A Better Life Analysis
The movie "A Better Life" is about an illegal immigrant Carlos and his son Luis. They are
constantly at odds and his father works very hard and is still very poor. His son Luis is being
influenced by local gangs that his father doesn't approve of. Carlos strives to be self–employed
however his vehicle is stolen and he and Luis set off to find out who took and get it back. Once he
gets his vehicle back he is arrested and deported. His son and he have one last meeting before he is
sent back to Mexico and he begs him to succeed. The end of the movie show Carlos being led back
across by a coyote and is determined to go home. The plot of Born in East LA follows the main
character Rudy. He goes to pick up his cousin but forgets his wallet and is deported to Mexico. He
meets some people and gets a job to survive and try to return home but he doesn't know Spanish and
really resembles a fish out of water in the story. He repeatedly tries to get back to the USA but every
time is either caught or changes his mind so someone else can go. At the end of the movie he
literally walks across the border and in the final scenes he and his love interest are back in the USA
enjoying a community event.

The Motorcycle Diaries follows Ernesto Che Guevera's and his friend, Alberto Granado's,
excursions through Latin American in the year 1952. Ernesto, a medical student, and Alberto, a
biochemist, intent was to see the San Pablo Leper Colony in Peru. Alberto, being the one
professionally interested in the Colony. However, these intentions changed as the encountered
countless oppressed members of Latin American societies. These encounters not only changed
Erensto's political views, but redirected his entire career path.

Just like the USA, Argentina has colder climates and warmer climates, but generally they are
temperate. Because Argentina is in the southern hemisphere, the season are opposite of what we
experience in the USA. January is their warmest or hottest month while June and July is the coolest

Personal Experience : My Experience
Although I was raised in a globally aware family of travelers, nothing could have prepared me for
the experience of living in another country with an unfamiliar culture. The idea that I would be
separated from everything I knew and dropped into a new way of life was not unfamiliar to me,
however, as I had been raised with the expectation that I would one day become an exchange student
like my mother had. Both of my parents had travelled their share of the world before getting
married, and understood and instilled in me the importance of understanding other cultures. They
also made a point to incorporate aspects of other countries in our daily lives and bring me along on
business trips overseas before I can even remember. Travelling abroad alone at the age of 16 was an
incredible experience, and one that will forever impact the way that I look at the world. Despite my
upbringing, I still had been impacted by the culture of America, which although containing people
from all around the world still contains some extensive pride and cultural superiority. Being in a
different environment surrounded by people who were all raised differently than myself and who in
general thought differently awakened me to my previously closeminded view of the world. I had to
think differently there, and be more aware of my actions in fear of making a mistake, despite
constant reassurance that I was allowed to mess up.

In the early 20th century, Argentina had a very successful economy that specialized in exporting
agricultural goods. Even while the rest of Latin America struggled during the economic hardships of
the 1930s, Argentina's strong export economy allowed the country to flourish due to high
international demand for their goods. Despite this early 20th century strength, Argentina's economy
fell behind as the century went on, with roots in the fact that Argentine stayed neutral for most of the

Britain imported 99% of Argentina's chilled beef, Argentina's biggest product, prior to 1932, but due
to the worldwide economic depression, levels dropped. To protect beef exports, Argentina agreed to
the Roca–Runciman Pact with Britain on May 1, 1933. Although it benefited Britain more than
Argentina, it solidified relations and locked in their beef trade. As a result of the Pact, Argentina was
more dependent on Britain, because Britain controlled 85% of where Argentine beef went, leaving
only 15% under control of Argentina. In addition, Argentina had to use any surplus money they had
to pay their debt to Britain. The reason Argentina agreed to such a seemingly unfair deal was that the
elite landowners did not care about industry, but instead cared about maintaining good relations with
Britain, so that the trade that benefitted them could continue. The Pact was renewed in 1936 and was
in place until the mid–1940s, so it was kept even though it clearly was better for Britain than
Argentina. The British also invested a lot of money into Argentina, especially into the railroad
system and called Argentina the "Sixth Dominion" because of Argentina's reliance on Britain.
Britain was incredibly important to Argentina because it was the main importer of Argentine beef
and invested in the country, which was necessary due to the lack of industrialization.

It may be because of economic and tradition reasons. Sons and daughters are often staying with their
parents until they are 20 years old or until they marry. In nuclear family, mostly couples share their
household responsibilities. Generally, women mostly perform household activities than men. In
family, property distribution is equally divided between female and male children.

What is waste? Waste is what all humans on earth throw away into their garbage bins or onto the
side of the road. Everything that humans use and consume eventually turns into waste and must go
somewhere. This process of using the Earth's natural resources and then throwing them away shortly

14 other former military officials have been sentenced to prison for the disappearance of more than
100 people during the Operation Condor conspiracy to hunt down dissidents across South America.
This all began in the 1970's when six South American dictators started the Operation Condor and
used their "secret police networks" to track down rivals who were across the borders. Many of the
bodies of these victims have still not been found and the prosecutors continue to try and cover up the
deaths today. The court sentenced the leader Reynaldo Bignone 20 years in prison and the other 14
received eight to 25 years. One of the many victims was Maria Claudia Irueta Goyena, who was the
daughter–in–law of Argentine poet Juan Gelman. Maria was pregnant when she was kidnapped and
held inside an auto shop for months before someone in the air force came and took her to Uruguay.
After the birth of her daughter she went missing and then years later her daughter Macarena Gelman
discovered her own identity. "Operation Condor affected my life, my family," Chilean Laura Elgueta
told The Associated Press outside the court room. Her brother, Luis Elgueta, had taken refuge in
Buenos Aires from Gen. Augusto Pinochet 's forces, only to be forcibly disappeared in Buenos Aires
in 1976 as part of Operation Condor (The New York Times, 2016).
