22. My A+ Scholarship Checklist
• File the FAFSA & complete additional financial aid steps
• Meet the high school requirements for A+ eligibility and have your high school send an
official transcript after graduation
• Register and attend full-time (12+ hours fall/spring semester, 6+ hours summer semester)
• A+ program will pay your tuition (maximum of $181 per credit hour) and the general student
fee
• The benefits are paid after any federal or state grant for which you are eligible
23. What costs are not covered by A+
• Books and supplies
• Lab fees, distance education fees, special program fees.
• Tuition costs beyond $181 per credit hour
• Repeated courses
• Some dropped courses
• Courses not required for your MCC degree
• A+ will not pay for tuition that is already covered by the Pell grant.
24. Maintain your A+ and other aid
Complete at least 12 credit hours (6 credit hours in summer term) each semester to continue
receiving A+.
A+ requires a 2.5 cumulative GPA (2.0 during first fall semester)
Any federal aid (Pell grants, student loans) require a 2.0 cumulative GPA and a 67%
completion rate.
25. How long do I have to use my A+?
A+ expires whenever one of the following criteria are met:
• 48 months after high school graduation. (extensions are available for students who join the
military)
• You have completed an Associate’s Degree.
• You have completed 105% of the required credits for your program. This includes repeated
classes and transfer credits, but NOT dual credit classes you completed while in high
school.
