displaying in a fashion magazine or for the use in an advertisement.
This style of photography has been around since the early days of photography itself, however the
first fashion photographs didn't surface until 1856. Photographer Adolphe Braun took the first
fashion photographs of Virginia Oldoini, Countess of Castiglione. These photographs were
published into a book which contained over 200 other photographs of the Countess. Due to these
photographs the Countess became the first ever fashion model. In the 1990's printing advancements
meant that photographers could include their work in magazine spreads. This allowed fashion
magazines like Vogue and Harper's Bazaar (which were both founded in the 1800's) to include
photographs. These magazines were initially hand illustrated but the new developments in printing
meant that fashion magazines were able to show photographs of what the clothing actually looked
like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of these can include catalogue/look–book images, editorial images, and high fashion images.
Each genre requires a different approach because they each have a specific style requirement to
fulfil. For example, catalogue images need to show a set wardrobe of clothing so that the
brand/company can sell more of the items, the poses that the models are in are very simple and the
images are very clean cut. On the other hand, high fashion images are styled completely different.
High fashion images are made to look out of the ordinary with dramatic clothing and exaggerated

Descriptive Essay On Lebron James
Let it go, and it will go away The popular magazine Vogue made headlines in April of 2008 when it
released its "Shape" issue which featured the first African–American male on their cover–LeBron
James. James, one of the NBA's newest and rising stars at the time, was not alone on the cover as he
was highlighted alongside the famous super model Gisele Bundchen. LeBron is shown in a
dribbling position, with the basketball in mid dribble on his right side below his right hand, while he
holds Gisele in his left arm. While in this position he appears to be caught in the middle of a scream
directed at the camera and the viewers of the picture. This photo spiked some controversy on
whether or not vogue was using an old racial narrative; saying that they are showing the black man
as animalistic, resembling an old King Kong poster holding a damsel in distress. Although there is

There's nothing scary about a black man dribbling a basketball, unless one were tasked with
defending the mighty James on the court. It is also on the court where someone might recognize
James' passion for the game when he lets out a victory cry after a hard fought win–which we also
see in the "controversial" cover. Hyman continues in her failure to see LeBron as a basketball player
when she questions one of the interior photos in the magazine; stating, "Bundchen wears a white
sheath dress so form fitting that it's physically confining. By contrast, James is captured in the midst
of a jump shot." In a Vogue "shape" issue that is covering Athletes and Models, why would one
question a model dressed as a model, and an athlete dressed as an athlete? Is that not what this
particular magazine issue is all

Fashion And Society : Fashion Is Hurting Society
Fashion Is Hurting Society "Fashion is the most powerful art there is. It's movement, design and
architecture all in one. It shows the world who we are and who we'd like to be" (Meester). As once
said in the iconic series of Gossip Girl, many can come to the conclusion of the influence and power
fashion holds as an art form. Fashion is a reflection of economic, social, political, and cultural
changes, while expressing modernity, and symbolising the spirit of the times. This luxury industry
has catered to luxury tycoons for years. Producing the finest merchandise isn't the focus anymore, as
much as what the product represents. "Balenciaga now, it's no longer Nicolas Ghesquière, it's
Balenciaga's style," Ghesquière, the current creative director of the house of Louis Vuitton, said to
The Business of Fashion in regards to why he left Balenciaga (Wingfield). With this concept in
mind, it is easy to question whether today's trends are the true evolution of fashion, or simply big
luxury brands following the rules in order to increase presence and profit. Afterall, many trends are
just old pieces recreated with a commercial appeal. For example, some suspect that the Chanel boots
from the Fall 2017 Ready–To–Wear show were knock offs of Hedi Slimane's work for Saint
Laurent. Overall, all these beliefs, ideas, controversies, and passions can be brought into the debate
of whether or not fashion is hurting society. To begin, the fashion industry is a chaotic landscape
where innovation and identity is created. This can have a positive and negative impact due to the
pressure of perfection while following the set rules. This practically fuels every debate mentioned
under the topic of fashion.
Continuing, some people would even say that fashion supports and enables judgement and ridicule,
and that the industry brings feelings of insecurity. That is to say if you don't look a certain way or
wear certain clothes, you don't feel as if you belong. These broad generalizations can be true in
fashion, but also in almost every other aspect and industry of life. With this in mind, the idea of
blaming the fashion industry for this problem is absolutely false and not thought out. The first flaw
in this argument is the concept that

Gender Stereotypes: Gender And Gender Analysis
Ever since its inception in 1892, Vogue has catered its offering to high class women. To characterize
the typical Vogue reader, picture this: a twenty–nine year old woman who lives in Manhattan, with
an upper level position in a PR firm. Picture this woman decked out in today's latest and greatest
designers, a Louis Vuitton purse, a Michael Kors bracelet, sunglasses by Gucci and shoes by
Louboutin. This is in essence Vogue's target market. Vogue has long been a magazine that has
promoted ideologies of class by celebrating upper class life and denigrating the working class.
According to Douglas Kellner, dominant ideologies serve to "reproduce social relations of
domination and subordination." In terms of the ever–controversial LeBron/Giselle ... Show more

According to Kellner, the dominant ideology of sexuality promotes homophobia. (Kellner p.9)
Society has constructed the view of the male in that if he doesn't act a certain way he is less of a
man, or even worse in society's construct, a homosexual. To view how this dominant ideology is at
play, one must examine LeBron's appearance on the magazine cover. LeBron is doing everything the
dominant alpha male is supposed to be doing. He's holding a beautiful woman, screaming
ferociously to assert his dominance, as well as holding a basketball, to indicate his prowess at
sports. Everything LeBron is doing on the cover is what a man is supposed to do, according to
society's construct of a man. The ideology of sexuality interconnects with the ideologies of race and
gender here as well. LeBron is supposed to be the strong, black alpha male. According to those
dominant ideologies, LeBron isn't allowed to sure emotion or sway from his role of dominance. If
LeBron strays from any of the constructs placed upon him, he'd immediately be under scrutiny from
the whole

The Evolution Of Vogue : An Essay

The Evolution of Vogue
Fierce, bold, strong, technique, style, attitude, history, etiquette, language, community, and
powerfulness. These are just a few words I can't help but to think of when I hear the term Vogue
dance. Although the roots of voguing can be traced back to the masquerade balls of the Harlem
Renaissance, it wasn't really until the mid–1960's when gay men of color were performing drag in
Harlem ballrooms, that a new and fresh style of dance began to evolve, combining poses and
gestures integrated with angular, linear and rigid arm, leg and body movements from magazine
covers, such as Vogue (in which the dance got its name from). Underground Ball culture
development allowed gay youth of color a venue to express themselves and their gender fluidity. In
the 1970's, Vogue distinguished itself as a dance form and cultural entity, different from drag
performances, also becoming less about the clothing and more about the individual performance and
style. Categories of vogue now included Old Way, New Way, Vogue Fem, Dramatists, and Botch
Queen. Old Way is characterized by formation of lines, symmetry, and precision in the execution of
such formations and graceful, fluid–like action. The Old way also consisted of some duck walking.
The New Way consisted of some contortions and tutting. New Way can also be described as a
modified form of mime, where imaginary

James Van Der Zee and Scott Shuman's Contributions to...
Everything changes and evolves over a period of time. New insights and discoveries propel us down
a fresh path. The old ways are replaced by something different; however, in order to fully appreciate
the current we need to revisit the past. To really understand the origin of anything you need to know
about its founders and how it has evolved to where it is today. The roots are the core and provide us
insight on how things originated.
Photography has been around for a long time and there are many people who have contributed to the
discipline. There are two individuals from different generations who have made a huge contribution
in how the field is regarded. The first person I want to talk about who had a big influence on the
photography community was a Harlem Renaissance street photographer James Van Der Zee. He
captured the life, culture, fashion and daily life during this vibrant era (Biography.com). Van Der
Zee first started to develop a passion for photography at a young age taking pictures for his high
school. At the age of 30 Van Der Zee's photography became more than a hobby; it blossomed into a
lifelong career. During this period he spent time developing skills in darkroom studios and soon
opened his own office, which was called Guarantee Photo. He eventually renamed his workplace
GGG Studio, after his second wife, Gaynella Greenlee (Biography.com). During the 1920's and 30's
Van Der Zee focused his efforts on photographing the people of Harlem including all

Careers of Design: Interior and Fashion Essay
Billions of working adults hold positions in order to maintain a source of income for themselves and
their families. These adults can fit their jobs into certain categories, such as medical, legal, or labor,
and yet there are still many professions that fit into a different type of category: Fine Arts. Fine Arts
is an unique category in which two special occupations fall into: a fashion designer and an interior
designer.
Fine Arts is a unique category that some adults' jobs fit into. Fine Arts employs a majority of people
who are artistic and are creative. However, not all the employed enjoy the Arts; some of the careers
are simplistic and simply follow orders of a creative boss. These jobs do not simply create

Yet, these subdivisions can be divided further, into particular careers.
Within the category of Fine Arts, there are many subdivisions, and these subdivisions are divided
into many careers. Included in the food subcategory are many careers such as a gourmet chef or a
caterer. Also in the photography division there are different types of photo/videographers, like a
news cameraman, or a magazine photographer. Another example of a division of a section is an
interior designer, which is a partition of the subcategory building. Following this trend of division is
a fashion designer, which falls into the subcategory of fashion. Within the main category of Fine
Arts, there are many subdivisions and careers that fall within, and one particularly interesting career
happens to be a fashion designer.
One principally creative profession in the Fine Arts category is a fashion designer. A fashion
designer's job is to "conceptualize and create new clothing and accessory designs" (Fashions, n.d.).
However, a fashion designer's work is not simple, they must stay up–to–date with the latest trends,
color palettes, and design clothing the intended wearer would definitely want to purchase and wear.
Fashion Designers must excel in a variety of skills in order to be productive and competitive.
Essential skills include sewing, tailoring, pattern making, fashion history, and knowledge

Is It Cute or Crossing the Line?
With influences like Tom Ford, Calvin Klein, and Victoria's Secret, the fashion industry has begun
to focus more on sex instead of fashion. Unfortunately, fashion does not just focus on adults, but
also on children. With new trends and fads being expressed, concerns have become undeniable;
especially when it comes to fashion's decisions on young girls' clothing. The fashions of young girls
no longer promote an essence of cuteness but of sexiness. With young models posing provocatively
with close to nothing on, it seems as though, the sexualization of children has become a promising
way for designers to make a profit; instead of focusing on their actual designs. Overall, the fashion
industry and designers have become more acceptable with sexualizing young girls in order to sell
their products, coincidentally, taking away a girls' innocence and respect for themselves, while
doing this. Using a staged photograph of ten–year–old, French model, Thylane Blondeau, posing
provocatively in the January 2011 issue of Vogue Paris, for the newly launched, Jour Aprés Lunes
lingerie line, unfortunately illustrates the ongoing controversial issue of the fashion industry
sexualizing young girls. The image depicted in the Vogue Paris promoted Sophie Morin's new line,
titled Jour Aprés Lunes; a lingerie line for girls, ages four to twelve. Adorn from head–to–toe in Jour
Aprés Lunes' new fashions, Blondeau posed provocatively at the camera; hands behind her head,

Ballroom Scene Analysis
House and Ballroom Scene The House Ballroom scene is an intentional, multigenerational and
creative community which was founded by the Latino and black LGBTQ people. People from the
outside world came to know about this scene through researchers and journalist who were not
members of this community. The coverage of this community focused on dance form Vogue and it
had strong engagement with the movement against racism, homophobia, transphobia, cultural
exploitation and the barrier to healthcare (Valenti, 1989). According to some researcher, the
Ballroom Scene started as common occasion dubbed cabaret in where American menfolk in women
attires came to entertain the upper and middle–class audiences. This was a clandestine activity and
the member of the LGBT community came to participate in the competition for recreation. Members
of this community formed a team or house. A house member who offer care and protection to the
members when need be. Ideally, members of these houses came from family backgrounds which did
not support the activities of the LBGT community. The US ballroom served as a home for escapees
from reality and they acted as comfort zone where people could seek acceptance for whoever they
wanted to be. Wealth, glamour and status are important factors in Ballroom culture. Different houses

The Punk Movement Of Britain During The 1960 ' S
The punk movement that sprung in Britain during the 1960's, mostly due to the social problems
(joblessness, poverty and changing moral standards) faced by the younger generations, was
epitomised by the band The Sex Pistols in this side of the atlantic and by The Ramones and The

designers and individuals to create their own personal version of the movement. Through the
customisation of their clothing and the use of everyday objects like bin liners or safety pins, the
members were able to create their own personal look while still be in accordance to the whole

The fashion Industry has always been a controversial setting that has been judged and misplaced

very common to see young, beautiful and very slim models that don't fit regular sizes, but petites.
Nowadays, it's very common to find young girls and teens paying attention to the models'
appearance and trying to copy these models, since they can be found everywhere: fashion

The Negative Implications Of The Fashion Industry
Americans should eliminate the thought that the fashion industry is high end and advanced because
the designers that run the industry creates false and negative portrayals on people, makes models go
through unreasonable lifestyle expectations, and cause social issues.
The fashion industry is certainly notorious for using heavy image manipulation softwares to portray
a "perfect" image. In 1987, Thomas and John Knoll invented photoshop: the world's largest
grayscale image producer to the human race. Since then, fashion has been drastically modified
because of wrong glorifications of a "perfect" image. As stated in http://p.dw.com/p/1Eibq,
Photoshop has revolutionized the art of photo processing. Let alone separates our perception of
reality from ideas of "perfect beauty" to media manipulation. Fashion designers are constantly
blamed for deliberately misleading their customers by creating a product that is indeed, a false
impression. Most of all, they perpetuate unhealthy body images by "slimming down" their models
and concealing their imperfections/flaws. Perhaps some might argue excessive photoshopping is
necessary or by exposing the extended work that makes fashion photos publishable in any big–time
magazines they'll gain something from it, however, that's unacceptable. Designers in the industry are
overusing the digital manipulation software. Recent infractions to show this controversy is Crystal
Renn. Renn is a plus sized model who joined the fashion industry after battling anorexia. The
determined model decided to take control of her health and speak against the deleterious
expectations of models in the industry and the practices that prolonged her bad decisions. On
October 31, 2017, Crystal Renn was featured in a French Vogue magazine shoot named, Fashion for
Passion. When the photos were publicized, Renn was visualized as a slender, size 2 model instead of
the hedonistic size 10 model she is known for. Renn being as resilient as she is, spoke against the
photographs, expressing her agitation in being so blatantly misrepresented. She also acknowledged
the retouch of the designers photographs, but conveyed the images as "crossing the line." Crystal
Renn is just one of the many models who has fallen prey to

what she'd learnt from her brother , it was "great reporting" .(Wintour ,2014).
Wintour attended North London Collegiate, an independent girls school, in which Wintour spent
many years rebelling against authority by experimenting with fashion and reportedly dated older
men which gave her good connections within the London club circuit . At the young age of sixteen
she left school to immerse herself into the buzz of the 1960's fashionable London scene and
developed her signature look of a bob haircut which she has kept to the present day. During her
teenage years, Wintour's American grandmother sent across copies of Seventeen magazine which

The Vogue Of The Lady
As Solomon's work explain, "the vogue of the lady, as promoted in English advice literature, had a
large impact on American parents intent on training girls to be polished but congenial, obedient as
daughters and future wives" among the community. While this study highlights data on Mary Lyon
on a deeper context, their findings also discuses how the mere presence of economic necessity and
religious zeal in the society significantly affected women's academic development. In terms of the
author's evaluation, In the Company of Educated Women outlines a strong narrative on these
dimensions and its relations to women's struggles in access to academia. The discouraging effects
started with English literature. Solomon concluded the early half of 1700s beliefs with a novel from
Samuel Richardson which highlighted two characters: first Pamela, who preserved her virginity
which own her marriage into the gentry, and secondly, Clarissa, who was a proud heroine
disobeying her parents and ending up dead for her mistake. These types of studies implored through
the society as evidence to use education only to a certain extent to sway women's focus towards the
marital training. Of lesser impact, the author also discusses another figure, Eliza Lucas Pinckney
who was accomplished to study freely and helped her father grow her business. She was reminded
of her "place" as a female, Solomon indicates. Later she was engaged in a speech in which she
accepted her husband superiority and recognized

Vogue History
Since its introduction to the world in December of 1892 Vogue has gone about as the central form
counselor for the socialites of tomorrow, setting up the garments drifts in the interminably
developing universe of design. Vogue is presently distributed in eighteen nations, universally
extending the legacy and impact of the design wonder. In spite of Vogue's concentrate on the brief

Nast's enthusiasm for the magazine provoked him to make a few noteworthy changes to the

distribution with the accompanying declaration, "'Beginning with the spring fashion forecast
number of February fifteenth Vogue will be issued under a plan that will make for a bigger, a better
and a still more attractive Vogue" (Chase 71). Nast verified that Vogue would be distributed every
other week in 1909. Nast additionally balanced the magazine's cost, as yearly memberships would
be valued at four dollars, and the cost of an issue was raised from ten to fifteen pennies. The key to
Nast's prosperity, what he alluded to as the "formula" of Vogue, was just "legibility." In 1910 Vogue
was profoundly reshaped through the expanded utilization of the camera, and Nast started to
actualize mold and society photos into the magazine close by the customary hand–drawn form

particularly once shading photography was presented: "At Vogue, editors spent $60,000 more on
artwork than on photography in 1930; by 1933 that gap had been reduced to only $13,000 and by
the end of the decade far more was spent on photography." Edna Woolman Chase

idea that girls should not be punished for the way they dress. This controversial article was

only affect girls, but also gives guys a disadvantage as well. Lindin starts off her argument by giving

Lindin uses pathos when talking about how dress codes are put into place for boys, so they do not

Vogue Magazine : The World 's Top Most Influential Fashion...
1. Introduction Vogue magazine is the world's top most influential fashion magazine in the world.
How did a magazine like this become so popular and worldwide famous. Vogue magazine was
found in 1892 by Arthur Turnure. When it was first founded the idea for vogue was not about high
fashion it was about celebrating the ceremonial side of life it had sections for art and literature. It
included social affairs and sports targeted for men as well as women. Now, since Anna Wintour
became editor in chief it is now primarily for woman as there is no sports section no literature or
social affairs, it is just about fashion and has adopted the name as the world's number one "fashion
bible".
2. Findings 2.1 Vogue: At the beginning:
Originally Arthur Turnure was the founder of vogue from 1892 to 1904. After Tunures death Vogue
was bought in 1905 by Condé Montrose Nast. This is when Vogue started to get recognized as a
global brand. Publication grew after Condé Montrose Nast took over this brand to a weekly
publication. Nast wanted to market overseas and make Vogue known to the world and started
marketing overseas in 1910, 6 years later Vogue was published in Britain for the first time. At this
time Vogue covers were still in drawing format, it was not glamorous photographs on the covers
today. From 1911 Vogue had gained a reputation that is still intact by providing for the élite, and this
was also the year the included a wedding section. By 1920 Vogue was published in USA,

Organisational Structure, Leadership And Management Of The...
British Vogue Magazine
Introduction
I will investigate various factors, such as organisational structure, culture, leadership and
management of the British Vogue Magazine. I will use relevant theories to support the report. By
using the relevant theories, I will explain how those factors help to function effectively and achieve
the organisational goals.
Background of the British Vogue Arthur Baldwin Turnure, the American business man established
the company in 1892. The magazine was first sponsored by Kristoffer Wright, the first issue was
published the 17 of December in 1892 with a cover price of 10 cents (equivalent to $2.67 in 2016).
After his death in 1909 Conde Nast took over the magazine and slowly built up its publications. The
original intention of Vogue was to become most beautiful and tasteful magazine that had ever
occurred. He started Vogue overseas in the 1910's.
First issue of the British Vogue was published in September 1916. Elspeth Champcommunal, the
first Editor–in–Chief was working in 1916–1922.
The latest Editor–in–Chief is Alexandra Shulman, she gave 25 years of her life for British Vogue,
she started in 1992 and today still edits the magazine. Since the beginning of her editorship, the
magazine's circulation reached millions of readers. However, Alexandra Shulman – resigning, her
position is appointed to Edward Enninful, the first male Editor–in–Chief in the British Vogue's

Diversity In Advertising
On T.V., billboards, magazines, and almost anywhere possible, there is a constant push for a better,
more improved product that everyone needs in their life. "The American marketplace has grown
increasingly congested as more and more products have entered into the frenzied competition after
the public's dollars," as stated by Jib Fowles in ,"Advertisings Fifteen Basic Appeals."
Advertisement is so much a part of everyday life that most people are unfazed by almost everything
being a space to advertise. When the majority doesn't notice the majority of advertisements what is a
company to do? Advertisers are constantly searching for new ways to catch an audience's eye, which

Now, in 2017, American values are changing and there is a movement of women, young and old,
standing up to societies standards of beauty, saying that there is no such thing as a"perfect" woman,
and that diversity is beautiful. Many companies have taken to that ideal by using campaigns where
there are more than just tall, skinny, white models, and also going without photoshopping their
photos. This is something that makes brands more relatable to everyday women, because finally
there is diversity in advertisements and campaigns. For many years people of color, mentally or
physically disabled people, and members of the LGBTQ community were severely
underrepresented in the media. Representation is very important when it comes to appealing to a
large audience, when looking at advertisements, everyone wants to see people that they can relate
to. Clearly, Olay has not opted for this rout in the advertisement. Perhaps if the models did not have
flawless skin and were closer in age to the women who would be buying this product, the readers
would be more inclined to give it a try. Instead, an older reader looks at the models and can't relate
because the reader cannot see a reflection of themselves in the models. In real life, women aren't
perfect. Jib Fowles put advertising into fifteen basic appeals, number six being the desire to achieve.
Though he describes it as, "the drive that energizes people, causing them to strive in their lives and
careers," it could also be looked at as trying to achieve a certain appearance (Fowles 82). For a very
long time that certain appearance was bring skinny and tan with bleach blonde hair. Olay is showing
perfection, a feat that many strive for but become worn out in the process of

Her plan is to make her product "widely known and widely worn". The Ready–to–Wear line is
exclusively featured at Kohl's department store, affordable to the less wealthy customer.
Challenge No. 3: Another challenge Vera Wang has faced is the shorter turn around times between
shipments of new lines. She's had to adjust her line of thinking and operations to suit the need for a
new line, every couple of months, rather than the twice a year that it once was. This also reduces the
time to select which pieces will be successful, in each new line, increasing the risk for poor sales,
should they make the wrong choices in these selections. Not only is selection of pieces important (as
trends and climate vary by area), but they are allotted less time to make such decisions as what
sources for material they will use, where different components will be made and assembled and
what path of shipment will be utilized.

Of particular interest, and a perfect piece to fit the genre, with two holes on both sides, and
grommets encircling the cutouts, is a white shift dress. While this dress is not what one would call
wearable, it certainly makes a statement, and one that Courrèges made well. Sensible women
probably would not have worn this dress due to the cutout placement unless they were in favor of
foregoing their undergarments. Courrèges utilized vinyl, pvc, leather, and an aggregate of burnished
materials in order to create his vision which supplemented his modern, futuristic vision. His cloth of
choice was gabardine, wool, and tweed. His background in architecture lent to his attention to detail
and his dedication to construction. While André Courrèges was gaining the praises of the masses,
other designers were forging ahead on the same path. Paco Rabanne also gained his fashion footing
at Balenciaga, however he also worked for Dior and Givenchy. Perhaps fashion was in his blood
considering his mother was previously the lead seamstress at Balenciaga. With his first manifesto
collection, 12 Unwearable Dresses in Contemporary Materials, it was obvious that Rabanne was not
an conventional designer, nor was he quick to fade into the background and dissolve into fashion

I reminisce the time like it was yesterday, the white tile along the floor as I walked by my mom 's
side, my fragile body shivering from the coldness I felt, my eyes taking quick glimpses of
everything near me. I can just imagine how my pupils dilated from the excitement of all the

some fads became more popular than others. Popularity in the latest fashions has to do with how
easy to wear, creative, and different the fashions are. Creative trends usually get people's attention
because the they stand out more. A different look, however, tends to capture people's attention, so
one trend is not worn for a long time. In order to create a new fashion, there has to be a modern
element never seen before so the newest craze is not a replica of something already created. Many
designers like Coco Chanel and pop stars like Madonna helped to create advanced fads separate
from the standard forms of dress. As a result, many distinct fashion crazes sprang up in decades like
the twenties, fifties, and eighties. The flappers in the 20s, the housewives in the 50s, and the bold–
colored teens and young adults of the 80s were very famous for being the most popular clothing
trends of their decade because of how easy to wear, creative, and disparate they were. The major
fashion craze of the twenties that caused a stir was the flapper because it was a deviation from the
usual form of dress, residing in the decade known as the "Roaring Twenties." The women's suffrage
law, passed in 1919, caused a period of freedom and independence for women after World War I.
Before the passing of the women's suffrage law, the goal of women was to look older than their age
because they thought

Dance and Fashion Trends

  • 1. Dance and Fashion Danceable Fashion or Fashionable Dance: Either way, it works! A Concept Paper Presented to Prof. Robert Rodriguez Division of Humanities, College of Arts and Sciences University of the Philippines in the Visayas, Miagao, Iloilo In Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements For the Course in Communications 2 By Nohr Malynne Tabares February 5, 2013 There's an exciting fashion trend happening – dance. The dance and fashion industries seem to be increasingly joining forces, with dance companies commissioning high profile designers and fashion labels turning to dancers to optimally show off their clothes. The collision of the worlds of fashion and dance creates alchemy beyond the reach of either one alone. Fashion is made to move in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is also a reliable source of income. So many people do not believe they can dance. They think they are uncoordinated, have no rhythm and most of all, they assume the ability to dance is either something you have or you don't. They see dancers as members of an unattainable and exclusive club of good posture, hours of practice and perfect young bodies with plenty of technique. Dancers are often called the 'athletes of the arts' and like athletes they undergo years of hard physical training in pursuit of excellence. It is exhilarating watching human beings perform extraordinary and courageous physical feats. In dance, this energy is used to tell stories and convey ideas, creating very powerful experiences that can be dramatic, moving and even funny. (The Autralian Ballet, 2010) However, if you are one of those people who have always thought you had two left feet, or are just starting out, don't allow any negative thoughts deprive you of the happiness that dancing brings. No matter what style: jazz, ballroom, belly dance or just plain shaking it to your favorite tune, dancing is one of the greatest joys in life. It can transform your attitude in a second and transport you into pure bliss. Dancing is for everyone. On the other side of the coin, being a supermodel is somewhat the same as being a dancer wherein there are certain challenges that need to be surpassed and most importantly you should've the skills to become one. • 3. Essay on Beauty of Giselle and the Beast of Lebron The Beast of Lebron and the Beauty of Giselle It has always been quoted from time to time that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. However, what we see is not always necessarily beauty but sometimes just an individual perspective of the viewer's sense of the images they see. You see all of these different types of mainstream media that heavily influence and criticize our culture so negatively by the creators and executives who sometimes put there spin on the way we see and view things. Advertisements, movies, internet, radio and TV are sometimes with their images convey hate, racism, and inequality. For example, take Gisele a world's top model, and a NBA star athlete Lebron James and you put them on the front cover of Vogue's April 2008 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A good deal of racist propaganda has rested on those images, and they're a deeply ingrained part of our cultural history. That's why this Vogue cover, which plays on racist facial expression and imagery, is troubling and that just because you don't see racism of this stereotype of black males; it doesn't mean that it isn't there. Lebron James is one of the most famous sports stars alive, and his image and endorsement are worth tens of millions of dollars a year. He's got a carefully–maintained public persona as a squeaky clean, family–friendly, playful person, and his substantial personal interests as well as the interest of his top–tier agents and PR team, as well as the interest of several large multinational corporations with whom he has long term endorsement deals that are all centered on maintaining that image. When looking at this cover, it is LeBron who grabs your attention. On the Contrary, Gisele is a mere after thought; a beautiful after thought, but an after thought nonetheless. Similarly, Giselle a world's top model has a facial expression that is calm, refreshing, and pleasant. Gisele looks elated with her partner, not terrified despite Lebron's exaggerated snarl. Some feel it plays to the stereotypes about the dangerous criminal minded black man and his desire ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Fashion History Essay Introduction Historically, multiple styles of dressing have been created during the last several decades, which played an important role in modern fashion in the UK. Everyone has a different and unique dressing style in their general life. Some styles are influenced in vintage styles which is attributing to the deep effects of old vogue, and another group of dressing styles are inclined into the fresh element. According to those different styles some of them are even evolved in the milestones in fashion history. To start this essay, it will introduce the evaluation of the first significant revolution of dressing style in 1960s. A famous designer called Mary Quant created mini–skirts and it becomes the most popular fashion style ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example the waistless chemise and schoolgirl pinafores occupied people's eyes (Palmer and Clark., 2005) at that time. After this kind of dressing design appeared, women look more confident when they were it on and this kind of dress can fully exhibit women's body. The matching colors and cutting patterns were also vital elements to attract people visual feeling. What is more applying the purely colors or contracting colors were a key foundation in the 60s style; such as white and black, red and green and yellow and pink (Palmer and Clark., 2005). Most importantly, OP–art fabrics were considered famous and typical material; in addition, vinyl and wet–look was also the high of cool in the 60s (Tolkien., 2002). As the hot fashion background during the 1960s, people cannot ignore a talented fashion designer, Mary Quant. She changed the dressing style of this decade and created the famous mini–skirt. It soon became the most popular product in the summer of 1960 (Tolkien., 2002). Most importantly, she improved and created the dressing styles of 1960 and women's dresses have become sexier and more outrageous. In fact, Palmer and Clark(2005) mentioned that she did not directly admit that she created mini–skirts "I just copied them form the girls in the stress and there was something in the air" Supplely, Mary Quant was an art student and did not have any background in fashion. • 6. How Fashion Photography Has Changed Throughout The Years In this essay I am going to discuss how fashion photography has evolved throughout the decades. Some of the subjects I am going to discuss are; the beginnings of fashion photography, the different styles of fashion photography, and fashion magazines. Fashion photography is a genre of photography in which clothing and other material garments are photographed for the purpose of displaying in a fashion magazine or for the use in an advertisement. This style of photography has been around since the early days of photography itself, however the first fashion photographs didn't surface until 1856. Photographer Adolphe Braun took the first fashion photographs of Virginia Oldoini, Countess of Castiglione. These photographs were published into a book which contained over 200 other photographs of the Countess. Due to these photographs the Countess became the first ever fashion model. In the 1990's printing advancements meant that photographers could include their work in magazine spreads. This allowed fashion magazines like Vogue and Harper's Bazaar (which were both founded in the 1800's) to include photographs. These magazines were initially hand illustrated but the new developments in printing meant that fashion magazines were able to show photographs of what the clothing actually looked like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Some of these can include catalogue/look–book images, editorial images, and high fashion images. Each genre requires a different approach because they each have a specific style requirement to fulfil. For example, catalogue images need to show a set wardrobe of clothing so that the brand/company can sell more of the items, the poses that the models are in are very simple and the images are very clean cut. On the other hand, high fashion images are styled completely different. High fashion images are made to look out of the ordinary with dramatic clothing and exaggerated ... • 7. Descriptive Essay On Lebron James Let it go, and it will go away The popular magazine Vogue made headlines in April of 2008 when it released its "Shape" issue which featured the first African–American male on their cover–LeBron James. James, one of the NBA's newest and rising stars at the time, was not alone on the cover as he was highlighted alongside the famous super model Gisele Bundchen. LeBron is shown in a dribbling position, with the basketball in mid dribble on his right side below his right hand, while he holds Gisele in his left arm. While in this position he appears to be caught in the middle of a scream directed at the camera and the viewers of the picture. This photo spiked some controversy on whether or not vogue was using an old racial narrative; saying that they are showing the black man as animalistic, resembling an old King Kong poster holding a damsel in distress. Although there is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There's nothing scary about a black man dribbling a basketball, unless one were tasked with defending the mighty James on the court. It is also on the court where someone might recognize James' passion for the game when he lets out a victory cry after a hard fought win–which we also see in the "controversial" cover. Hyman continues in her failure to see LeBron as a basketball player when she questions one of the interior photos in the magazine; stating, "Bundchen wears a white sheath dress so form fitting that it's physically confining. By contrast, James is captured in the midst of a jump shot." In a Vogue "shape" issue that is covering Athletes and Models, why would one question a model dressed as a model, and an athlete dressed as an athlete? • 8. Fashion And Society : Fashion Is Hurting Society Fashion Is Hurting Society "Fashion is the most powerful art there is. It's movement, design and architecture all in one. It shows the world who we are and who we'd like to be" (Meester). As once said in the iconic series of Gossip Girl, many can come to the conclusion of the influence and power fashion holds as an art form. Fashion is a reflection of economic, social, political, and cultural changes, while expressing modernity, and symbolising the spirit of the times. This luxury industry has catered to luxury tycoons for years. Producing the finest merchandise isn't the focus anymore, as much as what the product represents. "Balenciaga now, it's no longer Nicolas Ghesquière, it's Balenciaga's style," Ghesquière, the current creative director of the house of Louis Vuitton, said to The Business of Fashion in regards to why he left Balenciaga (Wingfield). With this concept in mind, it is easy to question whether today's trends are the true evolution of fashion, or simply big luxury brands following the rules in order to increase presence and profit. Afterall, many trends are just old pieces recreated with a commercial appeal. For example, some suspect that the Chanel boots from the Fall 2017 Ready–To–Wear show were knock offs of Hedi Slimane's work for Saint Laurent. Overall, all these beliefs, ideas, controversies, and passions can be brought into the debate of whether or not fashion is hurting society. To begin, the fashion industry is a chaotic landscape where innovation and identity is created. This can have a positive and negative impact due to the pressure of perfection while following the set rules. This practically fuels every debate mentioned under the topic of fashion. Continuing, some people would even say that fashion supports and enables judgement and ridicule, and that the industry brings feelings of insecurity. That is to say if you don't look a certain way or wear certain clothes, you don't feel as if you belong. These broad generalizations can be true in fashion, but also in almost every other aspect and industry of life. With this in mind, the idea of blaming the fashion industry for this problem is absolutely false and not thought out. The first flaw in this argument is the concept that ... • 9. Gender Stereotypes: Gender And Gender Analysis Ever since its inception in 1892, Vogue has catered its offering to high class women. To characterize the typical Vogue reader, picture this: a twenty–nine year old woman who lives in Manhattan, with an upper level position in a PR firm. Picture this woman decked out in today's latest and greatest designers, a Louis Vuitton purse, a Michael Kors bracelet, sunglasses by Gucci and shoes by Louboutin. This is in essence Vogue's target market. Vogue has long been a magazine that has promoted ideologies of class by celebrating upper class life and denigrating the working class. According to Douglas Kellner, dominant ideologies serve to "reproduce social relations of domination and subordination." In terms of the ever–controversial LeBron/Giselle ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to Kellner, the dominant ideology of sexuality promotes homophobia. (Kellner p.9) Society has constructed the view of the male in that if he doesn't act a certain way he is less of a man, or even worse in society's construct, a homosexual. To view how this dominant ideology is at play, one must examine LeBron's appearance on the magazine cover. LeBron is doing everything the dominant alpha male is supposed to be doing. He's holding a beautiful woman, screaming ferociously to assert his dominance, as well as holding a basketball, to indicate his prowess at sports. Everything LeBron is doing on the cover is what a man is supposed to do, according to society's construct of a man. The ideology of sexuality interconnects with the ideologies of race and gender here as well. LeBron is supposed to be the strong, black alpha male. According to those dominant ideologies, LeBron isn't allowed to sure emotion or sway from his role of dominance. If LeBron strays from any of the constructs placed upon him, he'd immediately be under scrutiny from the whole ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. The Evolution Of Vogue : An Essay Emily N. Lara Instructor: Sandra Lopez Ramirez Dance Appreciation Monday Wednesday 1:30 4 December 2015 The Evolution of Vogue Fierce, bold, strong, technique, style, attitude, history, etiquette, language, community, and powerfulness. These are just a few words I can't help but to think of when I hear the term Vogue dance. Although the roots of voguing can be traced back to the masquerade balls of the Harlem Renaissance, it wasn't really until the mid–1960's when gay men of color were performing drag in Harlem ballrooms, that a new and fresh style of dance began to evolve, combining poses and gestures integrated with angular, linear and rigid arm, leg and body movements from magazine covers, such as Vogue (in which the dance got its name from). Underground Ball culture development allowed gay youth of color a venue to express themselves and their gender fluidity. In the 1970's, Vogue distinguished itself as a dance form and cultural entity, different from drag performances, also becoming less about the clothing and more about the individual performance and style. Categories of vogue now included Old Way, New Way, Vogue Fem, Dramatists, and Botch Queen. Old Way is characterized by formation of lines, symmetry, and precision in the execution of such formations and graceful, fluid–like action. The Old way also consisted of some duck walking. To really understand the origin of anything you need to know about its founders and how it has evolved to where it is today. The roots are the core and provide us insight on how things originated. Photography has been around for a long time and there are many people who have contributed to the discipline. There are two individuals from different generations who have made a huge contribution in how the field is regarded. The first person I want to talk about who had a big influence on the photography community was a Harlem Renaissance street photographer James Van Der Zee. He captured the life, culture, fashion and daily life during this vibrant era (Biography.com). Van Der Zee first started to develop a passion for photography at a young age taking pictures for his high school. At the age of 30 Van Der Zee's photography became more than a hobby; it blossomed into a lifelong career. During this period he spent time developing skills in darkroom studios and soon opened his own office, which was called Guarantee Photo. Unfortunately, fashion does not just focus on adults, but also on children. With new trends and fads being expressed, concerns have become undeniable; especially when it comes to fashion's decisions on young girls' clothing. The fashions of young girls no longer promote an essence of cuteness but of sexiness. With young models posing provocatively with close to nothing on, it seems as though, the sexualization of children has become a promising way for designers to make a profit; instead of focusing on their actual designs. Overall, the fashion industry and designers have become more acceptable with sexualizing young girls in order to sell their products, coincidentally, taking away a girls' innocence and respect for themselves, while doing this. Using a staged photograph of ten–year–old, French model, Thylane Blondeau, posing provocatively in the January 2011 issue of Vogue Paris, for the newly launched, Jour Aprés Lunes lingerie line, unfortunately illustrates the ongoing controversial issue of the fashion industry sexualizing young girls. The image depicted in the Vogue Paris promoted Sophie Morin's new line, titled Jour Aprés Lunes; a lingerie line for girls, ages four to twelve. The Negative Implications Of The Fashion Industry Americans should eliminate the thought that the fashion industry is high end and advanced because the designers that run the industry creates false and negative portrayals on people, makes models go through unreasonable lifestyle expectations, and cause social issues. The fashion industry is certainly notorious for using heavy image manipulation softwares to portray a "perfect" image. In 1987, Thomas and John Knoll invented photoshop: the world's largest grayscale image producer to the human race. The Vogue Of The Lady As Solomon's work explain, "the vogue of the lady, as promoted in English advice literature, had a large impact on American parents intent on training girls to be polished but congenial, obedient as daughters and future wives" among the community. While this study highlights data on Mary Lyon on a deeper context, their findings also discuses how the mere presence of economic necessity and religious zeal in the society significantly affected women's academic development. In terms of the author's evaluation, In the Company of Educated Women outlines a strong narrative on these dimensions and its relations to women's struggles in access to academia. Perhaps if the models did not have flawless skin and were closer in age to the women who would be buying this product, the readers would be more inclined to give it a try. Instead, an older reader looks at the models and can't relate because the reader cannot see a reflection of themselves in the models. In real life, women aren't perfect. Jib Fowles put advertising into fifteen basic appeals, number six being the desire to achieve. Though he describes it as, "the drive that energizes people, causing them to strive in their lives and careers," it could also be looked at as trying to achieve a certain appearance (Fowles 82). For a very long time that certain appearance was bring skinny and tan with bleach blonde hair. Olay is showing perfection, a feat that many strive for but become worn out in the process of ... Characterisitics of Business Leadership: Vera Wang CHARACTERISTICS OF BUSINESS LEADERSHIP: VERA WANG Describe the business leader's primary business or businesses, highlighting how the leader got started and analyze the leader's three (3) major business challenges in establishing and/or running the company. Vera Wang began her career in the fashion industry in 1971, working her way up the corporate ladder to Senior Editor for Vogue. In 1987, she began working for Ralph Lauren, dealing primarily with accessories. In 1987, out of frustration with the lack of options to suit her sophisticated taste, she designed her own wedding gown, commissioning a seamstress to assemble it. This inspired her to launch Vera Wang Bridal House Ltd., in the Carlisle Hotel on Madison Avenue, New York City. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Her plan is to make her product "widely known and widely worn". The Ready–to–Wear line is exclusively featured at Kohl's department store, affordable to the less wealthy customer. Challenge No. 3: Another challenge Vera Wang has faced is the shorter turn around times between shipments of new lines. She's had to adjust her line of thinking and operations to suit the need for a new line, every couple of months, rather than the twice a year that it once was. This also reduces the time to select which pieces will be successful, in each new line, increasing the risk for poor sales, should they make the wrong choices in these selections. Not only is selection of pieces important (as trends and climate vary by area), but they are allotted less time to make such decisions as what sources for material they will use, where different components will be made and assembled and what path of shipment will be utilized. CHARACTERISTICS OF BUSINESS LEADERSHIP: VERA WANG Analyze this business leader's leadership style and discuss how he or she has adapted to cultural differences and how he or she operates the business effectively in global markets. Her leadership style reduces the pains, somewhat, in the challenge just mentioned. She's been quoted as stating, "You're only as good as your team". Executives, who work for her, assist her in making these decisions. These

Any time we turn on the television ads are always going to be showing. The ads are on our phones, on the radio and basically all around us. The ads influence us without us knowing, with the tricky words and the "amazing" deals. The ads have been around since before I was born and will continue to be around long after my generation is gone. For instance VOGUE is a beauty and fashion magazine founded in 1892. The August 2017 issue of VOGUE magazine featured an "Estee Lauder" ad using model Hilary Rhoda. Hilary Rhoda is laying down, staring at the camera through a glass square. The next page featured the product Advanced Night Repair Eye Concentrate Matrix on the floor. Along with the product the image shows the lid that has a 360–degree applicator. On the top of the next page the words "Magnify the beauty of your eyes." Under this is the name of the product with three key points: "REPAIRS the visible signs of aging," "FORTIFIES with cushioning support all around the eyes" and "HYDRATES for a full 24 hours with 2x a concentrated infusion of Hyaluronic Acid." Included on the second page is the sentence "Patented until 2033. Proven for all ethnicities." The colors in the ad are different shades of blue giving off a calm and soothing vibe. Vogue has been in circulation for several years generally targeting women, which is a great place to advertise beauty products. Estee ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While this dress is not what one would call wearable, it certainly makes a statement, and one that Courrèges made well. Sensible women probably would not have worn this dress due to the cutout placement unless they were in favor of foregoing their undergarments. Courrèges utilized vinyl, pvc, leather, and an aggregate of burnished materials in order to create his vision which supplemented his modern, futuristic vision. His cloth of choice was gabardine, wool, and tweed. His background in architecture lent to his attention to detail and his dedication to construction. While André Courrèges was gaining the praises of the masses, other designers were forging ahead on the same path. Paco Rabanne also gained his fashion footing at Balenciaga, however he also worked for Dior and Givenchy. Perhaps fashion was in his blood considering his mother was previously the lead seamstress at Balenciaga. With his first manifesto collection, 12 Unwearable Dresses in Contemporary Materials, it was obvious that Rabanne was not an conventional designer, nor was he quick to fade into the background and dissolve into fashion history. In a world where men had dominance and women were contending for even a meager slice of that, Rabanne was a savior of sorts. He once stated that, "The woman of tomorrow will be efficacious, seductive and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. My First Shopping Trip I reminisce the time like it was yesterday, the white tile along the floor as I walked by my mom 's side, my fragile body shivering from the coldness I felt, my eyes taking quick glimpses of everything near me. I can just imagine how my pupils dilated from the excitement of all the beautiful things I saw. At that moment I didn 't realize my first shopping trip would have such an impact on my future. I can recall the amazing feeling I felt when I purchased my first outfit. Why would this mean so much to me? I was born with an identical twin. For 7 years of my life, I wore the exact same thing as my sister. I was always known as a twin ,when I picked out my first outfit everything changed. It was a way for me to make a new identity for myself. I love being a twin, but some people do not understand that we are so different. Fashion is a way for me to express who I am. For as long as I can remember I have always been dedicated to make my dreams possible. I was so determined to make my dreams happen that at the young age of ten I began taking sewing lessons. A year after that my parents signed me up for summer art workshops. At first I was horrible at drawing, but as time passed and as I got older I got very good. At the age of fourteen I got so talented that my art teacher started entering me into local and national art contests. I won many awards including The Scholastic Art Award , Brain–Art Competition, Wrecks Of The World Art, and many local art competitions. It 's crazy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. What Makes A New Fashion? Among the decades of history, many trends have been introduced by the power of people; however, some fads became more popular than others. Popularity in the latest fashions has to do with how easy to wear, creative, and different the fashions are. Creative trends usually get people's attention because the they stand out more. A different look, however, tends to capture people's attention, so one trend is not worn for a long time. In order to create a new fashion, there has to be a modern element never seen before so the newest craze is not a replica of something already created. Many designers like Coco Chanel and pop stars like Madonna helped to create advanced fads separate from the standard forms of dress. As a result, many distinct fashion crazes sprang up in decades like the twenties, fifties, and eighties. The flappers in the 20s, the housewives in the 50s, and the bold– colored teens and young adults of the 80s were very famous for being the most popular clothing trends of their decade because of how easy to wear, creative, and disparate they were. The major fashion craze of the twenties that caused a stir was the flapper because it was a deviation from the usual form of dress, residing in the decade known as the "Roaring Twenties." The women's suffrage law, passed in 1919, caused a period of freedom and independence for women after World War I.
