Abu Dhabi: Details about two key petrochemical and refinery projects which are set to be
completed this year will be revealed during the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and
Conference (Adipec), to be held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (Adnec) from
November 10-13.
Over 60,000 oil and gas professionals from
different countries will take part in the three-
day event that will discuss challenges and
opportunities over the next thirty years.
Organisers of Adipec have hinted that Abu
Dhabi will this year deliver two key projects,
the $10 billion (Dh36.72 billion) Ruwais
refinery expansion of the Abu Dhabi Oil
Refining Company (Takreer) and the $2
million Borouge project of Abu Dhabi

The success stories of these two projects will
be shared with the delegates as part of the UAE downstream industry briefing session at the
event.Organisers have said that Ruwais is undergoing a major transformation to become the
largest and most modern industrial complex in the world.
The $10 billion project is scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of this year, taking
Takreer’s overall refining capacity to nearly 1 billion barrels of refined products per day. Takreer is
a unit of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc). The Ruwais refining complex is located
240km west of Abu Dhabi city. It was
inaugurated in 1982.
The expansion of Abu Dhabi Polymers
Company’s Borouge 3 petrochemical
complex will also be discussed during the
three-day event. The project will be fully
operational by the end of this year.

UAE looks to other nations for nuclear waste disposal options
The UAE is looking at different options, including building an underground facility, to manage and
dispose of the radioactive waste from the nuclear power plants it will open in Barakah.
The country took part in the International
Atomic Energy Agency’s scientific forum on radioactive waste management on Tuesday to learn
from nations that are already advanced in the field, such as France, Sweden and Finland, to
ensure it applies the best model for its nuclear programme.
“We are looking at various options available globally to deal with radioactive waste,” said Hamad
Alkaabi, the UAE ambassador to the IAEA. “One option is the development of a geological
repository, which means after you use the spent fuel, you store it for some time and eventually
dispose of it in a repository underground. The second option is to send the fuel abroad for
reprocessing and then send back the reduced volume to be disposed of in the country in a
repository with a smaller radioactive amount.”
Since the establishment of the UAE’s nuclear power programme, the country has set a policy to
develop a strategy for the management and disposal of nuclear waste.
“It’s part of the planning process and part of the responsible approach the UAE has taken,” Mr
Alkaabi said. “Since then, it has adopted a few elements in relation to waste management,
including regulation in the safe management of waste and engaging in many international
activities in this area.
“From an industrial point of view, the power plant in the UAE already has some elements to deal
with waste storage in a way that the spent fuel pool is planned to have almost double the volume
compared to conventional sizes. This means you can store the spent fuel pool for 10 years
instead of five.” The country is closely following other players that have already started the
process of building a repository.
“The UAE is engaged in different activities internationally in developing partnerships with countries
that managed to advance in this area, such as France, Finland and Sweden,” he said. “The forum
is a beneficial one because it allows countries like the UAE and other newcomers to learn from the
existing experience and the steps forward for the industry.”
The building of a geological repository in the UAE is being evaluated with the help of international
experts for the development of a national policy.

“We’re seeing now some of the first steps being taken internationally and the UAE is closely trying
to understand,” Mr Alkaabi said. “We have joint workshops with France to understand their
experience in developing the waste strategy but also the advancements in waste management.”
Yukiya Amano, IAEA director general, said it was important to revisit the issue of radioactive
waste as the peaceful use of nuclear science and technology had grown steadily in the past
decade, as has the amount of radioactive material.
“There is a widespread perception that solutions for managing it safely simply do not exist,” he
said. “This isn’t correct. Well-established technologies do exist to address this issue. Radioactive
waste is an issue for all countries, not just those which have nuclear power programmes, and all
countries using nuclear technologies have a responsibility to manage it safely.”
He said much more complicated technologies were required to deal with high-level waste, also
known as spent fuel. “It is true that geological disposal of them has not yet been licenced
anywhere in the world,” Mr Amano said. “But serious work has been done in several countries at
the licencing stage.”
Djarot Wisnubroto, chairman of the National Nuclear Energy Agency of Indonesia, said scientists
were still trying to create a more secure technology that could solve the problem of radioactive
waste management.
France expects to have its geological repositories operational in the 2020s, according to Gerald
Ouzounia, the international director at the French nuclear waste agency Andra. “Whatever
technology is chosen, a repository is essential,” said William Magwood, director general of the
OECD Nuclear Energy Agency. “The deployment of a deep geological repository for high-level
waste will reduce uncertainties and raise public confidence.”

UAE planning more Fujairah crude oil storage
Agencies + NewBase
FUJAIRAH – The UAE plans to expand its crude storage at the Arabian Sea port of
Fujairah and new berthing facilities are being built to allow VLCCs, officials said Tuesday.
Fujairah, the UAE's only major port on the Arabian Sea, has grown rapidly to become the
world's second-largest bunkering fuel hub after Singapore. The UAE plans to expand
Fujairah's crude storage to 12 million barrels, from 8 million barrels, a government official
said on the sidelines of a conference.
The emirate has eight storage tanks, each with 1 million barrels capacity, and foundations
have been laid for four new tanks, said Salem Abdo Khalil, a technical adviser to the
Fujairah government.
No date has been set for completion of the new storage, he said. The tank farm is supplied
by the Abu Dhabi Crude Oil Pipeline. The 400 kilometer 42-inch pipeline can move up to
1.5 million b/d, or around 70% of Abu Dhabi's production from its onshore oil fields at
Habshan in the western region, allowing it to bypass the Strait of Hormuz bottleneck.
Meanwhile, construction staff have been mobilized to build new berthing facilities capable
of handling VLCCs at Fujairah, a source close to the project said.

GE is set to supply 56 1.7-100 wind turbines for its first wind farm in North Africa developed by
Energie Eolienne du Maroc (EEM), a leading developer of wind projects and a wholly-owned
subsidiary of Nareva Holding.
The 100-MW wind farm will be located
near Akhfennir in southern Morocco,
said a statement.
The wind turbines will produce wind
power in Morocco to help meet the
country’s renewable energy goals,
while offering EEM enhanced economic
returns demonstrating wind’s
competitiveness with alternative forms
of generation. The agreement by GE
complements the government of
Morocco’s Integrated Wind Energy
Project, which aims to generate 2000
MW of wind power by 2020 through an
investment of 31.5 billion Moroccan dirhams ($2.8 billion).

Jeff Immelt, GE’s chairman and chief executive officer, said: “This agreement highlights our
commitment to Morocco’s wind energy development,” Immelt said. “Building on our power
generation heritage of over 100 years, our wind turbine technology is a strong fit to help Morocco
meet its wind power goal
and support the country’s
industrialisation.”
Ahmed Nakkouch, CEO of
Nareva Holding, said:
“Morocco is taking
significant strides in
achieving the Integrated
Wind Energy Strategy to
increase wind’s portion of
the national energy mix to
over 14 per cent by 2020.
“Additionally, this farm will
help by adding renewable
power to the grid and help
meet the country’s growing
demand for power. GE’s
wind turbines have proven
performance and reliability,
adding further value to the
project.”
GE’s 1.7-100 wind turbines
are built on an evolution of
high performance turbines
in order to generate
competitive economic
returns and capacity factor.
GE’s global fleet of more
than 23,000 wind turbines
provides more than 37 GW of installed wind energy capacity, and operates with over 98 per cent
availability.
The power generated by the plant is intended to support industrial companies under Morocco’s
Power Purchase Agreement, thus further stimulating the economy by creating new jobs and
supporting the local supply chain.
Akhfennir is one of the wind farms in the first phase of the Moroccan Integrated Wind Energy
project to produce over 720 MW, said the statement.
Five new sites are being planned to utilise Morocco’s strong potential in wind power, estimated at
25,000 MW. Morocco’s Renewable Energy Law supports energy production from renewable
resources, it added. -

Iran Could Use Gas Pipeline to Pakistan for Other Purposes
Gas Asia + NewBase
Tehran could find another use for a gas pipeline that was due to supply gas to Pakistan, Iran's
outgoing Deputy Oil Minister Ali Majedi said.
Construction of Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas
pipeline has stuck as Pakistan has not been able
to build the section of pipeline on its land due to
pressure from US. Iran on the other hand has
completed its section of the pipeline.
Majedi, who is leaving his post to become the
Iranian envoy to Germany, told the Oil Ministry's
news website Shana that the pipeline could still
be used.
"The Pakistanis say incessantly that they really
want to receive Iran's gas, but if they decide to
forgo the project, the pipeline could be used for other purposes," he said on Sunday.
Iran has most of the 775-kilometer section of the pipeline in its territory completed. But the 900-
kilometer section on the Pakistani side is not complete yet. Pakistan was slated to start getting 21
million cubic feet of natural gas per day from the project this year.Meanwhile, some media reports
say that Russia is interested in completing the IP gas pipeline.

Qatari LNG Not an Alternative to Russian Gas
Reuters +NewBase
Gas rich Qatar has no plans to project itself as an alternative LNG supplier to Europe as the
continent looks to reduce reliance on Russian gas, Doha's energy minister told
Germany’sFrankfurter Allgemeine
Zeitung daily newspaper Tuesday.
“Qatar does not consider himself a
substitute for other producers and
exporters," Mohammed Saleh Al
Sada said, adding: "We complement
each producer.” Qatar is the world's
largest producer of LNG and 30
percent of that goes to Europe.
"We know that energy is not just a commercial product but a very strategic one and we know what
responsibility a producer therefore has," Al Sada told Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.
The EU will hold fresh talks with Russia and Ukraine in Berlin on Friday to solve gas delivery
dispute between the two European neighbours.
Russia has cut gas supplies to Ukraine but gas flows to EU through Ukraine. However, Moscow
has warned of risk of disruptions in near future.

Nigeria: Lekoil announces significant upgrade to resources estimates
for the Otakikpo Marginal Field Source: Lekoil
Lekoil, the oil and gas exploration and development company with a focus on Nigeria and West Africa, has
announced a significant upgrade to 2C oil reserves estimates for Lekoil Nigeria's 40 per cent. participating
interest and economic interest in the Otakikpo
Marginal Field in oil mining lease (OML) 11,
offshore Nigeria, adjacent to shoreline in the
eastern part of the Niger Delta. The Company
holds 90 per cent of the economic interests in
Lekoil Nigeria.
AGR TRACS International carried out a
comprehensive review of the surface and
subsurface data provided by Lekoil. Following
the review, AGR TRACS reported that the
gross unrisked 2C Contingent Resources for
Otakikpo were estimated to be 56.75 mmbbl.
This compares to the 36 mmbbl of gross oil
resources in the most recent 2C resource
estimates available at the time of the
Company's acquisition of the interest in
Otakikpo in May 2014 through Lekoil
Nigeria's wholly owned subsidiary Lekoil Oil
and Gas Investments Limited.
Economic evaluations were also carried out by
AGR TRACS, in respect of Lekoil's estimated
net resources, under US$80, US$100 and US$120 oil price scenarios for the economic life of the field,
which indicate that the planned development of Otakikpo is a robust project under all three oil price
scenarios.
In addition, Stock Tank Oil Initially In Place (STOIIP) ranges have been estimated by AGR TRACS for
four exploration prospects within the onshore part of the Otakikpo acreage and, in total, these are estimated
(on a P50, unrisked basis) to contain potential gross aggregate Oil in Place volumes of 162.8 mmbbl. The
Company also believes that additional prospectivity exists in the southern (shallow water) portion of the
acreage which will be defined by further studies and appraisal in due course.
The consideration for the acquisition of Lekoil's interest in Otakikpo comprised a signature bonus of US$7
million and, contingent on production and ministerial consent, a production bonus of US$4 million. In
addition, Lekoil will fund costs to first oil and be entitled to recover this expenditure preferentially from 88
per cent. of production cash flow from Otakikpo.
Lekan Akinyanmi, Lekoil's CEO, said, 'As the Technical & Financial Partner, we are very pleased that AGR
TRAC's review has confirmed our initial view of the attractiveness of the Otakikpo project. This CPR
increases estimated unrisked oil resources net to Lekoil by over 45% and has reinforced the economics of
the development. This is a robust project that will provide us with near term production, cash flow and
exploration upside as we continue to pursue our wider goal of becoming a much larger, Africa-focused E&P
company.'

PSA audits Statoil’s Polarled pipeline in N. Sea
Press release
On 19 and 20 August 2014, the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway carried out an audit of the
concrete coating of pipes for Statoil’s Polarled pipeline in the Norwegian Sea.
The PSA conducted an audit of the application of concrete coating on the Polarled pipeline. The audit
focused on Statoil and the company’s follow-up of its suppliers.
The Polarled pipeline project consists of a 481 km long, 36″ pipeline between the Aasta Hansteen facility in
the Norwegian Sea and the Nyhamna shoreside facility in the county of Møre og Romsdal. The project is of
great strategic significance for future developments in the Norwegian Sea.
Statoil is the operator for the development of Polarled. Wasco is the company that has been awarded the
task of applying concrete coating to some 40,000 individual pipe sections.
The audit was conducted through meetings, discussions, checks and a document review at Wasco’s premises
in Mo i Rana on 19 and 20 August 2014.
The basis for the audit relates to how Statoil is complying with the requirements in relevant regulations.
The PSA said in the release that, “the audit detected no non-conformities in relation to the petroleum
regulations, but we found two areas with potential for improvement. These concerned the management
system and the company’s own follow-up.”

Exxon, Rosneft to stop Kara Sea drilling on October 10
Press Release
ExxonMobil and Rosneft are still drilling at the University-1 well in the Kara Sea, off the
Russian northern coast, contrary to the reports that the operations have been halted
due to the U.S. sanctions imposed against Russia.
As previously reported, all U.S. companies have until September 26 to halt operations related to the
exportation of goods, services, or technology in support of exploration or production for Russian deepwater,
Arctic offshore, or shale projects that have the potential to produce oil, to five Russian energy companies –
Gazprom, Gazprom Neft, Lukoil, Surgutneftegas, and Rosneft – involved in these types of projects.
According to Reuters, which today cited Russian Deputy Energy Minister Kirill Molodtsov, the U.S. oil
giant ExxonMobil and Russia’s Rosneft, will continue operations at the Kara Sea well past the originally
imposed September 26 deadline.
The operations are now expected to cease on October 10, Molodtsov has said.
In a statement issued late Friday, ExxonMobil has confirmed it will stop its drilling operations in the Kara
Sea to comply with the sanctions imposed against Russia by the U.S. Treasury Department for its
involvement in the Ukraine crisis. The well is being drilled using the West Alpha semi-submersible drilling
rig, owned by North Atlantic Drilling.

European nations are increasing electricity generation using
no-carbon sources
Source: U.S. Energy Information Administration, International Energy Statistics
Penetration rates of no-carbon generation have increased from 50% to 56% in recent years in Europe, as
European Union countries work toward renewable energy and greenhouse gas emissions targets. Increasing
levels of renewable generation, along with nuclear generation, mean that many European countries generate
a large share of their electricity from no-carbon sources.
No-carbon sources generate
power while releasing virtually
no carbon dioxide emissions,
and include geothermal,
hydroelectric, nuclear, solar
(both utility scale and
distributed solar), tidal, and
wind generation. Although
biomass power plants emit
carbon dioxide during
operation, the full life cycle of
biomass fuels is often
considered to be carbon
neutral for the purposes of
satisfying these countries'
goals. France, Iceland,
Norway, Sweden, and
Switzerland each generated more than 90% of their net electricity from no-carbon sources in 2012, and eight
other countries had no-carbon electricity accounting for at least 50% of their generation.
The share of no-carbon generation in European countries is expected to continue to increase, as the
European Union's 2020 Climate and Energy Package targets both a decrease in greenhouse gas emissions
and an increase in the share of energy consumption generated from renewable sources. There has already
been a substantial increase in no-carbon generation since 2002, as countries have added renewables to their
generation mix (see graph). Eighteen countries generate at least one-third of their generation from no carbon
sources, and 13 generate at least half, up from 13 and 10, respectively, in 2002. Increased generation from
solar, wind, and biomass has made up most of the change. For example, while Germany's overall no-carbon
generation share rose only modestly between 2002 and 2012, from 38% to 41%, there has been a big shift
within the no-carbon portfolio, with the nuclear generation share falling by 12 percentage points over this
period. Germany's share of solar, wind, and biomass generation increased by 15 percentage points over the
same period.
Like the United States, which generated 32% of its electricity from no-carbon sources in 2012, countries in
Europe generate most of their no-carbon electricity from nuclear and hydroelectric sources, along with a
smaller portfolio of other renewables. There are some exceptions, however; along with hydroelectric power,
almost 30% of Iceland's total net electricity generation came from geothermal sources in 2012, while
Denmark generated more than 50% of its electricity from wind and biomass.

Page 3 UAE looks to other nations for nuclear waste disposal options The UAE is looking at different options, including building an underground facility, to manage and dispose of the radioactive waste from the nuclear power plants it will open in Barakah. The country took part in the International Atomic Energy Agency’s scientific forum on radioactive waste management on Tuesday to learn from nations that are already advanced in the field, such as France, Sweden and Finland, to ensure it applies the best model for its nuclear programme. “We are looking at various options available globally to deal with radioactive waste,” said Hamad Alkaabi, the UAE ambassador to the IAEA. “One option is the development of a geological repository, which means after you use the spent fuel, you store it for some time and eventually dispose of it in a repository underground. The second option is to send the fuel abroad for reprocessing and then send back the reduced volume to be disposed of in the country in a repository with a smaller radioactive amount.” Since the establishment of the UAE’s nuclear power programme, the country has set a policy to develop a strategy for the management and disposal of nuclear waste. “It’s part of the planning process and part of the responsible approach the UAE has taken,” Mr Alkaabi said. “Since then, it has adopted a few elements in relation to waste management, including regulation in the safe management of waste and engaging in many international activities in this area. “From an industrial point of view, the power plant in the UAE already has some elements to deal with waste storage in a way that the spent fuel pool is planned to have almost double the volume compared to conventional sizes. This means you can store the spent fuel pool for 10 years instead of five.” The country is closely following other players that have already started the process of building a repository. “The UAE is engaged in different activities internationally in developing partnerships with countries that managed to advance in this area, such as France, Finland and Sweden,” he said. “The forum is a beneficial one because it allows countries like the UAE and other newcomers to learn from the existing experience and the steps forward for the industry.” The building of a geological repository in the UAE is being evaluated with the help of international experts for the development of a national policy.

Page 4 “We’re seeing now some of the first steps being taken internationally and the UAE is closely trying to understand,” Mr Alkaabi said. “We have joint workshops with France to understand their experience in developing the waste strategy but also the advancements in waste management.” Yukiya Amano, IAEA director general, said it was important to revisit the issue of radioactive waste as the peaceful use of nuclear science and technology had grown steadily in the past decade, as has the amount of radioactive material. “There is a widespread perception that solutions for managing it safely simply do not exist,” he said. “This isn’t correct. Well-established technologies do exist to address this issue. Radioactive waste is an issue for all countries, not just those which have nuclear power programmes, and all countries using nuclear technologies have a responsibility to manage it safely.” He said much more complicated technologies were required to deal with high-level waste, also known as spent fuel. “It is true that geological disposal of them has not yet been licenced anywhere in the world,” Mr Amano said. “But serious work has been done in several countries at the licencing stage.” Djarot Wisnubroto, chairman of the National Nuclear Energy Agency of Indonesia, said scientists were still trying to create a more secure technology that could solve the problem of radioactive waste management. France expects to have its geological repositories operational in the 2020s, according to Gerald Ouzounia, the international director at the French nuclear waste agency Andra. “Whatever technology is chosen, a repository is essential,” said William Magwood, director general of the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency. “The deployment of a deep geological repository for high-level waste will reduce uncertainties and raise public confidence.”

Page 5 UAE planning more Fujairah crude oil storage Agencies + NewBase FUJAIRAH – The UAE plans to expand its crude storage at the Arabian Sea port of Fujairah and new berthing facilities are being built to allow VLCCs, officials said Tuesday. Fujairah, the UAE's only major port on the Arabian Sea, has grown rapidly to become the world's second-largest bunkering fuel hub after Singapore. The UAE plans to expand Fujairah's crude storage to 12 million barrels, from 8 million barrels, a government official said on the sidelines of a conference. The emirate has eight storage tanks, each with 1 million barrels capacity, and foundations have been laid for four new tanks, said Salem Abdo Khalil, a technical adviser to the Fujairah government. No date has been set for completion of the new storage, he said. The tank farm is supplied by the Abu Dhabi Crude Oil Pipeline. The 400 kilometer 42-inch pipeline can move up to 1.5 million b/d, or around 70% of Abu Dhabi's production from its onshore oil fields at Habshan in the western region, allowing it to bypass the Strait of Hormuz bottleneck. Meanwhile, construction staff have been mobilized to build new berthing facilities capable of handling VLCCs at Fujairah, a source close to the project said.

GE’s wind turbines have proven performance and reliability, adding further value to the project.” GE’s 1.7-100 wind turbines are built on an evolution of high performance turbines in order to generate competitive economic returns and capacity factor. GE’s global fleet of more than 23,000 wind turbines provides more than 37 GW of installed wind energy capacity, and operates with over 98 per cent availability. The power generated by the plant is intended to support industrial companies under Morocco’s Power Purchase Agreement, thus further stimulating the economy by creating new jobs and supporting the local supply chain. Akhfennir is one of the wind farms in the first phase of the Moroccan Integrated Wind Energy project to produce over 720 MW, said the statement. Five new sites are being planned to utilise Morocco’s strong potential in wind power, estimated at 25,000 MW. Morocco’s Renewable Energy Law supports energy production from renewable resources, it added. -

Page 8 Iran Could Use Gas Pipeline to Pakistan for Other Purposes Gas Asia + NewBase Tehran could find another use for a gas pipeline that was due to supply gas to Pakistan, Iran's outgoing Deputy Oil Minister Ali Majedi said. Construction of Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline has stuck as Pakistan has not been able to build the section of pipeline on its land due to pressure from US. Iran on the other hand has completed its section of the pipeline. Majedi, who is leaving his post to become the Iranian envoy to Germany, told the Oil Ministry's news website Shana that the pipeline could still be used. "The Pakistanis say incessantly that they really want to receive Iran's gas, but if they decide to forgo the project, the pipeline could be used for other purposes," he said on Sunday. Iran has most of the 775-kilometer section of the pipeline in its territory completed. But the 900- kilometer section on the Pakistani side is not complete yet. Pakistan was slated to start getting 21 million cubic feet of natural gas per day from the project this year.Meanwhile, some media reports say that Russia is interested in completing the IP gas pipeline.

Page 9 Qatari LNG Not an Alternative to Russian Gas Reuters +NewBase Gas rich Qatar has no plans to project itself as an alternative LNG supplier to Europe as the continent looks to reduce reliance on Russian gas, Doha's energy minister told Germany’sFrankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung daily newspaper Tuesday. “Qatar does not consider himself a substitute for other producers and exporters," Mohammed Saleh Al Sada said, adding: "We complement each producer.” Qatar is the world's largest producer of LNG and 30 percent of that goes to Europe. "We know that energy is not just a commercial product but a very strategic one and we know what responsibility a producer therefore has," Al Sada told Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. The EU will hold fresh talks with Russia and Ukraine in Berlin on Friday to solve gas delivery dispute between the two European neighbours. Russia has cut gas supplies to Ukraine but gas flows to EU through Ukraine. However, Moscow has warned of risk of disruptions in near future.

Page 13 Nigeria: Lekoil announces significant upgrade to resources estimates for the Otakikpo Marginal Field Source: Lekoil Lekoil, the oil and gas exploration and development company with a focus on Nigeria and West Africa, has announced a significant upgrade to 2C oil reserves estimates for Lekoil Nigeria's 40 per cent. participating interest and economic interest in the Otakikpo Marginal Field in oil mining lease (OML) 11, offshore Nigeria, adjacent to shoreline in the eastern part of the Niger Delta. The Company holds 90 per cent of the economic interests in Lekoil Nigeria. AGR TRACS International carried out a comprehensive review of the surface and subsurface data provided by Lekoil. Following the review, AGR TRACS reported that the gross unrisked 2C Contingent Resources for Otakikpo were estimated to be 56.75 mmbbl. This compares to the 36 mmbbl of gross oil resources in the most recent 2C resource estimates available at the time of the Company's acquisition of the interest in Otakikpo in May 2014 through Lekoil Nigeria's wholly owned subsidiary Lekoil Oil and Gas Investments Limited. Economic evaluations were also carried out by AGR TRACS, in respect of Lekoil's estimated net resources, under US$80, US$100 and US$120 oil price scenarios for the economic life of the field, which indicate that the planned development of Otakikpo is a robust project under all three oil price scenarios. In addition, Stock Tank Oil Initially In Place (STOIIP) ranges have been estimated by AGR TRACS for four exploration prospects within the onshore part of the Otakikpo acreage and, in total, these are estimated (on a P50, unrisked basis) to contain potential gross aggregate Oil in Place volumes of 162.8 mmbbl. The Company also believes that additional prospectivity exists in the southern (shallow water) portion of the acreage which will be defined by further studies and appraisal in due course. The consideration for the acquisition of Lekoil's interest in Otakikpo comprised a signature bonus of US$7 million and, contingent on production and ministerial consent, a production bonus of US$4 million. In addition, Lekoil will fund costs to first oil and be entitled to recover this expenditure preferentially from 88 per cent. of production cash flow from Otakikpo. Lekan Akinyanmi, Lekoil's CEO, said, 'As the Technical & Financial Partner, we are very pleased that AGR TRAC's review has confirmed our initial view of the attractiveness of the Otakikpo project. This CPR increases estimated unrisked oil resources net to Lekoil by over 45% and has reinforced the economics of the development. This is a robust project that will provide us with near term production, cash flow and exploration upside as we continue to pursue our wider goal of becoming a much larger, Africa-focused E&P company.'

Sea Press release On 19 and 20 August 2014, the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway carried out an audit of the concrete coating of pipes for Statoil’s Polarled pipeline in the Norwegian Sea. The PSA conducted an audit of the application of concrete coating on the Polarled pipeline. The audit focused on Statoil and the company’s follow-up of its suppliers. The Polarled pipeline project consists of a 481 km long, 36″ pipeline between the Aasta Hansteen facility in the Norwegian Sea and the Nyhamna shoreside facility in the county of Møre og Romsdal. The project is of great strategic significance for future developments in the Norwegian Sea. Statoil is the operator for the development of Polarled. Wasco is the company that has been awarded the task of applying concrete coating to some 40,000 individual pipe sections. The audit was conducted through meetings, discussions, checks and a document review at Wasco’s premises in Mo i Rana on 19 and 20 August 2014. The basis for the audit relates to how Statoil is complying with the requirements in relevant regulations. The PSA said in the release that, “the audit detected no non-conformities in relation to the petroleum regulations, but we found two areas with potential for improvement. These concerned the management system and the company’s own follow-up.”

Page 15 Exxon, Rosneft to stop Kara Sea drilling on October 10 Press Release ExxonMobil and Rosneft are still drilling at the University-1 well in the Kara Sea, off the Russian northern coast, contrary to the reports that the operations have been halted due to the U.S. sanctions imposed against Russia. As previously reported, all U.S. companies have until September 26 to halt operations related to the exportation of goods, services, or technology in support of exploration or production for Russian deepwater, Arctic offshore, or shale projects that have the potential to produce oil, to five Russian energy companies – Gazprom, Gazprom Neft, Lukoil, Surgutneftegas, and Rosneft – involved in these types of projects. According to Reuters, which today cited Russian Deputy Energy Minister Kirill Molodtsov, the U.S. oil giant ExxonMobil and Russia’s Rosneft, will continue operations at the Kara Sea well past the originally imposed September 26 deadline. The operations are now expected to cease on October 10, Molodtsov has said. In a statement issued late Friday, ExxonMobil has confirmed it will stop its drilling operations in the Kara Sea to comply with the sanctions imposed against Russia by the U.S. Treasury Department for its involvement in the Ukraine crisis. The well is being drilled using the West Alpha semi-submersible drilling rig, owned by North Atlantic Drilling.

Page 16 European nations are increasing electricity generation using no-carbon sources Source: U.S. Energy Information Administration, International Energy Statistics Penetration rates of no-carbon generation have increased from 50% to 56% in recent years in Europe, as European Union countries work toward renewable energy and greenhouse gas emissions targets. Increasing levels of renewable generation, along with nuclear generation, mean that many European countries generate a large share of their electricity from no-carbon sources. No-carbon sources generate power while releasing virtually no carbon dioxide emissions, and include geothermal, hydroelectric, nuclear, solar (both utility scale and distributed solar), tidal, and wind generation. Although biomass power plants emit carbon dioxide during operation, the full life cycle of biomass fuels is often considered to be carbon neutral for the purposes of satisfying these countries' goals. France, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland each generated more than 90% of their net electricity from no-carbon sources in 2012, and eight other countries had no-carbon electricity accounting for at least 50% of their generation. The share of no-carbon generation in European countries is expected to continue to increase, as the European Union's 2020 Climate and Energy Package targets both a decrease in greenhouse gas emissions and an increase in the share of energy consumption generated from renewable sources. There has already been a substantial increase in no-carbon generation since 2002, as countries have added renewables to their generation mix (see graph). Eighteen countries generate at least one-third of their generation from no carbon sources, and 13 generate at least half, up from 13 and 10, respectively, in 2002. Increased generation from solar, wind, and biomass has made up most of the change. For example, while Germany's overall no-carbon generation share rose only modestly between 2002 and 2012, from 38% to 41%, there has been a big shift within the no-carbon portfolio, with the nuclear generation share falling by 12 percentage points over this period. Germany's share of solar, wind, and biomass generation increased by 15 percentage points over the same period. Like the United States, which generated 32% of its electricity from no-carbon sources in 2012, countries in Europe generate most of their no-carbon electricity from nuclear and hydroelectric sources, along with a smaller portfolio of other renewables. There are some exceptions, however; along with hydroelectric power, almost 30% of Iceland's total net electricity generation came from geothermal sources in 2012, while Denmark generated more than 50% of its electricity from wind and biomass.
