Technology Today Research Paper
The Technology Today The United States of America is one the most technologically advanced countries in
the world. There are many different types of gadgets and apps that have been made to make life easier. The
technology in the world today hurts the teenagers of America.
A small portion of the teenage population actually use the internet for educational or informational purposes.
A larger part uses internet for entertainment and gossip. Entertainment is not necessarily a bad thing, but
when someone is constantly on it and not paying attention to the outside world things can get chaotic. If a
teenager has a test in school and instead of studying they watch TV or play on their phone there is a chance
that person is going to fail instead of pass. Teenagers the main group of society that is always on some type
of device that uses wifi or the internet. Since teenagers will often have summer jobs, they are probably going

Teens have a bad habit of posting everything they do on social media. What teens do not know is that the
people that hire them look into their life. They will go on social media and look at what the teens posted.
Many teens have lost the opportunity to have because they post things that are not appropriate for someone
their age. Teens have even been killed by the technology we have today. Do not text and drive has been a
saying in the U.S. for a time now. There are too many teens getting injured or even killed in a vehicle while
texting. The average attention span of a person is eight seconds. Teens that drive have an even smaller
attention span. So every little thing that pops in their vision they will look at it. If they get a message then it
is a high chance that the teen will look at their phone. All it

Women as News Anchors Essay
Women As News Anchors
Women in all careers are striving to gain equality in the work force today, and female television news
anchors are definitely part of the fight. The road to television news anchoring is a rocky one, where only a
few women survive and many fail. Where progress was once thought to have been made, there aren't many
females getting ahead in the world of television news. Today, there is a very slow, if any, gain in the numbers
of women who succeed. There are many questions surrounding the subject of women in television news, and
I will attempt to answer relevant ones in this paper. How have the women that actually make it to the top and
succeed as anchorwomen, done it?
What does it take to make it? Why do those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was relevant to my paper in answering the question of why there are certain expectations of women in
television news. The textbook, Gender, Race and Class in Media had a few chapters relevant to my paper.
Larry Gross wrote a chapter titled, "Out of the
Mainstream: Sexual Minorities and Mass Media." He discussed various stereotypes in our society that lead to
stereotypes in all areas of our lives. I found some of my sources from Oasis, and also used a couple of
magazine articles that were relevant to the subject. I focused on the questions that I wanted to answer and
drew points from the material that were relevant and provided substantial evidence to answer my questions. I
found that opinions and thoughts of women who had been through the business were most helpful. There was
one big limitation I faced if I wanted to prove that women in television news were discriminated upon based
on sex and age. Women have been fired from their anchor positions, and it has seemed that the reasons were
because of looks or aging. But this is hard to prove. In August, Carol
Schrader, a woman anchor from KETV–TV in Omaha, Nebraska was asked to leave.
She said that it was because of her age, although her bosses didn't say that was the reason, stating that she
wasn't doing her job. She was replace by a young, blond woman. Also, when Marlene Sanders was asked to
leave ABC, instead of saying point–blank that she was too old, her boss told

Roman Technology Compared To Today
The U.S.A today is more like Rome and different back then, In the US every citizen has born natural rights
such as the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In the Roman Empire many were just subjects
and not citizens. most of ideas from Rome were stolen by U.S.A like land was given to older males ,the
twelve tables was similar to the bill of rights ( the first ten amendments of the constitution) . But Rome is
very unique and an awesome place to live in but I think it wasn't very safe back in the A.D. . . .most of the
technology that were in Rome was nothing compared to today's modern technology, today modern
technology is very highly fashioned which what I mean to say is that it's very more like something that

but today water can be bought and it's in your house whenever you want , what changed was that people had
ideas and came together to create what can last for a really long time and if it's very useful to people . Rome
is divided in 3 parts which was their social structure they had Patricians which were land owners, could hold
against office , and next were the Plebeians who were less wealth , crafts people , farmers , could vote and
could not hold political office and least but not least were the slaves not that kind of slaves you are thinking
of but they were people in depth they owe someone , today things are very different but it's mostly similar by
the way they are called and how they are stacked , today's social structure or class is divided into 3 parts just
like the Romans but things that each class was stand for was different like the " rich " , which was the people
the makes more than any class that's below them and they have to pay more taxes and then you had the
middle class was people that made average and could still make a lot more but not much as the rich on top
and the last Class was the poor this didn't mean they were really poor , they would just had to work more and
make the money that they can get , some today are mostly included people that are from different kind of

Technology Plays A Important Role Of Today 's Globalized...

Technology plays a very crucial role in today's globalized world. In actual, technology is that which make
our lives much easier by advancements. As we know that modern era is known as the world of globalization
in which the whole world is connected to one another by networking sites. This is the major advancement in
the technology that every single city or every nation is connected with each other by the network.
Technology is first and foremost thing which is on the top list in the graphs of economy of every country and
no matters it's developed or developing.
Moreover, there are various types of technologies available nowadays. Firstly, Nano technology is the fastest
growing technology among others. For example, couple of years ago, the size of computers are very large but
at present, it is like a notebook and has much more features than the previous ones. They are very much easy
to use and capable to use by each age group. Secondly, in the past there are different machines to do various
tasks but in today's modern scenario, a very small machine can perform distinct tasks in a very short period
of time just by a single command. For instance, photocopier machine and scanner were different machines in
the past and has a very large size but nowadays it is a very small machine and can do various tasks like
photocopying, printing, scanning as well as faxing. It is easy to carry and use.

Gender Inequality In The Media
Anderson Cooper. Don Lemon. Jake Tapper. Matt Lauer. These faces flash across our television screens,
constantly crop up in our daily conversations, and dominate the news and media. But wait, there's something
missing from the list of names above– a group constituting nearly 51% of our population– women("Women's
Health USA 2012."). Scarce are mentions of successful female journalists. Scarce are women confidently
voicing their political opinions on reputable news channels. Scarce are truly powerful female journalists. In
reality, this problem goes unnoticed by most– in fact, despite being a news and politics aficionado, it didn't
hit me until recently that women were so blatantly marginalized in this industry. It is perfectly valid to
question the relevancy of such an obscure issue, but obscurity does not equate to unimportance. Portraying
women unequally in the media defies not only our principles, but also the nation's principles. How can we
claim that we are a nation of equal opportunity if we don't practice what we preach? We must encourage
women to increase their political awareness and take on leadership roles in the media, especially in covering
the most vital topics, because the underrepresentation of women in media encourages disparity between the
sexes.
The problem of gender inequality in media has two main aspects– the shunning of women into petty, less
important aspects of news and a clear lack of women in leadership in media. According to a report on the

Military Technology And Its Impact Today
Connor Aitken English 8 CP 2/23/15 Burke Military Technology and Its Impact Today The True Impact of
Technology Bill was in the hills of Afghanistan, approaching an enemy compound that held a high value
target. This target was a rebel leader attempting to spread radical Sunni beliefs on the infidels. As a definite
threat to his region and a potential threat to America he had to be taken out. This could be accomplished by
Bill 's squadron. If Bill 's team of four have to enter the compound and eliminate the target how many of
them would make it out alive? Were there unforeseen dangers that they would not be able to overcome? Did
they have to enter and eliminate the target themselves? Fortunately due to military drones, they did not. Bill
radioed command and had an unmanned Reaper drone strike the compound. This drone strike removes the
possibility of friendly casualties. To put the power and effectiveness of drones in perspective, Bill 's presence
was not necessary and this could have occurred with one surveillance and one Reaper drone. Unmanned
aircrafts allocation for defence to be carried out from a distance is a pinnacle of American security. The
military's correlation with technology is linear because it opens the possible doorways of advancement.

Healthcare Technology of Today
Introduction
Healthcare technology has come a long way. I remember the days of putting my fingers on patients' wrists to
take their pulse and looking up at the clock while counting, using manual blood–pressure cuffs and looking
at their chest rise and fall to count for respirations. Today that picture is very different, now, "almost
everything nurses do depends on the information they get from electronic devices, and Healthcare
Technology Management (HTM) professionals, are responsible for the majority of those devices (Hayhurst,
2015). In the last four weeks we covered many topics on nursing leadership and styles. First, I learned that
time management, leadership theories, learning styles, leadership and management are all essential parts of
nursing. Second, I learned that everyone has different types of personalities and what seems right to me, is
not the only way. Third, I learned about change theories, conflict theories and leaders as change agents. Also,
the conflict resolution questionnaire analysis showed me that my style of conflict resolution is Collaboration.
Last, I learned about emotional intelligence, communication styles, and the body language quiz showed me
that I have a strong ability to read other people. Nursing informatics and Healthcare Technology is the way of
the future. With the electronic health records (EHRs)

The Machine Stops And Technology Today
Even though technology in "The Machine Stops" and technology today have many differences, many
characteristics are in common. The futuristic modern technology in "The Machine Stops is very dependable
as well as modern day technology, except that in "The Machine Stops" everything is machine generated.
Most people today communicate on the cell phone or text messages. Frequently, people may be contacted
over video messages as well. In "The Machine Stops" the most common way to communicate is by pictures
or video messages with little face to face contact. Technology used in both case scenarios is very reliant for
humans. For example, humans rely on the internet to look up a question if we don't know the answer. In "The
Machine Stops", they often did not have to ask questions because the technology already did it for them. In
relation to the story, they refer to when the machine stops as a "technological death", which we can relate to
the same phrase in a way that if humans did not have the access to technological works, most of our world
would not be able to function. People would struggle with communication with their families, difficulties to
their jobs, and wouldn't be aware of what was happening in the world.
The novel "The Machine Stops" is a dystopian future in which humans do not have the ability to live on the
earth's surface. The humans then, lived underground in a bee hive–like machine only having access to
artificial air and eating techno–food. The

Technology Is Making Our World Today
Technology making our world today dystopia Technology is making our world today a dystopia world. Many
people think technology made our world better but to be honest it made it worst. Here are the reasons why it
made it worst and not better. First it made people lazy, for example before people used to go out and shop,
they used to walk and get some exercises while now they can just order online. Second it made people spend
more money because everything easier to get online now. People think that technology made our world great
but technology is making us a dystopia. "Dystopia a futuristic, imagined universe in which oppressive
societal control and the illusion of perfect society are maintained through corporate, bureaucratic,
technological, moral, or totalitarian control." One form of dystopia is technological control, we can see this
in social media. Social media first started with Facebook, when Facebook was made back in 2006 everyone
went crazy about it, it was the most popular cite. People used to sit on it for hours and hours playing games
and chatting to people around the world while they are locked in small room and don't even get to talk to
their own family. Fathers stopped taking their kids to vacations when they have free time they rather sit on
Facebook instead making business or even some of them for fun. Mothers stopped cooking and cleaning due
to social media, parents stopped being closer to their kid. Kids and teenager become closer to people over the

Case Study Of Matt Lauer
NEWPORT BEACH– Viewers missing Matt Lauer on the Today Show. With 4.7 million people waking up
to Matt Lauer's face on the sunny Today Show there has been breadcrumbs about his previous sexual
encounters. For some time, America's love affair with the young, handsome news reporter seemed as if he
could do no wrong because we loved who he was. High–profile men like Matt Lauer must be shocked with
women coming out and having any strength. Starting at the beginning of his journey at NBC news in 2001 he
already had a sexual relation with an office employee. Already at the very beginning of the career Lauer was
starting his sexual harassment reputation. That wasn't the only sexual encounter he has had with employees.
In 2014 at the Sochi Olympics he had inappropriate conduct with another employee, yet another one. Many
years later and he still proceeds to participate in inappropriate sexual behavior with his colleagues. How
many instances does it take before it becomes serious? Lauer proved it wasn't a serious issue in his opinion
when in 2016 Meredith Viera found sex toys in his dressing room that he gave to a woman working in his
office. Having Viera find the sex toy and later having a colleague report about Lauer giving her a sex toy was
proof that it wasn't just for his wife who he has been married to the whole time working at NBC News. But
then again woman have no power so it's okay for men to treat them this way. For all the attention Matt

How Is Technology Used Today
Society is always on top of the game trying to buy the best and the most imperturbable technology that can
be provided today. Technology has definitely changed a great deal in the past one hundred years. Not only
has technology benefited the personal life of mankind but it also helped the economy grow; technology even
helped the growth of different cultures everywhere. Technology today is just so crazy and so fascinating one
can't help but wish to have those things. For example, the company Apple released this watch called "The
Apple Watch"; this 'Apple Watch' is basically a phone but the appearance of a watch. It lets one call from the
watch, send messages, take pictures, download apps, etc. It is basically a phone but it looks like a watch ...

It is no surprise that today people live in a world where technology is used on a regular basis. Classrooms
everywhere with a tech based white boards, touch–screen cellphones that talks back to you, cars that can
drive itself. However, technology could be harmful if being used too much that could lead to a serious long–
term effect. The sad thing is, everyone uses technology, from little babies to teenagers, grownups and even
the elderly. The scariest thing about it is that babies have access to so much technology today it is ridiculous.
"More than a third of children under the age of two use mobile media. That number only increases as
children age." (Edudemic 2010), this just proves how much access the little ones have, which is pretty scary.
This is a problem today because the usage of too much technology available at such young age could harm
the young ones both physically and mentally. An article was written by 'Psychology Today' states how
technology can alter the wiring of the brain, "too much screen time and not enough activities, such as reading
and playing games, will result in your children having their brains wired in ways that may make them less,
not more, prepared to thrive in this crazy world of technology." Not only does it alter the wiring in their
brain, but it also could lead them into

Technology And Technology Today
Technology Today
The effects of technology with society has beneficial impacted the way we live. With technology is providing
many advantages, but also it has some disadvantages it has on children and adults. There is little room for
people that wish to live without technology, moreover than living the way they did in the old days.
Technology has its advantages, it's has changed the way people have communicated by email, social media,
the way traveling has improved.
Have you ever heard the saying 'Children are born with a cell phone in their hands?' In today society,
children may not be born with technology in their hands, but they are introduced to it sometimes even before
they can even walk. Technology is so advanced than what it used to be, children as young as babies can use it
and learn from it. I am for my child using technology, to help learn and to expand her mind. Everything that
children see and interact with is involved with technology, for example: cellphones, tablets, video games, and
many other things.
In elementary school the students are mandatory to learn how to use the computers. This allows the students
to learn how to use the computer appropriately. Learning tools for school is at the student figure tips. It's
important for children to learn how to research topics, by using the web search. Children also need to
understand that not everything that they read is 100% accurate. Technology and society: technology "NOT"
by Virginia R. Jones. Studies show that in 2016 it was reported that 41% of 3–4 years old use internet. 45%
of 3–4 years old have played video games, 37% of 3–4 years across online content through YouTube.
Children that are 3–4 years old spend an average of 8 hours 18 minutes a week online. Also 55% of 3–4
years old have access to a tablet. Children are more involved in the technology now days then they were 15 –
20 years ago. Online technology and very young children: Andy Phippen People like to think that technology
is a problem for children. They like to think that technology or screen time is taking away physical play time,
consequently could cause weight gain. Children have less face to face interaction with other people if they

How Technology Has Changed Today
Technology has changed drastically from the 1970s to now. We have exceeded what most people back then
could ever imagine. The technology used in schools, homes, and in public places has evolved into technology
that makes the "cutting edge" technology of the 70s look very simple. Things such as the personal computer,
the cell phone, electronic games, TVs, and even watches have changed completely. The ways that they have
exceeded expectations is truly unbelievable.
Home technology has taken a gigantic step since the 1970s as not only has the performance improved, but
more families have begun to feel a necessity to have these appliances. In 1977 the Apple 2 Computer was
released to the public. What was then considered an "ordinary computer for ordinary people" is now seen
only in museums and dumps. The personal computer was one of the first personal computer with no
additional parts required to buy, such as cases for the computer or a way to supply it power. The Apple 2 was
also had great graphics for its time and was very easy to use for normal people. We now have computers in
our phones, but in the 1970s the Apple 2 was one of the only computer that you could effectively use at
work, school, or at home (computerhistory.org). However, all of that is nothing compared to the computers
we currently use. Now most families have a laptop computer that is portable and has a long battery life
without having to remain plugged into a power outlet. The computers have gotten

Technology Impact Today 's Society
Technologies impact in today's society is constantly changing, but not always for the better. "One of five
children under the age of sixteen now own a smartphone. ("The Gadget Website") The average age of a child
that receives their first cell phone is eleven. I worry about a child's well–being when I see them with these
devices. On my tenth, birthday my father bought me a cell phone. I was unaware of the potential
consequences I later faced when I misused it. Parents are giving children phones without prior research.
Parents must acquire information about the many dangers and hazards that comes with the ownership of a
cell phone. Parents want to stay in touch with their children through cellular devices. By obligation parents
worry about their child's security. Parents realize that young kids crave independence. They escape their
parent's hands to attend school activities and go shop by themselves. They embed apps such as "Find My
Kid" and "Family Tracker" on their child's cell phone to pinpoint their exact location. However, they may not
know the "side effects" of putting a GPS tracker on their child's phone. Parents need to know that cell phones
are powerful and can be detrimental, if an adolescent doesn't know how to use them. In the United States,
"66 percent of adolescents, ages 8 to 17, have rules from their parents on cell phone use." ("Growing
Wireless") What about the other thirty–four percent of adolescents? Parents must talk to their kids about the

How Is 1984 Technology Related To Today
Throughout the novel 1984 by George Orwell, we get an idea of what kind of technology they have and how
it's similar to today's technology in 2018. This is interesting because Orwell wrote this book back in June
8.1985. One thing we see is how their government controls most of their technology and has these big
screens called telscreen in their homes. The government put this so they could spy over their citizens to see if
they do anything wrong. "The government made a figure for this called big brother and he's always
watching." I just find this interesting because how much of this technology that Orwell had made up for the
purpose of his book, we have in today's modern time.

I believe that orwell had an idea on how the future might turn out because of all the things that they we're
inventing back in the 1980's. An example of this in the telescreen because people that do not understand that
the things in the novel weren't invented yet, yes there might have been something similar to a television but
the telescreen is a mix of video and servalens so they could see them.
I say yes some of things things might have been on the brink of creation but for George Orwell had an idea
on how the future would change with the birth of new technology. However George Orwell have an idea on
technology so advanced for his time? We see in the book and in the movie 1984 that they have many
different machines. These machines we see are similarities in today's modern machines. Another one of these
machines in 1984 is a flying machine that flies over people and takes pictures of them and of the commutie.
The purpose of this machine is to make sure their citizens are following the rule and to let them know that
big brother has eyes and ears everywhere and all over. This is just a small amount of the different things in

Today's Youth and Technology In today's world, technology is heavily relied on throughout businesses,
homes, schools and many other fields of importance. Technology has made an impact, not only on today's
society, but more and more on today's youth. Many kids come into contact with technology at a young age
and are usually more technologically intelligent than adults. They are practically teaching the adults how to
use technology, today's youth has grown up with technology their whole life making it easy for them to learn
and grow with the the technology rather than learn it as adults today are. There are a great deal of both

Because suicide has become such a problem from cyber bullying, there has been federal and state laws put
into place to try and prevent kids from taking their own lives. "In our research about 85% of the time, the
target knows who the bully is, and it's usually somebody from their social circle" (Patchin). When the bully is
from their social circle, it tends to hurt the individual even more. They can't take their problems to their
friends because, sometimes, those are the people who are bullying. Explicit text messages or better known as
sexting has evolved through the use of technology. Sexting is affecting teens' lives in a negative way. "One in
five teens admit to sending sexually explicit photos or messages with their cell phones and twice as many
reported receiving sexting messages and photos" (Mooney 42). The sending of vulgar messages has created
emotional problems for teens. Those messages can be spread across the school or even throughout the town
in an instant, reaching anyone and everyone. Once those messages are exposed, many teens begin to harass
or make fun of the messages or pictures causing emotional problems such as insecurity for the victim.
"Emotionally sexting can take a toll on a person, especially if it backfires and gets into the wrong hands,"
says Dr. Johnson physiatrist at the Houston Human Behavioral Study (Johnson). Many girls suffer from this

Positives And Negatives Of Consumerism
Just what is consumerism, and is it beneficial or detrimental to our economy and society? Basically,
consumerism is the ideology that people must buy products and services in order to allow the economy to
function correctly, but is this line of thinking accurate? It is entirely possible that consumerism is creating a
downward slope, leading us into greed and selfishness; but it is also argued that consumerism is merely a
means to stimulate the economy and produce a better society as a whole. There are flaws in the system of
course: pollution, greed, wasted materials; but there are also benefits to it, such as, the creation of new jobs,
the growth of businesses, and even a show of patriotism. In essence, consumerism is both a positive and a
negative force in the modern world, depending on how it is utilized and portrayed, for example: a person
with a positive world value would best consider balancing out their life so they are neither needlessly

the fact that consumers have the option to only buy necessities and the occasional goods and/or services for
entertainment or pleasure (Millburn and Nicodemus). The idea of the healthy medium has long been since

Technology And Its Effect On Society Today
As you look to the left and then to the right it is almost inevitable that you are looking at some form of
technology. Imagine living in the world without the simple things that we overlook each and every day,
things such as fire, and paper. Imagine the world without cars, TV, or the Internet. Most of us could not
envision what life would be like without the many inventions and advancements of technology because we
have become so accustomed and consumed by the modern technology all around us. With the inventions of
simple technology made long ago, it has transformed the world we live in today by making it fast paced and
overall more advanced. Because of the popular use and huge advances in technology it has had both negative
and positive effects on society today. The thing that disconnects mankind from animals is the capability to
use the mind for reason and conception. Reason is the skill to be able to think, create, understand, and make
judgments. Because of this skill, humans have the desire to formulate new technology. Over the course of
many thousands of years, the inventions of different technologies have been the building blocks for society
today. Technology has molded and shaped human history. Looking back on the past, people in the Stone Age
did not have the extravagance of using the Internet, the enjoyment of sitting down to watch TV, or simply
popping dinner in the microwave. However, they did spend time trying to invent new things, as some do in

Life Without Technology Vs. Life Today?
Before we had personal phones, people had to manage their business by themselves. Before we had buses
and trains, people had to walk miles to their destination. Before we had entertainment devices, kids were
limited to a small variety of options to kill time. Before we had advanced technology, people have resorted to
the life of basics, but that does not necessarily mean it was a better time. In fact, if we compare the two
realities of life before simple technology and life today, we would realize that our lives are better due to our
complex but advanced webbing of technology.
For decades, technology itself was at a stagnant period with inventions and machinery that came at a slow
pace. Life progressed naturally and it was not until the ninety's that technology boomed, which stimulated
our society by speeding up to a better society and an improvement to life itself. Popular technology evolved,
such as the internet, phones, and other devices as well. While a large population believe life was better due to
technology being more simple than it is now, the truth of the argument between life being better when
technology was simpler or when technology has evolved today lies on the side of today. It has given us a
convenient way of living as well as making our environment and surroundings superb, and giving us
remarkable devices and inventions that have exceeded our standards. Transportation is much more reliable
today than it ever was, bringing an improvement upon the

Technology Ruining Our Kids Today?
s Technology Ruining Our Kids Today? Whether one is team iPhone or team Android, it is highly likely that
one has a cell phone of some type. Technology has taken over our world as we know it. Michelle Ybarra did
many studies on whether or not technology negatively impacted ones children (2011). She found that
technology is increasing at a fast rate among children and teenagers (Ybarra, 2011). Many parents and other
adults are automatically tying children's access to technology to things such as sexting, bullying, and other
violence. While these may be correlated, this does not mean technology is the sole cause of these outcomes.
Ybarra did many studies that showed the number of kids bullied and/or harassed is very low compared to
those that are not bullied (2011). The majority who said they were bullied said it was physically in person
and not via technology (Ybarra, 2011). Her studies on sexting had very similar results. Very few children said
they had ever engaged in any sort of sexting and for those that did, they said they were still finding out about
it the old–fashioned way in things such as television and movies (Ybarra, 2011). Despite all of the negative
opinions on technology, technology actually has many positive attributes as well. Many video games
promote exercise and movement. Cell phones and social media provide an easy way to communicate with
friends whether it just is socially or for things such as homework and group projects. The internet also

How Technology Has Solve All The Problems Of Today And...
As nature deteriorates on several fronts, ranging from ozone depletion to water contamination, scientists and
politicians grow more desperate to stall and ultimately reverse the damage to the environment. Technology
quickly comes to mind as the most viable option, having been responsible for great strides in fields such as
computer science and medicine. Humanity is fascinated by the question: "if science can cure disease, why
not use it to regulate the environment?" Questions like this gave way to "techno–optimism," the belief that
technology can solve all the problems of today and tomorrow. However, techno–optimism is a flawed
philosophy that mistakes technology for an environmental cure–all. While the pursuit of ecological
sustainability requires the use technology, the theory grossly exaggerates the power of this relationship. It is
imperative that techno–optimism be dispelled and replaced with a new, more realistic ideology. Far superior
is the notion of techno–realism, which seeks to find the most efficient, most realistic solutions possible while
considering all limiting factors in a particular situation. However, at this time, it is more important to
promote techno–realism as a philosophy than to describe specific techno–realistic solutions to environmental
and social concerns. Embracing techno–realism is the first step in learning that technology, while necessary
to protect the environment, is not a panacea in its own right.

The Censorship Of Singapore ( Mda )
The practise of censorship – the restriction of ideas, action or image through the control of the media or any
other medium of expression. Censorship should be practised sensibly so that it will not restrict the
development and expression of new ideas while ensuring that social and political harmony is assured.
Censorship plays a vital role in maintaining the morals of its society and creating an economically dynamic,
socially cohesive and culturally vibrant nation. (N.A, N.D) The press exert a significant influence on the
public and is partly responsible for the views and values that many hold. Hence, it should be responsible with
what it put forth to the public. Singapore has gradually moved from film censorship to film classification and
now to the focus on media literacy. Media Authority of Singapore (MDA) plays a significant role in
regulating and conducting matters pertaining to the media. It is guided by legislation/acts such as Media
Development Authority of Singapore Act, code of practice and guideline to comply and enforce the entities.
In this term paper, we will discuss how the media handle censorship and classification related matters as well
as reviewing the Films Appeal Committee under the films act policy. In this regard, recommendations will
also be given on how to improve the clause.
The media environment has undergone major changes, driven largely by the forces of technology, media
convergence and globalisation. (Media Development Authority, 2014) As

The Pros And Cons Of Sexual Harassment
Sexual harassment accusations regarding public figures has been one of the most popular news we see on
social media these days. "Sexual harassment becomes a crime only when there is a nonconsensual touching
or sexual contact that can be prosecuted." (Henning, 2017). Some of the accused individuals are admitting
their guilt in some of these situations, while many are denying these allegations, particularly those that
occurred decades ago. In many of the instances, money and other valuable considerations are being used to
get documents signed that swore the party marking the claim to silence regarding the matter, or pay back the
money with interest. This probably because it is much easier and cheaper to pay someone off than to fight
this slander/libel in court.
The most recently talked about news of sexual harassment was about Harvey Weinstein, an American Film
producer and former film executive. At the beginning of October this year, many women came forward to
accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment and rape including, by Rose McGowan, Gwyneth Paltrow,
Ashley Judd and many others. The humiliated producer had been fired from his company and Manhattan
district attorney is currently seeking indictment against him.
A report from The New Yorker explains that Harvey Weinstein put a lot of effort to silences accusers,
journalists, and reporters. "The former movie executive denies the new accusations and "any allegations of
non–consensual sex," but said in a statement to the

How Technology Has Changed The Development Of Today 's...
Modern technology has shaped the way in which society is evolving. The rising popularity of cell phones
containing cameras has led to a shift in culture and a new found passion for amateur filmmaking among
society. Several cultural factors, globally and locally, have contributed to the success of mobile devices and
amateur film. Technology is not just shaping culture; modern film and internet culture is shaping the
development of today's society.
Globally, the self–concept of many cell phone and social media users is being manipulated. Cell phone use
for photography and videography has led to an increase in the popularity of social media usage. Social media
usage branching from camera phone universality has become a significant factor in the purpose behind
amateur filmmaking. There are several reasons behind sharing a homemade video online. Amateur
filmmakers may post out of spite but many share their videos to the public merely based on the concept of
views. Paumgarten states "a perfect instrument for the look–at–me age. Its charm lies perhaps in its
sublimated conveyance of self, its sneaky tolerable narcissism." (333) This quote exhibits an example of how
technology used for amateur filmmaking is a resource in the projection of self during an age where we strive
to be acknowledged. This claim assists in highlighting the idea presented that modern technology is affecting
the sense of self of one who searches for validation while also creating a form of narcissism, both

The Impact Of Technology On Society Today
There is no doubt that technology plays a big role in society today. Whether people like it or not, one thing is
definite: technology is not going anywhere. Having grown up in the midst of the digital revolution,
technology was going to be a part of my life, and it most definitely has. No matter if it is the Internet,
computers, cell phones, tablets, video games; I have been exposed to all of them. However, of all the pieces
of technology I have used, the one I cannot live without would have to be my laptop. This year has opened
my eyes to how important it is to have a nice laptop. Whether I am taking notes in class, doing research
online, typing a paper, surfing the web, or Skyping my family back home, I am always using my laptop.
Sure, I still use my cell phone a lot, but I honestly do not use social media on it as I used to. So really the
main purposes for my cell phone are what they should be for; making phone calls and sending texts. If I did
not have a laptop, it would make going to school more challenging, I would spend much more time at the
library using their computers and could not enjoy lying in bed watching my favorite show on Netflix. Of
course I could handle not having a laptop. However, after completing my first year away at school, my eyes
have been opened to the importance of having one, and I have seen how dependent I am on mine. I use the
technology I use because it makes my life easier, simpler, and more efficient. I also use technology because it

The Problems With The Overuse And Overdependence On...
The Problems With the Overuse and Overdependence on Technology Today The ever growing technology
that humans use as a part of their modern day life is a disputable issue. Some individuals believe that the
contribution of technology has made a positive impact on present–day life and improves the quality of life
for people. Others see that the contribution of technology has negatively impacted modern life and that
technology is a power that has gotten out of human control. In today's world it seems that kids are born with
technology in their blood. From the time kids are born they begin to use and depend on technology.
Technology is beginning to dominate school classrooms. It is taking over people's social relationships with
their family, friends, and partners. All of the different elements of technology are really taking a toll on
children 's, as well as adult's, mental health and the function of their brains. A small amount of technology
use for legitimate reasons is healthy, but it is easy to overdo it. "The average American spends about 10 hours
and 45 minutes plugged in per day" (Dodgen–Magee) An individual 's overuse and/or overdependence on
technology is damaging to individuals, families, and societies. Children are becoming hooked on technology
from a very young age. Parents begin to use technology such as television as entertainment for their children
as soon as they can focus on it. "On average, children from birth to 23 months old are watching 55 minutes

Impact Of Technology On Society Today
Impact of Technology on Society Throughout history, our ingenuity has provided us with a resource in which
our society has become greatly dependent on. Coal, a solid stone like fossil fuel, has been found to be useful
in many different ways like refining materials, use of it 's by–products and heat, but coal has been mainly
used as a source of energy used to power machinery and produce electricity. It is the resource that powered
the machines responsible for the industrial revolution nearly two hundred and fifty years ago, and sparked
the birth of what society as we know it. This paper will discuss the history of coal and the role it plays in
creating the building blocks for modern society, including the early uses of coal, leading to today 's use for
coal, the adverse effects and how it has become a resource in which the world has become dependent on.
Firstly, what is coal? Coal is a sedimentary rock which has a high percentage of carbon along with various
other elements which make this rock piratically combustible. Considered as a fossil fuel, coal is formed by
dead plant matter, that accumulates over a very long period of time, which converts into peat and
accumulates making peat bogs. This peat is converted through biological and geological processes that takes
a very long time to complete. It can take up to one hundred thousand years for a substantial amount of peat to
gather and transform into coal. There are different stages to the formation of coal. As

The Developmental Impact Of Technology On Today 's Society
The Developmental Impact of Technology on Today's Society
Society has become slaves to technology. Our society depends so greatly on technology that we have lost the
ability of face to face communication. Nowadays all you see are people with their face stuck in their phones
or latest gadgets and being oblivious to the world. The obsession and need to use technology affects every
developmental stage. The affect starts at the young age of infancy and continues into childhood, adolescence,
and adulthood. It may have a greater effect on one developmental stage over the other, but it is clear the
technology effects even the youngest child. A person may not see an infant as being able to be affected by
technology but with all the technological advances in today's world even infants are impacted. Imagine
looking around and seeing a cute baby and their mother, but something is different, the baby is occupied by a
bright lit touch phone instead of a baby toy and the mother is paying no attention to the infant. This a much
more common sight today than it was 15 years ago. Mothers are occupying their infants by handing them
their iPhones or android devices instead of playing with them. This is taking away from the infants learning.
Parents would rather calm a fussy baby by giving them a phone or tablet rather than actually trying to calm
them down. According to Dr. Jim Taylor (2010) "when children get bored, cranky, or bothersome, their
parents immediately give them their iPhone,

Is Technology Used Too Much In Schools Today?
Technology
Is technology used too much in schools today? Everywhere I look, I see students on their smartphones and
teachers on their computers. I believe technology limits the ability for students to learn and for teachers to
teach new material. Today, teachers teach less and students learn less. Technology has made our generation
lazy and unreliable. Technology such as iPhones and computer has made our generation inactive and the use
of technology needs to be reduced drastically. Today, powerpoints are used because it allows for a better
visual representation of the subject. Students don't pay attention as much to them now because they can
memorize all the information on the PowerPoint the day before the test. Students today try to put in as little
work as possible, but still do well in the class. Students are more concerned with the upcoming tests they
have rather than the material they are currently learning. Smartphones allow for students to easily study for a
test rather than focus in their current class. Phones are the biggest distraction in today's society. Social media
along with messaging encourages people to use their phone more. Snapchat has a feature where you try to
get the longest snap streak with people of consecutive days where you sent them a photo. This is just an
example of how social media has taken ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

the British medical journal published an article criticizing Dr.Wakefield and accusing him of fraud. As a

Not only is technology hindering our use of communication and our school systems, but has anyone ever sat
down to study the toll that this much "screen time" could be taking on our minds and brains? I remember as
kid my mom would limit my TV time to an hour and a half a day in fear that "my brain would turn into
mush." Now, with an average "screen time" of at least six or seven hours, it's no wonder why I am always
complaining about my eyes hurting or how tired I am, but alas, it is impossible to escape technology. While
not having to step out of one's house to do simple things like shop, check out books, and play games is great,
in the end, with every new version of the iPhone to come out, we, as people, have only become more reliant
on technology and frankly less knowledgeable. Something needs to be done to change this. Should we just sit

something needs to be done to assure that our world will be safe in the hands of the future generations to

Reflection Paper
I chose assessment #10: Authenticity Scale (Biswas–Diener, 2010, p. 122) for my assessment. Between this
current quarter and the last, I pushed myself beyond limits on another section of the Appalachian Trail. On
the morning of day number 3 out of 6, I snapped a selfie of myself as I crested a ridge line on a bald (treeless
ridge line with unlimited views). The photo was unique and looked manipulated with a filter due to the glare
from the sunrise burning through thin patches of fog spilling over the ridge as if the mountain was an airfoil.
That photo is now my Facebook profile picture and titled, "Nothing artificial." I have always pushed myself
to be true and authentic in all I do. That does not mean being perfect, it means being honest with myself.
Unfortunately, this strength of authenticity (i.e., the VIA strength of honesty is further defined as being
authentic with integrity) facilitates a mindset that does not tolerate others who are not. One of my other
strengths (as tested in a spiritual gifts test) is discernment. I can usually tell when someone is not being
authentic. I strive to be authentic and I expect the same from others if they want me to trust them.
The news is full of stories of a lack thereof in this strength of being authentic. Yesterday, Matt Lauer was

Technology Today Essay
Technology Today
Technology has always had a significant impact on the way we communicate and socialise. Today's
technologies have, in many cases, become so integrated within our daily lives, that they play a part in
constructing our existence and understanding of reality. The Internet is one such piece of technology that
influences our perceptions of our self and our surroundings. This essay will aim to explore the social
implications of experimentation with identities online, as well as evaluating the ways in which new
technologies may continue to shape this issue in the future.
The self and self–identity is a continually changing entity, which is constantly being reconstructed
throughout a person's life. (Slevin, 2000) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Gergen's theory of social saturation is also relevant to today's use of Internet communications in relation to
construction of identity. Gergen says that media and technology offers individuals with a large network of
relationships with different people, which often results in self–multiplication. (Gergen, 1991, as cited in
Surratt, 2001) The dissolution of the restrictions of space and time in Internet communication further gives
the individual opportunities to recreate themselves in different manners. (Gergen, 1991, as cited in Surrat,
2001) This capability is supported through IRC technology such as MSN or ICQ, through which it is possible
to conduct several conversations at once and hence, have several identities.
Thus, people who experiment with identity online do so for a variety of reasons– anonymity, escapism and
experimentation to name but a few. In today's society, the line between actual self and a self that exists in
cyberspace is deteriorating, as the Internet and its various methods of communication become more
integrated in our daily lives. In order to understand the impact that Internet communication technologies will
have in the future, it is important to consider the positive and negative social implications of the notion of
online identity construction.
The main positive attribute associated with anonymity and free identity online is lack of prejudice, which
creates a more democratic and egalitarian experience for users. (Gurak,

Technology And Technology : Today 's Youth 's Lives
Technology appears more and more in today's youth's lives. Add this to the advent of the smartphone as a
staple in households with 91% of adolescents using modern technology (computers, phones, etc.) regularly, it
is easy to see why teachers and parents feel their students know more about technology then they do (). This
mentality, however, leads adults to the critical error of assuming children do not need to be taught technology
if anything adults should be using technology to teach. As the article "Even Digital Natives' Need Digital
Training" elaborates students today lack important skills in online etiquette, safety, and productivity that
must be addressed by the educational system. If it is not, adolescents can harm themselves (McNeill). With
this in mind, the described digital problem, the actual student risk, and the simple teacher solution shows that
students are more than technology fools but still technology learners. Today, technology fools or technology
geniuses seem to be the divided in opinion. As the article, "Even 'Digital Natives' need Digital Training" says
most adults are allowing children access to media devices at sooner and sooner (McNeill). This is turn, leads
children to become better and better at technology at older ages because they have more years of experience.
Leading adults to the belief that children know more and more about technology then they do so they see
students as technology geniuses that need these devices in the classroom, this

Technology Today Research Paper

  • 1. Technology Today Research Paper The Technology Today The United States of America is one the most technologically advanced countries in the world. There are many different types of gadgets and apps that have been made to make life easier. The technology in the world today hurts the teenagers of America. A small portion of the teenage population actually use the internet for educational or informational purposes. A larger part uses internet for entertainment and gossip. Entertainment is not necessarily a bad thing, but when someone is constantly on it and not paying attention to the outside world things can get chaotic. If a teenager has a test in school and instead of studying they watch TV or play on their phone there is a chance that person is going to fail instead of pass. Teenagers the main group of society that is always on some type of device that uses wifi or the internet. Since teenagers will often have summer jobs, they are probably going to get on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Teens have a bad habit of posting everything they do on social media. What teens do not know is that the people that hire them look into their life. They will go on social media and look at what the teens posted. Many teens have lost the opportunity to have because they post things that are not appropriate for someone their age. Teens have even been killed by the technology we have today. Do not text and drive has been a saying in the U.S. for a time now. There are too many teens getting injured or even killed in a vehicle while texting. The average attention span of a person is eight seconds. Teens that drive have an even smaller attention span. So every little thing that pops in their vision they will look at it. If they get a message then it is a high chance that the teen will look at their phone. All it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 3. Women as News Anchors Essay Women As News Anchors Women in all careers are striving to gain equality in the work force today, and female television news anchors are definitely part of the fight. The road to television news anchoring is a rocky one, where only a few women survive and many fail. Where progress was once thought to have been made, there aren't many females getting ahead in the world of television news. Today, there is a very slow, if any, gain in the numbers of women who succeed. There are many questions surrounding the subject of women in television news, and I will attempt to answer relevant ones in this paper. How have the women that actually make it to the top and succeed as anchorwomen, done it? What does it take to make it? Why do those ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This was relevant to my paper in answering the question of why there are certain expectations of women in television news. The textbook, Gender, Race and Class in Media had a few chapters relevant to my paper. Larry Gross wrote a chapter titled, "Out of the Mainstream: Sexual Minorities and Mass Media." He discussed various stereotypes in our society that lead to stereotypes in all areas of our lives. I found some of my sources from Oasis, and also used a couple of magazine articles that were relevant to the subject. I focused on the questions that I wanted to answer and drew points from the material that were relevant and provided substantial evidence to answer my questions. I found that opinions and thoughts of women who had been through the business were most helpful. There was one big limitation I faced if I wanted to prove that women in television news were discriminated upon based on sex and age. Women have been fired from their anchor positions, and it has seemed that the reasons were because of looks or aging. But this is hard to prove. In August, Carol Schrader, a woman anchor from KETV–TV in Omaha, Nebraska was asked to leave. She said that it was because of her age, although her bosses didn't say that was the reason, stating that she wasn't doing her job. She was replace by a young, blond woman. Also, when Marlene Sanders was asked to leave ABC, instead of saying point–blank that she was too old, her boss told ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Roman Technology Compared To Today The U.S.A today is more like Rome and different back then, In the US every citizen has born natural rights such as the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. In the Roman Empire many were just subjects and not citizens. most of ideas from Rome were stolen by U.S.A like land was given to older males ,the twelve tables was similar to the bill of rights ( the first ten amendments of the constitution) . But Rome is very unique and an awesome place to live in but I think it wasn't very safe back in the A.D. . . .most of the technology that were in Rome was nothing compared to today's modern technology, today modern technology is very highly fashioned which what I mean to say is that it's very more like something that would be made ... • 7. Technology Plays A Important Role Of Today 's Globalized... Jagdeep Mahal Professor Karim Hemmat Course – CPSC 101 November 3, 2016 Technology plays a very crucial role in today's globalized world. In actual, technology is that which make our lives much easier by advancements. As we know that modern era is known as the world of globalization in which the whole world is connected to one another by networking sites. This is the major advancement in the technology that every single city or every nation is connected with each other by the network. Technology is first and foremost thing which is on the top list in the graphs of economy of every country and no matters it's developed or developing. Moreover, there are various types of technologies available nowadays. Firstly, Nano technology is the fastest growing technology among others. For example, couple of years ago, the size of computers are very large but at present, it is like a notebook and has much more features than the previous ones. They are very much easy to use and capable to use by each age group. Secondly, in the past there are different machines to do various tasks but in today's modern scenario, a very small machine can perform distinct tasks in a very short period of time just by a single command. For instance, photocopier machine and scanner were different machines in the past and has a very large size but nowadays it is a very small machine and can do various tasks like photocopying, printing, scanning as well as faxing. It is easy to carry and use. Furthermore, at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Gender Inequality In The Media Anderson Cooper. Don Lemon. Jake Tapper. Matt Lauer. These faces flash across our television screens, constantly crop up in our daily conversations, and dominate the news and media. But wait, there's something missing from the list of names above– a group constituting nearly 51% of our population– women("Women's Health USA 2012."). Scarce are mentions of successful female journalists. Scarce are women confidently voicing their political opinions on reputable news channels. Scarce are truly powerful female journalists. In reality, this problem goes unnoticed by most– in fact, despite being a news and politics aficionado, it didn't hit me until recently that women were so blatantly marginalized in this industry. It is perfectly valid to question the relevancy of such an obscure issue, but obscurity does not equate to unimportance. Portraying women unequally in the media defies not only our principles, but also the nation's principles. How can we claim that we are a nation of equal opportunity if we don't practice what we preach? We must encourage women to increase their political awareness and take on leadership roles in the media, especially in covering the most vital topics, because the underrepresentation of women in media encourages disparity between the sexes. The problem of gender inequality in media has two main aspects– the shunning of women into petty, less important aspects of news and a clear lack of women in leadership in media. According to a report on the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Military Technology And Its Impact Today Connor Aitken English 8 CP 2/23/15 Burke Military Technology and Its Impact Today The True Impact of Technology Bill was in the hills of Afghanistan, approaching an enemy compound that held a high value target. This target was a rebel leader attempting to spread radical Sunni beliefs on the infidels. As a definite threat to his region and a potential threat to America he had to be taken out. This could be accomplished by Bill 's squadron. If Bill 's team of four have to enter the compound and eliminate the target how many of them would make it out alive? Were there unforeseen dangers that they would not be able to overcome? Did they have to enter and eliminate the target themselves? Fortunately due to military drones, they did not. Bill radioed command and had an unmanned Reaper drone strike the compound. This drone strike removes the possibility of friendly casualties. To put the power and effectiveness of drones in perspective, Bill 's presence was not necessary and this could have occurred with one surveillance and one Reaper drone. Unmanned aircrafts allocation for defence to be carried out from a distance is a pinnacle of American security. The military's correlation with technology is linear because it opens the possible doorways of advancement. Military Technology Isn 't Only For The Military From drones to microwaves, useful technology has all originated o the military. The Healthcare Technology Of Today Essay The Healthcare Technology of Today Norma Valdez–Rosa University South Online Healthcare Technology of Today Introduction Healthcare technology has come a long way. I remember the days of putting my fingers on patients' wrists to take their pulse and looking up at the clock while counting, using manual blood–pressure cuffs and looking at their chest rise and fall to count for respirations. Today that picture is very different, now, "almost everything nurses do depends on the information they get from electronic devices, and Healthcare Technology Management (HTM) professionals, are responsible for the majority of those devices (Hayhurst, 2015). In the last four weeks we covered many topics on nursing leadership and styles. First, I learned that time management, leadership theories, learning styles, leadership and management are all essential parts of nursing. Second, I learned that everyone has different types of personalities and what seems right to me, is not the only way. Third, I learned about change theories, conflict theories and leaders as change agents. Also, the conflict resolution questionnaire analysis showed me that my style of conflict resolution is Collaboration. Last, I learned about emotional intelligence, communication styles, and the body language quiz showed me that I have a strong ability to read other people. • 17. The Machine Stops And Technology Today Even though technology in "The Machine Stops" and technology today have many differences, many characteristics are in common. The futuristic modern technology in "The Machine Stops is very dependable as well as modern day technology, except that in "The Machine Stops" everything is machine generated. Most people today communicate on the cell phone or text messages. Frequently, people may be contacted over video messages as well. In "The Machine Stops" the most common way to communicate is by pictures or video messages with little face to face contact. Technology used in both case scenarios is very reliant for humans. For example, humans rely on the internet to look up a question if we don't know the answer. In "The Machine Stops", they often did not have to ask questions because the technology already did it for them. In relation to the story, they refer to when the machine stops as a "technological death", which we can relate to the same phrase in a way that if humans did not have the access to technological works, most of our world would not be able to function. People would struggle with communication with their families, difficulties to their jobs, and wouldn't be aware of what was happening in the world. The novel "The Machine Stops" is a dystopian future in which humans do not have the ability to live on the earth's surface. The humans then, lived underground in a bee hive–like machine only having access to artificial air and eating techno–food. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Technology Is Making Our World Today Technology making our world today dystopia Technology is making our world today a dystopia world. Many people think technology made our world better but to be honest it made it worst. Here are the reasons why it made it worst and not better. First it made people lazy, for example before people used to go out and shop, they used to walk and get some exercises while now they can just order online. Second it made people spend more money because everything easier to get online now. People think that technology made our world great but technology is making us a dystopia. "Dystopia a futuristic, imagined universe in which oppressive societal control and the illusion of perfect society are maintained through corporate, bureaucratic, technological, moral, or totalitarian control." One form of dystopia is technological control, we can see this in social media. Social media first started with Facebook, when Facebook was made back in 2006 everyone went crazy about it, it was the most popular cite. People used to sit on it for hours and hours playing games and chatting to people around the world while they are locked in small room and don't even get to talk to their own family. Fathers stopped taking their kids to vacations when they have free time they rather sit on Facebook instead making business or even some of them for fun. Mothers stopped cooking and cleaning due to social media, parents stopped being closer to their kid. Kids and teenager become closer to people over the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 21. Case Study Of Matt Lauer NEWPORT BEACH– Viewers missing Matt Lauer on the Today Show. With 4.7 million people waking up to Matt Lauer's face on the sunny Today Show there has been breadcrumbs about his previous sexual encounters. For some time, America's love affair with the young, handsome news reporter seemed as if he could do no wrong because we loved who he was. High–profile men like Matt Lauer must be shocked with women coming out and having any strength. Starting at the beginning of his journey at NBC news in 2001 he already had a sexual relation with an office employee. Already at the very beginning of the career Lauer was starting his sexual harassment reputation. That wasn't the only sexual encounter he has had with employees. In 2014 at the Sochi Olympics he had inappropriate conduct with another employee, yet another one. Many years later and he still proceeds to participate in inappropriate sexual behavior with his colleagues. How many instances does it take before it becomes serious? Lauer proved it wasn't a serious issue in his opinion when in 2016 Meredith Viera found sex toys in his dressing room that he gave to a woman working in his office. Having Viera find the sex toy and later having a colleague report about Lauer giving her a sex toy was proof that it wasn't just for his wife who he has been married to the whole time working at NBC News. But then again woman have no power so it's okay for men to treat them this way. For all the attention Matt ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Technology has definitely changed a great deal in the past one hundred years. Not only has technology benefited the personal life of mankind but it also helped the economy grow; technology even helped the growth of different cultures everywhere. Technology today is just so crazy and so fascinating one can't help but wish to have those things. For example, the company Apple released this watch called "The Apple Watch"; this 'Apple Watch' is basically a phone but the appearance of a watch. It lets one call from the watch, send messages, take pictures, download apps, etc. It is basically a phone but it looks like a watch ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is no surprise that today people live in a world where technology is used on a regular basis. Classrooms everywhere with a tech based white boards, touch–screen cellphones that talks back to you, cars that can drive itself. However, technology could be harmful if being used too much that could lead to a serious long– term effect. The sad thing is, everyone uses technology, from little babies to teenagers, grownups and even the elderly. The scariest thing about it is that babies have access to so much technology today it is ridiculous. "More than a third of children under the age of two use mobile media. That number only increases as children age." (Edudemic 2010), this just proves how much access the little ones have, which is pretty scary. This is a problem today because the usage of too much technology available at such young age could harm the young ones both physically and mentally. An article was written by 'Psychology Today' states how technology can alter the wiring of the brain, "too much screen time and not enough activities, such as reading and playing games, will result in your children having their brains wired in ways that may make them less, not more, prepared to thrive in this crazy world of technology." • 27. Technology And Technology Today Technology Today The effects of technology with society has beneficial impacted the way we live. With technology is providing many advantages, but also it has some disadvantages it has on children and adults. There is little room for people that wish to live without technology, moreover than living the way they did in the old days. Technology has its advantages, it's has changed the way people have communicated by email, social media, the way traveling has improved. Have you ever heard the saying 'Children are born with a cell phone in their hands?' In today society, children may not be born with technology in their hands, but they are introduced to it sometimes even before they can even walk. Technology is so advanced than what it used to be, children as young as babies can use it and learn from it. I am for my child using technology, to help learn and to expand her mind. Everything that children see and interact with is involved with technology, for example: cellphones, tablets, video games, and many other things. In elementary school the students are mandatory to learn how to use the computers. This allows the students to learn how to use the computer appropriately. Learning tools for school is at the student figure tips. It's important for children to learn how to research topics, by using the web search. Children also need to understand that not everything that they read is 100% accurate. Technology and society: technology "NOT" by Virginia R. Jones. Studies show that in 2016 it was reported that 41% of 3–4 years old use internet. 45% of 3–4 years old have played video games, 37% of 3–4 years across online content through YouTube. Children that are 3–4 years old spend an average of 8 hours 18 minutes a week online. Also 55% of 3–4 years old have access to a tablet. Children are more involved in the technology now days then they were 15 – 20 years ago. Online technology and very young children: Andy Phippen People like to think that technology is a problem for children. • 29. How Technology Has Changed Today Technology has changed drastically from the 1970s to now. We have exceeded what most people back then could ever imagine. The technology used in schools, homes, and in public places has evolved into technology that makes the "cutting edge" technology of the 70s look very simple. Things such as the personal computer, the cell phone, electronic games, TVs, and even watches have changed completely. The ways that they have exceeded expectations is truly unbelievable. Home technology has taken a gigantic step since the 1970s as not only has the performance improved, but more families have begun to feel a necessity to have these appliances. In 1977 the Apple 2 Computer was released to the public. What was then considered an "ordinary computer for ordinary people" is now seen only in museums and dumps. The personal computer was one of the first personal computer with no additional parts required to buy, such as cases for the computer or a way to supply it power. The Apple 2 was also had great graphics for its time and was very easy to use for normal people. We now have computers in our phones, but in the 1970s the Apple 2 was one of the only computer that you could effectively use at work, school, or at home (computerhistory.org). However, all of that is nothing compared to the computers we currently use. Now most families have a laptop computer that is portable and has a long battery life without having to remain plugged into a power outlet. The computers have gotten ... • 31. Technology Impact Today 's Society Technologies impact in today's society is constantly changing, but not always for the better. "One of five children under the age of sixteen now own a smartphone. ("The Gadget Website") The average age of a child that receives their first cell phone is eleven. I worry about a child's well–being when I see them with these devices. On my tenth, birthday my father bought me a cell phone. I was unaware of the potential consequences I later faced when I misused it. Parents are giving children phones without prior research. Parents must acquire information about the many dangers and hazards that comes with the ownership of a cell phone. Parents want to stay in touch with their children through cellular devices. By obligation parents worry about their child's security. Parents realize that young kids crave independence. They escape their parent's hands to attend school activities and go shop by themselves. They embed apps such as "Find My Kid" and "Family Tracker" on their child's cell phone to pinpoint their exact location. However, they may not know the "side effects" of putting a GPS tracker on their child's phone. Parents need to know that cell phones are powerful and can be detrimental, if an adolescent doesn't know how to use them. In the United States, "66 percent of adolescents, ages 8 to 17, have rules from their parents on cell phone use." ("Growing Wireless") What about the other thirty–four percent of adolescents? Parents must talk to their kids about the risks that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This is interesting because Orwell wrote this book back in June 8.1985. One thing we see is how their government controls most of their technology and has these big screens called telscreen in their homes. The government put this so they could spy over their citizens to see if they do anything wrong. "The government made a figure for this called big brother and he's always watching." I just find this interesting because how much of this technology that Orwell had made up for the purpose of his book, we have in today's modern time. 1984 is a novel written by George Orwell that takes place in ... Today 's Youth And Technology Cody Huwa Mrs. Goddard English Comp. 6 February 2017 Today's Youth and Technology In today's world, technology is heavily relied on throughout businesses, homes, schools and many other fields of importance. Technology has made an impact, not only on today's society, but more and more on today's youth. Many kids come into contact with technology at a young age and are usually more technologically intelligent than adults. They are practically teaching the adults how to use technology, today's youth has grown up with technology their whole life making it easy for them to learn and grow with the the technology rather than learn it as adults today are. "One in five teens admit to sending sexually explicit photos or messages with their cell phones and twice as many reported receiving sexting messages and photos" (Mooney 42). The sending of vulgar messages has created emotional problems for teens. Those messages can be spread across the school or even throughout the town in an instant, reaching anyone and everyone. Once those messages are exposed, many teens begin to harass or make fun of the messages or pictures causing emotional problems such as insecurity for the victim. Basically, consumerism is the ideology that people must buy products and services in order to allow the economy to function correctly, but is this line of thinking accurate? It is entirely possible that consumerism is creating a downward slope, leading us into greed and selfishness; but it is also argued that consumerism is merely a means to stimulate the economy and produce a better society as a whole. There are flaws in the system of course: pollution, greed, wasted materials; but there are also benefits to it, such as, the creation of new jobs, the growth of businesses, and even a show of patriotism. In essence, consumerism is both a positive and a negative force in the modern world, depending on how it is utilized and portrayed, for example: a person with a positive world value would best consider balancing out their life so they are neither needlessly consuming nor being a minimalist to a ... Imagine living in the world without the simple things that we overlook each and every day, things such as fire, and paper. Imagine the world without cars, TV, or the Internet. Most of us could not envision what life would be like without the many inventions and advancements of technology because we have become so accustomed and consumed by the modern technology all around us. With the inventions of simple technology made long ago, it has transformed the world we live in today by making it fast paced and overall more advanced. Because of the popular use and huge advances in technology it has had both negative and positive effects on society today. The thing that disconnects mankind from animals is the capability to use the mind for reason and conception. Reason is the skill to be able to think, create, understand, and make judgments. Because of this skill, humans have the desire to formulate new technology. • 43. Life Without Technology Vs. Life Today? Before we had personal phones, people had to manage their business by themselves. Before we had buses and trains, people had to walk miles to their destination. Before we had entertainment devices, kids were limited to a small variety of options to kill time. Before we had advanced technology, people have resorted to the life of basics, but that does not necessarily mean it was a better time. In fact, if we compare the two realities of life before simple technology and life today, we would realize that our lives are better due to our complex but advanced webbing of technology. For decades, technology itself was at a stagnant period with inventions and machinery that came at a slow pace. Life progressed naturally and it was not until the ninety's that technology boomed, which stimulated our society by speeding up to a better society and an improvement to life itself. Popular technology evolved, such as the internet, phones, and other devices as well. While a large population believe life was better due to technology being more simple than it is now, the truth of the argument between life being better when technology was simpler or when technology has evolved today lies on the side of today. It has given us a convenient way of living as well as making our environment and surroundings superb, and giving us remarkable devices and inventions that have exceeded our standards. Technology has taken over our world as we know it. Michelle Ybarra did many studies on whether or not technology negatively impacted ones children (2011). She found that technology is increasing at a fast rate among children and teenagers (Ybarra, 2011). Many parents and other adults are automatically tying children's access to technology to things such as sexting, bullying, and other violence. While these may be correlated, this does not mean technology is the sole cause of these outcomes. Ybarra did many studies that showed the number of kids bullied and/or harassed is very low compared to those that are not bullied (2011). The majority who said they were bullied said it was physically in person and not via technology (Ybarra, 2011). Her studies on sexting had very similar results. Very few children said they had ever engaged in any sort of sexting and for those that did, they said they were still finding out about it the old–fashioned way in things such as television and movies (Ybarra, 2011). Despite all of the negative opinions on technology, technology actually has many positive attributes as well. Many video games promote exercise and movement. • 47. How Technology Has Solve All The Problems Of Today And... As nature deteriorates on several fronts, ranging from ozone depletion to water contamination, scientists and politicians grow more desperate to stall and ultimately reverse the damage to the environment. Technology quickly comes to mind as the most viable option, having been responsible for great strides in fields such as computer science and medicine. Humanity is fascinated by the question: "if science can cure disease, why not use it to regulate the environment?" Questions like this gave way to "techno–optimism," the belief that technology can solve all the problems of today and tomorrow. However, techno–optimism is a flawed philosophy that mistakes technology for an environmental cure–all. While the pursuit of ecological sustainability requires the use technology, the theory grossly exaggerates the power of this relationship. It is imperative that techno–optimism be dispelled and replaced with a new, more realistic ideology. Far superior is the notion of techno–realism, which seeks to find the most efficient, most realistic solutions possible while considering all limiting factors in a particular situation. However, at this time, it is more important to promote techno–realism as a philosophy than to describe specific techno–realistic solutions to environmental and social concerns. Embracing techno–realism is the first step in learning that technology, while necessary to protect the environment, is not a panacea in its own right. The fundamental difference between ... Censorship should be practised sensibly so that it will not restrict the development and expression of new ideas while ensuring that social and political harmony is assured. Censorship plays a vital role in maintaining the morals of its society and creating an economically dynamic, socially cohesive and culturally vibrant nation. • 51. The Pros And Cons Of Sexual Harassment Sexual harassment accusations regarding public figures has been one of the most popular news we see on social media these days. "Sexual harassment becomes a crime only when there is a nonconsensual touching or sexual contact that can be prosecuted." (Henning, 2017). Some of the accused individuals are admitting their guilt in some of these situations, while many are denying these allegations, particularly those that occurred decades ago. In many of the instances, money and other valuable considerations are being used to get documents signed that swore the party marking the claim to silence regarding the matter, or pay back the money with interest. This probably because it is much easier and cheaper to pay someone off than to fight this slander/libel in court. The most recently talked about news of sexual harassment was about Harvey Weinstein, an American Film producer and former film executive. At the beginning of October this year, many women came forward to accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual harassment and rape including, by Rose McGowan, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ashley Judd and many others. The humiliated producer had been fired from his company and Manhattan district attorney is currently seeking indictment against him. • 53. How Technology Has Changed The Development Of Today 's... Modern technology has shaped the way in which society is evolving. The rising popularity of cell phones containing cameras has led to a shift in culture and a new found passion for amateur filmmaking among society. Several cultural factors, globally and locally, have contributed to the success of mobile devices and amateur film. Technology is not just shaping culture; modern film and internet culture is shaping the development of today's society. Globally, the self–concept of many cell phone and social media users is being manipulated. Cell phone use for photography and videography has led to an increase in the popularity of social media usage. Social media usage branching from camera phone universality has become a significant factor in the purpose behind amateur filmmaking. There are several reasons behind sharing a homemade video online. Amateur filmmakers may post out of spite but many share their videos to the public merely based on the concept of views. Paumgarten states "a perfect instrument for the look–at–me age. Its charm lies perhaps in its sublimated conveyance of self, its sneaky tolerable narcissism." (333) This quote exhibits an example of how technology used for amateur filmmaking is a resource in the projection of self during an age where we strive to be acknowledged. This claim assists in highlighting the idea presented that modern technology is affecting the sense of self of one who searches for validation while also creating a form of narcissism, both ... Whether people like it or not, one thing is definite: technology is not going anywhere. Having grown up in the midst of the digital revolution, technology was going to be a part of my life, and it most definitely has. No matter if it is the Internet, computers, cell phones, tablets, video games; I have been exposed to all of them. However, of all the pieces of technology I have used, the one I cannot live without would have to be my laptop. This year has opened my eyes to how important it is to have a nice laptop. Whether I am taking notes in class, doing research online, typing a paper, surfing the web, or Skyping my family back home, I am always using my laptop. Sure, I still use my cell phone a lot, but I honestly do not use social media on it as I used to. So really the main purposes for my cell phone are what they should be for; making phone calls and sending texts. If I did not have a laptop, it would make going to school more challenging, I would spend much more time at the library using their computers and could not enjoy lying in bed watching my favorite show on Netflix. Of course I could handle not having a laptop. However, after completing my first year away at school, my eyes have been opened to the importance of having one, and I have seen how dependent I am on mine. The Problems With the Overuse and Overdependence on Technology Today The ever growing technology that humans use as a part of their modern day life is a disputable issue. Some individuals believe that the contribution of technology has made a positive impact on present–day life and improves the quality of life for people. Others see that the contribution of technology has negatively impacted modern life and that technology is a power that has gotten out of human control. In today's world it seems that kids are born with technology in their blood. From the time kids are born they begin to use and depend on technology. Technology is beginning to dominate school classrooms. It is taking over people's social relationships with their family, friends, and partners. All of the different elements of technology are really taking a toll on children 's, as well as adult's, mental health and the function of their brains. A small amount of technology use for legitimate reasons is healthy, but it is easy to overdo it. Coal, a solid stone like fossil fuel, has been found to be useful in many different ways like refining materials, use of it 's by–products and heat, but coal has been mainly used as a source of energy used to power machinery and produce electricity. It is the resource that powered the machines responsible for the industrial revolution nearly two hundred and fifty years ago, and sparked the birth of what society as we know it. This paper will discuss the history of coal and the role it plays in creating the building blocks for modern society, including the early uses of coal, leading to today 's use for coal, the adverse effects and how it has become a resource in which the world has become dependent on. Firstly, what is coal? Coal is a sedimentary rock which has a high percentage of carbon along with various other elements which make this rock piratically combustible. Considered as a fossil fuel, coal is formed by dead plant matter, that accumulates over a very long period of time, which converts into peat and accumulates making peat bogs. This peat is converted through biological and geological processes that takes a very long time to complete. It can take up to one hundred thousand years for a substantial amount of peat to gather and transform into coal. There are different stages to the formation of coal. As ... Our society depends so greatly on technology that we have lost the ability of face to face communication. Nowadays all you see are people with their face stuck in their phones or latest gadgets and being oblivious to the world. The obsession and need to use technology affects every developmental stage. The affect starts at the young age of infancy and continues into childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. It may have a greater effect on one developmental stage over the other, but it is clear the technology effects even the youngest child. A person may not see an infant as being able to be affected by technology but with all the technological advances in today's world even infants are impacted. Imagine looking around and seeing a cute baby and their mother, but something is different, the baby is occupied by a bright lit touch phone instead of a baby toy and the mother is paying no attention to the infant. This a much more common sight today than it was 15 years ago. Mothers are occupying their infants by handing them their iPhones or android devices instead of playing with them. This is taking away from the infants learning. Parents would rather calm a fussy baby by giving them a phone or tablet rather than actually trying to calm them down. Something needs to be done to change this. Should we just sit back and let the next generation of kids be as lazy and dependent on these compact devices as we are? No, something needs to be done to assure that our world will be safe in the hands of the future generations to come. It is because of the lack of communication, the feeling of being "lost" without our phones, and the effect that screens are having on our brains that I believe the limitation of human contact because of technology has more negative ... • 71. Reflection Paper I chose assessment #10: Authenticity Scale (Biswas–Diener, 2010, p. 122) for my assessment. Between this current quarter and the last, I pushed myself beyond limits on another section of the Appalachian Trail. On the morning of day number 3 out of 6, I snapped a selfie of myself as I crested a ridge line on a bald (treeless ridge line with unlimited views). The photo was unique and looked manipulated with a filter due to the glare from the sunrise burning through thin patches of fog spilling over the ridge as if the mountain was an airfoil. That photo is now my Facebook profile picture and titled, "Nothing artificial." I have always pushed myself to be true and authentic in all I do. That does not mean being perfect, it means being honest with myself. Unfortunately, this strength of authenticity (i.e., the VIA strength of honesty is further defined as being authentic with integrity) facilitates a mindset that does not tolerate others who are not. One of my other strengths (as tested in a spiritual gifts test) is discernment. I can usually tell when someone is not being authentic. I strive to be authentic and I expect the same from others if they want me to trust them. The news is full of stories of a lack thereof in this strength of being authentic. Yesterday, Matt Lauer was fired from NBC for misconduct outside the scope of this discussion. He most likely had been posing for years. The Internet is one such piece of technology that influences our perceptions of our self and our surroundings. This essay will aim to explore the social implications of experimentation with identities online, as well as evaluating the ways in which new technologies may continue to shape this issue in the future. Gergen's theory of social saturation is also relevant to today's use of Internet communications in relation to construction of identity. Gergen says that media and technology offers individuals with a large network of relationships with different people, which often results in self–multiplication. (Gergen, 1991, as cited in Surratt, 2001) The dissolution of the restrictions of space and time in Internet communication further gives the individual opportunities to recreate themselves in different manners. (Gergen, 1991, as cited in Surrat, 2001) This capability is supported through IRC technology such as MSN or ICQ, through which it is possible to conduct several conversations at once and hence, have several identities. Thus, people who experiment with identity online do so for a variety of reasons– anonymity, escapism and experimentation to name but a few. In today's society, the line between actual self and a self that exists in cyberspace is deteriorating, as the Internet and its various methods of communication become more integrated in our daily lives. In order to understand the impact that Internet communication technologies will have in the future, it is important to consider the positive and negative social implications of the notion of online identity construction. The main positive attribute associated with anonymity and free identity online is lack of prejudice, which creates a more democratic and egalitarian experience for users. (Gurak, ... • 77. Technology And Technology : Today 's Youth 's Lives Technology appears more and more in today's youth's lives. Add this to the advent of the smartphone as a staple in households with 91% of adolescents using modern technology (computers, phones, etc.) regularly, it is easy to see why teachers and parents feel their students know more about technology then they do (). This mentality, however, leads adults to the critical error of assuming children do not need to be taught technology if anything adults should be using technology to teach. As the article "Even Digital Natives' Need Digital Training" elaborates students today lack important skills in online etiquette, safety, and productivity that must be addressed by the educational system. If it is not, adolescents can harm themselves (McNeill). With this in mind, the described digital problem, the actual student risk, and the simple teacher solution shows that students are more than technology fools but still technology learners. Today, technology fools or technology geniuses seem to be the divided in opinion. As the article, "Even 'Digital Natives' need Digital Training" says most adults are allowing children access to media devices at sooner and sooner (McNeill).
