Introduction
I chose to observe Mrs. Tijerina for my classroom observation. There are many reasons why I decided to observe Mrs. Tijerina. I elected to observe
Mrs. Tijerina so I could see another teacher's perspective on teaching Spanish, as she and Mrs. Fiechter are the only Spanish teachers in the school.
Furthermore, I never had Mrs. Tijerina for Spanish 2, as the teacher I had left Adams Central. Additionally within the hour I was observing, there
were many sophomore students that I knew personally so I was able to ask them on their options of the class. Finally, Mrs. Tijerina's goal was to

Bulletin boards reside on the north and south walls. Construction paper cut–outs of essential Spanish phrases and pictures are scattered on the board for
flair and to produce a vidi image. Encouraging posters inhabit the south side of the wall. All pieces of furnitures are labeled with their Spanish term to
help the students learn objects. The atmosphere of the room is energetic and radiant as you can help but feel warm inside. Mrs. Tijerina developed the
room to encourage learning while maintain a fun and exciting aura. Students enjoy the layout of the room and find that the layout of the furniture and

A Difference Between Children 's Lives And The World On A...
I want to teach because I want to make a difference in children's lives and in the world on a daily basis. Teachers' can better the future by fostering and
encouraging children's ideas, intelligence and individual characteristics. I really enjoy being around children. You may think that you are the one

The majority of students in my classroom are African–American and only 1% is white. Throughout the school, the Black or African–American race is

Today I went to Sunrise Elementary to observe Ms. Thune's first grade classroom. The teacher was extremely friendly and has only been teaching
for three years. Right away we headed to recess to pick up the students who were patiently waiting in line. It was a class size of twenty first graders
and I quickly realized the teacher was super personable! I was surprised right away because the students did not go to their desks, instead they headed

Whenever they got noisy she would say a new catchy phrase. For example, "1–2–3 eyes on me", "hands on top–everyone stop", "let's use our level 1
voice", and "Hey 1st Grade" in a singing tone which they replied with, "Hey Ms.Thune". However, the classroom become very loud and difficult to
manage when there was forty first graders together for Science class. The other class of first graders joined our class and the substitute teacher had a
harsher approach and got upset easier with students. During the Science they split up into groups for a project to build a tower out of candy
gummies and toothpicks. The toothpicks I thought were probably not the best idea because of safety reasons and many students complained about

Good Morning Ryan, I am the President of the Forest Hills Neighborhood Association. I know that Rube Mercier has invited you to speak this
Saturday at our annual spring breakfast event. I wanted to share two things with you. First, we have five speakers Saturday morning. I am giving each

The interactive software can even replace many tools that educators have used for years. The Smart Board allows for the virtual manipulation of tools
like stop watches, scales, calculators, dice and other educational manipulative (Carter, 2006) . The Smart Board also makes classroom management
easier. Unlike a computer which must be controlled at the mouse and keyboard which is usually located at a desk in the corner of the classroom,

Technology has been recognized as a fundamental part of the education process, ranging from laptop computers in high school classrooms to assistive
technology advancing disabled students. Computers are used in classrooms everywhere, designed into various forms. Education institutes pride

Walking up to L.J. Stevens Intermediate School in rural Wilmington, Illinois brings curiosity and excitement to me getting to interview a teacher
that I've seen through the years but never had more than just a casual exchange of greetings with. As I am buzzed through the door stating my

Integrating Technology into Classrooms
Technology is an ever changing feature in education. In order for technology to be effective there are many things that need to coordinate together. I
will discuss some the major topics of integrating technology into classrooms. I will also have some insight into how schools have changed over the
years and what I see now in the classroom.
In my three years of teaching I have already seen many changes to the technology that we use. I think that traditional media could be defined a couple
different ways, whether we talk about the very beginnings of technology to technology that was used five years ago, either could be considered
traditional. Newspapers, radios, and television could be considered as the first medias that could connect students to people and happenings outside of
the classroom. These connections are what I think stimulate students' minds.
The internet came along in the early 90's and really revolutionized students' abilities to connect with people outside of the classroom. (Graber, 2012). I
first remember getting Facebook towards the end of high school and that has sparked the age of social media. Now students can reach information,
blogs, and social media from their phones! I think the role of traditional media has encouraged students' ability to learn from multiple mediums outside

The technological developments of the 21st century have led to the creation of a modern society within which technology is no longer a luxury, but a
necessity. Technologically speaking, interactive whiteboards connect a computer to a data projector and displays the image projected from the

The next chapter in many people's lives is moving away from their hometown and attending college. What people don't yet understand is the major
differences between college and high school. Another idea that is not thought of, are they prepared to handle the difficulties and challenges that go
forth in earning their desired degree? Attending college is only for people who are willing to take on this challenge.
In high school, it is illegal to be truant and classroom attendance is required to graduate so, the only responsibility that a student has is to arrive at
school on time. Since attendance is required, it is easy to get into a routine that stays constant over four years. All that is needed is to show up to the
first class of the day and all classes are set up for the rest of the day. In class, teachers usually hand out assignments regularly and tell their students the
due dates of each assignment. Some teachers even go ahead and have any assignments that are due posted in their classroom to remind students every
day. The only responsibility that the high school student has is to look at the white board and remind themselves that they might have an assignment to
do that night at home. Once they go home after a day at school, students will have the help of their parents or guardians to ask if they have homework
that night. Parents are an enormous help when it comes to high school. Students have the responsibility from their parents to help them be reminded
constantly of upcoming events and due dates.
The work load that also comes from high school is, what most would call, minimal compared to a college setting. Classes in high school are a year
long term and each section of each course is drawn out. For example, a class could take two weeks to complete one chapter. This allows teachers to
explain the material in detail and give out worksheets that contain small portions of one chapter. Most of these worksheets can be completed in class
allowing students to not have any work outside of the class room. What this creates is a workload that is very simple to maintain and allow students to
worry less about working at home.

My Time As Volunteer At Somerset Dade Academy
During my time as volunteer at Somerset Dade Academy, I was able to work closely with the elementary and middle school teacher. During each
visit, I was able to follow Ms. Lee's daily routine. In the morning, we had 30 minutes to plan and get her cart ready with supplies she needed for the
day. Also, we would both create various model artworks to inspire her students to create something more original and imaginative. She wheeled her
cart through certain elementary classes depending on her schedule. Depending on the grade level she was assign to that day, we were able to teach her
students the fundamental concepts of arts and major art movements, all in 30 minutes. Every three weeks, she would focus on a concept, artist, or art
movement. Additionally, she would assign vocabulary words, which her students would copy and also had access to them online on Quizlet. At the end,
she would administer a summative test on everything they learned for the past three weeks. On the other hand, Ms. Lee's middle school classes were
different, more one–on–one, and it was a one–hour period. Her students were able to recreate impressionist and expressionist artworks, such as Monet's

Classroom Reflection Analysis
As I have learned through experience, diverse classrooms full of "windows and mirrors" are the best learning environments for me. By having
different perspectives, or windows, in a classroom, it enables students to glean from various experiences. Mirrors, or similar people with similar
experiences, are also important to have in a classroom setting so that students can relate to each other and feel comfortable. Over the years of my
school career, I have found myself stuck seeing many windows, and not many mirrors, due to lack of diversity in the schools I have attended, but once
given the opportunity to learn in a more diverse classroom, my experience improved dramatically. In Emily Style's "Curriculum as Window and Mirror"
she states, "sometimes when we hear another out, glancing through the window of their humanity, we can see our own image reflected in the glass of
their window. The window becomes our mirror!" (1). This metaphor proved to be true this past summer of 2017, when I took a U.S. History
course at Stone Ridge. Although the class itself was not the most enjoyable, the people in the class made it more pleasant. About one third of the
class was black, which has been very rare for me in the past. When the class got to certain discussions like the "Black Church" or different civil
rights movements, the black students in the class were given the opportunity to chime in and share relatable experiences. Not only were we
engaged with the material, but we were also able to see "mirrors" in each others' lives and other students were able to see "windows" in ours'. This
rare occurrence helped me participate in the class, which can generally be a hard thing for me to do. Hearing my peers' similar experiences was
helpful in seeing that there are people at Stone Ridge who have had comparable experiences to mine. In addition to seeing mirrors in the class, it was

Conclusion Technology or CALL (Computer–Assisted–Language–Learning) is meant to supplement face–to–face language instruction, but not to

There are many advantages that a student who learns in a classroom with an interactive whiteboard will experience. Students in the class enjoy learning
while using the board because it increases their enjoyment and motivation in the lesson. Students today have grown up with technology and enjoy
being a part of it, whether it is watching it or interacting with it. "Children of the 21st century have been part of a multi–media world from birth, and as
a result they are comfortable with such technologies and this experience can be exploited in the learning environment." (Hall & Higgins, 2005, p. 106)
Students are also more willing to participate in class when there is an interactive white board. One reason for this is that students enjoy touching the
board and manipulating objects. Most students are familiar with technology and find some of the activities on the board similar to video games that
they are accustom to playing. Students who are at the board have the opportunity to interact with concepts being taught and this interaction, can lead to
classroom discussion. Students want to be apart of what they are learning and feel that their thoughts are valued, one way for this to happen is through
open classroom discussion. When a student feels as if they have an opinion of what is being learned instead of just being handed the information from
the teacher, they experience an increase in motivation in their learning process.

instruction for our students. Our technology today allows our students to search resources, use social media sites, and locate almost anything that they

Without certain tactics, students are doomed to the same lecture style of education. In this style the teacher is the possessor of knowledge. The teacher
lectures and the class takes notes. The teacher then models and the class participates in guided practice. The teacher gives homework and the students

Going into my math lesson, I was nervous. Not about the material because I love the subject at hand but, I didn't really know the students in the
way that I would've wanted to know them. I would've felt more comfortable if I had worked with them all in math before this less. I knew their
mathematics levels because I have seen the worksheets that they have worked on in the previous classes. I knew what two of them struggled in

I was a six year old kid sitting on the floor with numerous other kids my age. We were sitting in a rather large white classroom blanketed in
multiple posters of words and the alphabet. It was the first week of first grade and Mrs. Wilson had just begun to go over with the class words that
rhyme with each other. CAT! RAT! My classmates and I shouted out examples and felt a little joy in receiving praise from our teacher, as she

We believe IWB's were a very good step in interactive education. However, they have many flaws that the KiD–35 will approve upon.
Traditional IWB's have need the child to get out of their seat in class to interact with the board, not every student gets the some amount of interaction

Many teachers using the IWB's do not change the method in which they use the board. So if the assignments seem repetitive, students lose interest.

Therefore, this eliminates any claim that the classroom is at fault for students not seeing what is displayed on the whiteboard. Students with poor
eyesight moved up to the front of the classroom and still experienced a difficult time in attempting to decipher Dr. Alvarez's handwriting. Therefore, the
only logical argument that could be presented as to why the students kept interrupting in order to ask what, exactly, is written on the whiteboard is due
to Dr. Alvarez's atrocious handwriting. With this constant interruption, it was highly difficult for Dr. Alvarez to complete the lecture within the given

There are many different misbehaviors that a teacher may encounter from his or her students if an effective classroom management plan is not put in
place at the beginning of a new school term or year. Canter's assertive discipline is based mainly on fair rules and negative consequences (Ellis, David
W. 1995). The implementation of an effective plan will cut down on off–task behaviors and will make way for more time to be spent on promotion of a

Technology has been around since the beginning of modern man and it has continued to evolve and transform with time. When once simple hand tools
to complete simple tasks were considered technological advances; today technology is viewed a little differently, but the presence remains the same.
Technology, beginning near the end of the 20th century and on into today has grown exponentially, and so have the uses and roles, it plays in our daily
lives. With this ever–increasing role technology plays in the day–to–day lives of man also comes the increasing role of technology in the workforce, as
well as in education. While some educators are open to the notion of implementing technology into the classroom, seeing it enhance student engagement
and student learning, other educators see the increasing push for technology into the classroom as a negative outcome. This debate may never be

Preschool Classroom Reflection Paper
The amount and usage of technology around the world is constantly growing. Because of technological advances, more and more schools are opting
into technology–based learning, even with students as young as preschoolers. Many teachers (and parents as well) trust that the increasing exposure to
and implementation of this technology is helping children's learning abilities when used responsibly (Sharkins et al., 2016, p. 437). In my observation
of a preschool classroom consisting of twenty boys and girls (ages 4–5), the primary manner of teaching included an interactive whiteboard. The teacher
chooses one student per day to help her create a calendar on Starfall, starting with the month, then the weekday, and finally the date. The other children
appeared to be excited about using the board and cheered the student helper on as she successfully completed the daily calendar. If the student
struggled with the board, the other children encouraged her and vocally offered help so she would understand how to do it. The students were
especially helpful when the student helper was asked to choose the weather icons; it has been found that the use of technology has "been found to
contribute to young children's operational skills, knowledge, and increased understanding of the world" (Sharkins et al., 2016, p. 437). Continuing with

"Where is Andy? This is his second day absent", Mr. James asked Jake at the beginning of class. "Oh Mr. James, Andy said he wants to drop out
and start looking for a job because he knows one day he will find a wife who will have to cook and clean the house while he works. You know girls
are not supposed to work Mr. James", Jake remarked. Mr. James glanced to the right of the classroom and hears Steven and Christopher debating
on the new disease girls have called the "cooties". "Steven and Christopher you know there is no such thing as the cooties, right guys?" Mr. James
implies. "But there is Mr. James. All of the boys around the school are talking about it and I am terrified to catch the cooties," Christopher responds.
"Billy wake up", Mr. James directed during 5th grade language. "I'm so bored Mr. James. This all boy class is not the reason I will do well in school
or pay attention. Where are the girls?" Billy replied. Based on the situation in Mr. James 5th grade class, should more American elementary school
students be taught in single–sex classrooms? Single–sex classrooms are not the reason for academic success and will not be a good educational
decision for our future generations, therefore, public schools should not establish single–sex classrooms. Even though some people say single–sex
classrooms is a smart decision for education, it can cause extreme sexism and is not the true reason for academic success. Is there a solution to prevent

There are so many ways to integrate technology into your lessons. It is not always possible due to the lack of money and time but as teachers we
can always implement some ways to help achieve our goals. Technology is very important in the real world and we constantly need to seek for new
ways to change how our learners learn to help them succeed during their school years. Let us look at some simple ways to integrate technology into our

The first way we are looking at is the morning check in using an interactive whiteboard. "Morning check in" allows the teacher to know which
learners are present and what their plans are for break time. Having the learners to raise their hands and check every one individual is time
consuming and waste a lot of valuable time. Create a Notebook file and take a picture of every learner and post it in this file. Every morning the
