The Misuse Of Drugs Act
Laws are created by parliament which is made up by the MP'S society votes for during the election
process. The Misuse of Drugs Act (1971) was introduced to prevent the misuse of controlled drugs
such as cannabis, amphetamine and other drugs stated in the Act. The Act attempts to prevent the
misuse of drugs by making it a criminal offence to be in possession or supply, manufacture, import
and export drugs (Drugscope, 2015). The Act also gives the Home secretary authority to ban new
drugs and increase the penalties associated with them. Sometimes the government will set out a
proposal for a new law in a document known as a green paper which then faces scrutiny and
discussion this could be by experts in the area that the proposed Law intends to change/ affect or a
select committee within parliament. The proposal can then be changed and made into a white paper.
This then forms the Bill which gets introduced into Parliament (Making laws: How a law is made
part 2 of 2, 2009). There are 2 different types of Bills a private and a public Bill. The Misuse of
Drugs Act (1971) was a public Bill as it affects the public. These also have 2 categories, government
Bills and Private member bills. The Misuse of Drugs Act (1971) was a government Bill. A bill goes
through a consultation stage where the opinion of others is noted on what the proposed Law should
say. This usually takes place before the Bill is introduced to Parliament. A Bill can either go through
the House of Commons or Lords

Compare And Contrast Montana 1948 And Twelve Angry Men
Both Montana 1948 and Twelve Angry Men exemplify that justice provides rules and powers and
the complex consequences of misusing this in the society. Although they do so in diverse ways.
Twelve Angry Men, written by Reginald Rose, demonstrated the misuse of power, when most of the
jurors failed to use the different principles of the justice system. In the beginning of the play, eleven
out of twelve jurors voted "guilty" towards a crime that had no sufficient evidence. However, after
much debate, and the heroic effort of the 8th Juror who gave a "not guilty" verdict, prevented the
punishment being wrongfully applied. Similar ideas were explored in Montana 1948, a novel written
by Larry Watson. The misuse of power is evidently portrayed by the Hayden's Family, as they used
their good reputations to manipulate the town of Montana and operate above the law. They took
advantage of the people who had no influence within the society which resulted in the distortion of
facts and the corruption of justice. Whereas each text exhibited that many, but not all characters had
shown broad prejudice and tendentiousness against the people who had little power that leads into
sophisticated effects such that miserableness, suffering, family breakdown and especially ruining the
justice system.
In the play Twelve Angry Men, the people who had little power in the society was delineated by a
young European boy, who was accused of killing his own father. The misconception about the case

Alcohol Misuse Of Alcoholic Misuse
Alcohol use can be a main supplier of many intricate psychological experiences within the human
practice, it is somewhat of an enhancer and for that reason it can sometimes be abused or over used.
For this critical essay the argument put forth will be enhanced by the ideals of Type I and Type II
alcoholic misuse quantified by Higley & Bennet (1999). Type I entails the alcohol misuse being the
main instigator of anxiety and situational stress, whereas Type II complies with users experiencing
impulse control issues promoted by biological tendencies. These two types of alcohol exploitation
are the main reasons the continual misuse of alcoholic substances occurs. This critical essay intends
to describe these types of alcohol mismanagement and argue how consumers of alcohol use it as a
deterrent to circumvent these psychological variables and discuss how combined psychological and
biological variables are the impetus for alcoholism. Furthermore discovering the dependent and
independent variables of alcohol use and how they affect one another.

The Misuse Of Education
Nelson Mandela once said "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change
the world." Depending on how you use education, to help to world or to manipulate the world, it is a
powerful weapon to be used. The global community has several issues and problems that need
addressed and fixed, however, the lack of education and the misuse of education is a global issue in
itself. Due to this lack of education or misuse of education, there are even more global issues as a
result. According to Proverbs 18:21, "the tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love
it will eat its fruit." Anyone can pick an issue in the world, but in order to make a real change that
matters, the real trick is to be educated on an issue, become passionate about it, and turn that passion
into a lesson for all. As a global issue, the misuse of education can cause prejudices, discriminations,
and oppressions which also cause a lack of compassion for each other. Prejudices, discriminations,
and oppressions are global issues that establish fear into people who are the oppressed and the
oppressors. People are oppressed because they are different from us. People are oppressed based on
race, sex, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, etc. We set our own beliefs and our own values in
this society, and when people have values and beliefs that are different than ours, we can become
defensive and cold. Too often, we push these types of people away out of our fears that they will try

How Assumptions of Consensus Undermine Decision Making
Cover Letter People are always trying to come to a consensus that they know something or someone
before they get the true in–depth details. This more often than not leads them to making false
assumptions. False assumptions are a misuse of statistics and occurs when a statistical argument
asserts a falsehood. At the end of the day these false assumptions lead us to looking stopid in the end
as we were proven wrong. What I want to know is what always proppels us to want to jump to
conclusion before we get to know someone or something. In my essay I will explain why people
jump to conclusion and what ways we can help ourselves not make these false assumptions.
Jumping to conclusion We always think we know something or someone better than we actually do.
More times than not these assumptions or educated guesses what many people call them are more
often wrong the majority of the times. We always try to go with our gut feeling on something that
propels us to jump the gun and make a false assumption which makes us look like a fool at the end
of the day. In my last two essays I proved the point how we make false assumptions that propel us to
jump to conclusion and how more times than not our conclusion that we make is false. After doing
an extensive amount of research im writing to figure out why we make these false assumptions that
propel us to jump to conclusion. The personal assumptions that undermine people's decisions
making are unconscious. In "how assumptions of

Substance Misuse In Dental Care
CHAPTER THREE: METHODOLOGYIntroductionAmid the substance abuse crisis in Alaska,
policy makers, the justice department, and public health planners are anxious to find collaborative
approaches to combat the epidemic (Alaska State Troopers, 2015; Hull–Jilly & Castro, 2013;
McDowell Group, 2017). The Surgeon General urges all healthcare professionals to aide in the
prevention of substance misuse (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services [HHS], 2016).

Physical Misuse Of A Kid
I chose this topic because my Granddaughter experienced sexual abuse from her mother's boyfriend
and my Grandson experienced physical abuse from his mother. Their current ages are under 4 years
of age. As a parent and grandmother, it tore my heart apart and I wanted to certainly cause harm to
somebody. As a result, I have custody of my grandson and my granddaughter lives with her other
grandmother.
All through the United States each year, a large number of instances of child negligence are
accounted for. It's a frightful epidemic and as people, we should be more devoted in putting an end
to this tragedy. If we could increase alertness about the issue itself, it would save or help a great deal
of children (Fedderson, 1959). There are various sorts of child abuse, for example, physical, sexual,
enthusiastic, and disregard (Pediatrics, 2015). Physical misuse of a kid is the point by which a
watchman or parental figure brings any non–accidental physical mischief. Sexual misuse happens
when adults use a youthful kid for sexual purposes or incorporates a youngster in sexual acts. It
furthermore joins when a tyke who is more settled or all the more competent uses another youngster
for sexual satisfaction or vitality. Mental misuse is the point by which a gatekeeper or parental
figure harms a youth 's mental and social change, or cause compelling energetic harm. Furthermore,
mental abuse is a case of behavior that causes noteworthy damage after some time. Child disregard

The Misuse of Diversity in Education
Jonathan Kozol, a Harvard University scholar, witnessed the travesty of racial segregation within the
inner city public educational system. After many years of teaching and exposure to substandard
classrooms with dilapidated furniture, a shortage of materials to engage a pupil's mind and a
disproportionate diversity ratio, he could no longer tolerate the conditions in which he was
surrounded. Kozol's frustration compelled him to become a staunch advocate for disadvantaged
children so that they might receive equal rights to a quality education. It was during his time as an
educator that Kozol obtained direct knowledge of the educational system's misrepresentation of the
true definition of the word diversity. This prompted the writer to investigate the statistics.
Furthermore, he visited several schools and compiled data based on his own research. Kozol
discovered that the records did not accurately reflect the claims made and reported, "In New York
and California, seven out of every eight black students presently attend a segregated school". This
inaccuracy was not only limited to racial imbalance but in the coursework being taught under the
misnomer of diversity. He references that while the inspirational lessons of such pioneers as Ruby
Bridges, the first black student integrated into an all–white elementary school in 1960, Linda Brown
who was appointed to the NAACP to integrate schools and civil rights activist, Dr. Martin Luther
King Jr. were being taught in

Youth who abuse prescription medications are also more likely to report use of other drugs. Multiple
studies have revealed associations between prescription drug abuse and higher rates of cigarette
smoking; heavy episodic drinking; and marijuana, cocaine, and other illicit drug use among
adolescents, young adults, and college students. Interestingly, for this study 36,781 between the ages
of 18–22. Nonmedical use among children and adolescents is particularly troublesome given that
adolescence is the period of greatest risk not only for drug experimentation but also for developing
addiction. The study survey was conducted by Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration

It is imperative to be aware of the consequences associated with abuse of these medications. For
although prescription drugs can be powerful allies, they also pose serious health risks related to their
abuse, which can lead to addiction and to death. These years are often when young people initiate or

The Misuse Of Standard English In The Workplace
How often do we as employees consider our use or misuse of grammar, spelling and punctuation in
the workplace? Proper usage of grammar, spelling, and punctuation results in the use of Standard
English. Standard English is known as the correct form of the English language. Is our misuse of
Standard English in our workplace reflecting negatively upon us? Brad Hoover, the CEO of
Grammarly, says, "Companies looking to hire top talent should consider grammar as one predictor
of a candidate's aptitude and success." (Hoover). Many people may find the use of non–standard
grammar trivial however, this is not the case in a professional atmosphere. Non–Standard English in
the workplace provides no benefit to either the employee or employer and has only negative
consequences. The use of non–standard English in the workplace will negatively affect our
communication, image, chance for promotions and even our pay in the workplace.
The use of non–standard English leads to poor communication in the workplace. Standard English is
a base for the English language. When individuals stray from that base this leads to confusion.
Slang, for example, is often limited to a certain culture. Many workplaces consist of individuals
from diverse backgrounds. Therefore, communicating using slang or non–proper English leaves
many people unclear on the message you were attempting to convey. Slang is not the only form of
non–standard English that leads to poor communication. Consider improper capitalization,

It is significant for alcohol policy because of the impact of 'Dual Diagnosis' (combined mental
health and substance misuse problems) and the mutually supportive outcomes that improving mental
health and reducing alcohol harms share.
What is the role of the nurse in promoting health? Nurses and other healthcare professionals play an
important role in the policies and strategies of alcohol misuse and are crucial to its success. Nurses
are instrumental in establishing health–promotion programmes, with the goal of enabling individuals
and families to choose healthier lifestyles.
According to Ewles and Simnett (2003) there are five approaches to health promotion. These are
Medical, Behaviour Change, Educational, Empowerment and Social Change.
One of the public health policies that the writer will focus on is the ban on restriction on places and
times of alcohol sale. In the Alcohol Licensing Act 2003 (came into effect in 2005) for example,
there is a ban on the sale of alcohol between 11pm and 5am.(www.legislation.gov.uk) In order to
examine the role of the nurse, the Beattie(1991) model of health promotion framework will be
chosen.(Naidoo & Wills(2002)).
On health persuasion, nurses have a role in interventions directed at individuals. Example is a nurse
encouraging or persuading a patient to stop misusing alcohol and lead a healthier lifestyle. This
activity includes advice and information. However, according to the NHS survey 2010 (Alcohol

Ideology Of Substance Misuse
This paper is designed to implement the ideology of substance misuse and addiction and how they
are formed, specifically relying on integral matters from the external world, as well as the
consciousness of one's own mental health. In doing so, we unveil the framework of how substance
dependency and addiction impact the daily lives of the individuals affected by this and the path that
is initiated as a result. Therefore, when analyzing the structure of substance misuse, it is essential to
seek the importance behind what facilitates the continuation of addiction, including alcoholism.

Substance Misuse In Families
Substance misuse in families tends to remain undetected, yet guesstimates predict that
approximately 2–300,000 children under 16 within England and Wales have parents who misuse
legal or illicit drugs, including prescription medication, alcohol or heroin (ACMD, 2003). Although
each case is unique, involvement with substances raises concerns when at medical, legal and
socially unaccepted levels because of the possibility of an adverse effect upon a parent's capacity to
respond to their children's needs (). In addition, parental substance usage during any stage of a
child's growth often negatively impacts development, for instance women consuming alcohol during
pregnancy can have babies born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome which results in them having
additional behavioural and learning needs (CDC, 2015). In turn, substance misuse exemplifies the
risk of harm from abuse or neglect, as well as poorer short and long–term outcomes. For example,
children denied a stable and loving environment because a parent using substances is physically and
emotionally unavailable, are more likely to develop spiralling ... Show more content on

In actual fact, drug related offenses account for a relatively small proportion of crime (Hough,

underlying issues, such as poverty (Shaw et al, 2007). In spite of this analogy, interventions in the
battle to break the cycle of substance misuse have evolved from unsuccessful punitive measures

Methadone Misuse
Methadone misuse leads to flash visual evoked potentials in newborns. In the article by McGlone,
Hamilton, McCulloch, Boulton, Bradnam, Weaver, & Mactier (2013), they conduct a study about
mothers who abuse drugs and are prescribe methadone and end up misusing the methadone. The
infants of the women end up being born with abnormal flash VEPs. The researchers concluded that
the abnormality is due in part to the prescribed methadone and not the other drugs that these women
were abusing. A control group was implemented to compare the flash VEP with healthy, drug free
infants. It is also concluded that methadone binds to ocular as well as to brain tissues, which
explains why it has an adverse effect on the infants visual and neurologic development. ... Show

This process consists of 6 components: assessment, diagnosis, planning outcomes, planning
interventions, implementation, and evaluation. Assessment was conducted in the study by the
researchers finding eligible mothers who were misusing prescribed substitute methadone during
pregnancy (McGlone et al., 2013) and those who did not abuse any drugs. Once they finished with
the assessment, diagnosis was applied to find out the other drugs the mothers were abusing with
blood test and analyzing the infant meconium, and to make sure that their control group had healthy,
drug free infants. They also implemented an exclusion criteria for the diagnosis which includes birth
before 36 completed weeks' gestation, congenital ocular abnormality, significant neonatal illness,
and infants <36 weeks' gestation. Planning outcomes includes the researcher's hypothesis that there
would be an adverse effect on the neonatal flash VEPs and there would be some sort of relationship
between visual electrophysiology and subsequent neonatal abstinence syndrome (McGlone et al.,
2013). Next step is planning intervention and this was done by assessing the drugs that each mother
abused during their pregnancy in order to see if these drugs had an effect on the flash VEP instead of
solely methadone. Implementation was not used in this research due to the fact that researchers were
trying to see the relationship between prescribe methadone and flash VEP. Last step in the nursing
process is evaluation which is the results that the researcher acquired from the study. Now this
research was not conducted by nurses but the nursing process can be applied to it to show how this
process is indirectly applied across the

The misuse of welfare is slowly increasing and it's very harmful to our economy and society. It
effects not only the working people who fund government assistance, but the user (or mis–user) as
well. There is a general feeling that welfare misuse has skyrocketing rates, but according to
advocates for welfare programs, the fraud rate is only about 2–3%. According to the 2010 US
Census Bureau findings, there are 114.8 Million families in the US. With just over 34% of those US
families "on welfare", this means that approximately 39 Million homes receive monthly welfare
benefits. 39 Million. Wow. The Federal government expects to spend about $430 Billion in 2013 on
welfare expenditures. This averages out to roughly $11,025 annually per family or $945 per family
per month. So if the fraud rate is only a tiny 2–3%, how much money could it really be costing us?
Well...these seemingly low rates would mean that roughly 785,000 to 1.2 Million families are
illegally receiving welfare benefits. At the average rate of $11,025 per year, this is costing the tax
payers between $9.0 – $13.5 Billion dollars every year. Yikes. Welfare fraudulence can have a very
negative effect on its recipients as well. Although the assistance may be very much needed and may
help a lot, many people on welfare are beginning to see welfare as its own social class, a lifestyle. It
can potentially eliminate work ethic and motivation. Fraudulent

The Issues Of Antibiotics Misuse
In NURN 422, I researched and discussed the serious implications of antibiotics misuse, and
explored ways to educate patients (and parents in pediatrics) about their proper use in order to
counteract the long–term problem it is creating.
In recent years, overuse of antibiotics have been in the spotlight due to the fact that bacterial
infections are becoming resistant (Centers for Disease Control & Prevention [CDC], 2014). The
healthcare industry's inappropriate prescribing habits have been a significant part of the problem.
This includes prescribing antibiotics as a 'just–in–case' basis, prescription based on symptom–
criteria, patients demanding for a fast relief of symptoms, and unsuitable use of broad–spectrum
antibiotics without determining if there is an actual clinical need for it (CDC, 2011). Having
knowledge of what is being treated, educating providers, patients and parents of pediatric patients on
the use of these medications will have a major impact on lowering abuse and/or overuse of
antibiotics. Nurses can and should be at the forefront of this issue and take a lead in the education of

The user's distraction with the substance, in addition to its impacts on inclination and execution, can

that substance misuse has unmistakable impacts on distinctive family structures. For instance, the
guardian of little kids may endeavour to adjust for inadequacies that his or her substance‐abusing
mate has created as an outcome of that substance misuse (Brown and Lewis 199).
Anderson (1992), takes note of that numerous individuals who misuse substances have a place with
stepfamilies. Indeed, even under conventional circumstances, stepfamilies present extraordinary

Overuse And Misuse Of Drugs
The Overuse and Misuse of alcohol and or recreational drugs is a major problem throughout the
youth of the world, and they change people, they change the way people think, they change the way
people act, and through an improved awareness and economic funds to raise awareness, and help
provided for those affected by drugs and alcohol. I will be exploring how drugs and alcohol affect
men's life due to the social, economic, and cultural factors. Many factors contribute to the misuse of
Alcohol and other drugs in male health, these include social, cultural, and economic. "Drug Abuse
costs the healthcare system about 11 billion with overall costs reaching as high as 193 billion"
(Rehabs.com 2017). "Approximately 1 in 20 male adults, a quarter of a billion of people between
the ages of 15 and 64 years, used at least one recreational drug in 2014" (UNODC 2016). "12
million people inject recreational drug, 1.6 million people who inject recreational drugs are living
with HIV, and 6 million are living with Hepatitis C" (UNODC 2016). These scary facts can be
hugely reduced by as little as a supportive family or a supportive friend.
The Social factors that have contributed to the overuse and misuse of alcohol and or recreational
drugs include peer pressure, bad parenting, and poor education. The desire to fit in or to impress
others is a huge factor as to why young men are misusing and overusing recreational drugs, some
social groups support drug and alcohol use, and encourage its

Cellphones, instant messaging, Facebook, and Snapchat area technologies that stem from one desire:
quick communication. Skype allows United State government officials to host crucial meetings with
the troops overseas. For the businessman, instant messaging helps him close business deals as soon
as possible (Ray). And emergencies are reported faster than ever thanks to mobile phone
technologies. Using technology in this way is proper. Unfortunately, there is a darkness to every
good invention. Technology today is misused as users initiate private conversations in the public
social sphere, leading to a lack of public social respect. In addition, the misuse of modern
technology cultivates a harmful dependency upon it as well as fostering learning disabilities. Asking
senior citizens how mobile tech should be used in public, they may respond that it is used for safety
and security purposes (Aoki & Downes). Senior citizens are also found to use cellphones for simple
reasons, such as calling home to ask what needs to be added to the shopping list (Zickuhr and

Love And Its Misuse And Misinterpretation
"The most misinterpreted and misused word is the word, love. It is apparent that the theory and
practices of some individuals and groups in our society today who use words, phrases and slogans of
love do not convey its real meaning and are used out of context" (Love and its Misuse and
Misinterpretation. (n.d.). Retrieved October 6, 2015). We love food, dogs, learning; but what is love
according to relationships and what does love look like. Even though the undefinable emotion is
commonly used throughout American culture as a simple expression it has more meaning. Everyone
wants love, but no one is sure on what that looks like. A researcher named John Alan Lee developed
six different love styles that people tend to fall into. In this paper I will discuss the six different love
styles in relation to my "Love Style" Inventory, and "Are You a Good Listener" survey. When trying
to understand love, one must know how to communicate. When communicating, listening is
probably the most important element for any relationships rather intimate or professional. Many
people, including myself, strongly feel as though they are great listeners and do not need any
improvement in this particular skill. However, according to "Are You a Good Listener" survey, my
listening skills were not up to par. Scoring a 97 out of 125, showed me that I'm a good listener but
not quite perfect. An exceptional listener is someone who is gifted, selfless, and overall enjoys
conversing with others. My

Alcoholism : The Misuse And Addiction
Alcoholism: The Misuse and Addiction
"I know my limit", "Just one more drink", and "I'm not drunk" are common phrases people often
associate with being an alcoholic. While is true that some alcoholics can use such phrases, that is not
what makes them an alcoholic. Alcoholics or rather anyone who happens to drink a little too much,
are marked as being alcoholics. But what does it really mean to be an alcoholic? Or better yet, what
does it mean to suffer from Alcoholism?
Over the years, a controversial issue has been whether or not alcoholics should be blamed for their
misuse of alcohol, or it the addictive factors within alcohol itself that leads to this type of behavior.
On the one hand, some believe that Alcoholism is a chronic ... Show more content on

This dependence occurs because, according to clinical nutritionist Dr. Charles S. Lieber of the
Section of Liver Diseases and Nutrition from the Alcohol Research and Treatment Center, ethanol
affects the most essential functions of the body, and takes up an alcoholic's calorie intake, which
creates this dependent like state for survival within an alcoholic (60). Ethanol plays a key role as to
why Alcoholism is a disease. A disease is a condition in which the body's normal functions are
impaired [weakened]. Understanding how ethanol affects the body is essential because these affects
are what causes the urge to drink as the dependence on alcohol itself.
While there is evidence to suggest that Alcoholism is an addicting disease that alcoholics should not
be blamed for, many will probably disagree with this assertion. For example, as Nick Heather who is
a Professor of Alcohol and Other Drug Studies of the Department of Psychology points out,
Alcoholism is a behavioral disorder (or any form of behavior that is considered abnormal or
inappropriate), rather than a disease (323–324). Heather also believes that calling Alcoholism a
disease no longer works (323–324). Heather uses his own personal experience with his addiction to
nicotine as a way to suggest that Alcoholism is not a disease. He discusses how he was able to
overcome his addiction, and believes that smoking and drinking are equally addicting. He concluded
that since smoking is not considered a disease and it

Misuse Of Technology
We live in a time period in society, where were constantly communicate through technology. It has
become a part of our daily lives for not only millions of adults but also for our children. In 2001, it
was estimated that 17 million youth between the ages of 12 and 17 used the Internet (Lenhart,
Rainie, & Lewis, 2001). This is important information when recognizing how much we use
technology for educational purposes, social networking and online communication which are
important for a student's relationship with their friends, family, and school (Lenhart et al., 2001). We
use technology so much, we do not know how to function without it. Even in the classroom,
technology has been integrated to enhance the student's educational experience. Although, there has
been a positive impact in technology for our students there has also been a negative impact as well.
Which is the misuse of technology, students can say and do things to others without revealing their
identity. Although, there are harmless situations that occur, this has opened the door for students to
interact with others aggressively without any repercussions. This issue which many of our students
face at some point or another is called Cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is being cruel to others by
sending or posting harmful material or engaging in other forms of social aggression using the
Internet or other digital technologies. (Willard, 2004) The problem school leadership faces regarding

This is the point at which the kid is acknowledged paying little mind to who and how they are. For

terms of a youngster or a youngster uncovering data on their misuse it is totally troublesome for
them. This is on the grounds that they may expect that no one would trust them or that they may

For Paul's situation, he didn't uncover any data. His educator suspected that he might be getting ill

The Misuse of Antibiotics and Bacterial Resistance
The Misuse of Antibiotics and Bacterial Resistance
Samantha Onda
Penn State Worthington Scranton
Abstract
The growing issue of bacterial resistance to antibiotics is growing more rapidly than anticipated.
Numerous factors contribute to this growing issue and it creates a major concern for society today.
The main factor in this growing issue is the continuous misuse and overuse of antibiotics. For
example, people use them by prescribing antibiotics to themselves, even if they have acquired a
viral infection. Furthermore, livestock is pumped full of antibiotics to promote growth and prevent
infections. Moreover, bacteria have become smarter and evolved so that they are able to transmit the
resistance to other bacteria. This is an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
"Each antibiotic operates at a specific site within the bacterial cell", as stated by Khachatourians,
"thus, when resistant organisms arise, their resistance is specific to particular antibiotics". Bacteria
have evolved so that they can transfer different strains of resistance to their own species and
different species (Khachatourians, 1998). The organisms have genetic traits in the chromosomes and
extrachromosomal elements for resistance to occur (Khachatourians, 1998). Resistance can occur
from a mutation on the chromosomal genes, leading to antibiotic sensitivity. Khachatourians states
that, "such mutations occur at a rate of one per million to one per billion cells". He also explains
that, "the extrachromosomal elements (plasmids and transposons) are smaller pieces of circular
DNA, each equivalent in size to about 1% of a chromosome" (Khachatourians, 1998). When the
bacterial organism acquires the resistance against the antibiotic administered and send it to other
species of bacteria this is known as genetic exchange (Khachatourians, 1998).
"As far as mechanisms of resistance are concerned, some bacterial species are normally and
inherently insensitive to certain antibiotics, whereas others are sensitive" (Khachatourians, 1998).
There are three requirements in order for a bacterium to be considered sensitive. A target for reaction
has to occur. Secondly, before the antibiotic is administered,

Misuse A Comma
The English language is a series of involute systems that must follow a plethora of rules and
guidelines. A simple way to ascertain each sentence is grammatically correct before having to revise,
edit, and proofread a piece of writing, is to understand the rules of the comma. There are many ways
a writer can misuse a comma. This can result in comma splices if the comma is utilized incorrectly,
consequently making the sentence not flow felicitously if it is not utilized at all.
One mistake to elude before having to revise a piece of writing is by not utilizing a comma between
two independent clauses. Moreover, this will cause the sentence to be a run on. An example of a
run–on sentence of two independent clauses would be "Living in the dorms can be costly or it can
be cheap, freshmen have the option to share a room ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The revised sentence, "Even though the chemo therapy helps in the long run to cure the cancer, the
side effects of the therapy cause harm, and the medical marijuana is used to combat these
symptoms." Integrating a comma before "and" sanctions for the reader to facilely determine where
the conceptions commence and culminate.
Therefore, by simply learning to rules of the comma, one should be able to avoid the error of
forgetting or misusing a comma. This allows for the writer to do less revising, editing, and
proofreading on their final draft, to ascertain that they are verbalizing as an intellectual with proper

Chi-Square Measurement and Misuses
Chi–Square & Misuses The chi–square statistical measurement is an inferential statistic to determine
differences among groups. It compares frequency observed with frequency expected. It does not
determine where the differences are, just that they do exist. The chi–square measurement is used a
lot in business to compare projected budgeted items with actual expense and revenue items to
determine any significant differences that could indicate problems or areas for new innovations of
products. The chi–square measurement is used to determine how the variables of expenses and
revenues relate with each other to ensure that revenues and expenses are in alignment with business
projections. It can be used to test markets and what type of products are better sold in geographical
areas to determine appropriate business strategies. The chi–square can also be used to determine
how changes in product mix may impact revenues and sales. Consumer purchase decisions is
another area the chi–square measurement is used to determine what consumers need and want or
what influences their purchase decisions to develop new products and appropriate marketing
techniques. Even though the chi–square is considered a weak measurement, it is used as a baseline
in making business decisions and determining problems that need to be addressed. It acts as an
indicator where further investigation and analysis can be made to determine the issues. Once issues
are identified, other investigations and analysis

Misuse Of Power In Hamlet
"The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles" (Marx 15). The
Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx displays different ideas between the clashing social stances
during his time. These thoughts highlight the several issues with the overbearing upper class
showcasing the difference between social status and their given power in society. Similarly, the
Marxist lens displays how the nobles gaining control of the social, economical, and political aspects
of a society affect the lower class. William Shakespeare's Hamlet emphasizes division of social
classes and unquenchable desire to obtain power through self– benefiting manipulation and misuse
of authority. The misuse of power in Hamlet exemplifies the corruption in the upper class due to
their suppressive nature towards the plorient class. The upper class or bourgeoisie such as the
monarchy in Hamlet believe their stance in the social ladder subjects them to all the power. In
various cases throughout history the bourgeoisie ruled at the same level as God. For instance,
Claudius showcases the abuse of power the bourgeoisie exudes onto the proletariats when he
confesses to murdering his brother to obtain "[his] crown... and [his] queen", which also displays his
lack of morals for gaining access power (III.iii.58). He killed his own brother in order to achieve
political, social, and economic power, which further presents his corrupt desire for authority. Also,
the event reflects the Marxist lens because of the proposal that economic gain is the motive for all
political and social acts. This desire for total control results in a corrupt upper class and government
because their only concern is themselves. During Shakespeare's time writing Hamlet Claudius's
turpitude acts can be correlated to his era when "the corruptions of a declining feudalism were
beginning" (Fribleman 142). Shakespeare's experience with a corrupt higher class whose only regard
is acquiring power lives through the unethical character of Claudius. By having the upper class
reach a substantial amount of power they gain even more political influence over the proletarians
because of their dominance in economic and social systems. Throughout Hamlet, the separation of
power

Blood Red Road Heroism
People can be considered heroes or non–heroes based on the characteristics they possess. In the
book, Dust Lands: Blood Red Road by Moira Young, Saba can be displayed as a hero because of
characteristics she displays such as courage and self–sacrificing, whereas the King has non–heroic
characteristics of misusing power and controlling others and Miz Pinch also has non–hero
characteristics of acting as a bully and putting herself before others.
In the story, Saba is a hero as shown through her courage. Saba first shows courage when she goes
back into the burning cellblock to rescue Jack from dying inside the ice box (213). Saba
demonstrates heroism by being courageous and returning for Jack, even after she escaped. Another
way Saba is portrayed as a hero is when she continues to find a ... Show more content on

Miz Pinch begins acting as a bully when she tells Saba that if she tries to escape or if she does not
obey the rules she will cause Miz Pinch to abuse Emmi (122). Miz Pinch bullies Saba into behaving
so that she would not have to hurt Emmi, which is not a heroic action. Similarly, Miz Pinch kicked,
slapped, hit and talked down to her husband, Mister Pinch when he did not listen to her (124). A
hero does not bully someone, especially someone by physically hurting them, thus Miz Pinch is a
bully and a non–hero. In a like manner, Miz Pinch's characteristic quality of putting herself before
others shows that she is not a hero. Miz Pinch begins making Saba fight in the cage for her own
economic benefit (121). A hero would not have put someone else in danger in return for goods and
money but Miz Pinch did. In addition, Miz Pinch stole Saba's heartstone necklace (127). Miz Pinch
put herself before Saba and took the necklace because she liked it, she did not stop to think about
Saba and how she would feel, which is something a hero would

Martin Luther Misuse Of Power
Throughout history there have been countless documented cases of people with no power being
dominated by those with power. Like wolves preying on a helpless pack of wolves, it inevitably
occurs throughout history. This theme shows up Martin Luther's works and he clearly expresses his
outrage with the church's, especially the Pope, misuse of power and influence. Luther is a highly
admired theologian and a very important figure in history and his issue with the church and their
misuse of power is not the only case of it showing up throughout history and there are many to take
a look at.
The Catholic church used fear and threats to leverage power over people in earlier periods of
history. The church had lots of power and could threaten excommunication if something happened
that they did not like. Consequently, an eternity in purgatory was threatened to all who did not buy
indulgences. Simon Newman, a respected writer and historian summed up the church's power in his
works. He wrote, "Religion in the Middle Ages was dominated by Christianity. It is the era in which
the great cathedrals of Europe were built and the Catholic Church started its universities in Paris,
Tubingen, Cambridge and Oxford. During the Middle Ages, the Catholic Church was the only
church in Europe. The laws of the land and leading roles in the government were all in the hands of
the leading church leaders like bishops and archbishops.
It was an era when the vested powers in the hands of the Pope were so

The Misuse Of Drugs Act

  • 1. The Misuse Of Drugs Act Laws are created by parliament which is made up by the MP'S society votes for during the election process. The Misuse of Drugs Act (1971) was introduced to prevent the misuse of controlled drugs such as cannabis, amphetamine and other drugs stated in the Act. The Act attempts to prevent the misuse of drugs by making it a criminal offence to be in possession or supply, manufacture, import and export drugs (Drugscope, 2015). The Act also gives the Home secretary authority to ban new drugs and increase the penalties associated with them. Sometimes the government will set out a proposal for a new law in a document known as a green paper which then faces scrutiny and discussion this could be by experts in the area that the proposed Law intends to change/ affect or a select committee within parliament. The proposal can then be changed and made into a white paper. This then forms the Bill which gets introduced into Parliament (Making laws: How a law is made part 2 of 2, 2009). There are 2 different types of Bills a private and a public Bill. The Misuse of Drugs Act (1971) was a public Bill as it affects the public. These also have 2 categories, government Bills and Private member bills. The Misuse of Drugs Act (1971) was a government Bill. A bill goes through a consultation stage where the opinion of others is noted on what the proposed Law should say. This usually takes place before the Bill is introduced to Parliament. A Bill can either go through the House of Commons or Lords ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Compare And Contrast Montana 1948 And Twelve Angry Men Both Montana 1948 and Twelve Angry Men exemplify that justice provides rules and powers and the complex consequences of misusing this in the society. Although they do so in diverse ways. Twelve Angry Men, written by Reginald Rose, demonstrated the misuse of power, when most of the jurors failed to use the different principles of the justice system. In the beginning of the play, eleven out of twelve jurors voted "guilty" towards a crime that had no sufficient evidence. However, after much debate, and the heroic effort of the 8th Juror who gave a "not guilty" verdict, prevented the punishment being wrongfully applied. Similar ideas were explored in Montana 1948, a novel written by Larry Watson. The misuse of power is evidently portrayed by the Hayden's Family, as they used their good reputations to manipulate the town of Montana and operate above the law. They took advantage of the people who had no influence within the society which resulted in the distortion of facts and the corruption of justice. Whereas each text exhibited that many, but not all characters had shown broad prejudice and tendentiousness against the people who had little power that leads into sophisticated effects such that miserableness, suffering, family breakdown and especially ruining the justice system. In the play Twelve Angry Men, the people who had little power in the society was delineated by a young European boy, who was accused of killing his own father. The misconception about the case makes it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Alcohol Misuse Of Alcoholic Misuse Alcohol use can be a main supplier of many intricate psychological experiences within the human practice, it is somewhat of an enhancer and for that reason it can sometimes be abused or over used. For this critical essay the argument put forth will be enhanced by the ideals of Type I and Type II alcoholic misuse quantified by Higley & Bennet (1999). Type I entails the alcohol misuse being the main instigator of anxiety and situational stress, whereas Type II complies with users experiencing impulse control issues promoted by biological tendencies. These two types of alcohol exploitation are the main reasons the continual misuse of alcoholic substances occurs. This critical essay intends to describe these types of alcohol mismanagement and argue how consumers of alcohol use it as a deterrent to circumvent these psychological variables and discuss how combined psychological and biological variables are the impetus for alcoholism. Furthermore discovering the dependent and independent variables of alcohol use and how they affect one another. Body The World Health Organization (WHO) reported the comparative risk analysis (CRA) project, which detailed many environmental and singular dynamics, including genetics that contribute to Substance Abuse and Addiction. • 7. The Misuse Of Education Nelson Mandela once said "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Depending on how you use education, to help to world or to manipulate the world, it is a powerful weapon to be used. The global community has several issues and problems that need addressed and fixed, however, the lack of education and the misuse of education is a global issue in itself. Due to this lack of education or misuse of education, there are even more global issues as a result. According to Proverbs 18:21, "the tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit." Anyone can pick an issue in the world, but in order to make a real change that matters, the real trick is to be educated on an issue, become passionate about it, and turn that passion into a lesson for all. As a global issue, the misuse of education can cause prejudices, discriminations, and oppressions which also cause a lack of compassion for each other. Prejudices, discriminations, and oppressions are global issues that establish fear into people who are the oppressed and the oppressors. People are oppressed because they are different from us. People are oppressed based on race, sex, religion, sexual orientation, nationality, etc. We set our own beliefs and our own values in this society, and when people have values and beliefs that are different than ours, we can become defensive and cold. Too often, we push these types of people away out of our fears that they will try ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. How Assumptions of Consensus Undermine Decision Making Cover Letter People are always trying to come to a consensus that they know something or someone before they get the true in–depth details. This more often than not leads them to making false assumptions. False assumptions are a misuse of statistics and occurs when a statistical argument asserts a falsehood. At the end of the day these false assumptions lead us to looking stopid in the end as we were proven wrong. What I want to know is what always proppels us to want to jump to conclusion before we get to know someone or something. In my essay I will explain why people jump to conclusion and what ways we can help ourselves not make these false assumptions. Jumping to conclusion We always think we know something or someone better than we actually do. More times than not these assumptions or educated guesses what many people call them are more often wrong the majority of the times. We always try to go with our gut feeling on something that propels us to jump the gun and make a false assumption which makes us look like a fool at the end of the day. In my last two essays I proved the point how we make false assumptions that propel us to jump to conclusion and how more times than not our conclusion that we make is false. After doing an extensive amount of research im writing to figure out why we make these false assumptions that propel us to jump to conclusion. The personal assumptions that undermine people's decisions making are unconscious. In "how assumptions of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Physical Misuse Of A Kid I chose this topic because my Granddaughter experienced sexual abuse from her mother's boyfriend and my Grandson experienced physical abuse from his mother. Their current ages are under 4 years of age. As a parent and grandmother, it tore my heart apart and I wanted to certainly cause harm to somebody. As a result, I have custody of my grandson and my granddaughter lives with her other grandmother. All through the United States each year, a large number of instances of child negligence are accounted for. It's a frightful epidemic and as people, we should be more devoted in putting an end to this tragedy. • 15. The Misuse of Diversity in Education Jonathan Kozol, a Harvard University scholar, witnessed the travesty of racial segregation within the inner city public educational system. After many years of teaching and exposure to substandard classrooms with dilapidated furniture, a shortage of materials to engage a pupil's mind and a disproportionate diversity ratio, he could no longer tolerate the conditions in which he was surrounded. Kozol's frustration compelled him to become a staunch advocate for disadvantaged children so that they might receive equal rights to a quality education. It was during his time as an educator that Kozol obtained direct knowledge of the educational system's misrepresentation of the true definition of the word diversity. This prompted the writer to investigate the statistics. Furthermore, he visited several schools and compiled data based on his own research. Kozol discovered that the records did not accurately reflect the claims made and reported, "In New York and California, seven out of every eight black students presently attend a segregated school". This inaccuracy was not only limited to racial imbalance but in the coursework being taught under the misnomer of diversity. He references that while the inspirational lessons of such pioneers as Ruby Bridges, the first black student integrated into an all–white elementary school in 1960, Linda Brown who was appointed to the NAACP to integrate schools and civil rights activist, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. were being taught in ... Proper usage of grammar, spelling, and punctuation results in the use of Standard English. Standard English is known as the correct form of the English language. Is our misuse of Standard English in our workplace reflecting negatively upon us? Brad Hoover, the CEO of Grammarly, says, "Companies looking to hire top talent should consider grammar as one predictor of a candidate's aptitude and success." (Hoover). Nurses are instrumental in establishing health–promotion programmes, with the goal of enabling individuals and families to choose healthier lifestyles. According to Ewles and Simnett (2003) there are five approaches to health promotion. These are Medical, Behaviour Change, Educational, Empowerment and Social Change. One of the public health policies that the writer will focus on is the ban on restriction on places and times of alcohol sale. In the Alcohol Licensing Act 2003 (came into effect in 2005) for example, there is a ban on the sale of alcohol between 11pm and 5am.(www.legislation.gov.uk) In order to examine the role of the nurse, the Beattie(1991) model of health promotion framework will be chosen.(Naidoo & Wills(2002)). Substance Misuse In Families Substance misuse in families tends to remain undetected, yet guesstimates predict that approximately 2–300,000 children under 16 within England and Wales have parents who misuse legal or illicit drugs, including prescription medication, alcohol or heroin (ACMD, 2003). Although each case is unique, involvement with substances raises concerns when at medical, legal and socially unaccepted levels because of the possibility of an adverse effect upon a parent's capacity to respond to their children's needs (). In addition, parental substance usage during any stage of a child's growth often negatively impacts development, for instance women consuming alcohol during pregnancy can have babies born with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome which results in them having additional behavioural and learning needs (CDC, 2015). • 33. Methadone Misuse Methadone misuse leads to flash visual evoked potentials in newborns. In the article by McGlone, Hamilton, McCulloch, Boulton, Bradnam, Weaver, & Mactier (2013), they conduct a study about mothers who abuse drugs and are prescribe methadone and end up misusing the methadone. The infants of the women end up being born with abnormal flash VEPs. The researchers concluded that the abnormality is due in part to the prescribed methadone and not the other drugs that these women were abusing. A control group was implemented to compare the flash VEP with healthy, drug free infants. It is also concluded that methadone binds to ocular as well as to brain tissues, which explains why it has an adverse effect on the infants visual and neurologic development. ... Assessment was conducted in the study by the researchers finding eligible mothers who were misusing prescribed substitute methadone during pregnancy (McGlone et al., 2013) and those who did not abuse any drugs. Once they finished with the assessment, diagnosis was applied to find out the other drugs the mothers were abusing with blood test and analyzing the infant meconium, and to make sure that their control group had healthy, drug free infants. They also implemented an exclusion criteria for the diagnosis which includes birth before 36 completed weeks' gestation, congenital ocular abnormality, significant neonatal illness, and infants <36 weeks' gestation. Planning outcomes includes the researcher's hypothesis that there would be an adverse effect on the neonatal flash VEPs and there would be some sort of relationship between visual electrophysiology and subsequent neonatal abstinence syndrome (McGlone et al., 2013). Next step is planning intervention and this was done by assessing the drugs that each mother abused during their pregnancy in order to see if these drugs had an effect on the flash VEP instead of solely methadone. Implementation was not used in this research due to the fact that researchers were trying to see the relationship between prescribe methadone and flash VEP. Last step in the nursing process is evaluation which is the results that the researcher acquired from the study. The Misuse of Welfare in America Laureen Horan Eng 111 Misuse and Abuse: A Look at the Flaws of the American Welfare System "The lessons of history, confirmed by evidence immediately before me, show conclusively that continued dependence on relief induces a spiritual and moral disintegration fundamentally destructive to the national fiber. To dole out relief in this way is to administer a narcotic, a subtle destroyer of the human spirit. It is inimical to the dictates of sound policy. It is a violation of the traditions of America." –Franklin Delano Roosevelt, 1935 State of the Union address. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The misuse of welfare is slowly increasing and it's very harmful to our economy and society. It effects not only the working people who fund government assistance, but the user (or mis–user) as well. There is a general feeling that welfare misuse has skyrocketing rates, but according to advocates for welfare programs, the fraud rate is only about 2–3%. According to the 2010 US Census Bureau findings, there are 114.8 Million families in the US. With just over 34% of those US families "on welfare", this means that approximately 39 Million homes receive monthly welfare benefits. 39 Million. Wow. The Federal government expects to spend about $430 Billion in 2013 on welfare expenditures. This averages out to roughly $11,025 annually per family or $945 per family per month. So if the fraud rate is only a tiny 2–3%, how much money could it really be costing us? Well...these seemingly low rates would mean that roughly 785,000 to 1.2 Million families are illegally receiving welfare benefits. At the average rate of $11,025 per year, this is costing the tax payers between $9.0 – $13.5 Billion dollars every year. Yikes. Welfare fraudulence can have a very negative effect on its recipients as well. Although the assistance may be very much needed and may help a lot, many people on welfare are beginning to see welfare as its own social class, a lifestyle. It can potentially eliminate work ethic and motivation. Fraudulent ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Issues Of Antibiotics Misuse In NURN 422, I researched and discussed the serious implications of antibiotics misuse, and explored ways to educate patients (and parents in pediatrics) about their proper use in order to counteract the long–term problem it is creating. In recent years, overuse of antibiotics have been in the spotlight due to the fact that bacterial infections are becoming resistant (Centers for Disease Control & Prevention [CDC], 2014). The healthcare industry's inappropriate prescribing habits have been a significant part of the problem. This includes prescribing antibiotics as a 'just–in–case' basis, prescription based on symptom– criteria, patients demanding for a fast relief of symptoms, and unsuitable use of broad–spectrum antibiotics without determining if there is an actual clinical need for it (CDC, 2011). Having knowledge of what is being treated, educating providers, patients and parents of pediatric patients on the use of these medications will have a major impact on lowering abuse and/or overuse of antibiotics. Nurses can and should be at the forefront of this issue and take a lead in the education of patients and parents. *Discussion of the current work process. But what does it really mean to be an alcoholic? Or better yet, what does it mean to suffer from Alcoholism? Ethanol plays a key role as to why Alcoholism is a disease. A disease is a condition in which the body's normal functions are impaired [weakened]. Understanding how ethanol affects the body is essential because these affects are what causes the urge to drink as the dependence on alcohol itself. While there is evidence to suggest that Alcoholism is an addicting disease that alcoholics should not be blamed for, many will probably disagree with this assertion. "Each antibiotic operates at a specific site within the bacterial cell", as stated by Khachatourians, "thus, when resistant organisms arise, their resistance is specific to particular antibiotics". Bacteria have evolved so that they can transfer different strains of resistance to their own species and different species (Khachatourians, 1998). The organisms have genetic traits in the chromosomes and extrachromosomal elements for resistance to occur (Khachatourians, 1998). Resistance can occur from a mutation on the chromosomal genes, leading to antibiotic sensitivity. Khachatourians states that, "such mutations occur at a rate of one per million to one per billion cells". He also explains that, "the extrachromosomal elements (plasmids and transposons) are smaller pieces of circular DNA, each equivalent in size to about 1% of a chromosome" (Khachatourians, 1998). When the bacterial organism acquires the resistance against the antibiotic administered and send it to other species of bacteria this is known as genetic exchange (Khachatourians, 1998). "As far as mechanisms of resistance are concerned, some bacterial species are normally and inherently insensitive to certain antibiotics, whereas others are sensitive" (Khachatourians, 1998). • 69. Misuse Of Power In Hamlet "The history of all hitherto existing society is the history of class struggles" (Marx 15). The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx displays different ideas between the clashing social stances during his time. These thoughts highlight the several issues with the overbearing upper class showcasing the difference between social status and their given power in society. Similarly, the Marxist lens displays how the nobles gaining control of the social, economical, and political aspects of a society affect the lower class. William Shakespeare's Hamlet emphasizes division of social classes and unquenchable desire to obtain power through self– benefiting manipulation and misuse of authority. The misuse of power in Hamlet exemplifies the corruption in the upper class due to their suppressive nature towards the plorient class. The upper class or bourgeoisie such as the monarchy in Hamlet believe their stance in the social ladder subjects them to all the power. In various cases throughout history the bourgeoisie ruled at the same level as God. For instance, Claudius showcases the abuse of power the bourgeoisie exudes onto the proletariats when he confesses to murdering his brother to obtain "[his] crown... and [his] queen", which also displays his lack of morals for gaining access power (III.iii.58). He killed his own brother in order to achieve political, social, and economic power, which further presents his corrupt desire for authority. Also, the event reflects the Marxist lens because of the proposal that economic gain is the motive for all political and social acts. This desire for total control results in a corrupt upper class and government because their only concern is themselves. During Shakespeare's time writing Hamlet Claudius's turpitude acts can be correlated to his era when "the corruptions of a declining feudalism were beginning" (Fribleman 142). Shakespeare's experience with a corrupt higher class whose only regard is acquiring power lives through the unethical character of Claudius. By having the upper class reach a substantial amount of power they gain even more political influence over the proletarians because of their dominance in economic and social systems. It is an easy task to alert the local officials and they fix the issue with a suspension or by forcing Marshall to resign. However, when Federal officials get involved in an issue there are charges that stem from the situation regardless of the intentions of the individual. The issue when then be exposed to the community and the trust that the community once had for the law enforcement officials could possibly be forever lose, due to the actions of Anderson. It's a decision that could have an everlasting impact of the organization and the community, while there's some damage that's temporary, there's some damage that's permanent that could take many years to recover from, if ...
