In this self-reflection report, the author discusses teaching a lesson on wind energy at a secondary school. They began by preparing the classroom and greeting the students. The lesson included an introduction to wind power, definitions of horizontal and vertical axis turbines, how each works, and their advantages and disadvantages. 1. Self -Reflection Report
In this semester, I taught at Royal industrial secondary institutewhich gaveme
a good opportunity to practice my self to be a professionalteacher in the
future. At the beginning, I started to preparemy self by checking the facilities
in the classroomto make sureeverything is ready to use. For example, I
checked my computer, projector, whiteboard , pens and chairs to see if it’s
suitable for students or not. And then, I let the students enter the classroom
and greet them.
The subjectthat I taught was about wind energy which I made it simple and
easy to understand. In thebeginning I introduced my self by telling them my
name, specialisation and where I studied and then I asked the students for
names and what is their specialisation. Moreover, after I finished our
conversation I started to tell them what we are going to study today such as,
the history of wind power plant, definition, whatis horizontaland vertical axis
turbines, the construction of each turbine, how do they work and advantages
and disadvantages of each turbine. Before I startI tried to test their knowledge
by asking them somequestions so that I can know if they already had a
background of this subject. In addition, after I finished the introduction I start
with firstsubjectwhich is horizontal axis turbine and I explained and show
them somepictures by using the projector. After I finished the definition I start
to describe how does horizontal plant work and show them a video to make it
clearer and list advantages and disadvantages. Nextsubject was aboutVertical
axis turbine, I explained the difference between the horizontaland vertical
and described the construction and how does vertical work and show them
different design of it. After that I showed the a video and list advantages and
disadvantages .
At the end, I made a quick review about whatdo we study and then I ask them
if they have any questions about our lesson. After we finished our discussion I
gave them worksheets and I asked them to do it in classroomand I explained
each question. After they finished I collected all the worksheets and I wrotemy
email on the whiteboard for any further questions.
