2. Ownership
Celador films are a branch of
‘Celador’ which originally
formed as an independent
production company in 1983.
They are part of a huge
multimedia organization .
Celador originally became famous
following it’s hit TV show ‘who wants
to be a millionaire’.
It went on to co produce ‘Slumdog
Millionaire’ with the likes of film four.
Celador was taken over by ‘complete
communications’ and expanded it’s
small radio station and film production
business. But Celador productions
managed a buyout of the company.
3. Operating Model
Celador films are a small, independent production company. Because they
have a parent company, Celador who’ve had a successful television history,
their production funding could be stemmed from Celador, this operating
system is referred to as a subsidiary.
Films will often sell distribution rights to other companies. This allows them
to generate income before or after the movie has been created. For example;
Pathe are listed as a directing company in The Descent. However, they did not
actually assist in directing they are just a distributor. What could have
happened is Pathe bought the rights to distribute before the film was created;
this would generate income for Celador film. Distributing rights are usually
sold after the film has been made.
But with films such as Slumdog millionaire which they co produced, the
funding may have also been split between the companies.
4. Products
Despite Celador films being set up since 1983, they have only made seven
films; most famously Slumdog millionaire . This shows that they aren’t just
create films for the sake of revenue, they take their time to produce films.
A list of films they have worked on (IMDb):

• The Scouting Book for Boys (2009) ... Production Company

5. Competitors
Film production companies are in competition with every other company or person that
makes films.
For example DNA films, who are the makers of 28 days later are very similar to Celador
films. They are one of the largest UK based film companies making them a major
competitor for the likes of Celador.
Film four are another major competitor for Celador films. They are owned by channel
four television making them much bigger than Celador films. However, they have also
worked with Celador on projects such as Slumdog millionaire.
Sony pictures entertainment is an American based worldwide film competitor to
Celador films.
Worldwide, Celador are not a large production company worldwide such as Sony
pictures entertainment. However, in terms of British cinema, they are very large and
very significant.
