& hyperextension
• Lat flexion
Same side head rotation
15. Semispinalis Capitis
• Origin
• Articular process of C4-C6
• Transverse process of C7-T6

• Insertion
• Spinous process C6-C7 & T1-T4
• Function
• Ext of the neck thoracic vertebrae
• Neck & thoracic rotation to the opposite
side
• Laterally flex neck & thoracic vertebrae
34. MULTIFIDUS
• Multifidus muscles are very short
muscles running from TVP of one
vertebra up to the spinous process
of the next vertebra upwards
• Their main function is back stability
• They do not produce a large range
of movement, but work to produce
small, "fine-tuning" postural
movements, all day long
43. EXTERNAL OBLIQUE
• One of the outermost abdominal muscles, extending
from the lower half of the ribs around and down to the
pelvis
• The lowest part connects to the crest of the ilium, the
pubis, and the linea alba
• Function:
• Trunk flexion
• Abdominal compression
• Deep Exhale
• Rotation, opposite side
50. Functions:
• Quadratus Lumborum fixes the
12th rib to stabilize diaphragm
attachments during inspiration
• Lateral flexes the vertebral column
• Extends lumbar vertebrae
• It forms with the
contralateral TFL and G.Medius to
maintain frontal plane stability of
the pelvis
51. HIP FLEXOR, PSOAS MUSCLE
• Origin: T12-L5
• Insertion: lesser
trochanter of femur
• Innervation: L1-L3
52. ILIACUS MUSCLE
• Origin: iliac fossa
• Insertion: base of
lesser trochanter
• Innervation: femoral
nerve
