business, or organizational development.
• Possible Organization – KMPG, Bicom systems, Canadian Red Cross, Canada Drives,
and Sysco Inc
• Employment Outlook – Employment will grow 7% through 2026, which is the same as
the overall employment growth for all occupation in the country.
• Pros – Authority and Growth
• Cons - Higher competition and greater experience expected (BLS, 2021) (Heathfield, 2020)
4. Compensation Manager
• Job Title – Compensation Managers
• Salary Range Annual - $70,560 - $205,470
• Job Description – Establish organization’ s pay scale, regulate competitive wage rates,
develop department budget, and work closely with payroll department.
• Education – minimum a bachelor’s degree with major in a related fields such as
economics, accounting, or human resources. (BLS, 2021)
• Possible Organization – Bell, Salesforce, Canadian-tire, Rogers, Fraser Health, and
Scotiabank.
• Employment Outlook – Employment will grow 5% through 2026, which is slightly
slower than the overall employment growth is 7% for all occupation in the country.
• Pros - One of the highest paid careers and non-competitive environment
• Cons – Long working hours and greater experience expected (BLS, 2021) (Heathfield,
2020)
5. Conclusion
• Human Resource Generalist and Compensation Manager have very
different job description.
• Human resource generalist’s duties involve more functions of HR
department.
• Compensation manager works on monetary and other rewards.
• There is great difference in salaries of both career.
• Career advancement is same for both career.
• All Human Resource careers offer job security, career advancement,
work-life balance and position of influence.
