2. Audience
For my audience research I decided to conduct an online survey. The
reason being is that in this day and age the internet is more commonly used
everyday, therefore designing a survey for people to complete online
seemed to be the best option as many people use the internet for their
everyday activities. I did send a hyperlink to every student in my sixth form,
as well as teachers and younger students in order to make my results more
reliable and realistic. However out of the many people who got the email
only 36 people completed the survey. This may show that an online survey
may not be that reliable as people may not want to participate in it, which
could leave my results unreliable.
3. Question 1)
From this question I learned that 75%
of my audience believed my music
video conveyed generic conventions of
a pop song showing that for the vast
majority I have created a generic pop
song. However, 11.11% of the people
asked disagreed to the people who said
yes and 13.89% said they are not sure if
my video conveyed the generic
conventions. The reason for this is still
unclear, but it has taught me that if I
were to create another music video I
would have to consider applying the
generic conventions of the genre of
song and video less subtly in order for
my audience to notice the conventions.
4. Question 2)
For this question 83.33% agreed that
the video was lyrically visual wheres
8.33% said it wasn't and 8.33% were
not sure. When I was constructing the
video I was making sure that my video
was extremely lyrically visual as that
was how I intended the video to be. I
am unclear how 6 people either
disagreed or were not sure that is was
lyrically visual as images such as roses,
holding hands and dancing were
literally visualising the lyrics said in the
song. However, it has taught me that I
need to be more explicit next time if I
were to create another video.
5. Question 3)
For this question I believed I did not
create the question clearly. I stated a
scale of 0 - 10 whilst not stating 0 being
the lowest and 10 being the highest, so
the question may be unreliable.
However, I received and average result
of 8.1, from only 35 responses so
someone did not answer this question
(probably because of the lack of clarity
of the question).
6. Question 4)
This question initially showed me that I
used a variety of camerawork
throughout my video. Therefore this
would have showed me that I was
creating a text similar to a real life text
as I did not focus on one camera shot or
movement throughout the whole video.
However there were 2 people who
answered no to this question which
shows me that not all people were
convinced by the variety of
camerawork I produced.
7. Question 5)
This question was able to show my how
persuasive my poster and digipak was
in order to make people buy the album.
I used a lot of repetitive elements from
previous pop posters and digipaks in
order to make mine look like a real life
pop digipak and album. 50% of my
audience answered yes to this question
so this shows me I was not as effective
as I wanted to be as I wanted at least
75% to answer yes to this question as I
thought I created a persuasive pop
music package,. However, this has
showed me that if I were to repeat this I
would have to research more into the
selling of albums in order for me to
create a more effective digipak and
promotional poster.
