This is my definition of democracy, I have included some ideas from John Mill and how he opposes Plato's view of democracy.

1. Democracy
In my opinion, Democracy is the idea that as a society we are all free and we
can work together peacefully in order to gain different aims we reach for.
There is no single power what controls us all, either from the governmentor a
single person. When referring to the different wings in government, I believe
that Democracy is more left wing. The left havesimilar views when it comes to
democracy, for example their goal is personalfreedom and they focus on
society, which shows they sharesimilar characteristics with Democracy. The
people who do havemost power in society and are at the top of the hierarchy
want democracy to fail, this is becausethe idea of democracy means it can
take away their power, which they don’twant. This argues Plato’s views that
“the ruling elite make the decisions which the middle classes will make happen
and will inform the lower orders aboutwhat is to be done.” When it comes to
Democracy everyoneno matter what class they originate from should have a
say in what they believe in. ThereforeI argue John StewartMill’s point that
“society should function by providing the highest possibleamount of freedom
for citizens”
