This document defines procedural text as writing that describes how to complete a task through a series of sequenced steps. It provides examples of procedural writing like recipes, directions, manuals, and instructions. The key features of procedural text are identified as a title, goal, list of required materials, sequential method using action verbs and time-based linking words, and an evaluation. An example procedural text for making a banana shake is also included to demonstrate these features. Readers are then prompted to create their own procedural text on a suggested topic.
