The Effects Of Advertising On Our Society
Introduction:
Communication is one of the crucial ways to send your message across or enhance your knowledge. And now we have several options available to us
to get connected to this world and to know what is going on. And one of the most popular and common method to convey your message to an audience
is advertisement. Advertising is a form of art that advertisers used to persuade a common mind and change the opinion of that person about particular
product or to introduce him with a new product. As living this fast pace life when nobody can afford to spend their precious time to look for new
trends and impressive innovation, but at the same time want to meet the standards of society by owning and acknowledging about these trends, then
advertising is the most convenient way to seek information about anything new in market or new trends. This is the reason that ads are getting a huge
amount of popularity in our society and they are everywhere, does not matter whether we are in a public place or at home, does not matter you are
interested in these ads and message they are conveying you, there is always something or someone chasing us for giving unwanted suggestions or
information. According to the corporation that sponsored these ads, they merely want people to now about their product that is better than the other
one. But all these efforts and billions of dollars being spend just to communicate or giving a moment of think wisely? Do these advertisements are

The Safety Regulations Of The Automobile Industry
Now days the automobile industry has to stick to a large list of government regulations. While some of them may just be focus on the driver comfort
and an avoiding unnecessary distractions. The government also has safety regulations which has to be strictly impose on every vehicle. Within these
safety regulations there is The Clean Air Act; an act to improve, strengthens, and accelerates programs for the prevention and abatement ofair pollution.
But we always had criminals breaking the rules of society. VW (Volkswagen) committed fraud by having their software engineers programing the
onboard engine management module (ECM) in order to obtain higher profits.

Aristotle made clear that all humans seek to flourish. Well, Volkswagen, as a corporation, was trying to flourish once more but not by good means.
Also Aristotle pronounced that "man is a rational creature who lives in poleis" and what make society are rules, rational rules. Is these are violated
there is going to be a possibility of encountering a highly corrupted society. Aristotle thinks we should be upset if people do well undeservedly. This

The Aristotelian ethics seeks Eudaimonia or what is call happiness. This is the goal of every human being. The executives, who elaborated this fraud,
mandate to have bigger profits because they want to be happier or perhaps they just are vicious men. The software engineer's, that decide to obey,
want to keep their jobs in order to be happy. Also they thought that the public will be happier with their new revolutionary product. It is good to know
that criminal behavior is a sign that the resource is lacking. Aristotle did raise a set of ethical questions that are directly relevant to corporate leaders
who wish to behave in ethical ways, even when Aristotle didn't know anything about

Essay about Analysis of an Advertisement
Analysis of an Advertisement
In this piece of writing we will be analysing adverts published by Guinness. Guinness itself has, according to one of its adverts, been around since
1759. If this is true then this would make Guinness one of the oldest drinks around today, except, of course, water. What really matters for us is that
Guinness has been at the forefront of advertising since the 1920s. Guinness' adverts have constantly changed to both influence and keep up with
changing ideas on gender, as well as giving us a few surprises along the way. In fact Guinness' adverts have been so consistently good that there are
books detailing all of Guinness' adverts. One such book is where this piece gets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This again draws the reader's attention to the top and the word Guinness. This is emphasizing the product name and, in collaboration with the picture,
makes sure that the reader cannot forget what the advert is advertising, as is the case in some more modern adverts. There is a slight pun in the words
"Guinness by–the–sea" as it depicts Guinness as a holiday resort instead of a drink. This lightens the advert up and may make the reader laugh. This is
to make the advert stick in readers' memories, as you are more likely to remember something that you laughed at than something that you found dull
and boring. Also the color helps to achieve this by being very bright.
I believe that the target audience of this advert is the young adults because it shows that drinking Guinness is cool. In this way it appeals to snobbery
and the desire to be cool and to keep up with what is fashionable. It also challenges popular notions of gender by showing women drinking with the
men. In this way it depicts women as equal.
The second advert that we will look at is a T.V commercial from 1996. It is broken up into eight slides. It shows women at work in what were
traditionally considered as men's jobs, like working down a mine and driving a lorry. It also shows a woman beating a man in an arm wrestle and an
empty maternity ward. This is showing that women

Product Development and Module Strategy
The product development and module strategy is the use of modules, or platforms, to communize the unique brands in VW 's portfolio. This approach
is implemented within the production phase where similar parts, technology and systems designs, equipment and knowledge are used in various VW
brands to attain cost savings in procurement, research and development, worker training. This platform strategy was implemented primarily in Europe
where production costs were soaring and profits decreasing. It eliminated various corporate redundancies that had caused the sagging profits. By
borrowing design ideas from VW 's other brands, they were able to utilize common suppliers and eliminate unique sub–structures that added
considerable cost in money, time or technology. This strategy allowed a strong technology/knowledge transfer between plants.
Multi–brand Strategy
The multi–brand strategy was produced from the desire to have a presence in multiple automotive markets, and therefore capture a full range of the
customer spectrum. In addition, it is a solution for one of the negative consequences of the module strategy; it was found that by "commonizing"
(www.forbes.com) some of the lower VW brands (Seat and Skoda) that the VW brands were no longer differentiated. Acquisition of Bentley and
Bugatti in 1997 was a response to this issue, as well as recent financial growth.

understanding and studying about the various cases of high profile corporate misconduct that have occurred in recent times. In this project, the
researcher shall focus on the Satyam scandal, Volkswagenemissions scandal and the ENRON scandal.
Satyam scandal:
The Satyam scam occurred as a result of fraudulent auditing practices and poor corporate governance regimes eventually resulting in corporate
misconduct and one of the biggest scams India has ever seen. The company misrepresented its accounts both to its board, stock exchanges, regulators,
investors and all other stakeholders. It was a case of fraud that misled the market and various other stakeholders by lying about the company's financial

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) found that many VW cars being sold in America had a "defeat device"– or software – in diesel engines
that could detect when they were being tested, changing the performance accordingly to improve results. The German car giant has since admitted
cheating emissions tests in the US.
VW has had a major push to sell diesel cars in the US, backed by a huge marketing campaign trumpeting its cars' low emissions. The EPA's findings
cover 482,000 cars in the US only, including the VW–manufactured Audi A3, and the VW models Jetta, Beetle, Golf and Passat. But VW has admitted
that about 11 million cars worldwide, including eight million in Europe, are fitted with the so–called "defeat device".
The company has also been accused by the EPA of modifying software on the 3 litre diesel engines fitted to some Porsche and Audi as well as VW
models. VW has denied the claims, which affect at least 10,000

Auto Deals Of The United States Automobile Industry Essay
November 2014 automobile deals increment by 5 percent. The great times are proceeding for the US automobile industry, now nearing the end of
its fifth year of recuperation from 2009 's depressively low deals numbers. Most automakers guaranteed sound increments for November 2014,
headed by the Chrysler Group 's 20 percent expansion over a year prior. Deals for Chrysler, Ford and GM additionally expanded while Nissan and
Ford enrolled slight decreases for the month. Jeep deals keep on paing the Chrysler Group. Chrysler, Ford and GM GM keeps on leadding the
business sector, appreciating a 6 percent deals increment for November. Buick and GMC paced deals with Chevrolet deals increasing an
unassuming 3 percent. Nonetheless, Cadillac deals keep on pulling back, falling 19 percent for the month. GM acknowledged Black Friday deals

however there was a ton more at work in the business sector." Mcneil noted that more individuals have employments, family unit riches are on the
bounce back and gas costs are falling. Ford deals succumbed to the third back to back month as the automaker retools to deliver its all–new 2015 Ford

Example Of Semiotic Connotation
The following semiotic deconstruction analysis will advance through three stages, that being description, interpretation and evaluation. However prior
to this it is important to discuss the fact that we are now living in an era of an attention economy. In today's age, consumers are "overwhelmed by the
paradox of choice – so many choices to make, and no easy way to distinguish among the offerings" (Davenport, Harris 2009). Furthermore, since
consumers are bombarded with advert offering its important to avail of whatever attention a brand gets. Thus an attention economy is an approach of
management that treat human attention as scare resources and applies an economic theory to make use of that attention; hence the ability of the brand
to channel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In such respect, a semiotic interpretation would first consist of a description of an image as noted by Schroeder (2002). In principle, the description of
the image would involve studying the aspects of the ad such as the layout, brand blocks used, imagery, tag line, language and among other traits can be
discussed. Volkswagenwas established in Wolfsburg in 1937, it is a German car manufacturer, which has uniquely adopted a wide spectrum of target
audiences. This spectrum goes from college students to professionals as well as to customers in the commercial area. Captivatingly, during the
1960–1970's much of Volkswagen'sadvertising was known to be very thought provoking while illustrating the utilitarian aspects of their vehicles,
however not going beyond the emotional meaning associated with owning a Volkswagen vehicle at that time. As you move through the years
Volkswagen has adopted a strategy in which they want to make people not only feel special if they own a Volkswagen but hoping to build an emotional

Volkswagen 's The Environmental Protection Agency
Volkswagen has found itself entangled in one of the most serious automotive scandals today. On September 18th, 2015 Volkswagen was accused of
installing defective devices into their V6 diesel automobiles; the cars of Audi, Porsche, and Volkswagen, all owned by Volkswagen AG (Customer
Report, customerreports.org) were all affected. When the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was informed of this allegation, they set out an
investigation to see whether this was true or false.
The news broke when the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) had determined thatVolkswagenhad installed a "defeat device," otherwise
known as a software code used to cheat on emissions tests, on approximately 11 million vehicles in the US and Germany (Jason Bisnoff,
NYDailyNews.com). This device would enable the Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) to be trapped during the testing phase, and at the point it was taken off
the dynamometer test device the vehicle would pick up signals that the car is going on the road and the trap would shutoff. By Volkswagen making
this horrific adjustment, they have supported one of the key ingredients in the release of a highly poisonous gas into the environment which produces
smog, contributes to cardiovascular problems, and respiratory problems, such as asthma, and also produces acid rain. This is a bigger issue for the
people who live in Silicon Valley, and all around Southern California; this is very important as people who have these existing medical issues are in

The details of the superior functional design are explained later in this document. Excellence in function of a product is key to its success. Great
functional design in every aspect will help with the ease of use, will give the comfort and make the product work the way it should. A great design
is not only one that is functional, the beauty and feeling of a design is a key for us to feel good about a product. A great product with no feeling will
fail. A beautiful design helps to create a relation between us and a product. A car with the same specification as aVolkswagenBeatle will never make

Bridal Table Essay
Your Aunt Carole and Uncle Earl have been feuding since the 80s, your last single girlfriend is hypersensitive to being seated at the "wrong" table,
and you have one couple coming from out of the country who only know you. Or perhaps your parents are divorced. How can you please
everyone? Seating dilemmas have cost brides and grooms many sleepless nights before the big day. You want every guest to feel special, but if you
have to rearrange that seating chart one more time, you 're going to lose it. What to do? With a little tact, diplomacy and common sense (along with
those deep breathing exercises you learned in yoga), you can create a seating plan that will make almost everyone happy.

Speak to your caterer or wedding coordinator to determine this. If not, you might simply designate the bridal table with place cards, and allow the other
guests to seat themselves. Some couples opt to have a cocktail party or buffet with a few tables, in hopes that guests will "alternate" sitting and eating.
If this is what you plan to do, make sure that your elderly guests have a place to sit down, possibly even by designating a separate table for them.
Who Sits Where?
The Bridal Table. The bride and groom may sit at a long rectangular head table or round table at the focal point of the room, or alternatively, at their
very own "sweetheart" table. Some couples choose to have no table at all, but to leave a few seats empty at every table so they can mingle
throughout the reception. No matter which configuration you choose, the bridal table is usually set apart from the others by some type of decoration,
such as flowers. Classically, the groom sits to the bride 's right and the best man sits to her left. The maid of honor sits to the groom 's right. Depending
on how large the table is, the other attendants should be scattered around. In the old days, spouses and significant others were relegated to different
tables, but let 's think about that for a minute... It seems rather unfair to separate couples during an entire wedding dinner and dance, so be sensitive. If

Ethical Dilemmas In The Volkswagen Company
The German automobile manufacturer, Volkswagen, knowingly jeopardized their company to cheat emission tests, result producing a cleaner type of
diesel. The actions leading to the unethical decisions by German automaker was not the fault of an individual, but rather problems throughout the entire
corporation. For a greater understanding of the event that took place within Volkswagenit is best to examine the different divisions of the organization
and the individuals' decision, which was the leading cause in one of the biggest consumer class–action settlements in the United States (Judge approves
$15B Volkswagen, 2015). We will look at how the scandal could have been avoided in addition to what measures can be implemented to prevent future
unethical scandals.
The Volkswagen Company made numerous unethical decisions resulting in one of the worst corporate scandal in modern times (Where were the
lawyers, 2015). Who was involved in the scandal? What were those unethical decisions, and what are the results of immoral decision? To properly
examine the scandal it is best to critically analyze the situation based on legal factors. "If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn't do
it, it is sin for them" (James 4:17, New International Version). An illegal program was installed in 11 million Volkswagen vehicles worldwide, which
allowed the manipulation of results in pollution tests. Despite knowing this was unethical, Volkswagen knowingly made a

In both cases, bigger is better. The larger the operating margin and the greater the velocity, the greater the return on invested capital. Traditionally, most

Volkswagen's Emission Scandal: Utilitarian Philosophy Of...
This philosophical study will analyze the Volkswagen emissions scandal as a an ethical business study in the context of the utilitarian philosophy of
John Stuart Mill. Traditionally, the Volkswagen has been known to be a environmentally safe vehicle due to high levels of performance standards in
terms of carbon emissions. However, Volkswagenhad illegally programmed the turbocharged direct injection (TDI) controls in the car to only work
when the car was being tested by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). In 2015, Volkswagen was charged with emitting high levels of carbon
emissions in its diesel automobiles, which illustrates a cost–cutting method that led to higher air pollution rates. The Utilitarian ethical argument
identifies the highly individualistic role that Volkswagen executives brought forth by deceiving the customer that they were buying an environmental
friendly product. This deviation from the "happiness principle" defines why the individual selfishness of Volkswagen brought... Show more content on

The VW corporation was found to be guilty of falsifying programming for the emissions system, but the executives that were responsible for this
corporate action are protected by corporate law for damages to the environment and to the health of human beings. In highly unregulated system of
corporate law, it is very difficult to punish or remove the executives that were responsible for this unethical act. Many corporate legal cases end up
being settled out of court with financial compensation for damages. However, the ramifications of air pollution related to VW's emissions violations
prove to be a much harder case to prove in the courts. This is part of the brazen disregard for the greater good that the VW executives possessed when
deliberately programming the TDI controllers during the initial testing

My Opinion Volkswagen ( Vw ) Made A Very Wise Decision By...
In my opinion Volkswagen (VW) made a very wise decision by choosing Deutsch LA agency to market themselves. The agency focused on informing
customers by different advertising techniques such as direct–marketing and digital/interactive marketing. VW used direct–marketing by sending
brochures and promotional offers or coupons to the targeted customers (Belch & Belch, 2015, p. 21). There was also use of various TV
commercials to let the customers know about different VW models and changing the view of the customers (Belch & Belch, 2015, p. 68). Today,
people is engaged most of the time in social media or looking for certain information in Google. Deutsch LA agency took advantage of it and made
VW reachable to the customers through Facebook and Twitter which allowed the customers to follow them, get information regarding the vehicles
and interact directly with the company. Besides, the YouTube video too helped to increase the followers in the social media largely which was a plus
point for them (Belch & Belch, 2015, p. 68). Advertising is very important for an automotive company such as VW because customers needs to be
informed time and again what products have been launched and what offers are they getting. As, advertising is one of the best way to attract customers
and interact with them so the automotive companies should be careful while investing their every penny. For example, we can learn a good lesson
from VW. There was a time when people didn't even knew what products

Porsche And Volkswagen Group Case Study
Unit 4 Team Exercise
The invention of automobiles had been dated long back in history. From that day till now, it had not only made our lives easier but also simpler. From
times back then till now many big automobile companies had came into existence, some of them were successful and some were not, thus going out of
market and competition. Among them, Porsche and Volkswagen Group(VW) have emerged as one of the world leaders in automobile industry.
Through years of hardwork and sheer use of technology and engineering developments, both of these companies have carved a name for themselves in
their respective markets. But sometimes, bad management and several areas of conflict arise between two companies that can lead to its downfall. In
this case too the CEO of Porsche, just wanted to administer each and everything according to his own ways and rules, but on the other hand the CEO of
Volkswagen, even after facing huge loses wanted to continue on with his strategy because he was quite confident about his strategy and clearly had a
broader outlook of the scenario. Therefore, due to having different mindsets, there was a conflict between the ideas of two which led to the decline of
one of them. These conflicts can be summed up in the following couple of questions:
1.Identify and discuss the sources of conflict between Porsche and Volkswagen executives.
Well, throughout this case there was a sense of internal war between the executives of two of the world's largest automobile companies. Wiedeking, the
CEO of Porsche, can be seen as a dominating personality throughout this case. Wiedeking was famous for his efficient production and astute marketing,
which turned Porsche into world's most profitable car company. Therefore, keeping this same attitude in mind, he wanted to make some major changes
in the Volkswagen group(VW) because he was aiming to achieve something big. He wanted to remove inefficient operations and also insisted on
shutting down the production lines of some cars like 'Phaeton' and 'Buggati', which according to him were not highly profitable and were a commercial
failure. On the other hand, Ferdinand Piech, the CEO of Volkswagen group, had something else in his mind. Unlike Wiedeking, who only focused

Jetta was launched in 1983 and Phaeton in 2002. Thereafter, New Beetle was launched to recreate the magic of the original Beetle.
The group entered India in 2001 with Skoda. Its plant in Aurangabad assembled a few models of Audi and
Volkswagen as well. Audi and Volkswagen were launched in India in 2004 and 2007, respectively. In 2010, a stateof
–the–art production facility was
set up at Chakan near Pune with an investment of Rs. 35 billion to manufacture Polo and Vento indigenously. The plant also manufactured Skoda Fabia
and Skoda Rapid as they were built on the Polo platform. Despite sharing common product platforms, the three brands were distinctly positioned.
Skoda was positioned as less premium than VW which was positioned as more premium than even Honda and
Toyota. Audi was positioned at par with BMW and Mercedes in the luxury category (see Exhibit 2 for positioning of various players). While the group
integrated the back–end of technology, human resource, and finance across the three brands, the front–end of dealers was scrupulously kept separate.
Despite its careful planning, there existed an anomaly. Skoda was perceived to be a more up–market label than VW in
India. This was owing to Skoda's history in India. Skoda was launched in 2001 with the Octavia, a premium car.

Porsche Changes Tack Essay
Porsche Changes Tack
Yes, of course, we have heard of shareholder value. But that does not change the fact that we put customers first, then workers, then business partners,
suppliers and dealers, and then shareholders. Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking, CEO, Porsche, Die Zeit, April 17, 2005.
Porsche had always been different. Statements by Porsche leadership, like the one above, always made Veselina (Vesi) Dinova nervous about the
company's attitude about creating shareholder value. The company was a paradox. Porsche's attitudes and activities were like that of a family–owned
firm, but it had succeeded in creating substantial shareholder value for more than a decade. Porsche's CEO, Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking, had been

Efficiency is not really critical because the firm's financial goals are not exclusively shareholder–oriented since they are constrained by the other
stakeholders. In any case, stakeholder capitalism assumes that long–term "loyal" shareholders–typically, controlling shareholders–rather than the
transient portfolio investor should influence corporate strategy. Although both philosophies have their strengths and weaknesses, two trends in recent
years have led to an increasing focus on shareholder wealth. First, as more of the non–Anglo–American markets have increasingly privatized their
industries, the shareholder wealth focus is seemingly needed to attract international capital from outside investors, many of whom are from other
countries. Second, and still quite controversial, many analysts believe that shareholder–based multinationals are increasingly dominating their global
industry segments.

4. The reason that I would separate myself from this engagement is if the organization fails to be Truthful, Unwilling to change, Washes its hands of
the fault. The key to recovery for the organization is to be truthful and hiding facts from stakeholders would create a negative feedback loop that would
just push the organization backwards instead of forward to recovery.
The second item is if VW would be unwilling to change its ways and value sales and profit over integrity to stakeholders. VW was already caught
cheating just to win awards and surpass its completion, but if its willing to continually do this and not change for the better it would be best not to
continue the engagement with the organization.
Lastly, if the company continues to put the blame on individuals who aren't with the organization anymore or continually say that the decision wasn't
made during their tenure. Owning up to the mistake as an organization will show sincerity and would keep people closer to the organization than just
completely being distrusted. Overall, the fault was made by VW and VW as an organization and not who ever individual was managing the

Volkswagen Ad Comparison
1)The print advertisement I choose for this assignment was the 1960 Volkswagen ad "Lemon" by DDB. This advertisement used by Volkswagen was
predominantly a reminding advertisement to show the public that there's more to Hitler's favorite car. This ad reminded people not only of the Beetle,
but all VW's are in fact held to superior forms of quality, and craftsmanship. The ad itself right away draws your attention, you see a black–and–white
beetle over the words, lemon. At the moment you think is this a comparative ad from one of Volkswagencompetitors, but it's not. Deeper into the ad
you see why they call it a lemon; the car may look perfect to the naked, but to VW's standards it's not. This ad draws your attention in, and it engages
you to think just, why is VW calling one of their cars a lemon? It communicates to you that not only VW, but in the grand scheme of things German
engineering or craftsmanship, is held above all else.

I choose this ad unparticular because its new, and in a short video says a lot about Volkswagen. One thing VW does is that their commercial is
always weird, and unconventional, but they work, because people remember them. In this commercial I believe predominantly it is a comparative
ad, but not most of it. In the commercial it states and shows how well equipped the Passat is in standard equipment compared to other vehicles in
its class. The ads are bright, colorful, and informative about the car, making sound like it's a great deal, but it also brings up memories. In the ad
the song "On The Road Again" by Willie Nelson is playing, and he also makes a cameo driving an old VW thing. The song and cameo sparks a
nostalgic feel within the commercial to the people who experienced the 60's. I think this ad is a good one it information the public on how well
equipped the car is by engaging the viewer in a nice communicable

A Bad Movie : What Makes A Movie Bad?
I don't know about you, but I love going to the movies. The smell of the popcorn, a crowded theater and a hopefully great movie can make for an
enjoyable experience. However, there are those times where someone in your theater makes the experience horrible. It can make a great movie
into a terrible experience, and it can make a bad movie worse. With this paper, I intend to give you some helpful pointers on how to avoid making a
movie bad for those around you. Hopefully if you don't already follow some of these hints you will in the future. Good theater etiquette starts
before you even get to the theater. Some of the worst experiences I have had have involved people coming into the movie after the movie has
started. It is never great when someone comes in late and either must walk in front of you or try to squeeze around you to get to a seat. If you
come in late then you must choose your battle. If its close enough to the beginning of the movie then hopefully you can manage to get to a seat
during the opening credits. If you come late, try to get to a seat while disturbing as few people as you can. Do not try squeezing into the middle of
the row when there are seats available on the end. One time I was sitting and trying to pay attention as the movie started when someone decided to
squeeze down the row. Being tall that means I need to stand up, instead of just moving my legs. There I was, as the movie is starting, standing up and
blocking the view of people behind me as

Visual Ad Analysis America; a country that revolves around technology. From smartphones to social media, we cannot escape the digital world
lurking around us at every moment of the day. One of the takeaways of the digital age that we are living is the effect on America's youth. They are
constantly being bombarded with pixels on a screen. As video games and television become more and more violent and realistic, adolescents
become wrapped up in the virtual world instead of reality. A quote from Tom Bissell reads,"We are no longer worried that children are missing class
because of video games, though. We are worried that they are murdering their classmates because of video games." One prime example of the effects
of video games and television is illustrated in a lego ad created by DDB Communications Group in early 2009. The ad uses numerous strategies
such as violent images and thought provoking captions to not only appeal to the audience's values, but also to create an impactful impression that
pushes their product to the next level. The ad pictures a man who appears to be in his late teens, early twenties, sitting on a couch with a pixelated
gun to his temple. His eyes are screwed shut as if he is struggling and the collar of his shirt is drenched in sweat. To the right of him, on the coffee
table, sits a bottle of liquor and a glass tipped over; indicating that he has been drinking. There also is newspaper crumpled

The Importance Of Lust In Philomeda ', 'Tales From Ovid'
Lust is a strong feeling of desire for someone or something which can turn into a dangerous feeling if it is not handled in the right manner. Lust can
cause one to do things that they wouldn't normally do, especially if it overwhelms one's mind set. It is a hard feeling to ignore, but ignoring it is for
the best because then dangerous situations will be avoided. In the myth "Tereus", Tereus is overwhelmed by lust for Philomela, which leads him torape
and abuse. In the myth "Castillo and Arcas", Jupiter has a deep desire for Castillo, so he rapes her and leaves Castillo pregnant and alone. In the myth
"Phaethon", his lust for power causes him to put the entire earth in danger. In Tales From Ovid, byTed Hughes, Ovid conveys that when one is
consumed by a deep feeling of lust, their morals shift. In the myth "Tereus", Tereus, the protagonist, is overcome by lust for his wife's sister,
Philomela, which makes him do gruesome things. His wife's only desire was to see her sister. Tereus was able to fulfill her desires, but the
moment he laid eyes on her, he couldn't help his feelings of lust. This deep and demented feeling of lust drove him to kidnap her, abuse her, and
rape her. Ovid shows his change in morals by saying, "The lust that took hold of him now combined the elemental forces of his national character and
his own" (Hughes page 215). Ovid then goes on to conveys how strongly he desires Philomela by using the simile, "His lust was like an iron furnace–

Slim Wallets Research Paper
Why Slim Wallets are Great Clutch Replacements for Women During the day, the average woman can easily get away with carrying a purse that is
big enough to carry virtually anything needed. This includes a thick clutch or wallet filled with cash, I.D. cards, and credit or debit cards. Then
there are things like hairbrushes, makeup, tissues, keys, and everything but the kitchen sink. When going out for a night on the town, no one wants
to carry this kind of load around. Slim wallets make a much better option and here is why. Slim Wallets Let You Ditch the Load When you spend
your day carrying a purse that weighs nearly as much as a small suitcase, the last thing you want to deal with is carrying this load around at night.
Face it, when you are going out for a meal or dancing, you need something much smaller to carry around with you. Clutches are handy, but may not be

The Canadian innovation & commercialization program was developed in 2012 (Government Services Canada, 2017). To develop leadership and talent
for innovation, the think tank also suggested a national learning strategy to raise the average competency level of Canadians. This policy suggestion
has not been put into action which may give support to the forum discussion, where it was suggested that countries are shifting their educational
responsibility towards greater privatization and commercialization (Regmi, 2017, February 1). By handing over educational responsibilities to
commercial forces, Canada may evade the long–established responsibility of OECD countries to follow fundamental educational values based on
social justice and equality (Brown & Tannok, 2009). At a local level and as an educator and parent, I see no indication that schooling is preparing

How the Advertiser Presents the Product to the Consumer and Comparing the Adverts in Mercedes–Benz and Chrysler Voyagers Ads
I have chosen to compare two adverts on cars. They are for a Mercedes–Benz and a Chrysler Voyager. I will be looking at all aspects of my chosen
adverts and comparing them to each other.
The advert for the Mercedes–Benz is very personal, and is constantly putting the reader in the driver's seat. It is laid out like a cinema screen, and that
comparison continues throughout the advert. The picture is very passive and immediately places the reader at the centre of the advert, and the whole

It then reinforces that message by saying 'I sat back in my seat and watched the world outside'. It gives the feeling that the reader is in the car. It
also reinforces the feeling of a cinema screen by saying 'watched the world outside unfold upon the screen as if it were a silent movie'. This makes
the reader feel important, and detached from the outside of the car. This is the feeling that the writers want to convey, as it presents a positive
picture of what being in the car would feel like. This image that has been presented, of the reader in the driver's seat, is backed up by the picture of
the view, through the windscreen, from the driver's point of view. The language used in the top section is very flowing, as the ride in the car would
be, and it has been made smoother by use of alliteration such as 'watched the world', and 'unfold upon'.
The bottom section of text starts by saying 'Picture the scene'. This immediately makes the reader think of a scene in a movie, and then it backs that
up by saying 'set against the evenings pale and chaotic backdrop'. It also makes the reader the most important person in this scene by saying that
everything is pale and boring, and chaotic in comparison to the Mercedes and its owner. The text then goes on to make the car seem more that just a

Porsche is a company that prides itself in quality and customer satisfaction. Because of this customers are always considered to be first priority for the
company. The only issue with this business method is that the shareholders do not feel valued. Porsche operates more like a family–owned firm instead

willingness to do so. What do you think?
We think all companies should take shareholders' value into consideration as long as they issue stocks publicly traded, and thus need to have some
ability to at least stimulate the shareholders' interest or curiosity. Yet a company still has a choice whether to actually focus on its shareholders' value
like other companies do. This Porsche's case clearly explains its unique managerial/marketing strategy that the company essentially focuses on cost
control, development of new products, and brand loyalty and high quality of its automobiles that arouse customers' desire to possess. Therefore, in our
opinion, Porsche doesn't put its shareholders' value on the first priority, but it still has to show some returns (results) for its shareholders.
3.Is pursuing the interests of Porsche's controlling families different from maximizing the return to its public share owners?
"Pursuing the interests of Porsche's controlling families" seems different from "maximizing the return to its public share owners" because in general
increasing owner's interests doesn't necessarily mean maximizing shareholders' interests. Like other companies

Kyocera Essay
1. Would Kyocera be a good company to work for? Why or why not?
I feel that Kyocera would be a great company to work for. I believe that the company practices not only to the firms business but its employees as
well. This is the very least I can say about companies in America. Everyday you turn on the T.V you hear about mass layoffs and ethics not be
pursued correctly in our country. I think that Kyocera should be a model firm that all businesses should admire and strive to be after. Just the simple
facts that Mr. Inamori would stay late working at his own business are phenomenal, and a practice should be rewarded.
2. Is Inamori's leadership style linked to Kyocera's core competencies? Why or why not?
Yes, I believe it is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Do you think Americans would respond differently than Europeans? Why or why not?
Both of the ad campaigns for "We, On Death Row", and earlier controversial campaigns of the 1990's where advertisements that were sometimes
disturbing and received a lot of criticisms from their audiences, but were still very influential. The earlier ads of the company focused more on world
issues, while the "Death Row" ads focused more on the issues that are in the United States alone, and that's our prison system.
Yes, I think the Europeans and Americans would have a different response because Europeans come across as more liberal in the fact and matters
regarding social issues. Americans sometimes appear more rigid and easily offended because they care more about the well being and image of our
country.
3.There is a saying in the marketing world that "there is no such thing as bad publicity." Does that apply in the Benetton case?
Yes, that statement very well applies to the Benetton case. Even though this company is best known for its controversial campaigns and advertisements,
this company has still been a staple and a well known name in not only the clothing marketing industry, but in the product marketing industry as a
whole.
I believe if they marketed their products like other companies, they too would be lost in the limelight of thousands of other

Advertising is a form of art that advertisers used to persuade a common mind and change the opinion of that person about particular product or to introduce him with a new product. As living this fast pace life when nobody can afford to spend their precious time to look for new trends and impressive innovation, but at the same time want to meet the standards of society by owning and acknowledging about these trends, then advertising is the most convenient way to seek information about anything new in market or new trends. This is the reason that ads are getting a huge amount of popularity in our society and they are everywhere, does not matter whether we are in a public place or at home, does not matter you are interested in these ads and message they are conveying you, there is always something or someone chasing us for giving unwanted suggestions or information. • 5. Essay about Analysis of an Advertisement Analysis of an Advertisement In this piece of writing we will be analysing adverts published by Guinness. Guinness itself has, according to one of its adverts, been around since 1759. If this is true then this would make Guinness one of the oldest drinks around today, except, of course, water. What really matters for us is that Guinness has been at the forefront of advertising since the 1920s. Guinness' adverts have constantly changed to both influence and keep up with changing ideas on gender, as well as giving us a few surprises along the way. In fact Guinness' adverts have been so consistently good that there are books detailing all of Guinness' adverts. One such book is where this piece gets ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This again draws the reader's attention to the top and the word Guinness. This is emphasizing the product name and, in collaboration with the picture, makes sure that the reader cannot forget what the advert is advertising, as is the case in some more modern adverts. There is a slight pun in the words "Guinness by–the–sea" as it depicts Guinness as a holiday resort instead of a drink. This lightens the advert up and may make the reader laugh. This is to make the advert stick in readers' memories, as you are more likely to remember something that you laughed at than something that you found dull and boring. Also the color helps to achieve this by being very bright. I believe that the target audience of this advert is the young adults because it shows that drinking Guinness is cool. In this way it appeals to snobbery and the desire to be cool and to keep up with what is fashionable. It also challenges popular notions of gender by showing women drinking with the men. In this way it depicts women as equal. The second advert that we will look at is a T.V commercial from 1996. It is broken up into eight slides. It shows women at work in what were traditionally considered as men's jobs, like working down a mine and driving a lorry. It also shows a woman beating a man in an arm wrestle and an empty maternity ward. This is showing that women ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Product Development and Module Strategy The product development and module strategy is the use of modules, or platforms, to communize the unique brands in VW 's portfolio. This approach is implemented within the production phase where similar parts, technology and systems designs, equipment and knowledge are used in various VW brands to attain cost savings in procurement, research and development, worker training. This platform strategy was implemented primarily in Europe where production costs were soaring and profits decreasing. It eliminated various corporate redundancies that had caused the sagging profits. By borrowing design ideas from VW 's other brands, they were able to utilize common suppliers and eliminate unique sub–structures that added considerable cost in money, time or technology. This strategy allowed a strong technology/knowledge transfer between plants. Multi–brand Strategy The multi–brand strategy was produced from the desire to have a presence in multiple automotive markets, and therefore capture a full range of the customer spectrum. In addition, it is a solution for one of the negative consequences of the module strategy; it was found that by "commonizing" (www.forbes.com) some of the lower VW brands (Seat and Skoda) that the VW brands were no longer differentiated. Acquisition of Bentley and Bugatti in 1997 was a response to this issue, as well as recent financial growth.

However prior to this it is important to discuss the fact that we are now living in an era of an attention economy. • 14. Volkswagen 's The Environmental Protection Agency Volkswagen has found itself entangled in one of the most serious automotive scandals today. On September 18th, 2015 Volkswagen was accused of installing defective devices into their V6 diesel automobiles; the cars of Audi, Porsche, and Volkswagen, all owned by Volkswagen AG (Customer Report, customerreports.org) were all affected. When the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) was informed of this allegation, they set out an investigation to see whether this was true or false. The news broke when the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) had determined thatVolkswagenhad installed a "defeat device," otherwise known as a software code used to cheat on emissions tests, on approximately 11 million vehicles in the US and Germany (Jason Bisnoff, NYDailyNews.com). This device would enable the Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) to be trapped during the testing phase, and at the point it was taken off the dynamometer test device the vehicle would pick up signals that the car is going on the road and the trap would shutoff. By Volkswagen making this horrific adjustment, they have supported one of the key ingredients in the release of a highly poisonous gas into the environment which produces smog, contributes to cardiovascular problems, and respiratory problems, such as asthma, and also produces acid rain. • 20. Volkswagen's Emission Scandal: Utilitarian Philosophy Of... This philosophical study will analyze the Volkswagen emissions scandal as a an ethical business study in the context of the utilitarian philosophy of John Stuart Mill. Traditionally, the Volkswagen has been known to be a environmentally safe vehicle due to high levels of performance standards in terms of carbon emissions. However, Volkswagenhad illegally programmed the turbocharged direct injection (TDI) controls in the car to only work when the car was being tested by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). In 2015, Volkswagen was charged with emitting high levels of carbon emissions in its diesel automobiles, which illustrates a cost–cutting method that led to higher air pollution rates. The agency focused on informing customers by different advertising techniques such as direct–marketing and digital/interactive marketing. VW used direct–marketing by sending brochures and promotional offers or coupons to the targeted customers (Belch & Belch, 2015, p. 21). There was also use of various TV commercials to let the customers know about different VW models and changing the view of the customers (Belch & Belch, 2015, p. 68). Today, people is engaged most of the time in social media or looking for certain information in Google. Deutsch LA agency took advantage of it and made VW reachable to the customers through Facebook and Twitter which allowed the customers to follow them, get information regarding the vehicles and interact directly with the company. Besides, the YouTube video too helped to increase the followers in the social media largely which was a plus point for them (Belch & Belch, 2015, p. 68). Advertising is very important for an automotive company such as VW because customers needs to be informed time and again what products have been launched and what offers are they getting. As, advertising is one of the best way to attract customers and interact with them so the automotive companies should be careful while investing their every penny. From times back then till now many big automobile companies had came into existence, some of them were successful and some were not, thus going out of market and competition. Among them, Porsche and Volkswagen Group(VW) have emerged as one of the world leaders in automobile industry. Through years of hardwork and sheer use of technology and engineering developments, both of these companies have carved a name for themselves in their respective markets. But sometimes, bad management and several areas of conflict arise between two companies that can lead to its downfall. In this case too the CEO of Porsche, just wanted to administer each and everything according to his own ways and rules, but on the other hand the CEO of Volkswagen, even after facing huge loses wanted to continue on with his strategy because he was quite confident about his strategy and clearly had a broader outlook of the scenario. Therefore, due to having different mindsets, there was a conflict between the ideas of two which led to the decline of one of them. These conflicts can be summed up in the following couple of questions: 1.Identify and discuss the sources of conflict between Porsche and Volkswagen executives. Well, throughout this case there was a sense of internal war between the executives of two of the world's largest automobile companies. Wiedeking, the CEO of Porsche, can be seen as a dominating personality throughout this case. Wiedeking was famous for his efficient production and astute marketing, which turned Porsche into world's most profitable car company. Therefore, keeping this same attitude in mind, he wanted to make some major changes in the Volkswagen group(VW) because he was aiming to achieve something big. He wanted to remove inefficient operations and also insisted on shutting down the production lines of some cars like 'Phaeton' and 'Buggati', which according to him were not highly profitable and were a commercial failure. The second item is if VW would be unwilling to change its ways and value sales and profit over integrity to stakeholders. VW was already caught cheating just to win awards and surpass its completion, but if its willing to continually do this and not change for the better it would be best not to continue the engagement with the organization. • 36. Volkswagen Ad Comparison 1)The print advertisement I choose for this assignment was the 1960 Volkswagen ad "Lemon" by DDB. This advertisement used by Volkswagen was predominantly a reminding advertisement to show the public that there's more to Hitler's favorite car. This ad reminded people not only of the Beetle, but all VW's are in fact held to superior forms of quality, and craftsmanship. The ad itself right away draws your attention, you see a black–and–white beetle over the words, lemon. At the moment you think is this a comparative ad from one of Volkswagencompetitors, but it's not. Deeper into the ad you see why they call it a lemon; the car may look perfect to the naked, but to VW's standards it's not. This ad draws your attention in, and it engages you to think just, why is VW calling one of their cars a lemon? It communicates to you that not only VW, but in the grand scheme of things German engineering or craftsmanship, is held above all else. 2) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I choose this ad unparticular because its new, and in a short video says a lot about Volkswagen. One thing VW does is that their commercial is always weird, and unconventional, but they work, because people remember them. In this commercial I believe predominantly it is a comparative ad, but not most of it. In the commercial it states and shows how well equipped the Passat is in standard equipment compared to other vehicles in its class. The ads are bright, colorful, and informative about the car, making sound like it's a great deal, but it also brings up memories. In the ad the song "On The Road Again" by Willie Nelson is playing, and he also makes a cameo driving an old VW thing. The song and cameo sparks a nostalgic feel within the commercial to the people who experienced the 60's. The smell of the popcorn, a crowded theater and a hopefully great movie can make for an enjoyable experience. However, there are those times where someone in your theater makes the experience horrible. It can make a great movie into a terrible experience, and it can make a bad movie worse. With this paper, I intend to give you some helpful pointers on how to avoid making a movie bad for those around you. Hopefully if you don't already follow some of these hints you will in the future. Good theater etiquette starts before you even get to the theater. Some of the worst experiences I have had have involved people coming into the movie after the movie has started. It is never great when someone comes in late and either must walk in front of you or try to squeeze around you to get to a seat. If you come in late then you must choose your battle. If its close enough to the beginning of the movie then hopefully you can manage to get to a seat during the opening credits. If you come late, try to get to a seat while disturbing as few people as you can. Do not try squeezing into the middle of the row when there are seats available on the end. One time I was sitting and trying to pay attention as the movie started when someone decided to squeeze down the row. Being tall that means I need to stand up, instead of just moving my legs. There I was, as the movie is starting, standing up and blocking the view of people behind me as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

From smartphones to social media, we cannot escape the digital world lurking around us at every moment of the day. One of the takeaways of the digital age that we are living is the effect on America's youth. They are constantly being bombarded with pixels on a screen. As video games and television become more and more violent and realistic, adolescents become wrapped up in the virtual world instead of reality. A quote from Tom Bissell reads,"We are no longer worried that children are missing class because of video games, though. We are worried that they are murdering their classmates because of video games." One prime example of the effects of video games and television is illustrated in a lego ad created by DDB Communications Group in early 2009. The ad uses numerous strategies such as violent images and thought provoking captions to not only appeal to the audience's values, but also to create an impactful impression that pushes their product to the next level. The ad pictures a man who appears to be in his late teens, early twenties, sitting on a couch with a pixelated gun to his temple. His eyes are screwed shut as if he is struggling and the collar of his shirt is drenched in sweat. To the right of him, on the coffee table, sits a bottle of liquor and a glass tipped over; indicating that he has been drinking. There also is newspaper crumpled ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. The Importance Of Lust In Philomeda ', 'Tales From Ovid' Lust is a strong feeling of desire for someone or something which can turn into a dangerous feeling if it is not handled in the right manner. Lust can cause one to do things that they wouldn't normally do, especially if it overwhelms one's mind set. It is a hard feeling to ignore, but ignoring it is for the best because then dangerous situations will be avoided. In the myth "Tereus", Tereus is overwhelmed by lust for Philomela, which leads him torape and abuse. In the myth "Castillo and Arcas", Jupiter has a deep desire for Castillo, so he rapes her and leaves Castillo pregnant and alone. In the myth "Phaethon", his lust for power causes him to put the entire earth in danger. In Tales From Ovid, byTed Hughes, Ovid conveys that when one is consumed by a deep feeling of lust, their morals shift. In the myth "Tereus", Tereus, the protagonist, is overcome by lust for his wife's sister, Philomela, which makes him do gruesome things. His wife's only desire was to see her sister. Tereus was able to fulfill her desires, but the moment he laid eyes on her, he couldn't help his feelings of lust. This deep and demented feeling of lust drove him to kidnap her, abuse her, and rape her. Ovid shows his change in morals by saying, "The lust that took hold of him now combined the elemental forces of his national character and his own" (Hughes page 215). Ovid then goes on to conveys how strongly he desires Philomela by using the simile, "His lust was like an iron furnace– first black, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

By handing over educational responsibilities to commercial forces, Canada may evade the long–established responsibility of OECD countries to follow fundamental educational values based on social justice and equality (Brown & Tannok, 2009). How the Advertiser Presents the Product to the Consumer and Comparing the Adverts in Mercedes–Benz and Chrysler Voyagers Ads I have chosen to compare two adverts on cars. They are for a Mercedes–Benz and a Chrysler Voyager. I will be looking at all aspects of my chosen adverts and comparing them to each other. The advert for the Mercedes–Benz is very personal, and is constantly putting the reader in the driver's seat. It is laid out like a cinema screen, and that comparison continues throughout the advert. It also reinforces the feeling of a cinema screen by saying 'watched the world outside unfold upon the screen as if it were a silent movie'. This makes the reader feel important, and detached from the outside of the car. This is the feeling that the writers want to convey, as it presents a positive picture of what being in the car would feel like. This image that has been presented, of the reader in the driver's seat, is backed up by the picture of the view, through the windscreen, from the driver's point of view. What do you think? We think all companies should take shareholders' value into consideration as long as they issue stocks publicly traded, and thus need to have some ability to at least stimulate the shareholders' interest or curiosity. Yet a company still has a choice whether to actually focus on its shareholders' value like other companies do. This Porsche's case clearly explains its unique managerial/marketing strategy that the company essentially focuses on cost control, development of new products, and brand loyalty and high quality of its automobiles that arouse customers' desire to possess. Therefore, in our opinion, Porsche doesn't put its shareholders' value on the first priority, but it still has to show some returns (results) for its shareholders. 3.Is pursuing the interests of Porsche's controlling families different from maximizing the return to its public share owners?
